Isn’t it time to nuke George Bush’s TSA?

Obviously no one is attack airplanes because if they were, then they’d be succeeding.

Shut down “Homeland Security”, turn “airline security” back to the airlines, and ask the “Department of Defense” to do its job.

GUNS: Existing gun laws are ineffective due to bureaucrat error

Tuesday, November 14, 2017

FROM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL “The 10-Point”

A History of Violence

The gunman who killed 26 people at a Texas church on Sunday morning had a history of domestic abuse, animal abuse and trouble holding down a job, as well as a failed marriage. But 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley’s violent past didn’t prevent him from purchasing weapons. One reason is that the U.S. military failed to submit Kelley’s record to the FBI after a court-martial conviction, including for slamming his baby’s head. The military’s lapse apparently explains why Kelley passed an FBI background check and was allowed to purchase guns in recent years. Authorities are still piecing together his motive. Leading up to the shooting, Kelley sent threatening text messages to his mother-in-law. The shooting left a community in Texas with unspeakable losses: The youngest victim was 1½ years old; the oldest, 77.

It would seem that the politicians and bureaucrats should be reviewing their FAILURES in their systems.

Once again, “a good guy with a gun” stops the attack.

So why DON’T we have universal concealed carry?

INTERESTING: Another blow for virtualization!

Monday, November 13, 2017

FROM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL “The 10-Point”

Real Food, Virtual Restaurants

If you have ever ordered a burrito through a food-delivery app, you may have been the patron of a virtual restaurant. No, it doesn’t require a VR headset, and the food is quite real. What makes these new restaurants virtual is that you find them only online. Tucked inside industrial parks, commissary kitchens and refitted basements in cities such as New York, Chicago and San Jose, these restaurants have no dining room, no wait staff, no takeout window or sign. Many don’t take orders over the phone and are accessible only through online services such as Grubhub, DoorDash or Postmates. With their low overhead, virtual restaurants avoid the capital-intensive model that kills 60% of new restaurants in their first five years.

# – # – # – # – #

WOW!

That’s an interesting strategy to be in “food”.

I wonder if they can wipe the kitchens out of restaurants.

Hmmm?

SECESSION: Time of the USA to back “self-determination” for the Kurds, Catalonians, and anyone who wants it bad enough

The 100-year-old promise
The international community enabled the birth of Israel
By Clifford D. May – – Tuesday, October 31, 2017

*** begin quote ***

Also too often forgotten or ignored is the fact that it was thanks to Britain and the other Allied Powers that Arab nation-states rose from the Ottoman ashes. Among them: Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Yemen.

*** end quote ***

Say what you want, but the “international community” didn’t give Israel anything. Other than the right to fight for their “homeland”.

So to, anyone, who wants freedom enough to die for it, “deserves” to have it regardless of anyone else’s “opinion”.

Seems that instead of the USA’s failed policy of “nation building”, it should shift of a Swiss like “recognition” of reality. Regardless of who’s “ox” gets gored, it’s in the USA’s national interest to be at peace. Calming the fires of nationalistic fervor would seem to be a good start.

To all those who want “freedom”, I’d urge caution — be careful what you ask for, you might get it. And, as we’ve seen in many cases, “freedom” and “democracy” often morph uncontrollably in socialism, communism, and other forms of dictatorships.

VETERANS: Why politicians hated Armistice Day but love Veterans Day

Saturday, November 11, 2017

2017-Nov-11

Those who fail to learn from history end up harming veterans

Why politicians hated Armistice Day but love Veterans Day Retweet
By Perry Willis

Veterans Day will be observed on Friday, November 10th this year. It used to be called Armistice Day, in memory of the moment when the First World War ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.

Armistice Day was a valuable holiday!

It reminded people of the biggest mistake the political class ever made — a world war fought over nothing! Alas, the politicians could not abide such a reminder of their own folly, and so they changed Armistice Day into something they could exploit — Veterans Day.

Whereas Armistice Day highlighted the dangers of militarism and interventionism, politicians now use Veterans Day to promote those schemes. They loudly proclaim…

“Our soldiers fought to preserve our freedom!”

We want to stress-test that claim. We will, as we have done before previous military holidays, circulate a series of articles. Each article will review a different U.S. war and answer the following questions… Armistice Day

  • Did the war defend America?
  • Did the war defend freedom?
  • Did the war improve things?

We believe the evidence is overwhelming that U.S. wars have…

  • Endangered U.S. security
  • Reduced freedom
  • Harmed the world
  • Injured and destroyed veterans for little benefit

You’ll be able to judge for yourself as we present the evidence. We do this because…

We want to prevent the loss of more young lives in useless wars!

Alas, experience has taught us that we can’t speak the truth on either Veterans Day or Memorial Day. We’re met with howls of outrage on those days, while sweet-sounding lies are embraced with enthusiasm. Fortunately, we’ve found a more receptive audience in the days immediately before Veterans Day and Memorial Day. So look for several articles over the next couple of weeks, before the holiday.

In preparation, I want you to quickly consider the two most common criticisms I’ve received about my articles…

  1. I supposedly blame America for everything.
  2. I supposedly benefit from hindsight based on knowledge that was unavailable at the time.

If you read my articles closely then I think you’ll see that the second criticism is completely untrue. All of my arguments are based on facts that were widely known at the time. And the charge that I blame America for everything is equally false. I don’t blame America for anything! I blame U.S. politicians! But I do focus on the U.S. for two important reasons…

  1. The U.S. is so powerful that it’s mistakes have a disproportionate impact on the world. It’s been said in many ways by many people, “When the U.S. catches a cold the rest of the world catches the flu.”
  2. I have some small ability to influence things in my own country, but almost none in other countries.

If you find the series of articles we’re about to present of value, please share them with others. Start a conversation about the correct way to honor veterans and the war dead. We believe it should be possible to honor their courage and mourn their loss, without telling lies about how they were used. And if you’re new to our work and like what you see, please subscribe using the form near the bottom of our homepage! It’s free!

INTERESTING: Final Jeopardy betting strategy?

Thursday, November 9, 2017

Watching a recent Jeopardy, I was reminded of my quest for the formula for final jeopardy wagering.

X, Y, and Z are the final amounts of the leader, midfielder, and trailer.

If X > 2Y, then there’s no calculation needed.

If X-2Y > 2Z, then the trailer plays no part in the action.

If X-2Y > Z, then the trailer must play to have any chance to win.

If X-2Y < Z, then the trailer must bet zero and hope they both miss.

Any other strategies?

Why Has The Las Vegas Massacre Disappeared From The News Cycle?
by Tyler Durden Nov 2, 2017 12:30 AM

*** begin quote ***

It is without a doubt, our news cycle – in the age of 24/7 constant-connectedness – moves at a breakneck pace. With so much information and news reaching us, it’s easy to become overburdened and burned out on the world around us and the things taking place. It is true, too, that the mainstream media dictates what stays center in the mind of the public and what is allowed to fade away and be forgotten. It is of the utmost importance we remain aware – however exhaustive it may be – of stories that just don’t add up.

*** end quote ***

IF there were multiple shooters, THEN the Gooferment’s “safety” guarantee is WORTHLESS — as it always was.

IF there were multiple shooters, THEN ISIS has successfully mounted a terrorist attack in the USA — that’s a BIG first since 9/11.

IF there were multiple shooters, THEN the Gooferment and its propaganda media is exposed as liars.

Wake up call?

VETERANS: Setting and meeting tougher standards

Tuesday, November 7, 2017

FROM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL “The 10-Point”

Army Strong
The U.S. Army’s decades-old physical-fitness test could get more physical soon, with the aim of encouraging more-practical training and preventing injury. Among the six events in the proposed overhaul of the Army Combat Readiness Test: a barbell lift, a sprint with 40-pound kettlebells and a brutal new style of push-up. With one set of passing standards and no adjustments for age or gender, it reflects a U.S. military where all combat jobs are now open to women. The test would be a dramatic shift for the Army, long a bellwether of civilian health and fitness. Tens of thousands of soldiers can’t be deployed because of injuries, Army leaders say, many caused by poor physical fitness.

# – # – # – # – #

Finally, some common sense in this crazy “politically correct” world!

I don’t want unfit men OR women who can’t deploy. It just makes it dangerous for everyone.

For the jobs where you sit on your butt all day, outsource them to civilians.

AND, why not make the physical items as part of shaping the force in terms of retention.

  • Declassified CIA report details claims that Hitler lived in Colombia in the 1950s
  • Phillip Citroen, a former SS officer, told agents the dictator was living in the town of Tunja, 85 miles north of Bogota, among a group of former Nazis in 1954

‘Therefore, we suggest that this matter be dropped.’

If you didn’t believe the Deep State is beyond democratic control before, you now have no choice – not after the last minute mugging the Donald received on his way to releasing these ancient JFK assassination files.

And believe us, they are indeed ancient. Your editor was sitting in high school civics class learning about the difference between America’s open society and democratic government and the secretive Kremlin dictatorship of the Soviet Union when news of the Dallas tragedy came over the school’s PA.

Needless to say, the theory that the assassination was the work of a lone gunman in the Texas Book Depository, who fired three shots in 11 seconds with an 1890 vintage Italian rifle and hit President Kennedy from 265 feet was never very satisfying from the beginning.

REVEALED – Full story of deadly Niger ambush: Hero Green Beret Sgt. La David Johnson died going BACK into the kill zone to save comrades… as survivors fought for their lives for TWO HOURS until French fighter jets reached them

  • Sgt. La David Johnson was in an armed pick-up truck when the ambush started
  • His vehicle was in front of the Land Cruiser carrying Sgt. Bryan C. Black, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah W. Johnson, Sgt. La David Johnson and Staff Sgt. Dustin M. Wright
  • Johnson and his vehicle escaped the fire of 50 ISIS militants but then went back
  • They were trying to save the other four US men when they were all struck Sgt. La.’s body was eventually given back to Nigerien troops by a village elder
  • That same village elder is suspected of stalling the troops before the ambush
  • The October 3 attack in Tongo Tongo, Niger, has been shrouded in secrecy
  • Sgt. Johnson’s widow revealed this week that she still did not know how he died
  • The new details were revealed on Friday by an unnamed US official
  • Questions remain over why the lightly armed unit of just 42 soldiers was sent on a dangerous mission to capture an ISIS target with so few men and weapons

Questions which must now be answered include whether the men should ever have been told to proceed with the mission with no surveillance, no back-up and limited weaponry and ammunition.

It has also shed light on the US military’s presence in Africa which was largely unrecognized until recently.

U.S. forces have been in the country intermittently for more than two decades. Currently, some 800 U.S. service members are supporting a French-led mission to defeat the Islamic State, al-Qaeda and Boko Haram in West Africa.

What Job-Hunting Teaches Us about the Value of Innovation
By: Ryan Ayers
In: Innovation Psychology

*** begin quote ***

Create Your Own Solution – Take Action

When you’re searching for your dream job, so are hundreds of others. They’re all applying for the same openings, using the same strategies to land a job that everyone else is. However, the people who really get noticed are the ones who go straight to the companies they want with their value, regardless of whether there’s a posted opening or not. One tech company hired four people in six months who proactively reached out and showed the decision-maker at the company what they could do to make his company more successful.

Innovators don’t wait until someone asks for a need to be filled. They spot the gaps before anyone else sees them, and take action to create solutions proactively. They know their efforts may not be successful, but they try anyway. Why? Because sometimes, it they do work. Decisive, informed action is what sets innovators apart, in both the job search and when driving the changes they want to see in the world.

This reminded me of my very first job search when I took my first golden handshake from AT&T. I didn’t know any better, so I sent out 400+ letters to banks and brokerages. Each included a multi-page resume. I don’t remember the page count but it was long. It took two first class stamps to mail. And, each was personalize and in a hand addressed envelope. I was rewarded by many interviews and a choice of three offers. I started the second week in January and remember I was upset because I was out of work about 10 days. Laugh!

So, be aggressive in seeking out YOUR opportunities. I still believe that your UVP (Unique Value Equation) must be backed up with your USP (Unique Sales Process).

Good luck and good hunting.

GUNS: The average gun owner isn’t interested doing a thing to anyone

AP Focuses Spotlight On LGBTQ Gun Group

But those same conservatives are also the very same people who have volunteered as part of Operation Blazing Sword, a project launched following the Pulse Orlando shooting last year. It’s where a large number of conservative and libertarian gun owners–including myself, to be clear–volunteered to help teach the LGBTQ community how to shoot so they could protect themselves.

In short, the average gun owner isn’t interested doing a thing to anyone in the Trigger Warnings group…except maybe chuckle at their name because it’s kind of awesome.

Don’t get me wrong, the concerns about neo-Nazis have a place. They’re out there and they’re a threat to pretty much anyone who disagrees with them on anything, but more so for people who are part of groups lacking approval by their warped ideology. Being concerned about those threats definitely has a place in one’s training.

All the gun owners that I’ve met — not a statistical study by any means — are just folks who want to have fun, shoot strange stuff, and not be bothered by busybodies.

I recently read that gun shootings by non-police have an extremely small percentage of error or harm to innocents. Further, that just the presence of a good person with a gun tends to stop crime. Finally, “gun free zones” are dangerous because they attract the bad guys.

Argh!

INTERESTING: Could we use dogs to quickly screen for diseases?

Does Sickness Smell?
By Joseph Mercola Mercola.com October 23, 2017

In yet another example, a Labrador retriever was trained to detect the scent of colorectal cancer from breath and stool samples with greater than 90 percent accuracy.21 Using breath samples, the dog could detect colorectal cancer with 91 percent accuracy and had an amazing 97 percent accuracy with stool samples. The researchers concluded:

“This study shows that a specific cancer scent does indeed exist and that cancer-specific chemical compounds may be circulating throughout the body. These odor materials may become effective tools in colorectal cancer screening.”

Hopefully soon, we can have “disease detectors” that mimic the dog’s ability.

Either that or an array of dogs that give you a sniff as you walk into the hospital.

Maybe that’s the future of Gooferment “healthcare”?

ECONOMICS: CVS eats AETNA?

Friday, October 27, 2017

Healthy Convergence
CVS is in talks to buy Aetna for more than $66 billion, as the drugstore giant works to fortify itself against looming competition from Amazon while the health-care industry undergoes a reordering. In a sign of the seriousness of the talks, the companies’ chief executives have met multiple times over a period of roughly six months. CVS has made a proposal to buy the health insurer for more than $200 a share. With Aetna, CVS could lock in a huge number of members for its pharmacy-benefit management arm, as well as customers for its drugstores. That could bolster its leverage in negotiations with drugmakers, while its oversight of health insurance could improve its ability to strike new deals that tie drug prices to patient outcomes. If a deal were to be struck, it would be the year’s largest.
