After reading the actual indictment, the firearms purchased by Smith were all semi-auto pistols. There were four Glocks, a Walther, a Taurus, and a Smith & Wesson. Notably, one was listed as a “Glock G42 .390 caliber pistol.” I can’t say I’m surprised that no one caught that little error.

Mask Mandates Do Not Save Lives
By Spike Hampson

Although some studies have concluded that masks help stop the spread of COVID-19, usually they have failed to replicate real-world situations.  A common approach is to evaluate the effectiveness of mask material at stopping the expulsion or intake of the aerosols presumed to be the airborne carriers of the virus.  Useful information, perhaps, but at this stage, what we need to know is whether the widespread use of masks is measurably reducing the risk of death from the disease.  To continue requiring the use of masks makes sense only if there is compelling data that death rates are lower for people who wear masks than it is for people who do not.

Take Control of Your Online Presence

Beyond that, consider safeguarding your own online privacy if you haven’t done so already. To encrypt your text messages and keep them from becoming data mining fodder, download the Signal or Telegram app and/or use a virtual private network (VPN) on your desktop, laptop and mobile devices.

Telegram has grown in popularity as many who have been banned on other social media platforms have migrated there. In addition to encrypting your text messages, the app also allows you to subscribe to channels. Read-only messages (although some also have the ability to comment) are sent to your phone from any channel you subscribe to.

Lastly, if you care about privacy and free speech, stop using any and all Google products, including its search engine, browser, email service, Google docs, Google Home devices, Fitbit and Android phones. There are alternatives to all of them.

For search, check out DuckDuckGo and SwissCows. For a browser, consider Brave or Opera. From a security perspective, Opera is far superior to Google Chrome and even includes a free VPN service. For encrypted email, sign up with ProtonMail, which is based in Switzerland. As for online document sharing, Digital Trends has published an article listing a number of alternatives to Google Docs.

I think this is an excellent list of alternatives.

And, I’m on many if not all of his suggestions.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Gooferment hit list of supposedly anti-vaxers

Friday, March 19, 2021

https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2021/03/17/digital-anti-hate-group-puts-dr-mercola-on-hit-list.aspx

‘Digital Anti-Hate’ Group Puts Dr. Mercola on Hit List
Analysis by Dr. Joseph Mercola
March 17, 2021

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

  • One of the frontrunners in the comprehensive attack on freedom of speech online is a U.K.-based group with opaque funding called the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH)
  • The CCDH has been one of the most vocal organizations calling for the deplatforming of anyone who might have the ability to influence public opinion about vaccines
  • The CCDH recently posted a hit list on Twitter, listing the “Top 10 anti-vaxxers” it wants digital platforms to eradicate, including yours truly and the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), which worked with the U.S. Congress to establish the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act in 1986
  • March 2, 2021, Facebook complied with CCDH’s request, removing NVIC’s account. CCDH is also calling on Facebook to eliminate NVIC from Instagram, which Facebook owns
  • While you wait for a decentralized, censorship-free internet, consider ditching all social media networks that erode our civil liberties, and to join those that promote freedom of speech instead

*** begin quote ***

The irony of an “anti-hate” group posting a hit list — the only purpose of which is to seed public outrage and hate against those listed — did not escape unnoticed, and that’s part of the good news. More and more people are indeed starting to see the 1984-style double-think propaganda for what it is.

As pointed out by one Twitter follower: “You’ve posted what appears to be a digital hit list. Do you not see anything ironic about this considering your brand is ‘countering digital hate’?” “Project much?” said another. A third replied back to the CCDH saying “You should be on this list,” and a fourth said “It appears that by the word ‘hate’ you include uncomfortable truths.”

Anti vaxxers list

I was aware of the NVIC.  But this gives me a nice list to include in my research.

Streaming, shopping and delivery: Why COVID may have changed our habits forever

In my case, I’m lazy and, as a child, my sainted Mother used to drag me to go shopping many Saturdays.  Hence, I HATE it.  So for as much as like the power of Big Tech, I’m a keyboard warrior when it comes to shopping.

No going back for me unless I’m dragged into it.

*** begin quote ***

Andrew Cuomo completely mismanaged the COVID crisis. His ineptitude caused the deaths of thousands of elderly. He ordered nursing homes to accept COVID positive patients and sounded very crass

“Older people, vulnerable people, are going to die from this virus,” Cuomo added. “That is going to happen despite whatever you do, with all our progress as a society, we can’t keep everyone alive. Older people are more vulnerable.  That is a fact that is not going to change.”

Worse, he lied about it.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s top aide confessed privately this week that the administration suppressed the true COVID toll in the homes. She also offered an apology — not to the thousands of New York families who needlessly lost loved ones thanks to her boss’s mismanagement but to Democratic lawmakers put in a difficult “political position with the Republicans” by the coverup.

Then he became dismissive about the elderly deaths

“New York State, we’re only about 28%, only, but we’re below the national average in number of deaths in nursing homes — but who cares?” he asked. “Thirty-three, twenty-eight, died in a hospital, died in a nursing home, they died.”

*** end quote ***

Personally, I am surprised that the coverup of the NY nursing home deaths hasn’t drawn its own criticism.

Isn’t the saying “It’s not the crime, but the coverup”?

AND, I’m also absolutely flabbergasted that there has NOT been and avalanche of wrongful death suits against all involved.  Guess the ambulance chasers are afraid of reprisals from the politicians and bureaucrats!

*** begin quote ***

FRESNO, Calif. — On March 10, 2021, Jatinderieet “Jyoti” Sihota, 34, of Selma, was arrested on a federal indictment charging her with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and mail fraud for the submission of over $790,000 in fraudulent crop insurance claims, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced. The indictment was unsealed today following her arrest.

According to court records, from at least November 2013 through September 2016, Sihota controlled her family’s farms in Fresno and Tulare Counties that produced table grapes, plums, and other crops. The crops were sold through fruit brokers in California’s Central Valley to supermarket chains and other third-party buyers.

Throughout this period, Sihota and others caused her family’s farms to obtain federally backed crop insurance policies through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency’s Federal Crop Insurance Program. They then submitted fraudulent insurance claims for crop losses due to excessive heat, rain, and other reasons that did not actually occur.

Sihota and others, including individuals at the produce brokers through which the crops were sold, altered records to misrepresent the varieties, quantities, and other information regarding the crops that were sold and submitted the records to the insurance program to support the fraudulent claims. These misrepresentations established sufficient crop losses to obtain insurance payments. When the insurance loss adjusters contacted Sihota and others to confirm the accuracy of the representations, they confirmed that the representations were accurate and complete, but in actuality, they were not.

Why is the Gooferment involved in “crop insurance”?

At the very least, there should be a insurance company in front of the Gooferment!

“Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago’s death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to.” Colonel Jessep in A Few Good Men played by Jack Nicholson

First, I am not an anti-vax-er.  I have just taken the first of two shingles vaxes, plain to get my pneumonia vax updated next month, and have had all the childhood vaxes. BUT, (and there is always a BIG butt), I NEVER get the flu vax, and in general I’m very aware that vaxes are a tradeoff of risk versus reward.

For example, the polio vax is a no brainer.  I have personally seen first hand the devestation that polio can cause. (RIP cousin William!)  So the “tradeoff” is very lopsided.

For example, the flu vax is questionable.  It’s usually at best 30% effective and often usless if the drug companies don’t anticipate the right strain. So to me, the “tradeoff” is also very lopsided in the opposite direction.

Now every decision with regard to vaxes is very personal.  There’s no “right” or “wrong”.

That being said, now every bit of information on the vaxes is POLITICAL!

The dikw (i.e., data, information, knowledge, wisdom) about them is based by the “narrative” or political pov of the source.  And that should NOT be permitted.

The data should be reported straightforwardly and as accurately as possible. Facts are not up to discussion.  “Today, the CDC reports X fatalities.” Should not require a long investigation of the causes.  The whole “died with covid” versus “died from covid” or even worse “died from what we guess is covid” or even worse “died from what we think might be covid” is completely unacceptable.

Let’s get some real journalists like Sharyl Attkisson https://sharylattkisson.com to give us the straight scoop.

The FBI Should Stop Attacking Encryption and Tell Congress About All the Encrypted Phones It’s Already Hacking Into
BY JOE MUL

*** begin quote ***

The first step is to start keeping track of what’s happening. Congress should require that federal law enforcement agencies create detailed audit logs and screen recordings of digital searches. And we agree with Upturn that agencies nationwide should collect and publish aggregated information about how many phones were searched, and whether those searches involved warrants (with published warrant numbers), or so-called consent searches. Agencies should also disclose what tools were used for data extraction and analysis.

Congress should also consider placing sharp limits on when consent searches can take place at all. In our January blog post, we suggest that such searches be banned entirely in high-coercion settings like traffic stops, and suggest some specific limits that should be set in less-coercive settings.

This is an occurrence that’s getting more frequent and more annoying in recent years, thanks to similar Google shutdowns of Google Play Music, Cloud Print, Inbox, Works with Nest, the ongoing Hangouts situation, and many others. That’s to say nothing of the crazy history of this payment service, which used to be Google Wallet, then Android Pay, then Google Pay, and now it’s a totally different Google Pay. Just like we’ve been through a million times now, some people won’t think this is a big deal because their use case is supported on the new product, while for other people, the new Google Pay will be a much bigger deal, because their use cases will be ripped-out from under them and no longer supported.

The worst part of it all is that, like the move from Google Music to YouTube Music, there is no reward at the end of this transition. Google is blowing stuff up and making users switch apps and set things up again only because of internal politics and infrastructure concerns. There aren’t any great new features to sell people on—it’s just Google’s constantly shifting priorities reaching into your life to remind you, “This is what being a Google user is like now. You’d better keep up!” It gets exhausting.

There is one new feature in the new Google Pay. I swear I’m not making this up: new Google Pay is yet another Google messaging app! Once you add someone via their phone number, the three options are “Pay,” “Request,” and “Message.” The “Message” option will bring up a full messaging app with the usual back and forth replies, push notifications, and emoji support. You can even start a group chat!

Luckily, I never got into Google Pay. And, I dropped Google Fi for Altice’s unlimited mobile offering.

YMMV

PRODUCTIVITY: Low tech sometimes is better

I learned a long time ago when being a “patient advocate” that MOST times the best way to communicate with the “medicine men” aka modern day doctors was to use the fax machine.  Now I “know” that HIPPA prevents them from using plain old email; some have portals that they can communicate through, but nothing is as easy as a fax machine.  And, for some reason, perhaps because it’s not used a lot by patients, it seems to get special attention.  For example, when I call to get a prescription refill and jump through all the hoops, sometimes I get my refill.  I never get a call back to say that it’s been sent in; some docs actually tell you via recorded message that they ain’t calling you back. Argh!  (It’s like the unmonitored email boxes that email important info but you’re not important enough to take your reply. Argh!)

My fax is $10 per month and works flawlessly.  I get nothing from them other Han good service YMMV.

So just today, I had another opportunity to show myself the value of this low tech solution.  I had to go to the radiology lab again, never mind why my first visit was screwed up, and, on the prior visit they gave me their SEVEN page form to fill out at home.  Being a high tech guy, I scanned it in and did it “online”.  But, I forgot to print out the results. So today, when I arrived at the lab, I asked for their fax number, bridged my computer to my cell phone, and got my fax to send the complete form into the lab.  Problem solved.

So I recommend keeping this particular “arrow” in your quiver!
