The cynical ‘millionaires tax’ didn’t fool the SJC :: Jeff Jacoby

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Eric Peter’s Reader Rant! “We” Need and “I Believe”…

Sunday, June 17, 2018

Here’s the latest reader rant, with my comments below: Dave writes: I went for years as a healthy individual until a staph infection last April. Almost died. I am 75. You never know when it is your turn to be sick . So I am on the state insurance called Medicare.

Source: Reader Rant! “We” Need and “I Believe”…

*** begin quote ***

I agree that you never know when it is your turn to be sick. But that is not the issue. The issue – the moral issue – is whether your sickness and associated expenses impose an obligation upon me enforceable at gunpoint. And mine on you. My position is that they do not. That your life is yours and mine is mine and we each ought to be free to live our lives as we think best; to plan for life’s exigencies and regardless of them, accept that our problems, whether the result of irresponsibility or not, don’t give us the moral right to pick up guns and point them at other people.

*** end quote ***

As a little L libertarian, I agree that essentially EVERYONE is responsible for their own care.  However, under the guise of “insurance”, the Gooferment has made many promises, suggestions, “spins”, and innuendos about “coverage”.  So it’s no wonder that one of the “clovers” (Peter’s name for “We, The Sheeple”) is confused.  Given the “education” that passes for what happens in Gooferment Skrules, it’s no wonder that the disaster is ongoing.

I empathize with those of us in the same boat.  The Gooferment has stolen our savings by “taxation” and “inflation” in exchange for (non-existent) “protection” and (bankrupt and misrepresented) “insurance”.

What’s a crime victim to do?

Admin Over Adolescents: 7 Ways Illinois’ Bureaucracy Is Siphoning Money From Classrooms

Friday, June 8, 2018

Authored by Ted Dabrowski and John Klingner via Wirepoints.com, Listen to education officials’ demands for more money and it’s easy to believe Illinois grossly underspends on K-12 education. A $7.2 billion funding lawsuit to double state contributions to classroom spending, a $40,000 minimum wage demand for teachers, and lawmakers’ rejection of limits to school district borrowing might bolster that impression.

CHROMEBOOK: “Planned Obsolescence” or “End Of Life”

Friday, June 8, 2018

One of my beloved Chromebooks — ET101 Samsung — updated the Chrome OS and popped up an “End Of Life” message.

What?

It’s EOL when it dies.

Is this part of Google’s attempt to follow in Apple’s “planned obsolesce” “architecture”?

Personally, if the Chromebook is supposed to be the “toaster” appliance of the computer age, then it should old go “end of life” when it goes to chromebook heaven.  I have toasters that lasted until the lady of the house decided the exterior could no longer be clean enough.  Not my problem, but an example of “Western Electric” telephone handset engineering.  Capable of operating after a flood or a nuke.

I am very upset.

And as if to rub my nose it (i.e., EOL), google helpfully offers me a selection of upgrades.

ARGH cubed!

Friday, June 8, 2018

“Though New York City has one of the most segregated schools systems in the country,” writes Elizabeth Harris of The New York Times, until now, Mayor Bill de Blasio “was all but silent on the issue.” He was “reluctant even to use the word ‘segregation.’” Now the notion that the liberal mayor belongs in the same basket as Southern governors in the ’50s and ’60s like Orval Faubus of Arkansas and Ross Barnett of Mississippi seems a bit of a stretch.

Owner of the Lolita Express and Orgy Island

Thursday, June 7, 2018

Have you noticed, fellow truth-seekers, how the information we are pursuing seems to be coming at us in fits and starts these days? How some investigations begin, are stalled, and others long forgotten return to the public eye? As we attempt to decipher and interpret revelations about behind-the-scenes sexual abuse and pedophelia among the powerful elite in our society, we might do well to imagine a larger, more coherent process taking place that adheres to the well-worn phrase: timing is everything.

No doubt, Jeffrey Epstein has dirt on many friends in high places, like the aforementioned Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, and even Donald Trump, who is known to have visited Epstein’s island. Perhaps this is where FBI interests lie, or perhaps it is in gathering information about people who are not in the public eye. Is it possible that the FBI is leveraging Epstein to continue to get enough information to eventually prosecute people who are higher up the totem pole? One would hope so, although there are certainly less promising conclusions one could draw on the strength of this piece of information alone.

Texas Bullion Depository Open for Business

Thursday, June 7, 2018

The Texas Bullion Depository officially opened for business this week. The creation of the facility represents a power-shift away from the federal government, and sets the foundation to undermine the Federal Reserve’s monopoly on money.

The Texas Bullion Depository will create a mechanism to challenge the federal government’s monopoly on money and provides a blueprint for other states to follow. If the majority of states controlled their own supply of gold, and people began using precious metals in daily transactions, it could conceivably make the Federal Reserve completely irrelevant.

Reason #6831 Why Gun Registration Is Evil – Bearing Arms

Wednesday, June 6, 2018

There’s a saying that ignorance of the law is no defense, which I get. I really do.Yet at some point, there has to be a line. If men and women can be arrested when they’re clearly trying to not break the law, then what hope does any law-abiding citizen have? There’s a theory that the average person goes through life committing something like three felonies per day. I don’t know how accurate that is, but I have little difficulty believing that we break laws all the time without realizing it.

All of Oxford’s siblings, friends, and his fiancée were dead by the time his family held a service for him in a high school auditorium near Concord. Nonetheless, hundreds of people turned out—dozens of relatives, as well as scores of neighbors, veterans, local politicians, and other well-wishers. At a ceremony before the burial, a framed photo of the airman stood next to his casket. Beside it, his family placed pictures of the other seven Hot as Hell crewmembers.

Vin Suprynowicz » Blog Archive » On Reporters Who Ask No (Unapproved) Questions

Friday, June 1, 2018

Yet you’ll remember back when Hillary collapsed and had to be thrown bodily into her van at the World Trade Center memorial observances in Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2016, she and her doctor claimed she had “pneumonia” — “pneumonia” which was curiously all better when she emerged from her daughter’s apartment to greet the gathered folk out on the sidewalk about an hour later.Doctors report someone who has pneumonia so severe as to cause a complete fainting collapse do not “get all better” within an hour.

Also, Donald Trump (who — contrary to most reporting — often initially says a lot less than he really knows) commented that Hillary would show up for the presidential debates all buzzing with energy, but less than two hours later would need help shuffling into her van — kind of like someone who was being “juiced up” for special occasions.

Yet reporters — whose first job is to be curious — shrieked that it was (and apparently remains, to this day) completely out-of-line to challenge the “official version” on Hillary’s health, that only black helicopter Conspiracy Nuts would visit the Vidzette Web site and listen to Dr. Ted Noel explain that Hillary Clinton was showing every sign of the mood-and energy-swings of a patient on L-Dopa therapy (which can create a high like cocaine, followed by a serious slump) for advanced Parkinson’s Disease.
