The US Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) (via ArsTechnica) pointed out how end-of-life Chromebooks are still sold on various marketplace platforms, like Amazon, Walmart, and possibly others, in new and unused conditions. These include devices like the ASUS Chromebook Flip C302, which was launched in 2018 and reached its Automatic Update Expiration (AUE) date on June 1, 2023. This means the laptop will no longer receive any security or platform updates for its Chrome OS from Google.

MARION — In an unprecedented raid Friday, local law enforcement seized computers, cellphones and reporting materials from the Marion County Record office, the newspaper’s reporters, and the publisher’s home.

Eric Meyer, owner and publisher of the newspaper, said police were motivated by a confidential source who leaked sensitive documents to the newspaper, and the message was clear: “Mind your own business or we’re going to step on you.”

The city’s entire five-officer police force and two sheriff’s deputies took “everything we have,” Meyer said, and it wasn’t clear how the newspaper staff would take the weekly publication to press Tuesday night.

The raid followed news stories about a restaurant owner who kicked reporters out of a meeting last week with U.S. Rep. Jake LaTurner, and revelations about the restaurant owner’s lack of a driver’s license and conviction for drunken driving.

The search warrant, signed by Marion County District Court Magistrate Judge Laura Viar, appears to violate federal law that provides protections against searching and seizing materials from journalists. The law requires law enforcement to subpoena materials instead. Viar didn’t respond to a request to comment for this story or explain why she would authorize a potentially illegal raid.

This “judge” should be IMMEDIATELY suspended with a view impeachment and disbarment.

A federal appeals court ruled in Connecticut’s favor in a dispute over the state’s removal of the religious exemption to its vaccine mandate. Connecticut law mandates vaccinations for “schoolchildren, college and university students, and childcare participants.”

The plaintiffs objected on religious grounds “to us[ing] or benefit[ing] from the use of aborted fetal cells” from stem cell lines used to produce some vaccines.

Addressing the childrearing argument, the appeals court acknowledged parents’ right to “the care, custody, and control of their children” but held the childrearing claim could not exist independent of the First Amendment claim, which the appeals court already rejected.

Any Amish, Mennonites, Quakers in the 2nd Circuit? They about to be told to sign up for selective service among other things based on the logic of this opinion. If a compelling State interest applied in a neutral manner is all it takes to override religious belief/freedom of conscience exemptions there’s a whole lot of new room for the State to require all sorts of things.

I find this stunning!

I can’t think of any more basic right then the rights recognized by the First Amendment.

While I disagree with “incorporation” that somehow makes the States subject to the Bill of Rights, if that is the “playing field” we are on, then surly the First Amendment covers the issue.  The plaintiffs are being enslaved right before our eyes by a tyrannical State Gooferment.

What comes next?

Clearly, Massachusetts residents need to move to New Hampshire.

And, the rest of us need to prepare to do battle on this issue in our own States.  Since tyranny doesn’t stop with one State.

The sudden policy change, which impacts flood-prone areas of this blue-collar Somerset County borough where more than 500 homes sit, infuriated many residents, who have long implored state lawmakers to reduce delays and flaws in storm recovery relief programs.

“We should have the choice of buyout or elevation. We shouldn’t be forced into a buyout that might not even cover your mortgage. Because then what?” Vaughn said. “I’ll owe the bank money, I’m going to lose my house, and my credit is shot because of all this so I’ll have nowhere else to live. It doesn’t make any sense.”

This doesn’t sound “fair”.  Like when “flood insurance” only covers “primary residences”!  Surprise, surprise.

A buyout should cover the value of the house before the flood. 

What were the rules in effect when the flood occured?

If the Gooferment wants to play dirty, then “We, The Sheeple” need to “correct” the politicians and bureaucrats.

The 6-year-old Virginia boy who shot and wounded his teacher with his mother’s gun later bragged about it to a school employee – shockingly claiming, “I shot that bitch dead,” according to newly unsealed search warrants.

After the first-grader shot Abigail Zwerner at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News on Jan. 6, reading specialist Amy Kovac held the boy until cops arrived, according to the documents obtained by WTKR.

“I did it … I shot that bitch dead,” the pint-sized pistol packer bragged, the docs show. “I got my mom’s gun last night.”

In a statement to WTKR, the Newport News School District said in response to the search warrant that “unfortunately, FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, prevents schools from releasing information from a student’s education record.

“U.S. Department of Education guidance states ‘schools must have written permission from the parent or eligible student in order to release any information from a student’s education record,’” the statement says.

“Newport News Public Schools is unable to comment on this matter in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act,” it adds.

Sorry but it sounds like the prosecutors are letting this go to easily.

Lot of blame to go around, but let’s focus on how the 6 years old gets a gun into school and learns to talk like that.

And, the school district seems to be hiding behind “privacy” to hide the records.

Argh!

Seems like Gooferment Skrules are as dangerous as prisons!
