*** begin quote ***

Wait until you hear the new rules the IRS is set to impose on a wide variety of organizations in September 2016 if all goes as planned. For example, forbidden “electioneering” will include so much as the mention of a candidate’s name on a website. We get into the details in this episode.

The IRS is a corrupt criminal organization that’s greedy for power over “We, The Sheeple”.

Remember Lois Lerner. You should you’re maying her ever month for “her service”.

Who she was working for is in doubt, but one thing is for sure is that it was NOT the Taxpayer.

Argh!

Here Tom exposes another over reach!

POLITICAL: New meaning for “No justice; no peace”

Friday, March 25, 2016

Will Hillary get charged, or what?
By Charles Gasparino
March 20, 2016 | 8:00pm

*** begin quote ***

FBI sources say he has no backing from President Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch to recommend charges against the former secretary, since a Clinton presidency may be the best chance to preserve the Obama legacy.

That leaves Comey in a bind: Does he do what is politically expedient and deny the reality that Clinton’s email server activities violated the law, or follow the evidence to wherever it takes him?

Here’s hoping he uses the same standards against Clinton as he used against Stewart and Quattrone.

*** end quote ***

If she is not charged, then this is the end of the USA. It would strip away the illusion of equal justice under the law. “No justice; no peace” would take on a new meaning.

MONEY: Negative real rate of return for the LAST FORTY YEARS!

German Response to Negative Interest Rates: Safe Deposit Boxes
By Paul-Martin Foss
Carl Menger Center
March 19, 2016

*** begin quote ***

The Japanese response to negative interest rates was to buy personal safes. The German response is to pull money out of bank accounts and stick it in safe deposit boxes. Both are perfectly understandable reactions to the prospect of having to pay interest to a bank for holding deposits.

It is particularly interesting in Germany, where the Bundesbank a few years ago admitted that the average real rate of return on savings deposits has been negative for nearly the past 40 years.

Now that nominal rates have turned negative too, the facade of savings accounts as a safe place to park money to earn a little bit of income has finally been ripped away.

*** end quote ***

Wow, I stumbled across this when I was reading. What an admission!

I “know” that the FED (The Federal Reserve Bank is a misnomer. IT ain’t “federal”. It reserves nothing. And, it ain’t a “bank”. It is a private cartel of the elite banks run for their benefit and that of the entrenched politicians.) runs the printing press and adds electronic digits as it “needs” to. That continually robs “We, The Sheeple” of their purchasing power.

Now with “nominal interest rates” near zero, I would think that people would be waking up to the scam.

This statement really rubs everyone’s nose in it. And, like <synonym for excrement>, it’s a very unpleasant experience.

So what is Joe Sixpack to do?

Clearly “savings” are being silently, quietly, and invisibly taxed aka stolen away.

You can’t even calculate how much of Joe Sixpack’s earnings are being stolen.

The sadder part is that Joe doesn’t even realize that he’s been robbed.

Argh!

Even most sad about the whole thing is that all the Joe Sixpacks are suffering from the same lack of realization.

Argh!

Buy assets, bullion, or even bullets. Anything to preserve value.

GOLDBUG: A universal gram based gold currency is what the world needs

Reviewing The New Case for Gold
Bob Moriarty
Mar 15, 2016

*** begin quote ***

… … what we need is for all countries to accept a gram based gold currency unit instead of gold being tied to anything. The financial problems of the world today are caused by fake money and the solution is not another fiat currency that no one understands but real money that you can touch and feel and hold. Gold fills the bill, SDRs do not.

*** end quote ***

Imagine how easy it would be for commerce and travelers.

And, no more controversy about exchange rates, “currency manipulation”, and “racing to devalue”.

The Tower of Babel says that humanity was cursed with different languages. Maybe we were cursed with different currencies and that is really the thing that keeps us separate. And, under the proverbial thumb of the Bankers.

Of course, that will never happen.

“Honest money” is the friend of the poor, senior citizens on fixed incomes, and anyone trying to save! For retirements, a house, a child’s education.

Remember that “Cross of Gold” speech? How much better of would be those Farmers if their “wealth” hadn’t been stolen by the Gooferment with it’s inflation, “price supports”, and regulations?

While there’s no way to know for sure, it couldn’t be as bad as the “hidden tax” of the inflation of the US dollar. It has lost 99% of its value in the last 40 years.

Argh!

And, don’t forget the the current 18T+ national debt and the guesstimated 200T+ in unfunded liabilities that our posterity will have to deal with!!!

Gold is the standard.

Family Laments Shooting Death of Teen Burglar By Homeowner
Posted by Bob Owens on March 15, 2016 at 12:33 pm

*** begin quote ***

For our civil society to remain intact, we must resist attempts by opportunistic politicians and activist groups to insist that criminals be treated as the most important members of society, instead of the drain on civil culture that they clearly are and have been. If we allow criminals to assume that their lives matter more than that of law-abiding, contributing members of society, then our entire culture and way of life if at risk.

*** end quote ***

I’m a pro-life pro-choice little L libertarian.

It’s never “right” to initiate force against anyone.

The right to property is a fundamental right. Our property represents how we have spent our time and the choices we’ve made.

This criminal was just that. Someone, who just stole, with out regard to “rights” or what was “Right”.

I agree that the tactical decision made by the shooter was “dumb” and could have turned out badly.

But, we need to think clearly who are the “victims” of “violence”.

It’s not the criminals.

RANT: Is an Amazon “oversold” like an Airline “bump”?

Sunday, March 20, 2016

This morning I was thinking about my fiancée’s recent experience with an Amazon purchase.

Background, she ordered a “new” (antique!) Blackberry phone. All well and good. It “disappeared”. Even though USPS reported it as delivered to her door.

Yeah, I know all about “porch pirates”. And, was perfectly fine until this morning.

Then, when safely under my tin foil hat, my Conspiracy Theorist bent came to the forefront and began asking questions.

Interesting that when she ordered it, Amazon said they had five for sale. When she called to complain about the missing delivery, the representative offered a refund OR A REPLACEMENT. She was told to wait until the follow ing Monday to make it official. When she did, “Amazon is no longer selling these”. (a polite FU! imho)

So as a certifiable Conspiracy Theorist, perhaps like the airlines who “bump” flights that they deliberately “overbook”, I suspected that maybe Amazon “oversold” this items.

Now, I’m an Amazon Prime-er, and I order lots of stuff. (18 items alone in 2016!) And, I have NEVER fallen prey to a “porch pirate”. That day, I got a delivery that USPS put in a locker. The next day, Sunday, I got a USPS delivery to the door.

Argh!

Now, maybe Amazon oversold it, realized that, and decided “who do we screw”?

Maybe Amazon has a label to the USPS that says “Lose this package”. And, USPS plays along.

Why would USPS do that? Collision with Amazon; lest Amazon decide to bribe Congress that it want to deliver mail. Perhaps, even Amazon pays more for the “lose this package” service?

Argh!

I urged her to grip to Amazon a lot louder, the USPS, and any Gooferment entity that would listen.

Isn’t interesting that the same phone is available at Blackberry for 100$ more — no problem.

So why didn’t Amazon just buy one there and send to her to keep the Customer happy? Yeah, now it’s all about money!

I wonder if other people have had similar experiences.

Argh!

You’re right. I don’t trust ANYONE or ANY Crony Capitalist corporation.

I’m sure the US Gooferment is going to rush to investigate itself.

Argh!

INSPIRATIONAL: Climate Scientists don’t really understand the mechanics of what happens

Saturday, March 19, 2016

http://tomwoods.com/podcast/ep-613-climate-change-what-does-science-really-say/

Ep. 613 Climate Change: What Does Science Really Say?
9th March 2016
Tom Woods

To call any aspect of the climate change orthodoxy into question is to risk being condemned as “anti-science.” But are the arguments and computer models of the so-called mainstream really so rock solid?

About the GuestChip Knappenberger is assistant director of the Center for the Study of Science at the Cato Institute. He has over 20 years of experience in climate research and public outreach, and has published numerous papers in the major atmospheric science journals on global warming, hurricanes, precipitation changes, weather and mortality, and Greenland ice melt, among many other areas.

Articles Mentioned
“The Case against a Carbon Tax,” by Chip Knappenberger, Robert Murphy, and Patrick J. Michaels
“Climate Models and Climate Reality: A Closer Look at a Lukewarming World,” by Patrick J. Michaels and Chip Knappenberger

# – # – # – # – #

What I found interesting was the following points:

  • Politicians and bureaucrats want a crisis; even if it’s not understood.
  • Media hypes the outrageous “solutions” aka “it bleeds, it leads”.
  • It’s a good possibility that the activities of man influences local weather. Maybe even global climate.
  • Warming maybe a good thing for humanity (i.e., wine grapes in England; farms in Greenland; a thriving Roman Empire).
  • It may be a 100 years before the sea level rises 18 inches. Humanity adapts to all sorts of “stuff”.
  • Can’t do much to deprive poor people of electricity which is carbon based.
  • Maybe radical “solutions” aren’t needed.
  • Climate Scientists don’t really understand the mechanics of what happens.

What I found inspirational was the quiet reasoned discourse about a controversial subject without rancor. I found that I could accept this. Probably because it was reasonable and reasoned.

YMMV.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Overpriced Drugs?

Hospital-Acquired Infections, Dangerous Tests and Other Medical Cover-Ups

Drug Companies Siphon Tax Dollars for Dangerous, Useless, Overpriced Drugs

As if it wasn’t enough that you pay with your health for the drug industry’s lackadaisical approach to side effects — both by their downplaying the risk of death or serious injury in their ads, and by their filing adverse event reports that are useless for predicting risk to other patients — you also pay for their crimes with your tax dollars.

Sovaldi, a hepatitis C drug made by Gilead was under investigation for 18 months by the Senate Finance Committee. In the end, the Committee decided that the price of the drug — $1,000 per pill, or $84,000 per treatment — “did not reflect the cost of research and development and that Gilead cared about ‘revenue’ not ‘affordability and accessibility,’” the Epoch Times writes.

In 2014 alone, Medicare and Medicaid shelled out more than $5 BILLION for Sovaldi and another hepatitis C drug called Harvoni.

Writing for the New York Times, columnist Nicholas Kristof notes that in the year 2015, the drug industry “spent $272,000 in campaign donations per member of Congress … to bar the government from bargaining for drug prices in Medicare. That amounts to a $50 billion annual gift to pharmaceutical companies.”

*** end quote ***

Sorry but this is what you get when the Gooferment picks winners and losers.

Unfortunately, when folks pay for their own medical care. it may hurt in the pocketbook, but the bills get careful scrutiny.

Waste, fraud, and abuse are REGULARLY reported in Gooferment “programs”. None more wasteful than “medicine”. I remember reading an article that asserted a huge percentage of “medical spending” in Florida was due to FRAUD.

Sigh!

The only way to cure that is to incentivize the patients to spend wisely. How can we do that? Make them pay 1%. Ever seen seniors look at an early bird special dinner check? Vultures would admire their attention to detail.

Argh!

Doubt it will ever happen. Seniors vote!

RANT: Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good

Sunday, March 13, 2016

FROM SNOPES

http://www.snopes.com/glurge/lifelessons.asp

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio
“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I’ve ever written.
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8. It’s OK to get angry.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ‘In five years, will this matter?’
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time some time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.
35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. 44. Yield.
45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

RANT: YOU’VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

Saturday, March 12, 2016

from an email “chain letter” forward to me by a young relative

*** begin quote ***

“IF YOU CAN’T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU’VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM”
WRITTEN BY A 21 YEAR OLD FEMALE. Wow, this girl has a great plan! Love the last thing
she would do – the best.

This was written by a 21 yr. old female who gets it. It’s her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX

PUT ME IN CHARGE . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I’d do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your “home” will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22-inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.”

Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary.

If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be “demeaning” and ruin their “self esteem,” consider that it wasn’t that long ago that taking someone else’s money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people’s mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND

While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be
a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

*** end quote ***

Makes sense to me!

CHINESE COOK DIES FROM TOXIC WASTE DUMPED AT PARKING LOT

*** begin quote ***

BEIJING (AP) — Police in a northern Chinese city have broken up a major toxic waste case that came to light when a restaurant owner died after inhaling poisonous gases coming from his kitchen drain, state media said Monday.

Police discovered that the operator of a parking lot near the restaurant in Baoding city had allowed factories to dump highly toxic waste into its drain pipes for illegal gains, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

The parking lot operator allowed a total of more than 3,400 tons of toxic waste to be dumped between August 2014 and May 2015, Xinhua said.

Sounds like murder!

And how did they think they were going to get away with this?

Lies, Damn Lies, & BLS Statistics

So, we have the BLS reporting tremendous job growth over the first two months of 2016, while actual payroll tax data and actual corporate layoff announcements showing little or no growth. Who to believe? Wages are dropping. The number of hours worked is dropping. The number of part-time jobs is soaring. The number of self-employed Ebay sellers is going up. Retail sales are terrible. Polls show most people think the economy is on the wrong track. Corporate profits and all economic indicators indicate recession. Establishment politicians are being tarred and feathered. Do you believe the facts or do you believe the government manufactured propaganda, propagated by their corporate MSM mouthpieces, and peddled by the Wall Street criminal bankers?

He correctly calls it the “The Bureau of Lies & Scams”!

Use the tax withholding data — number of people paying taxes and how much they pay — and there is no need for fudging (i.e., adjustments).

Over time all the “seasonal effects” will sort themselves out.

Unfortunately, “We, The Sheeple” are fooled by all the “adjustments”.

But you just have to look with your own eyes. Just yesterday, I rode by several half empty shopping centers and several completely empty one. Add all the stand alone sites that are empty and available!

Oregon Legislature Repeals Laws of Supply & Demand
By RANDAL O’TOOLE

*** begin quote ***

Buoyed by its success, the legislature yesterday passed a law legalizing inclusionary zoning, that is, forcing homebuilders to sell a certain percentage of their products below cost. This will also lead them to build fewer homes and to sell the market-rate homes they do build for higher prices to offset their losses on the “affordable” homes. In other words, this law relies on the counterintuitive notion that making housing more expensive will make it more affordable.

Once again, the legislature is playing a balancing game. A few people will get–and be very grateful for–more affordable housing. Every other homebuyer and renter will end up paying more, but not enough more for them (the legislature hopes) to complain about it.

The Oregonian, for example, accompanied my article criticizing the urban-growth boundary with a photo of a man who enjoys “affordable” housing provided by the city of Bend that was funded by taxing all other new homes in the city. Where are the photos of the people having to pay higher taxes or who can’t afford to buy a new home because of that tax?

*** begin quote ***

In last night’s debate (March 3, 2016), Trump suffered blows at the hands of moderators and candidates alike, and didn’t respond well.

*** end quote ***

Good point by Tom Woods about the “open letter” hit on Trump by all the “experts” (ex spurts) and where their advice and expenditures have delivered us. Hell in a handbasket with all that “great” advice. Argh!

If life was fair, then the politicians, bureaucrats, and experts that give us these massive failures would slink silently into the shadows and be quiet. But like certain economists, weather forecasters, and groundhogs, that have no shame when they are obviously WRONG, these same losers prattle even louder about what should be done.

While I am not a fan of any politician or political party, I do think, that Trump’s modest statements on “foreign policy” (i.e., leave Putin alone; the USA should not be in foreign wars; let’s take care of our vets), makes him, like the US dollar, the “prettiest horse at the glue factory”.

While all these dictators around the world are very bad people, who’s to say that getting rid of them will make things better. We have classic examples in Iraq, Libya, and Egypt. And, now the warmongers of both parties — HRC and the Republican New-Cons — want to try again in Syria. What a mess!

And, let’s not forget our crazy old man the “democratic socialist” who is advocating for the system that exterminated millions under Stalin, Mao, and many other examples. How he has any support at all is a testament to the lure of “free cheese”.

Argh!

The whole system is INSANE.

GUNS: Guns and selfies don’t mix

Sunday, March 6, 2016

Man taking selfies with gun fatally shoots himself, police say

*** begin quote ***

In Concrete, Washington, a 43-year-old man and his girlfriend were taking selfies while holding a gun.
Chief Chad Clark of the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to me that the couple had been taking the photos periodically throughout Sunday.

*** end quote ***

Stupidity abounds.

Add in a gun and the results are obvious.

First rule of firearms safety is that “every gun is loaded”. Even if you just “cleared” it, then you still ALWAYS keep it pointed in a safe direction.

It’s a tool.

And, for the same reason one doesn’t juggle running chainsaws, you don’t do stupid things with a gun!

Argh!

Make life hard for responsible gun owners.

POLITICAL: Corporations do not pay taxes

What Is the Fair Share of Taxes?
By Walter E. Williams
March 1, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Our demagogues also claim that corporations do not pay their fair share of taxes. The fact of the matter, which even leftist economists understand but might not publicly admit, is corporations do not pay taxes. An important subject area in economics, called tax incidence, says the entity upon whom a tax is levied does not necessarily bear the full burden of the tax. Some of the tax burdens can be shifted to another party. If a tax is levied on a corporation, and if the corporation hopes to survive, it will have one of three responses to that tax or some combination thereof. It will raise the price of its product, lower dividends or lay off workers. In each case, a flesh-and-blood person is made worse off. The important point is that a corporation is a legal fiction and as such does not pay taxes. As it turns out, corporations are merely tax collectors for the government.

*** end quote ***

I have known this ever since I took my first class in Corporate Finance. And heard it repeated over and over.

“Corporations are merely tax collectors; not taxpayers. They merely pass their costs along.” Lawrence Alan “Larry” Kudlow is an American economist, television personality, and newspaper columnist. August 26, 2014 0830 on WMAL Mornings on the Mall Brian Wilson and Larry O’Connor

But for some reason, “We, The Sheeple” don’t seem to understand.

Burger King goes to Canada. Drug Companies and Banks got to the Grand Caymans. Google and Apple store their cash in Ireland.

See a pattern here.

Like the beer trucks with signs on them “This vehicle pay $11,985 in taxes.” NONSENSE! The poor bloke who drinks the beer is paying those taxes.

Every can on beans you buy in the supermarket has hidden taxes build right into the purchase price. And, don’t get me started on “gas taxes for the roads”! Another fiction. Seen the roads lately? Where did all that money go? So every product delivered by a gas powered engine (i.e., plane; train; boat; truck) has a hidden gas tax that’s being paid for by “We, The Sheeple”.

So the correct corporate tax rate is ZERO, because only REAL people pay taxes.

Ask you favorite politician about that concept!

I’m sure you’ll be told “it’s more complicated that that.” It ain’t! Argh!

VETERANS: Senior VA execs get off scott free

Thursday, March 3, 2016

FROM Mike Berger’s March Bugle Blasts

Appeals judges reverse punishment for senior VA execs – source Military Times

*** begin quote ***

VA officials’ attempt to punish a pair of high-ranking executives over mismanagement issues has been knocked down by appeals judges who ruled the department’s other disciplinary moves have been too inconsistent to justify punishing those two. The news comes a month after Justice Department officials announced they would not charge the two women with any criminal activity, despite accusations from the IG the executives manipulated the hiring practice and unjustly pocketed about $400,000 in federal funds.

*** end quote ***

Argh!

The corruption in Gooferment and its inability to “police” itself is demonstration that it’s immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy.

INVESTING: Evaluate “tuition” as an ROI

Episode 02.20.16

Topic: How to Handle Student Loans Later in Life

# – # – # – # – #

No secret that I like Ric Edelman and I am a “client”.

He made what I thought was an interesting off-the-cuff observation with respect to “education” expense.

The caller was an older 50-ish woman who had a 20K$ student loan at less than 5% and wanted to pay it off. In delving into her circumstances, he found out that she was earning 45k per year after incurring that debt. And, he raved over the ROI.

Not sure that it’s that cut and dry, but I think it was an astute observation.

While she may have paid more than 20K$ for the “educational investment”, the decade, that she will be earning 45k annually, will earn 450K$. 450k/20k = ROI 22½. Roughly. Ignores the time value of money and that it was probably more than a 20k total investment. Ignore the opportunity cost of the time spent. Etc. Etc. Etc. But not bad for a radio show podcast.

And, also, importantly, that 20k$ loan NOT paid off should earn at least a ten year market average while preserving liquidity (i.e., the lady still has her twenty k if she needs it).

Many of the education “horror stories” reported in the media are from some very poor decisions. Picking some obscure specialties with no real market value and spending a few hundred thousand dollars that results in 100k to 200k of student loan debt is a recipe for disaster.

On 101.5 D&D show the other day, http://nj1015.com/tuition-and-wedding-costs-on-the-rise-stolen-bank-info-and-more-on-dd-today/ chatted about the cost of tuition and invited callers to tell their stories. Some of the tales were pretty interesting. The divided into two types — medical doctors with ½ million of debt and then “regular people”. Argh! Worst case: 200k$ debt for an ART DEGREE!

So this “national problem” is all about bad decisions amplified by poor Gooferment policy (i.e., cheap government insured loans at artificially low rates).

What to do?

Make “good decisions” about education ROI and the financing of that education.

Hold the politicians and bureaucrats accountable for the stupidity of these policies.

HARDWARE: Maybe a fix for WiFi’s poor performance?

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

http://fortune.com/2016/02/23/eero-home-networking-review/

Struggle with Wi-Fi speeds and coverage in your home? Eero has the answer.

*** begin quote ***

A year ago, startup Eero surfaced with a bold claim: It had developed a product that would fix Wi-Fi in our homes. Using a series of small white boxes, Eero would create a smart network capable of providing a consistent connection to Wi-Fi hungry devices throughout your home.

*** end quote ***

Steep price for a better experience.

One thing is for sure the current crop of wireless routers provided by ISPs are all no bargain.

I have FIOS, Optimum, and TWC. Gal pal has another optimum setup.

Performance is AT BEST less than perfect; in Gal Pal’s case almost unusable.

She is much less demanding and much more tolerant of the flaws than I am.

My standard is I pay to use it; not work around it, debug it, and reset things.

Argh!

Maybe I should go back to IT leadership as a career. At least, I might be able to fix the Customer experience?
