Surprise, the Mainstream Media is Wrong Again: Yes, Nullification Does Work

*** begin quote ***

You don’t have to dig into a history book to prove nullification works. I can prove it does with one word.

Weed.

In 1996, California voters approved Proposition 215, the Compassionate Use Act, authorizing the possession, cultivation, and use of cannabis (marijuana) for limited medical use.

The federal government claims the power to strictly enforce a total prohibition of marijuana. It makes no exception for medical purposes. Despite federal law, states have advanced the issue each year. This has happened in spite of a 2005 Supreme Court opinion supporting federal prohibition, and a relentless year-to-year increase in spending and enforcement efforts by the federal government.

Today, despite ongoing attempts to enforce federal prohibition, 21 states and Washington D.C. have legalized marijuana for medical use, and 14 states and D.C. have decriminalized marijuana possession. Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon and Washington State have all legalized marijuana for recreational use. Each year, new state laws and regulations help expand the market, and each expansion further nullifies the unconstitutional federal ban in effect.

No matter what the mainstream tells you, nullification works. History proves this. The present proves this. And we will continue to prove it in the future.

*** end quote ***

Marijuana was outlawed to protect Hearst’s paper factories from competition. Fueled by that racist and untrue “Reeffer Madness”, “We, The Sheeple” were stampeded into another attempt at “Prohibition”.

Any prohibition doesn’t work. It merely raises the cost to the consumer and allows politicians and bureaucrats to exert more un-Constitutional control over “We, The Sheeple”.

POLITICAL: Let’s meaningfully measure progress towards political goals

MONEY: Bitcoin “Not Backed”; so what “backs” FRNs?

Fed Official Decries Bitcoin as “Not Backed”
Bitcoin is backed by the use value of the distributed ledger in the underlying technology of the Blockchain.
by  Jeffrey A. Tucker

*** begin quote ***

Randal K. Quarles, a Trump administration appointee to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and Vice Chair for bank supervision, has given a lengthy speech (“Thoughts on Prudent Innovation in the Payment System”) that directly targets Bitcoin as a danger to the monetary and financial system.

To reiterate, an official speaking for the nation’s central bank that manages the global reserve currency – the institution that has long bragged about its power to bail out the entire world with the magic powers of the alchemist – has put down Bitcoin for being untrustworthy, unbacked, and unsound.

Will someone please tell me what is backing up the current Federal Reserve Notes that pass for “money” today?

I can’t believe the hubris of some people.

The Federal Reserve Note, since 1970, has lost 99.99% of its value. There maybe even some 9’s at the end of that percentage.

Jon Gruden leads wave of criticism over violence in Steelers-Bengals ‘MNF’ game
Jason Owens Shutdown Corner Dec 5, 2017, 1:05 AM

*** begin quote ***

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on “Monday Night Football” was a particularly brutal and violent game between heated division rivals, leading to multiple injuries and scary moments on the field.

The most critical injury involved Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, who couldn’t move his legs and reportedly suffered a spinal contusion after a frightening hit early in the game. He left the stadium in an ambulance and is in a local hospital.

*** end quote ***

I tweeted my concern for him after that injury which looked very dangerous.

I thought it was clean hard hitting football with a serious outcome.

Then, as the game went on, there were “cheap shots” and “dangerous plays” galore.

It was more like a MMA cage fight.

This is unacceptable. No wonder Moms, and non-macho Fathers, will not let the children play football. It’s still, like boxing, the lottery ticket way out of poverty.

Have we become the modern day Athenians looking down on the physical Spartans?

Surely, there can be “competition” without “brutality” and with “sportsmanship”!

“on the playing fields of Eaton” comes to mind.

Seems like some NFL players, have roid rage, with the discipline we’d expect out of a teenage boy feeling his oats.

It has to be steamrollered out by the NFL immediately if they want to have an “entertainment product”.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Harvard students don’t know how many Communism killed?

Tuesday, December 5, 2017

FROM TOM WOODS’ (DAILY) EMAIL

*** begin quote ***

The Crimson, the student newspaper at Harvard, just ran an article by Laura Nicolae, a sophomore, on how sympathy for communism has become chic there.

She writes, “my classmates will graduate with the impression that communism represents a light-hearted critique of the status quo, rather than an empirically violent philosophy that destroyed millions of lives.”

She noted further that among students across the country, one third believe that George W. Bush — of whom I am no fan, as you well know — was responsible for more deaths than Joseph Stalin.

Millennials know next to nothing about the history of communism.

Laura sure does, though. Her own father fled the horrors of communist Romania.

I’ll be having her on my show sometime soon.

Since Harvard is a Gooferment Skrule by virtue of all the Gooferment money it gets, you’d think it might teach some history there. You thought wrong!

How about the perspective that “mass murderers” can’t really murder masses without having control of a Gooferment?

TINFOILHAT: Amelia Earhart coverup by US military?

Monday, December 4, 2017

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5117527/America-hid-Amelia-Earharts-execution-Japanese.html

Amelia Earhart ‘was executed by the Japanese’: New ‘witness’ account claims aviation pioneer was held in Saipan before being killed – and the US military collected her body and covered it up

  • Bill Sablan of Guam said his uncle Tun worked at a Japanese prison in late ’30s
  • Tun said 2 American pilots – 1 female – were interned there after being rescued
  • That fits a theory that Earhart and her navigator were kept on Saipan island
  • Tun said the Japanese, fearing an international incident, had the pair executed
  • And the US military retrieved the remains after World War II, but kept quiet
  • Others who were on Saipan at the time have related the arrival of the pilot

By James Wilkinson and Emily Crane For Dailymail.com and Richard Shears for MailOnline

PUBLISHED: 17:06 EST, 25 November 2017 | UPDATED: 01:27 EST, 26 November 2017

*** begin quote ***

Aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart and her navigator were executed by the Japanese government to avoid an international incident, and the US played along, a shocking theory claims.

*** and ***

‘So apparently I think they were both killed in Saipan and buried there, and I found out later on as I made my inquiries that… after the war was over, their bodies were exhumed by an American military branch and shipped back to the United States.

‘Now where those bodies are now is somebody’s own question to answer.’

The Daily News suggested that they may have kept quiet in order to avoid an incident of their own.

That contradicts the most popular theory, which is that she crashed and died in the sea on July 2, 1937, after noting poor visibility and her declining gas levels in a series of transmissions earlier that morning.

But it fits a theory proposed on the History Channel special Amelia Earhart: The Lost Evidence in July that Earthart died at the hands of the Japanese, and that her murder was covered up by the US government.

*** end quote ***

But why?

It’s not like we were friends with the Japanese. We had just nuked them?

Why cover up?

OPINION  REVIEW & OUTLOOK
ObamaCare’s Death Payments
A program to reduce hospital admissions may have led to more deaths.

By The Editorial Board
Nov. 23, 2017 2:30 p.m. ET

*** begin quote ***

ObamaCare has caused hard-to-quantify economic damage, but some of the law’s regulations may be lethal—literally. Consider a Medicare hospital payment initiative, which a new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association Cardiology suggests may have contributed to an increase in deaths.

Readers are likely familiar with ObamaCare’s mandate and subsidies to impel individuals to obtain health insurance. But the law also included monetary incentives and penalties aimed at inducing changes in health-care delivery and spending reductions. The government rolled out these payment models nationally without careful study, and they are having unintended side effects.

A case in point is the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program, which penalizes hospitals with above-average readmissions for Medicare patients. Readmissions are expensive, and the goal of the penalties is to encourage providers to take measures that reduce repeat hospitalizations—for instance, providing patients with clearer discharge instructions and coordinating with primary-care physicians.

*** and ***

Hospitals with above-average readmissions are also more likely to care for low-income patients and deal with complicated medical cases. They are usually financially strapped due to low Medicaid reimbursements, and the ObamaCare penalties may make it even harder to deliver quality care.

ObamaCare effectively enrolled Medicare patients and hospitals without their consent in a mandatory policy experiment—you’ll be better off, trust us—but then neglected to evaluate the adverse effects. A drug trial with the same results would have been shut down long ago.

*** end quote ***

Why do we let politicians and bureaucrats dabble in “health”, “health care”, “health care insurance”, or something else?

It’s all about control of people and resources.

Let’s go back to a free market.

Surely the public and the poor will be better served.

Greed is good; except when the consumer is not in control.

LIBERTY: Is “liberaltarian” just a new name for socialist?

Brink Lindsey self-identifies as a libertarian; and Steven Teles is a modern liberal. They have together devised a new “liberaltarian” outlook. (The word combines elements of “libertarian” and “egalitarian”) It is a new name for an old way of thinking, and students of the Progressives will find little to surprise them.

*** end quote ***

Certainly seems so.

The key principle of little L libertarians is the “non aggression principle”

I first heard the easiest explanation of it by Jason Stapleton when he quoted a book title “Don’t hurt people and don’t take their stuff”.

I’m not the arbiter of who’s a “libertarian” and who’s not, but it’s hard to see “Brink Lindsey” as a “libertarian”, regardless of how he self-identifies.

Small limited government is the very least degree of liberatianism as I know it.

The welfare / warfare state as we currently have is not by any stretch of the imagination “libertarian”.

And “progressivism” is merely code for socialism, imho

MONEY: Printed “money” doesn’t represent real wealth

THE BIGGEST WEALTH TRANSFER IN HISTORY
Posted on November 17, 2017 by Egon von Greyerz

*** begin quote ***

US DEBT UP 1800X IN 100 YEARS

Total US debt in 1913 was $39 billion. Today it is $70 trillion, up 1,800X. But that only tells part of the story. There were virtually no unfunded liabilities in 1913. Today they are $130 trillion. So adding the $70 trillion debt to the unfunded liabilities gives a total liability of $200 trillion.

In 1913 US debt to GDP was 150%. Today, including unfunded liabilities, the figure becomes almost 1,000%. This is the burden that ordinary Americans are responsible for a burden that will break the US people and the US economy as well as the dollar.

Whilst ordinary people have been landed with liabilities that they can never repay, the bankers and the 1% elite has profitably (ab)used the leverage that the debt expansion has created and thus amassed massive fortunes.

That is why we are seeing this enormous inequality in wealth. Ordinary people have not yet realised that they are liable for this debt. They will of course never repay it, nor will anyone else. Governments will try to solve the problem by printing even more money, thus exacerbating the problem. Eventually this will lead to high inflation turning to hyperinflation with interest rates going to at least 15-20% but probably higher. At that point central banks have lost total control of their interest rate manipulation.

The world will then discover that this time the money printing will have no effect as manufactured money can never create wealth.

*** end quote ***

When you look at the absolute dollars of debt and liabilities, it’s absolutely terrifying.

I’m glad I’m old and won’t see the crash. It’s going to make the Great Depression look like just a very bad day.

Clearly the debt will be repudiated by inflation, defaults, and unilateral abrogation of contracts. Clearly mere “understandings” (i.e., social security; Gooferment pensions; State Gooferment “constitutional” provisions, “promises”) will be “cannon fodder”.

I feel sorry for future generations.

RANT: “Accusation Equals Guilt”

Wednesday, November 22, 2017

http://tenthamendmentcenter.com/2017/11/18/the-pernicious-doctrine-of-accusation-equals-guilt/

The Pernicious Doctrine of “Accusation Equals Guilt”
by Ted Galen Carpenter, CATO Institute

*** begin quote ***

Equating mere allegations of misconduct with definitive evidence is a growing habit in the United States.  That tendency is most prevalent regarding national security matters, and the trend has been building since the onset of the so-called war on terror following the 9-11 attacks.

Conservatives are especially prone to assert that “terrorists” are not entitled to constitutional rights, even if they are American citizens.  The obvious problem with that argument is that until a fair and impartial trial is held, the individuals in question are merely accused terrorists.  The whole point of due process is to determine whether a defendant is guilty or not.

Alarmingly, George W. Bush’s administration asserted the authority to jail suspected terrorists without trial or even a hearing before an independent tribunal.  In the case of Jose Padilla, an American citizen apprehended at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, the government designated him an “enemy combatant” and held him (as well as inflicted torture) for nearly four years at a military prison in South Carolina before bringing charges to a grand jury.  Even then, the administration’s belated application of due process occurred only in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s prodding.

*** end quote ***

Us little L libertarians should be constantly nagging about “our process”, “innocent until proven guilty”, and ‘limited government”.

We can go through a list of liberty impairing actions:

  • “no fly” list
  • “civil asset forfeiture”
  • gun laws
  • IRS abuses
  • Marijuana prohibition
  • “free speech zones”
  • Congressional corruption
  • farm subsidies
  • “welfare / warfare” state
  • the “deep state”

and on and on ad nauseam!

RANT: Lowering the corporate tax rates is important

Sunday, November 19, 2017

I don’t think that anyone is fairly or correctly assessing the lowering of the corporate tax rate.

It’s generally acknowledged that “corporations don’t pay taxes; only real people do”. By taxing corporations, “We, The Sheeple” don’t “see” exactly how much tax they are paying on a can of beans.

When you consider the effect of corporate taxes on capital goods (i.e., the truck to deliver the can of beans) or intermediates (i.e., the gas to power the truck to deliver the can of beans), it’s impossible to calculate the true cost of taxes “buried” in the can of beans.

By lowering the corporate tax rate, perhaps that insight will be brought from “behind the curtain”.

Like moving tax day to the day before election day lowering the corporate tax rates is important, I’d like to see more people “see” just how much they are taxed.

Just my humble opinion from a fat old white guy retired injineer who’s now a poor old senior citizen on a fixed income and no expert on “ekky-nomics”.

TINFOILHAT: E Howard Hunt’s secret diary in the JFK files

No Smoking Gun? The JFK Files Are On Fire!
By Roger Stone and Saint John Hunt
Stone Cold Truth
November 13, 2017

*** begin quote ***

E Howard Hunt’s secret diary

The missing handwritten “diary” of E Howard Hunt is buried in the October release of the JFK files.  This is only, I believe, a portion of his infamous diary, and not the entire writing.  As one might recall that during the first few months when the Watergate scandal was barely making headlines, there was a dramatic and dangerous campaign by Hunt and his wife Dorothy to blackmail President Nixon into paying money to Hunt for his silence.  In Nixon’s own words captured in oval office recordings to his inner circle, he stresses that “Hunt knows too much.”  How much did Hunt know and what did he know?  Nixon placed a minimum value on Hunt’s threats to go public at over one million dollars.  That may not sound like very much by today’s standards but by today’s standards, the 1972 million is now, in 2017, half a billion dollars.  To be exact, it’s $585.61 million.

So what did Hunt have on Nixon?  Well in the 9-page “diary” Hunt chronicles the Nixon approved, and at that time unknown CIA and Mafia plan to assassinate, among others, Fidel Castro.  Back in 1972, this was political dynamite and would have caused Nixon his place in the upcoming November presidential election.   Much of the “diary” is hard to read but I have worked out a great deal of what Hunt chronicled.  Money was paid to Hunt but in Dec. 1972 as Dorothy Hunt was on her way to Chicago to hold a press conference with CBS anchor Michelle Clark, the plane, United 553, crashed into a residential area near Midway Airport killing Dorothy Hunt.  Mrs. Hunt was carrying copies of the “diary”.  Officials placed the blame for the crash on “pilot error.”  On closer examination of events, it’s clear that the crash was deliberate.  The day after the crash Nixon appointed White House aide Egil Krogh (Hunt’s boss in the secret “plumbers” team) Undersecretary of Transportation, supervising the NTSB and FAA investigations into the crash.  One week later Nixon appointed his Deputy Assistant Alexander Butterfield head of the FAA.  Five weeks after that Dwight Chapin, Nixon’s appointment secretary became a top executive at United Airlines.  In the days following the crash Hunt pled guilty to charges stemming from Watergate and the blackmail threats stopped.

*** end quote ***

I never heard of a “secret diary” and I consider myself “interested” in the topic.

Seems like everyone is very quick to bury the stories.

Maduro confirmed last week that the government would debut a new 100,000 Bolivar bill, making it the highest denomination note released in modern Venezuelan history. The move comes less than a year after he released 500, 1000, 2000, 10,000, and 20,000 bolivar notes, although all of these notes now all have a value of well under half a dollar.

I hope all the Bernie Sanders supporters are watching carefully at that misery there.

A Christie’s Auctions’ appraiser has allegedly confirmed the authenticity of the map. Historians are also said to have stated the map was written in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Menzies says that the map’s validity can also be used to explain the Chinese names of several towns and regions in Peru.

Who discovered “america”?

Who cares who discovered “america”?

I don’t really care.

Other than the minor fact that what I was taught all my life may be wrong.

And, the experts, who poo poo amateur historian Gavin Menzies, just have to explain the map. I never heard of such a map, but I sure have heard of others. That’s “evidence” of educational malpractice.

What else have I been taught that’s wrong?

Report: Undercover Operation Reveals TSA Failed Most Security Checkpoint Tests at U.S. Airports

Isn’t it time to nuke George Bush’s TSA?

Obviously no one is attack airplanes because if they were, then they’d be succeeding.

“Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program” —Milton Friedman

Shut down “Homeland Security”, turn “airline security” back to the airlines, and ask the “Department of Defense” to do its job.

Seems simple to me but what do I know; I’m just a fat old white guy retired injineer who’s a poor old senior citizen on a fixed income.

Argh!
