NEWJERSEY: Murphy claims “separate staff”?

AMERICAN NEWS Mar 7, 2021 12:33 PM EST
NJ Gov. Phil Murphy passes the buck on decision to stick sick people in nursing homes
Phil Murphy, the governor of New Jersey, went on interview on Sunday and stated basically that “it’s tragic” but that the state government is not to blame for people getting sick and dying from COVID.

*** begin quote ***

“So it was not enough just to separate the residents, but to separate the staff. Did some operators not take our advice? It’s possible, and if they did, if they did not, they deserve to pay a price for that.”

As of this writing, we have not been able to directly verify the governor’s statements that they were insisting on separating staff as well as patients in nursing homes due to the pandemic.

*** end quote ***

Hope someone can confirm or deny this.  I sure don’t remember it.  I do remember them attacking the observant Jewish nursing home owner who’s rabbi counseled him not to let the sick back into his nursing home.

If the governor’s statement can not be confirmed, then he’s almost as bad as Cuomo.

POLITICAL: Skepticism – Why critical thinking makes you smarter

Monday, March 8, 2021

It’s not always easy to tell the difference between objective truth and what we believe to be true. Separating facts from opinions, according to skeptic Michael Shermer, theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss, and others, requires research, self-reflection, and time.

  • Recognizing your own biases and those of others, avoiding echo chambers, actively seeking out opposing voices, and asking smart, testable questions are a few of the ways that skepticism can be a useful tool for learning and growth.

*** end quote ***

This is why I like “good” Conspiracy Theories.  One can ask smart, testable questions that will uncover the objective truth!

Cui bono.

That’s my personal favorite.

The recent Cuomo twin pr disaster of sex and nursing home deaths points to the value of this question.  Cuomo, who I believe was regarded as 2024 Presidential material, was eliminated by these “revelations”.  Who benefitted?  Number on on the list has to be VP Kamla Harris.

Prove me wrong?

NYT publishes column claiming Looney Tunes character Pepe Le Pew ‘normalized rape culture’ | Daily Mail Online

Will Pepe Le Pew be cancelled after Dr. Seuss? New York Times columnist claims Looney Tunes’ amorous French skunk ‘normalized rape culture’ and taught boys that ‘no didn’t really mean no’

I remember watching this when I was growing up. And, other than sympathy for poor Sylvester, if it taught me anything, I taught me how pathetic one looked when one couldn’t take “no” for an answer. I was going through my first crush, and I was the one who was pathetic trying to attract a neighbor’s daughter. After that blinding flash of revelation from a cartoon, I was over her and on to others. Laugh! Yeah, I was a real ladies man in my day or so I thought. Laugh!

So I disagree with the good doctor’s assertion and dismiss all this “revisionist history” about how terrible cartoons were for my generation. We have lost the ability to dismiss the trivial. Perhaps because, working on out non-trivial problems is hard.

Argh!

My grandma was a Holocaust survivor — and a secret WWII spy

Saturday, March 6, 2021

“He would acquire the information and [Bella] would code,” said Zentelis, adding that the siblings shared a childhood code they likely used, before Bella would then decode the intelligence for the British Legation in Budapest.

Now that’s a fascinating tale. I wonder how many more unsung heroes there are?

INTERESTING: The City of Minneapolis settlement may have just denied Fair trial

Payout of $27 Million to Family of George Floyd Could Derail Criminal Case Against Officer Derek Chauvin
By Shipwreckedcrew | Mar 13, 2021 3:30 PM ET

*** begin quote ***

The injection into this process of a new factual wrinkle that the City of Minneapolis has decided to pay $27 million to George Floyd’s family in connection with what Derek Chauvin is accused to have done, only makes it more likely — in my view — that the final outcome will be that Chauvin cannot receive his Constitutionally mandated “fair trial” in Hennepin County.

*** end quote ***

Interesting reading.

Given how racial tensions are heightened, this settlement may have just guaranteed that there will be riots.

Sad to say, there will be no peace if it’s perceived as no justice.

What a mess.

But what do you expect when politicians and bureaucrats are involved.

Voting Machine Hashcode Testing: Unsurprisingly insecure, and surprisingly insecure

Friday, March 5, 2021

Another gem in Mr. Mechler’s report is in Section 7.1, in which he reveals that acceptance testing of voting systems is done by the vendor, not by the customer.  Acceptance testing is the process by which a customer checks a delivered product to make sure it satisfies requirements.  To have the vendor do acceptance testing pretty much defeats the purpose.

What yahoo agreed to that?

This provision would have immediately disqualified the vendor imho!

The rocks date back to the construction of the original Thomas A. Mathis bridge and the subsequent construction of the “loop” that merges Route 37 with Route 35 and Seaside Park local roads in the 1950s.

Dust from the Sahara Desert blown north by strong seasonal winds to France did not only bring stunning light and sunsets – it also carried abnormal levels of radiation.

But if it is, then it’s a great lesson in Karma or Unintended Consequences?

Wonder what the health consequences are?

‘Mallard Fillmore’ dropped by Gannett in ‘unprecedented’ move – Washington Times

Wednesday, March 3, 2021

Bruce Tinsley, creator of the 27-year-old cartoon, said he was told this week by his syndication company that Gannett newspapers across the country simultaneously dropped the comic over two strips critical of President Biden and transgender participation in women’s sports.

Florida Governor DeSantis: Covid bill really just a “blue state” bailout

Wednesday, March 3, 2021

(From The Federalist) “They (Congress) are actually rewarding the states that have the highest unemployment rates. So if you locked down, if you destroyed your own economy through your own policies, you are getting a windfall,” DeSantis said on Fox News as his state hosted the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Nolte: Tina Fey Lied About Golden Globes Not Being Political

Tuesday, March 2, 2021

It tells us Hollywood is full of unprincipled, McCarthyite fascists who don’t care if “their guy” puts kids in cages, because it was never about “kids in cages,” it was only ever about power.

Nolte: Tina Fey Lied About Golden Globes Not Being Political

# – # – # – # – #

Let’s not forget; it’s NEVER about the issue at hand. It IS about who’s “guy” is in power.

Remember back to the “anti war” left that only comes out when there is an R in the White House.

It’s like the “deficit hawks” that only come out when there is a D in the White House.

Well, I’, anti-war and anti-deficit REGARDLESS of which of the Republicrats to Democans are in power.

Argh!

TECHNOLOGY: Google Pay loses functionality permanently

Monday, March 1, 2021

*** begin quote ***

First, starting on April 5th, the following features will no longer be available from the old app and at pay.google.com:

Ability to send, request or receive money

View of your recent activity or transaction history

*** end quote ***

That sounds like a pretty big change to me.

Guess google can’t compete with all the other ways to “send, request, or receive” money?

No impact to me, but maybe to Google’s Users of their phones?
