My thoughts went like this:

Would you consider that “race”, whatever that is, is an obsolete paradigm and an erroneous meme?
Changing paradigms is easy; memes are painful.
What did MLK say? “Content of their character” …
and Gandhi “be the change you want to see in the world” …
and the old Catholic hymn “let their be peace on earth and let it begin with me”.
Sigh, I’m just a fat old white guy injineer …
and I “Dona Nobis Pacem”.

Quick Emergency Prep Project: Build a Texting Tree
Posted on May 9, 2012 by aptprepper
*** begin quote ***
A few weeks ago, we posted a guest post on having a meeting place in times of emergency, which covered having multiple backup plans in place where your family can congregate. At the same time, when a disaster occurs, we would also want to reach out to loved ones to communicate our situation or inform them of our next move. In recent emergencies, it was widely observed that while land lines did not work, many people were able to use their cell phones to send text messages. For this reason it would be a good idea to organize your own texting tree. Much like the phone trees used by kids’ schools to keep parents informed, the texting tree would be used in times of emergency to keep family and friends informed.
This project is simple: all you need is your cell phone, contact list and a sheet of paper. You can either draw it out manually or build the tree using Word or Excel, in the same manner you would create an organization chart. It should only take about an hour at the most, except for the part about explaining how it works to your contacts.
*** end quote ***
IT would be a good idea to have your contacts be in a different geographic area.
For example, my three contacts are geographically diverse.
And, I’ve asked them to contact three folks in region or who’d care.
Laff!
Not that I’d be sad about being released for this “vale of tears”, but it’s against the rules to leave the game early.

Anyone need a better reason to withdraw troops from around the world and be like Switzerland!
Let the backwaters places settle their own problems.
All we do is give them a unifying target.
Just make it clear, you, or your unruly citizens, attack us, we’ll retaliate tit for tat. So, these two bit “leaders” better get their people under control. Or resign.
And, just to be clear, I’m anti-war pro-choice pro-life little L libertarian, but I’m not an isolationist or a pacifist. Live and let live. But, don’t mess with me or mine. But by the same token, “sticks ‘n’ stones”.

I read this obit on Mother’s Day and felt bad for that woman and baby!
Argh!
I’d make every politician attend every funeral. Think they’d get the message?

Honest Examination of Race
by Walter E. Williams
*** begin quote ***
You might ask, “What’s the point, Williams?” Let’s be clear about it. I’m not stating that there’s a causal relationship between crime, poverty and squalor on the one hand and, on the other, Democratic and black political control over a city. Nor am I saying that blacks ought to vote Republican. What I am saying is that if one is strategizing on how to improve the lives of the poorest black people, he wants to leave off his to-do list election of Democrats and black politicians. Also to be left off the to-do list is a civil rights agenda. Racial discrimination has little to do with major problems confronting black people.

Then, I had to fix what I messed up floundering around.
I popped the SIM thinking that might break the “shutting down” lock.

I guess when I put it back in I didn’t ram it home. Afraid of breaking it.
So when it came back up, it whined about “no sim card”.

A Brief and Bloody History of Gun Control
by Anthony Gucciardi
StoryLeak
*** begin quote ***
Painted signs reading ‘gun free zone’ and gun control legislation that really only affects law-abiding citizens does not prevent mass shootings, as we have seen evidenced by more than one shooting incident. Both the Aurora shooting at the Colorado movie theater dubbed the ‘Batman shooting’ and the most recent Sandy Hook incident in Connecticut both occurred in areas with heavy gun regulation. Amazingly, the Batman shooter actually traveled to the one movie theater in the area that actually did not permit lawful citizens to carry a concealed weapon. According to Dr. John R. Lott in an interview with Newsmax,
”…the one he picked was the only one of those movie theaters that banned people taking permit-concealed handguns into that theater.”
*** end quote ***
Again, these killers are crazy, but not stupid.
I don’t understand why the victims are not litigating with the movie theater for that policy putting them in harm’s way.
Like the Luby’s story, law abiding people obey laws. Criminals don’t.
Seems as simple as 1+1=2 … …
Yet, the Sheeple and Clovers allow the Gooferment, politicians, bureaucrats, and liberal media disarm everyone with “wishful thinking”.

General George S. Patton was assassinated to silence his criticism of allied war leaders claims new book
George S. Patton, America’s greatest combat general of the Second World War, was assassinated after the conflict with the connivance of US leaders, according to a new book.
By Tim Shipman in Washington 7:16PM GMT 20 Dec 2008
*** begin quote ***
The newly unearthed diaries of a colourful assassin for the wartime Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the forerunner of the CIA, reveal that American spy chiefs wanted Patton dead because he was threatening to expose allied collusion with the Russians that cost American lives.
The death of General Patton in December 1945, is one of the enduring mysteries of the war era. Although he had suffered serious injuries in a car crash in Manheim, he was thought to be recovering and was on the verge of flying home.
But after a decade-long investigation, military historian Robert Wilcox claims that OSS head General “Wild Bill” Donovan ordered a highly decorated marksman called Douglas Bazata to silence Patton, who gloried in the nickname “Old Blood and Guts”.
His book, “Target Patton”, contains interviews with Mr Bazata, who died in 1999, and extracts from his diaries, detailing how he staged the car crash by getting a troop truck to plough into Patton’s Cadillac and then shot the general with a low-velocity projectile, which broke his neck while his fellow passengers escaped without a scratch.

Why Good Parents Should Support Drug Legalization
May 4, 2013 |
A friend of mine used to laugh when I said I was in favor of legalizing all drugs. He just couldn’t fathom such a position. He told me that if they legalized drugs, “It would take all of the fun out of it.”
Three years after he died of a heroin overdose, I wonder whether he’d be alive now if drugs had been legal.
As a father, I sometimes find myself on the receiving end of an argument that’s a perennial favorite [3] of the hardened drug warrior: Why would I, the father of a nine-year-old girl, advocate for a society awash with legally available drugs?
The answer is simple: My daughter is already growing up in a society in which illegal drugs are easier to procure than alcohol. Unlike the guy behind the counter of my local liquor store, I’ve never known a drug dealer who checked IDs.
***
If you buy alcohol you know it’s not cut with rat poison.
If I had a kid, I don’t want the to die for a mistake.
Similarly, I don’t what them to spend time in jail for what is basically a medical condition.
And, like in Prohibition, all the killings are from drug dealer’s turf war.
So I want Walmart, Walgreens, and RiteAid to be the nation’s drug dealers.
We’ll all be better off!

Gold buyers forced to go on waiting list
Gold buyers are having to wait up to six weeks for their bars and coins after a price dip led to increased interest.
By Rosie Murray-West3:55PM BST 30 Apr 201358
*** begin quote ***
Investment company Physical Gold said there were waiting lists of three weeks for some coins, and four to six weeks for gold bars. “Previously all would have been available within a few days,” the company said.
The company said that it had seen a 50pc increase in enquiries about purchasing gold and a 35pc increase in sales, with people buying tax-free gold coins. “We are now starting to experience physical gold shortages,” said Daniel Fisher, CEO of Physical Gold.
“In particular there are waiting times on some gold bars and a real difficulty in obtaining mixed year Sovereigns. “However, many clients are willing to ‘do a deal’ and wait for delivery as they want to secure the current price as they feel it will be higher in the near future.”

FDA: OTC MORNING-AFTER PILLS FOR 15-YEAR-OLDS

WASHINGTON

The Plan B morning-after pill is moving over-the-counter, a decision announced by the Food and Drug Administration just days before a court-imposed deadline.
Tuesday, the FDA lowered to 15 the age at which girls and women can buy the emergency contraceptive without a prescription _ and said it no longer has to be kept behind pharmacy counters.
Instead, the pill can sit on drugstore shelves just like condoms, but that buyers would have to prove their age at the cash register.

So let me understand, these girls can’t drive a car, vote, or drink, BUT they can take powerful drugs with side affects?
And, I guess their parents get to clean up the mess afterwards?
So, what happened to statutory rape? Child molestation!

Fish for Longevity

Grilled Fish – image from Shutterstock
Fish contains heart-healthy protein and fatty acids, and the American Heart Association recommends eating two 3.5-ounce servings of fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, herring, lake trout and albacore tuna, each week. Dariush Mozaffarian, from the Harvard School of Public Health (Massachusetts, USA), and colleagues studied 2,692 American adults, average age 74 years, who did not have without prevalent coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, or heart failure at the study’s start. The team measured phospholipid fatty acid levels and cardiovascular risk factors in 1992, and monitored relationships with total and cause-specific mortality and incident fatal or nonfatal CHD and stroke through 2008. The researchers found those subjects with the highest blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids — lived more than two years longer on average than those with lower blood levels. Specifically, the data revealed that people with the highest levels of omega-3s reduced their overall risk of death from any cause by up to 27%, as compared to those with the lowest levels; as well, they were at a 35% lower risk of dying from heart disease. The study authors conclude that: “Higher circulating individual and total [omega]3-[polyunsaturated fatty acid] levels are associated with lower total mortality, especially [coronary heart disease] death, in older adults.”
Does anyone believe, or I guess more importantly action, this?
The trouble with fish is it’s expensive and really doesn’t taste that good.
At the “home” here, I could eat it every day for lunch, but yuck!
Maybe it’s me, but I’m a carb guy!

‘We’re just average folks’: The family sending all ten of their home-schooled children to college by the age of 12
Mona Lisa and Kip Harding from Montgomery, Alabama, home-school all ten of their kids – six of whom started college by the age of 12

A mother who home-schools her ten children in Montgomery, Alabama, has opened up about how six of them began their college degrees by the age of 12.
Those of the Harding siblings who have already graduated from college have gone on to become a doctor, an architect, a spacecraft designer and a master’s student. Another two – 12 and 14-years-old – are still finishing up their degrees.
But despite the Hardings’ incredible achievements at such young ages, their parents – Mona Lisa and Kip – insist they are a family of ‘average folks’ who simply find and cultivate their children’s passions early on.

When Homeland Security Theater Goes Off-Script
by William Norman Grigg
*** begin quote ***
While police in Watertown, Massachusetts closed in on the boat in which 19-year-old terrorist suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had concealed himself, FBI investigators in Chicago were snapping handcuffs on 18-year-old Abdella Ahmed Tounisi as he attempted to board an airplane bound for Istanbul. He intended to travel to Syria to fight on behalf an Islamic rebel group that seeks to overthrow the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
There is reason to believe that the FBI had advance knowledge of the Boston Marathon bombing plot. On the other hand, we know that Tounisi was a pure product of the FBI’s terrorist factory: He was the latest in a long procession of socially alienated teenage Muslim males who have been lured into an FBI-orchestrated plot by the Bureau’s roving troupe of “terrorism facilitators.”
What makes the terrorism charges against Tounisi more remarkable is the fact that he is accused of seeking to enlist in the service of a terrorist group that is presently receiving material aid from Washington.
Tounisi had been targeted by the FBI last fall after a friend named Abdel Daoud was snared in one of the Bureau’s prefabricated terror plots.

Isn’t this by definition “entrapment”?
