Edwards backs mandatory preventive care

TIPTON, Iowa – Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards said on Sunday that his universal health care proposal would require that Americans go to the doctor for preventive care.
“It requires that everybody be covered. It requires that everybody get preventive care,” he told a crowd sitting in lawn chairs in front of the Cedar County Courthouse. “If you are going to be in the system, you can’t choose not to go to the doctor for 20 years. You have to go in and be checked and make sure that you are OK.”
He noted, for example, that women would be required to have regular mammograms in an effort to find and treat “the first trace of problem.” Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, announced earlier this year that her breast cancer had returned and spread.
Edwards said his mandatory health care plan would cover preventive, chronic and long-term health care. The plan would include mental health care as well as dental and vision coverage for all Americans.
“The whole idea is a continuum of care, basically from birth to death,” he said.

I thought Hillarycare was bad enough. Then, come Edwardscare that makes her look “moderate”. This might be enough to to send the patriots to the slit trenches.

Doesn’t anybody ‘get it’ that we already have national healthcare? No one gets turned down when they need medical attention in this country, and then if they cannot pay, they cannot pay! And guess who does pay? Me and you…those who are fully covered or who can afford to pay the very high fees. The extra money they get out of us goes to the hospitals and doctors to make up for what they didn’t get from those without insurance. And if you don’t believe that, then how can they stay in business…hmmmm? So what would change with some type of ‘national healthcare’ is that our taxes would go up to pay for yet another ‘entitlement’! And that won’t mean our premiums and fees will go down, so we will still be paying for everyone else anyway! And why do you suppose that is? Because if we give more money to these tax-grubbing politicians they will just spend it on other things, just like they did with our Social Security money. Whoever might be reading this, don’t let those into office who are promoting any kind of national healthcare, it is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
