GUNS: The Left likes “school shootings” to advance their gun control agenda

The Most Terrifying Reality about School Shootings
By Charles Turot

*** begin quote ***

Here is the terrifying truth: the radical left wants mass murders in schools. They are useful for gaining power. I can no longer blame friends who imagine that the killers are some sort of Manchurian candidates, released to further a narrative and serve the purposes of the left. I don’t believe that, but the idea follows logically from the same conclusion I’ve drawn about school shootings: the left likes them. The left is powerful. There will be more. We could prevent them. We won’t.

*** end quote ***

One has to believe based on the evidence — like California STOPPING reporting violent threats — that the author is onto something.

Of course, we have to harden the “soft targets”, end “gun free zones” aka target rich environments, and allow people to defend themselves.

Argh!

So simple,

GUNS: Eliminate “gun free zones” as a small step towards safety?

Finally, always keep in mind that active shooter situations should not be the main focus in the gun debate, whether for gun control or gun decontrol: They on average account for less than 1% of the U.S. homicide rate and are unusually hard to stop through gun control laws (since the killer is bent on committing a publicly visible murder and is thus unlikely to be much deterred by gun control law, or by the prospect of encountering an armed bystander). But people talk about them a lot, so I thought I’d offer a perspective on them for those who are interested.

*** end quote ***

I read this very calm and seemed to be neutral After Action review of the particular Charleston West Virginia incident.

The only quibble I have is, and I agree, with to paraphrase “criminals are undeterred by laws and probably an armed bystander”. What about “gun free zones” being an attractive nuisnece. We know from Columbine that the criminal in that case traveled further to a movie house that was “gun free”. This assuring that even the slight risk of a “good guy (or gal) with gun” might interfere.

So perhaps eliminating all “gun free zones” and allowing unlimited concealed carry by non-felons, we might make their rage a little more “inconvenient”.

GUNS: The final defense against tyranny

Promoting Marksmanship
December 15, 2021 by John Richardson

*** begin quote ***

The 1941 Swedish propaganda poster below is promoting marksmanship. The wording translates as “shooting skills increase the defense force.” Both the civilian and the soldier are firing what appears to be a Model 96 Swedish Mauser.

Shooting skills

*** end quote ***

Perhaps one reason for “our” “success” in WW1 and WW2 was the marksmanship of the average civilian.

Today, there would be no such advantage.

Today’s gang bangers are lucky they don’t shoot themselves. Everything they know about guns comes from TV and movies.

One can only hope that “We, The Sheeple” are teaching their children “traditional values”.

“Let us hope our weapons are never needed – but do not forget what the common people of this nation knew when they demanded the Bill of Rights: An armed citizenry is the first defense, the best defense, and the final defense against tyranny.” – Edward Abbey

We also cannot ignore the fact that leftists have an insatiable appetite for collectivism, usually in the name of the “greater good”. Collectivism is basically totalitarianism disguised as humanitarianism. They know what’s best for you, and they are going to make sure you follow THEIR plan for your life.

*** end quote ***

Imagine if the Jews has guns, could the Nazi’s loaded them on trains to their torture and death?

And, why is the first thing a totalitarian regime do is to disarm “We, The Sheeple”?

We can’t even count the number of deaths attributable to the various genocides; best we can do is estimate the number of millions.

Sorry, “from my cold, dead hands” just means, that they may kill me, but I’m not going to make it easy for them.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . .” — Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Now is the time to #resist. Here’s Churchil on the subject of when to start:

“…if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

New Zealand Gang Refuses To Give Up Their Guns

We’ve often countered arguments in favor of gun bans by pointing out that criminals aren’t going to give up their guns. This is often laughed at by anti-gunners, either that or they argue it’s irrelevant for some ridiculous reason. Now, with New Zealand on the cusp of banning certain firearms, the nation’s most notorious gang has vowed not to give up their guns.

Source: New Zealand Gang Refuses To Give Up Their Guns

# – # – # – # – #

(1) Criminals don’t disarm because of any law, diktat, or regulation.

(2) One of the sparks of the American revolution was the attempt by the British Army to seize munitions at Lexington and Concord. Look how that worked out!

(3) Isn’t self-defense a basic human right?

(4) The Gooferment has abrogated, by its own court decisions (i.e., no specific duty to protect anyone), its end of the supposed “social contract” (i.e., the citizen pledges allegiance and the government pledges protection).

“Inasmuch as the Constitution was never signed, nor agreed to, by anybody, as a contract, and therefore never bound anybody, and is now binding upon nobody; and is, moreover, such an one as no people can ever hereafter be expected to consent to, except as they may be forced to do so at the point of the bayonet, it is perhaps of no importance what its true legal meaning, as a contract, is. Nevertheless, the writer thinks it proper to say that, in his opinion, the Constitution is no such instrument as it has generally been assumed to be; but that by false interpretations, and naked usurpations, the government has been made in practice a very widely, and almost wholly, different thing from what the Constitution itself purports to authorize. He has heretofore written much, and could write much more, to prove that such is the truth. But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.” Lysander Spooner (1808-1887), No Treason (1870) http://praxeology.net/LS-NT-6.htm#no.6

(5) One theory of “human rights” is that you are only entitled to those rights that you are willing to fight, and die, for. Those, that you earn, you get to keep. All rights are God given!

“From my cold dead hand” is more than a bumper sticker. It’s a challenge to any would be genocidal tyrant.

“You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.” — apocryphal unsourced quote attributed to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto

So too, you can disarm the American people without their own cooperation.

Hillary Clinton: “Reasonable” to Require Guns to be Unusable at Home
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2016

*** begin quote **

The candidate who claimed politicians “need both a public and a private position” on policy issues demonstrated that tendency Wednesday night in the final presidential debate in a desperate bid for damage control on a statement she made in a private meeting with wealthy donors.

That earlier statement was simple, uncomplicated, and utterly damning to anyone who believes in the Second Amendment. Hillary Clinton told the very people who she depends on to fund her political ambitions: “the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment. And I am going to make that case every chance I get.”

As a Yale-educated attorney, Clinton knew exactly what she was saying when she made that remark. But it doesn’t take a lawyer to understand the contempt it demonstrates for the right to keep and bear arms.

*** and ***

First, the District’s ban didn’t just require safe storage to prevent access by toddlers. It made possessing a loaded, usable firearm in the home – including for self-defense – a crime. The crime did not require proof of access by children or even proof that children were present in the home. Clinton’s answer also seemed suspiciously coincidental with a recent, dubious media blitz on firearm accidents among children.

St. George Tucker, Blackstone’s Commentaries 1:App. 300

This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty. . . . The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.

GUNS: Gooferment Skrules are idiotic too

So my 9th grade son is taking AP government and his coy teacher says she won’t reveal her political leanings…but then gives it away with her idiotic opinion of the 2nd amendment is being used wrong because it means only people in a militia can have guns. Sigh.

So in providing my son with the basis for an argument to proffer to her as to why that is wrong it suddenly dawned on me how truly absurd that position is. A militia by definition must be armed. An unarmed militia is like an orchestra with no instruments. Why would you create an amendment to protect a right that is implied in the nature of the thing. It would be like guaranteeing all doctors the right to keep and bear scalpels, or fireman the right to keep and bear hoses.

GUNS: Support Constitutional Carry by Gun Owners of America on Independence Day

2015-Jul-04

*** begin quote ***

Happy Independence Day!

“GOA [has] proven itself as a uniquely effective ‘no-compromise’ national leader in the gun rights advocacy community.” — David Codrea, formerly of The Examiner

Not a GOA member yet? You can join Gun Owners of America today for a mere $20!

Gun owners should take heart because freedom is advancing!

It has been a good year for freedom.

More state legislatures are passing GOA-backed laws, enabling citizens to carry firearms concealed WITHOUT permits — laws that are known as Constitutional Carry.

More states are enacting GOA-backed laws to veto federal restrictions within their borders. The Brady Campaign even lost a case against Kansas last month, when a judge threw out a lawsuit challenging the state’s pro-gun law (from 2013) imposing felony penalties on anyone enforcing gun control. to get more information on these polls.

Finally, more and more people are converting to the pro-gun position. Polls show that the number of people who favor gun rights — and oppose gun control — is dramatically increasing.

Sure, our rights don’t depend on what the majority thinks. But it’s nice when you have the bulk of the American people on your side! Click here to get more information on these polls.

Americans are increasingly pro-gun and are mobilizing

Your involvement with Gun Owners of America is helping make a difference. GOA is educating the public and is mobilizing the grassroots to put the heat on their elected legislators.

Just yesterday, our Facebook page hit one million “likes.” Our email activist list continues to grow dramatically.

Our numbers are increasing, and that means YOUR VOICE is getting louder and louder inside the halls of Congress.

Gun Owners of America wants to thank you for your activism, because we couldn’t do what we do without your support.

No wonder that National Public Radio was able to say, “Gun Owners of America showed with one email alert that it could help flood the phone lines on Capitol Hill days before the Senate vote.” (December 26, 2013)

GOA: Saturating the media

In addition to “flooding” the Congress with grassroots activism, Gun Owners of America is helping to shape the gun rights debate around the nation.

In the two weeks following the tragic shooting in South Carolina, GOA representatives appeared in almost 1,000 different media outlets to defend 2nd Amendment rights. At some points, we were literally communicating with the American people around the clock.

Some of the more notable appearances can be listened to or viewed here:

(1) GOA Director of Communications Erich Pratt goes “mano a mano” with a British TV anchor over the subject of self-defense and gun rights.

(2) Inside the country, GOA representatives appear on CNN and an ABC NewsTalk stations to reject calls for gun control and to demonstrate how law-abiding citizens can (and have) stopped mass shootings.

(3) On both radio and in print, GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt discusses the Pope’s response to the Charleston shooting when he declared that gun makers (and by inference, gun owners) can’t be Christians.

There are a lot more media appearances that we have posted, and you can catch up with these on the GOA website, YouTube and Facebook pages.

GOA: Big wins for gun owners at the Supreme Court

Finally, Gun Owners of America is defending our gun rights in the courts. And this includes lawsuits challenging California’s waiting period and restrictive concealed carry requirements.

Not only that, while the Supreme Court’s major decision from last Friday has dominated the news, there have been several cases before the high Court that have advanced gun owners’ rights.

Gun Owners of America has been involved in all of these cases, and we are happy to report that we have enjoyed a stream of victories and are steadily reclaiming lost ground in the courts. Click here to get more information on these GOA victories at the Supreme Court.

Again, none of this is possible without you.

We know that the media is frequently dominated by “bad news.” But as you commemorate Independence Day this weekend, realize that there are a lot of good things happening that we can celebrate, as well.

NJ WOMAN STABBED TO DEATH WAITING FOR STATE PERMISSION TO OWN GUN
by AWR HAWKINS
4 Jun 2015212

*** begin quote ***

On April 21, Carol Bowne from Berlin Township, NJ, applied for a license to own a handgun, which she wanted to protect herself from a former boyfriend against whom she had a restraining order.

On June 3—while still waiting for the state to give her permission to own a gun—Bowne’s former boyfriend, Michael Eitel, allegedly stabbed her to death in her own driveway.

According to the Courier-Post, after getting the restraining order, Bowne “installed security cameras and an alarm system to her home and began the months-long process of obtaining a handgun.” Bowne’s co-workers said, “She got a restraining order about a month ago, and right after that her car windows were broken.”

*** and ***

This tragedy is one more example of the foolishness of putting a licensing requirement on the Second Amendment. Like all gun control, it empowers those with criminal intentions while making the vulnerable more vulnerable.

SECOND AMENDMENT
The bias against guns: What the media isn’t telling you
By Dr. John R. Lott Jr.Published January 09, 2015FoxNews.com

*** begin quote ***

Weren’t these stories equally newsworthy? To save a stranger, a permit holder stood up to four attackers. Without the pastor’s concealed handgun permit, there could have been a mass shooting in a crowded church. That would surely have gotten massive national news coverage, but the pastor stopping the attack wasn’t considered a story.

The lopsided coverage gives Americans a skewed view of guns.

*** and ***

I can’t find another similar case of a child accidentally firing a permit holder’s concealed handgun. For decades, there have been millions of permit holders. Today, there are 12 million. It will probably be a very long time before there’s another case like this.

*** and ***

Unfortunately, despite the family’s claim to the contrary, the extremely rare tragedy with Veronica Rutledge likely arose because she stored her gun improperly. If she had a semi-automatic pistol, as some reports indicate, it would have been impossible for a two-year-old to have the strength to pull the slide back on the gun to chamber the first round. If she had a revolver or most pistols, it seems exceedingly unlikely that child would have switched off the safety. Thus, she had either already chambered the first round in the gun herself and/or switched off the safety, thus negating the gun’s safety features.

*** end quote ***

Argh!

When I read the report, I knew that it would “lead the bleed”.

And, equally as well, I KNEW it was a “User error”.

Brian Wilson got on a roll yesterday morning.

I don’t have an exact timestamp but it was in the 7:30 time frame.

He made the assertion that the true war on women was the right to defend themselves.

His example was:

“Taylor Woolrich, a junior, says Dartmouth administrators told her they won’t let her carry a gun on campus, even though she lives in fear of a man who has been stalking her since she was a high school student in San Diego.”

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/08/06/ivy-leaguer-plagued-by-stalker-may-drop-out-over-schools-anti-gun-policy/

I have a “bumper sticker” quote that sums it up: “Victim disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” — T.D. Melrose

Brian went on to argue that the R’s should adopt this issue in response to the D’s “war on women” spiel.

He also suggested that the NRA jump on this issue.

And, he expressed shock that this was in New Hampshire, the “Live Free or Die” state.

(I’m a signer on the Free State Project freestateproject.org to move 20,000 liberty lovers to NH and make it the “truly Free State”. Obviously a lot of work to be done yet.)

The Second Amendment is about self-defense. Both from the tyranny of the government and other predators both two legged and four legged.

In theory, the Freedom of Information Act is great. It allows citizens to pursue disclosure from government entities in order to better understand processes or look for malfeasance. In reality, however, it’s often incredibly difficult to convince these agencies to actually free up any information.

Whatever isn’t delayed indefinitely is redacted heavily. Everything else that doesn’t hit these two extremes tends to run into various bureaucratic walls. FOIA request fulfillment is often handed off to whatever part of the agency seems least likely to want the job, either because of its natural antipathy towards the public or because it’s chronically understaffed.

It’s gotten to the point where people are regularly suing the government to get documents released. No one needs to point out the sheer insanity of a system that expends public money to keep public documents from the public, especially one that is governed by an act meant to make the wall between the public and its servants so thin as to be nearly transparent.

40% of U.S. food is never eaten
How composting could benefit pocketbooks and the environment
By Quentin Fottrell

*** begin quote ***

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s plan to require residents to compost their food waste may cause headaches for some families, but experts say it could also help cut their rising grocery bills.

Under the proposal, by 2016 the city will require residents to separate their food waste for collection. Organic waste in New York City — which could otherwise be recycled for fertilizer or natural gas — currently accounts for 1.2 million tons or 35% of landfills, and a pilot program on Staten Island achieved a participation rate of 43%, according to the mayor’s office. Last year, Vermont introduced a bill to by 2020 require residents to recycle their food waste — and 33% of the organic waste in that state already gets composted.

Mayor B is an entertaining parody of a leader.

First it’s the big gulp.

Now, he’s just helping.

Argh!

Is there anything that he can’t try to control?

Now don’t get me wrong, 40% waste, and really any waste, is a “sin”.

Growing up “starving children in china” were ofter used as a guilt trip.

For my own part, living alone, it’s hard to go to the supermarket and find packages for one.

In one recent trip, I could buy 8 pre made hamburgers at the cost of half the weight in bulk. Thanks to a freezer and vacuum sealer, I have 7 hamburgers for different days.

Pre-made salad is cost effective for me. To buy the makings costs more and usually goes bad to quickly.

Sad to say, I depend upon the cafeteria at work for two meals a day. And, I hate week ends for the loss of it.

(Seriously, last week end I made up some hard bolded eggs. But the cafeteria’s are better than mine. Mine are hard to peel; theirs aren’t.)

Just like a “nursing home” except I have to do my own wash.

Laff!

So, I’ll try and do my part Mayor B and not waste anything. Hope everyone else does the same. Without your diktats.

GUNS: “Gun Free Zone” is a free fire zone for the bad guys

A Brief and Bloody History of Gun Control
by Anthony Gucciardi
StoryLeak

*** begin quote ***

Painted signs reading ‘gun free zone’ and gun control legislation that really only affects law-abiding citizens does not prevent mass shootings, as we have seen evidenced by more than one shooting incident. Both the Aurora shooting at the Colorado movie theater dubbed the ‘Batman shooting’ and the most recent Sandy Hook incident in Connecticut both occurred in areas with heavy gun regulation. Amazingly, the Batman shooter actually traveled to the one movie theater in the area that actually did not permit lawful citizens to carry a concealed weapon. According to Dr. John R. Lott in an interview with Newsmax,

”…the one he picked was the only one of those movie theaters that banned people taking permit-concealed handguns into that theater.”

*** end quote ***

Again, these killers are crazy, but not stupid.

I don’t understand why the victims are not litigating with the movie theater for that policy putting them in harm’s way.

Like the Luby’s story, law abiding people obey laws. Criminals don’t.

Seems as simple as 1+1=2 … …

Yet, the Sheeple and Clovers allow the Gooferment, politicians, bureaucrats, and liberal media disarm everyone with “wishful thinking”.

Argh!

GUNS: Defensive use of a gun gets near ZERO coverage

http://www.examiner.com/article/texas-woman-shoots-wanted-serial-robber-possible-rapist-story-ignored-by-msm

Examiner.com Texas woman shoots wanted serial robber, possible rapist; Story ignored by MSM DEFENSIVE GUN USE APRIL 11, 2013 BY: JENNIFER CRUZ

*** begin quote ***

Early Sunday morning, April 7, in Lumberton, Texas (http://www.examiner.com /topic/texas) three robbers kidnapped and robbed one woman, but when they moved on to rob two more women they were met with an unexpected surprise.

According to a report by 12 News Now (http://www.12newsnow.com/story/21902660/beaumont-police-arrest-man-they- say-is-responsible-for-robbery-spree) , one of the would-be victims brought their robbing spree to a halt when she shot one of them. The three robbers, identified as 21-year-old Scott Willis, Jr., 21-year-old Malik Washington, and 21-year-old Ariel Malveaux, all of Beaumont, have apparently been targeting women as victims of robberies since last month.

In the first robbery which happened on Sunday morning, the three abducted a woman at gunpoint, and forced her to drive to an ATM to withdraw cash. There has also been an unconfirmed report that she was sexually assaulted.

In the second robbery attempt, the three approached two women and demanded money. One of the women was able to retrieve her handgun and shot Willis in the abdomen, reportedly puncturing his liver. Willis is being held in the intensive care unit at Christus St. Elizabeth hospital where he is being treated for the gunshot wound. Upon his release, Willis will be charged with aggravated robbery. Washington and Malveaux are both being held by Lumberton police on aggravated robbery charges. Washington also faces a kidnapping charge.

*** and ***

One would think that a story of this woman’s courage and quick thinking which ultimately led to the capture of three violent serial robbers would be a big story that would catch the attention of mainstream media. However, it has not. At the time this article was published, there were only eight reports of this incident (https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sclient=psy- ab&q=woman+shoots+robber+lumberton+texas&oq=woman+shoots+robber+lumberton+texas& gs_l=hp.3…18800.21573.1.22579.10.10.0.0.0.6.872.3850.0j3j2j2j0j2j1.10.0…0.0…1c.1.8.psy-ab.boc1zkCf2Rw&pbx=1& bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.45107431,d.b2I&fp=f541d26e5940a762&biw=1366&bih=664) , all which include local media outlets, local conservative political websites, a forum, a blog and an individual’s Facebook page, who happens to be the brother-in-law of the first woman who was robbed.

However, when a 4-year-old accidentally shoots a 6-year-old, the media is sure to exploit it everywhere, with more than 17 pages (https://www.google.com/#q=4+year+old+shot&hl=en&ei=hUFnUfjlCoeU2wWygIH4CQ&start=0&sa=N&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.& bvm=bv.45107431,d.b2I&fp=f541d26e5940a762&biw=1366&bih=664) of stories covering the incident, including many mainstream media outlets.

In addition, the big story reported by local media seems to be that the police caught these criminals, giving very little, if any, credit to the woman who actually shot one of them, which ultimately resulted in the apprehension of all three.

Is there bias in media reporting which compliments an anti-gun agenda? Voice your opinions below.

*** end quote ***

Sure there IS a big anti-gun bias.

“Victim disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” — T.D. Melrose

“God created men and women, but Sam Colt made them equal!” Quote inspired by Sam Colt

Wishing that the world wasn’t a dangerous place will do nothing but increase the body count.

Capital punishment doesn’t seem to deter bad behavior, armed victims seem to put a big crimp in it. Not mention a big hole in a vital body part. I recommend that women aim just below the center of mass. Let the recoil bring it up to the kill zone.

If a kick there hurts, imagine getting it blown away.

That should solve the problem very quickly.

Note that not everyone has to be packing. Just enough so that it turns a “sure thing” into “risky business”.

This year’s Holocaust Memorial Day will focus on the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, which took place 70 years ago. The uprising was the largest single revolt by Jews during the Holocaust.

Among those who were to be honored with lighting one of six memorial flames at the official state ceremony was Peretz Hochman, who fought in the Polish uprising in Warsaw that followed the ghetto uprising.

Take a minute a read of what one man did.

“…if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” -Churchill, The Second World War, vol. 1, The Gathering Storm (London: Cassell, 1948, 272, on the British guarantee to Poland in Spring 1939.

Three minutes of simple wisdom on “gun control” aka “victim disarmament”!

Victim Disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” — T.D. Melrose

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . .”
— Alexander Solzhenitsyn

“Yes. In the end, you will walk out. Because 100,000 Englishmen simply cannot control 350 million Indians, if those Indians refuse to cooperate.” — movie Gandhi (1983)

Gun Owners must just “refuse to cooperate”!

GUNS: Common in mass shootings is the shooter is a nut!

Guns, Psychopaths, Training, and Left Wing Bluster by Bill O’Connell on August 28, 2012

*** begin quote ***

No, what is common in these mass shootings is that the shooter is a nut job. Page was a white supremacist crackpot; Jared Loughner in Tucson was known to be off his rocker for at least six years before the shooting, which by the way made it illegal to buy a gun but the gun laws didn’t stop him; the Colorado movie shooter was also seeing mental health professionals; in the Virginia Tech shooting, it was the same story, but in our PC world they couldn’t force him to get counseling. Nowhere in her article, nor anywhere else in the main stream media do they talk about the real problem: figuring out how to keep dangerous psychopaths off the street before they snap and kill someone.

*** end quote ***

Yes, guns are just tools.

And, there’s never a kop around when you need them.

And, to conclude the argument: “God made man and woman; Sam Colt made them equal.” — anonymous

Bloomberg Confirms: One Dead, Bystanders Accidentally Shot By Police In Workplace Shooting

In the gunfire on the street between Jeffrey Johnson and the NYPD officers, seven men and two women are said to have been hit, all are likely to survive their injuries.

On one private club / gun range I frequent, the Range Safety Officer (and, there has to be one on duty for the range to be open) is required by club policy to announce “LEO on the line” so that those on the line can retire to safety. And, the backup Assistant Range Safety Officer comes to the line to observe the LEO or LEOs on the line. Note the club’s ONLY THREE accidents have been when LEOs were involved. A regular member is ejected and loses his deposit if they or their guest violates a safety rule.

Further, most gun owners know that the cops don’t practice enough to maintain proficiency. Unlike the Marines and the Military Police who practice a lot.

So why are we surprise when civilians get hurt when the kops “protect and serve”?

GUNS: Would Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia say the same thing about “free speech”?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/07/29/scalia-opens-door-for-gun-control-legislation/

Scalia opens door for gun-control legislation, extends slow burning debate

*** begin quote ***

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said Sunday the Second Amendment leaves open the possibility of gun-control legislation, adding to what has become a slow-boiling debate on the issue since the Colorado movie theater massacre earlier this month.

Scalia, one of the high court’s most conservative justices, said on “Fox News Sunday” that the majority opinion in the landmark 2008 case of District of Columbia v. Heller stated the extent of gun ownership “will have to be decided in future cases.”

“We’ll see,” he said.

*** end quote ***

Now imagine if he said “free speech” legislation and “we’ll see”?

The Press and the Liberal would excoriate him.

Are there no “problems” with Free Speech? No KKK. No porn. No seven forbidden words. No lies on TV. No political promises, forgotten immediately upon election. Has no one died as a results of these? I think they have.

Free Speech has issues. But, we don’t throw away the Principle at the hint of trouble!

Gun deaths don’t come anywhere near the totals of military and civilian deaths in the UnConstitutional “wars” overseas we find ourselves ensnared. Nowhere near the total of abortions. Nowhere near car accidents.

So, humbly, I suggest that Scalia is wrong. Flat out wrong. Remember one word “The Genocide Prevention Right”. The Gooferment can’t kill armed citizens without consequence.

Aurora’s Strict Gun Laws Didn’t Prevent Shooting, But If One Law-Abiding Person In The Theater Had Been Carrying One…
By Ron Meyer
July 21, 2012

*** begin quote ***

Purdue student and Young America’s Foundation Intern Scholar Hillary Cherry provides her thoughts on the Colorado shooting, stressing the importance of protecting our Second Amendment rights:

A masked gunman opened fire yesterday on one of the 3,700 midnight showings of The Dark Knight Rises, leaving 12 dead, 50 injured, and one in custody. Liberals everywhere are wasting no time to use this massacre in an effort to push gun control and gut the Second Amendment.

Mayor Bloomberg asks the Obama administration for stricter gun laws following Colorado shooting. Comedian DL Hughley tweeted, “Aurora is 13yrs and 13 miles from Columbine! Since the 60s over 500,000 ppl have bn killed by guns in the US we have no right 2 b shocked!”

How will stricter gun laws bring an end to criminals having guns, when the laws against murder have not been able to stop them from killing innocent people?

Currently in Aurora, Colorado, where the shooting took place, it is already unlawful to carry a concealed “dangerous weapon,” discharge firearms, unless by law enforcement on duty or on shooting range, and have loaded firearm in motor vehicle.

Yet these laws were unable to stop James Holmes.

*** end quote ***

The lessons of Columbine, Virginia Tech, and now Aurora is that people must be allowed, able, and prepared to defend themselves.

Period, end of story.

The Dead Old White Guys’ wisdom was to enshrine that. We are stupidly ignorant of what makes our species thrive and cooperate — when each is a “sovereign” we have peace.

Argh!

Specialization is for insects.” — Lazarus Long (Robert A Heinlein)

GUNS: Politicians and bureaucrats harass gun owners for oversights

http://www.wnd.com/2012/01/states-still-gun-for-unsuspecting-firearm-owners/

KNOX GUN-RIGHTS REPORT

States still ‘gun’ for unsuspecting firearm owners
by Jeff Knox

*** begin quote ***

A decision to carry a gun for defense brings with it a raft of responsibilities. The defensive mindset that should accompany carrying – situational awareness and avoidance strategies, competence with the firearm and the moral implications of using deadly force – needs to extend to the legal and political environment as well. It must be understood that even a clearly justified defensive use of a firearm – which saves your life – can easily cost your home and life savings. Deadly force is serious business. No one should take the decision lightly, and threat recognition needs to include recognizing the threat posed by state power – particularly in states like New York.

*** end quote ***

We don’t need “State” or “Local” Gooferments playing “gotcha” with responsible gun owners.

Crimes committed with, or without, a gun deserve restitution. It may be harsher than what we do today. Actions have consequences. Oversights that harm no one should be ignored.

How did we lose so many of our rights?

Argh!

GUNS: An old vote on the RKBA

http://www.usatoday.com/news/quickquestion/2007/november/popup5895.htm

LINK FROM PETER G.

My reaction:

I added my vote to “individual right” crowd. 10M votes.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? How will you resist when they come to take YOU and yours to the camps?

Can’t happen here? Tell that to the Japanese Americans in 1941 and the various American Indian tribes. I’d say you could tell it to David Koresh, the other 54 Branch Davidians, and their 21 children, BUT, (and there is always a BIG butt), they’re all dead. After the Gooferment came for them.

Argh!
fjohn

p.s., it’s an old poll, BUT, (and there is always a BIG butt), I have no doubt that Holder still believes it’s not a right and that USA Today would too.

———- Forwarded message ———-

This is apparently a new and current polling effort by USA today. Very simple to do.

Own a Gun? Please Keep This Moving

Guess they were not happy with the poll results the first time so USA Today is running another one. Vote now.

Attorney General, Eric Holder, has already said this is one of his major issues. He does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms. This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro-gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court’s accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.

Here’s what you need to do:

First – vote on this one. Second – launch it to other folks and have THEM vote – then we will see if the results get published.
