Many economists and much of the public are beginning to worry about the massive increase in the money supply and the massive increase in deficit spending. With a public debt approaching $30 trillion and a money supply that has increased by 25% in the last two years, the worry seems justified. However, Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) says we have nothing to worry about.

MMT says that since the US uses a currency that is not backed by anything other than faith in the government, more money can always be printed to pay off the debt. And the increase in the money supply will not necessarily lead to inflation.

I don’t understand how more “dollars” in circulation chasing a relatively fixed amount of goods and services can NOT Lead to higher consumer prices.

The only one who benefits from inflation is the Gooferment.

The poor, the retired, those on fixed income, bondholders, and the middle class are getting screwed.

An illegal alien rape suspect was released from jail in Maryland in August 2019, just three days after being arrested, despite a request from ICE to keep the guy in custody, so immigration officers could be sent to pick him up.

After reading the actual indictment, the firearms purchased by Smith were all semi-auto pistols. There were four Glocks, a Walther, a Taurus, and a Smith & Wesson. Notably, one was listed as a “Glock G42 .390 caliber pistol.” I can’t say I’m surprised that no one caught that little error.

Although some studies have concluded that masks help stop the spread of COVID-19, usually they have failed to replicate real-world situations.  A common approach is to evaluate the effectiveness of mask material at stopping the expulsion or intake of the aerosols presumed to be the airborne carriers of the virus.  Useful information, perhaps, but at this stage, what we need to know is whether the widespread use of masks is measurably reducing the risk of death from the disease.  To continue requiring the use of masks makes sense only if there is compelling data that death rates are lower for people who wear masks than it is for people who do not.

I prefer “Like trying to keep mosquitoes out of your backyard with a chain link fence”!

His is shorter, but mine is more realistic.

For search, check out DuckDuckGo and SwissCows. For a browser, consider Brave or Opera. From a security perspective, Opera is far superior to Google Chrome and even includes a free VPN service. For encrypted email, sign up with ProtonMail, which is based in Switzerland. As for online document sharing, Digital Trends has published an article listing a number of alternatives to Google Docs.

Out of a sample size of two young women grocery shoppers, I know one who is NOT going back to the old way of schlepping to the grocery store.

The other is a tactile strap of consciousness lady who wants to see and feel stuff.

But I do think the author has identified a trend.

In my case, I’m lazy and, as a child, my sainted Mother used to drag me to go shopping many Saturdays.  Hence, I HATE it.  So for as much as like the power of Big Tech, I’m a keyboard warrior when it comes to shopping.

No going back for me unless I’m dragged into it.

Andrew Cuomo completely mismanaged the COVID crisis. His ineptitude caused the deaths of thousands of elderly. He ordered nursing homes to accept COVID positive patients and sounded very crass

“Older people, vulnerable people, are going to die from this virus,” Cuomo added. “That is going to happen despite whatever you do, with all our progress as a society, we can’t keep everyone alive. Older people are more vulnerable.  That is a fact that is not going to change.”

Worse, he lied about it.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s top aide confessed privately this week that the administration suppressed the true COVID toll in the homes. She also offered an apology — not to the thousands of New York families who needlessly lost loved ones thanks to her boss’s mismanagement but to Democratic lawmakers put in a difficult “political position with the Republicans” by the coverup.

Then he became dismissive about the elderly deaths

“New York State, we’re only about 28%, only, but we’re below the national average in number of deaths in nursing homes — but who cares?” he asked. “Thirty-three, twenty-eight, died in a hospital, died in a nursing home, they died.”

Personally, I am surprised that the coverup of the NY nursing home deaths hasn’t drawn its own criticism.

Isn’t the saying “It’s not the crime, but the coverup”?

AND, I’m also absolutely flabbergasted that there has NOT been and avalanche of wrongful death suits against all involved.  Guess the ambulance chasers are afraid of reprisals from the politicians and bureaucrats!
