Father killed daughter for not wearing hijab, her friends say
Dec 11 12:56 PM US/Eastern

*** begin quote ***

Friends and classmates of a 16-year-old girl who police say was murdered by her devout Muslim father in a Toronto suburb told local media Tuesday she was killed for not wearing a hijab.

*** end quote ***

Here we have a conflict of religion and liberty.

Didn’t the girl have a “right to life”?

So much for the protection of the “state”. It’s fictional; an illusion.

You have only the rights you are willing to defend.

Sad.

As am I. I’m just not sure what we can do about it.

    >and the fact that it happened here in my country.

{perhaps we need a bigger out reach to the boys and girls that come through the Golden Door!

    >I find these people

Careful, that “these people” is … polarizing. Them is us just different.

    > to be very selfishly enforcing their culture on their children who would rather be more civilized.

Their culture isn’t my concern. “Their children” are now “Americans” and have rights that all us Americans should be looking out for.

I am outraged that this child was basically treated like other women from third world countries! and the fact that it happened here in my country. I find these people to be very selfishly enforcing their culture on their children who would rather be more civilized. I find it odd that if we go to their country we would have to respect their culture and adapt to their idea of “good” so why can’t they adapt to a westernize lifestyle when they come to Canada?
It’s a shame that this child could not confide in an adult or organization, I wish this never happened to her, May the Lord God Bless this strong child

Yes it is sad that she lost her life for something like this.

You only have the rights you are willing to defend? That’s wrong. You only really have the right to say ‘no’.

Nobody can make you do anything that you don’t want to do if you use your right to say ‘no’.

Throughout history there are plenty of examples of people that said ‘no, I’d rather die’.

This woman is just another example. She is not very much different than Patrick Henry when he said “Give me liberty or give me death.”
