Why the US is minting its last penny, and what happens now

(NEXSTAR) — The day has finally come: the U.S. Mint is pressing its last pennies on Wednesday. It comes as retailers across the country are already facing empty penny slots in their cash registers.

What FDR Did to Our Money
By: Jacob Hornberger|Published on: Nov 12, 2025
*** begin quote ***
For more than 125 years, the United States had a gold-coin, silver-coin monetary system. No, it was not a paper-money system backed by gold, as so many mainstream commentators have been taught to believe. It was a system in which gold coins and silver coins were the official money of the American people.

Penny candy, Nickel cigars, Dime store comics, and Quarter a gallon gas!
Hopefully, this action by the mint will drive home to “We, The Sheeple” that they have been robbed of their birthright.
Prior to FDR, one could stack gold coins and save for your old age secure in the knowledge that your wealth could nit be silently stolen by the Gooferment via “inflation”.
The Dead Old White Guys knew what we have apparently forgotten as a society. Having lived thru an era of “not worth a Continental damn”, they knew that papa money was the Devil’s spawn.
I’ve posted many blog posts about “pony candy” and well-remember life was better when money was “honest”.
Perhaps, ₿itcoin will replace the “Federal Reserve Note”?
Save your nickels because they are the next to disappear.
Argh!

*** begin quote ***
House Shutdown Vote
The House reconvenes today and is expected to vote on a Senate bill to reopen the government. The vote comes on the 43rd day of the US’ longest shutdown.
Seven Democrats and one independent joined 52 Republicans to pass the Senate bill, which would fund much of the government through January. The Agriculture Department—which facilitates SNAP food benefits to 42 million Americans—would be funded through September 2026. The bill does not extend COVID-era healthcare subsidies for 24 million people who purchase plans under the Affordable Care Act. Democratic leaders had sought to make reopening the government conditional on extending those subsidies, due to expire Dec. 31. ACA marketplace premiums are projected to rise up to 30%, from 18%, without an extension. Federal health subsidies cost an estimated $1.8T in 2023, roughly 7% of the US gross domestic product.
Separately, airlines canceled an estimated 6% of flights at 40 of the US’ busiest airports yesterday amid ongoing air traffic controller shortages.
*** end quote ***
Why is the Gooferment regulating and operating “Aviation”?
It should ONLY be regulating as necessary. Clearly a consortium of commercial airlines could do a better job and cheaper. Surely a private entity would not be running on 1950’s hardware and software. Additionally, the Gooferment is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy. So, there would be efficiencies and cost reductions.
This goes for Air Traffic Control and Airports.
Now there would have to be some role for “private aviation” and “military aviation” in this consortium. But those details can be worked out between the parties involved.
Airports would be just like any other corporate establishment regulated by the state or local Gooferment.
I can see a much better future once we #privatizetheFAA!

Gabapentin Nation: Almost All Aches And Irritations Now Get This Off-Label Pill
2025 Nov 11 at 10:31
by Bill Heid
in Pain-Free Living Off The Grid
*** begin quote ***
The Quiet Rise of a Pharmaceutical Star
It didn’t start out this way. Back in the ’90s, gabapentin was just another seizure med. Then came the sales push. The company behind it sent reps and doctors to fancy dinners and “educational retreats,” where talk quietly turned to off-label uses—headaches, mood swings, ADHD, you name it. Eventually, that little scheme cost them almost half a billion in fines. You’d think that would’ve ended the story.
But then the opioid crisis hit. When OxyContin started wrecking lives and headlines screamed addiction and death, doctors needed something—anything—that wouldn’t destroy their patients or careers.
Gabapentin looked like a safe harbor: cheap, not technically addictive, and tolerated well enough. So, when the pain didn’t fit a neat category, gabapentin became the fallback.
*** end quote ***
Seems like an over prescribed med. Wonder when we’ll see the ads “if you were hurt by Gabapentin, call 1-800-gab-pent to join our class action suit”. Of course, like all “class actions”, only the lawyers get rich.
And, like thalidomide, when do the bad effects become visible?
Married to a chronic pain after amputation sufferer, she report that it’s “not very effective and only dulls the pain for an hour”. If so, why bother?
Wonder when we will see the studies about ill-effects and Big Pharma abuses?

*** begin quote ***
PRINCIPLES OF SELF-SUFFICIENCY
From the long-running and oft-quoted The Mcalvany Intelligence Advisor
- Change the way you look at everything. Rethink your entire lifestyle.
- Develop discernment about people.
- When you invest, invest first in the right people.
- Look at yourself honestly, and ascertain your strengths and your weaknesses.
- Seek the counsel of others you trust.
- Find like-minded people who can be part of a mutual support group with whom you can cooperate.
- Find alternate methods for doing everything.
- Develop an instinct for what doesn’t feel right. No matter how good something looks or sounds on the surface, go with your gut feeling, with your instinct, with your intuition.
- Eliminate non-essentials from your life. Eliminate all time wasters and money wasters, and things you don’t need – i.e. clothes, furniture, junk, etc. Eliminate television from your life.
- Simplify your lifestyle – learn to say ‘no’ to things or activities which do not make you self-sufficient. Learn to please God and yourself, and not other people.
- Develop physical, mental and spiritual disciplines.
- Learn to treat everything as if it were irreplaceable.
- Buy things that will last, even if they cost more.
- Acquire tools that do not depend upon electric power.
- Learn to spend time alone with yourself in total silence – think, reflect, reminisce, and plan [or strategize] in silence.
- Learn to spend time alone with yourself and your family, apart from superficial entertainment and distractions.
- Learn something from every situation you are in – everything you hear, see, touch, or feel has a lesson in it. Learn a principle from every mistake you make, from everyday life situations.
- Make sure your trust is in the Lord and not your own preparedness. Pattern your preparedness according to the guidance of the Lord. Listen to what the Lord puts in your heart – don’t use only your reasoning power.
- Learn to enjoy simple pleasures from the smallest things – have a measure of joy and happiness that doesn’t come from creature comforts or entertainment.
- Store up memories for times of isolation or separation from your loved ones.
- Establish priorities for all of life [i.e. relationship, needs, present needs, future needs.] Set goals for areas you’ll be proficient or self-sufficient in. Set a schedule or timeline based on money and time you can invest in self-sufficiency.
- Examine the concept of civil disobedience [from the Bible and history.] At what point should the people of Egypt have said ‘no’ to killing the male babies in Moses’ day? At what point should the people of colonial America have said ‘no’ to King George? At what point should the people of Germany have said ‘no’ to Hitler? At what point do we say ‘no’ to despots in our day – when they take over money, our property, our guns, our children, our freedom? Decide what is your action point – when do you move to civil disobedience? [For many throughout history – it was when evil leaders handed down edicts that were directly contrary to God’s Word or commands.] Don’t set your action point too early or too quickly – nor too late or never. Think through and calculate a strategy – then act on it.
- Learn to ask the right questions in every situation. [In ‘Operation Waco,’ nobody asked the right questions.]
- Bring orderliness into your life. If you live in disorder, it will pull you down; it will break your focus. Think focus versus distraction. Eliminate the distractions from your life.
- Self-sufficiency [or survival] principles are learned on a day-to-day basis and must be practical.
- Always have more than one way to escape, more than one way to do something. Have a plan B and a plan C.
- Everyday life [and especially crisis] requires ‘up-front systems’ and ‘back-up systems’ if the first line of defense or ‘up-front systems fails.
- Real education [or learning] takes place only when change occurs in our attitudes, actions, and way of life.
- Wisdom is making practical applications of what you know. It is not enough to know everything you need to know. It will only serve you and others if practical application is made of that knowledge.
- Fix in your own mind the truth about your capabilities. In a crisis situation, this principle will keep you from cockiness [or overconfidence] and will provide you with confidence.
- Decide ahead of time before a crisis arrives, how you will react in a given situation so that you are not swayed by the circumstances, the situation, or your emotions.
- Beware of being spread too thin in your life. Decide on the few things in life that you must do and do them well. Think focus versus distraction. Make sure that unimportant, non-essential distractions don’t keep you from achieving your important objectives.
- Learn to quit wasting things. Be a good steward of all that God provides.
- Buy an extra one of everything you use regularly and set the extra one aside for the time when such items may be difficult or impossible to obtain.
- In every situation, train yourself to look for what doesn’t fit, for what’s out of place, for what doesn’t look right.
- Teach your children [and yourself] that they are not obligated to give information to a stranger. You don’t have to answer questions [not even to a government official] that are none of their business.
- Sell or give away things you do not use or need. Consider giving away or selling 50% of your ‘stuff,’ [i.e. the non-essentials.] Simplify and streamline your life, lifestyle and possessions.
- Find someone who lived through the Great Depression and learn from them how they were self-sufficient, how they made do with little, and how they found joy and contentment in the midst of hard times. An excellent book on this subject is We Had Everything But Money: Priceless Memories of the Great Depression From Strong People Who Tell In Their Own Words What It Was Like When Banks Closed and Hearts Opened.
*** end quote ***
I particularly like “Real education [or learning] takes place only when change occurs in our attitudes, actions, and way of life.”
My life would have been a lot different if I’d have made changes in my “attitude”.
Too late, we learn.
Sigh!

“So now we learn that one in eight Americans are receiving SNAP benefits. Another nail in our coffin. Those who are working support many others who are not and most could work at something. We are also an aging nation, as many families choose to not have children, or just one or two. So they are supporting with their taxes more and more people who could but do not work. We are in deep trouble and both the Republicans and the Democrats, and way too many Americans have little to no understanding that only capitalism can fix things. We have actually never had pure Capitalism and we are now a welfare nation. Sooner or later, those who work and save will wake up, but will not be able to do anything about it. The only way seems to be we have another revolution like we did back in the late 1700s to divorce ourselves from England.
No nation can last long with an albatross like that around its neck. Saying goodbye to the America that once had such promise.”

I was also ASTONISHED when the 1 in 8 stat came out.
For whatever reason, this is unsustainable.
In bygone days, I knew men who were denied benefits because they were “able bodied”. Now it seems like everyone is “disabled” for reasons OTHER than a missing arm or leg, blind, or some physically flaw.
Not sure how this “epidemic” gets rolled back, but maybe it’s a simple as just just saying: “Sorry we’re broke. (All too true!) And you will have to find help elsewhere.”
Maybe it’s cruel but so it REAL LIFE. In Nature, a disabled animal is just lunch for another.
Maybe this is the “Darwin Award”?
Or the Gooferment policy that will lead to the revitalization of the various charitable organizations like the Elks, Moose, VFW, AL, and the ethnic clubs like Irish, Germans, Italians had when I was young.

Trump on why he pardoned Binance CEO: “Are you ready? I don’t know who he is.”
Trump family business could benefit from pardon of crypto ex-con Changpeng Zhao.

President Trump says he still doesn’t know who Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao is, despite having pardoned Zhao last month.
CBS correspondent Norah O’Donnell asked Trump about the pardon in a 60 Minutes interview that aired yesterday, noting that Zhao pleaded guilty to violating anti-money laundering laws. “The government at the time said that C.Z. had caused ‘significant harm to US national security,’ essentially by allowing terrorist groups like Hamas to move millions of dollars around. Why did you pardon him?” O’Donnell asked.
*** end quote ***
After the Biden fiasco of autopen pardons, @realDonaldTrump should create a “Devil’s Advocate” to speak against pardoning people. Maybe we could get Judge Judy to chair a TV trial with a retired judge to act as the Devil’s Advocate versus the lawyer who thinks his client deserves one.
Put it on Pay Per View for a few buck to defer the expense. It’d make Survivor or the Bachelor look tame by comparison. Judge “Don’t Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It’s Raining” Judy Sheindlin could hear both sides and then issue a recommendation to the President. Of course, that recommendation meeting could be on PPV too where the President could sign it for all to see.
I love this idea. (Who doesn’t love their own “baby”? No matter how ugly.). Your comments welcome.

We still have to solve some “illegal immigration” problems cause by the stupidity, malfeasance, and gross incompetence of previous administrations, politicians, and bureaucrats. Especially judges, who see the violent and dangerous felons routinely reappearing in front of them.
(1) Any “illegal immigrant”, who has been here for more that a decade living a good life without welfare or any criminal record, should get a parole and a pathway to citizenship.
(2) Any “illegal immigrant”, who was brought here as a child, and has no criminal record, should get parole and a pathway to citizenship.
(3) Any politicians or bureaucrats, who hinder the efforts of DHS, should be arrested, indicted, and get a fair trial. If guilty, as a condition of sentence, should be barred from political office or Gooferment employment.
(4) Any formal statement — oral or written — in any form (e.g., twitter) — by politicians or bureaucrats — should be considered under oath and subject to perjury prosecution.
That should clean up this mess quickly.

Why Does Natural Medicine Caution Against Suppressing Fevers?
Exploring the link between Tylenol and Autism
A Midwestern Doctor
The Forgotten Side of Medicine
Nov 02, 2025
*** begin quote ***
Story at a Glance:
- Over-the-counter (OTC) pain and fever medications are widely used despite having marginal efficacy and significant side effects that hospitalize hundreds of thousands of Americans each year.
- While a widespread practice, using these medications to reduce fevers has long been controversial, both due to their toxicity and the notion that fevers are essential for health.
- During the 1918 Influenza pandemic, one of the most critical lessons was that avoiding fever suppression was vital for protecting patients from dying.
- While considered the “safest” option, Tylenol has a wide range of issues, including liver damage, gastrointestinal issues, blood cancers, and kidney injuries.
- An extensive body of data connects using Tylenol during pregnancy or in infancy to the development of neurological injuries (e.g., autism).
- Many of these tragic cases illustrate a longstanding observation within natural medicine—suppressing superficial reactions (e.g., fevers) can transform illnesses into chronic ailments that can cause far more issues.
*** and ***
Many consider NSAIDs (ibuprofen and naproxen) amongst the most hazardous drugs in the U.S. because:
- They are the leading cause of drug-related hospital admissions
- Kidney damage is a significant risk.
- NSAIDs raise cardiovascular risks.
- Gastrointestinal bleeding
- They impair healing, especially of ligaments
*** end quote ***
My string of kidney docs — thanks to all the changing of insurance networks during Obamacare — have ALL warned me not to take ANY “pain treatments” without consultation.
Those pregnant women with TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) are really brainwashed. Even if DJT47 is wrong, why would you risk your baby and your own health to prove a political point.
And, we should learn from the history of medicine with the axion “first do no harm” that sometimes doing nothing is the best strategy and tactic. Many from Eastern and Western medical traditions have urged that body can hal itself in some cases.
Humans should be humble and realize that we can’t know it all and have to be careful when “popping pills”.
Some conditions don’t ned Big Pharma’s quick fixes.
Sigh!

I prefer that we revert to the old meaning of 11 November — Armistice Day.
On November 11, 1918, the armistice between the Allied nations and Germany took effect, marking the end of major hostilities. The following year, the date was remembered as Armistice Day, dedicated to honoring those who served in the “war to end all wars.”
And go back to the “end all wars” feeling that WWI generated.
“Only way to win is not to play at all” — from the movie ‘War Games’
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.”

Democratic Socialist Plans Will Only Make NYC Worse
By Michael Chapman
*** begin quote ***
The Nature of Democratic Socialism
Libertarian economists have long explained that democratic socialism does not involve outright government seizure of the means of production. Rather, it manifests through layers of government interference in the private sector—via regulations, taxes, mandates, and bureaucratic controls. Each intervention distorts market processes, producing inefficiencies and crises that, in turn, invite yet more intervention. The cycle repeats, expanding state power and eroding prosperity.
A contemporary example can be seen in the Democrats’ push to extend Obamacare subsidies, which are set to expire at year’s end. These subsidies were meant to stabilize insurance markets, yet their expiration will drive premiums upward. The government created this instability by intervening in healthcare and now seeks to intervene again—at an estimated cost of $415 billion over ten years—to “fix” the problem it caused.
This incremental approach is socialism by installments: policy by policy, the private market is replaced with a government-run one. Mamdani’s proposals fit within this framework.
*** end quote ***
Congress is a known cesspool for producing market distortions. Creates more opportunities for “insider trading”. How else do so many enter broke and leave grazilionairs?
How can “We, The Sheeple” stop this ever quickening slide into Socialism / Communism? End “Federal Gooferment Benefit” programs. If the States want welfare, let them pass and pay for it. No more “sugar” coming from the Feds.
Also, eliminate all “non-profit” entities — NGO’s, “Foundations”, and “Trusts”.
End the cycle of “political contributions” that come from “winners” of lucrative Gooferment contracts.
Political contributions Should be limited to small amounts from “inside” the representative’s district.
Time to shrink all levels of Gooferment!

When The Church Whispers: Why Silence Is No Longer An Option
By Christian Vezilj
*** begin quote ***
The Cost of Cowardice
When the Church is silent, evil advances. When pastors refuse to speak, laws are passed that mock God’s design. When parishioners are not guided, they vote blindly or not at all. And when Christians abandon the ballot box, they abandon the battlefield.
This is not just a political failure, it is a spiritual one. For a man who does not stand up and fight for truth is not merely passive. He is disobedient. “Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins” (James 4:17).
God did not call His people to comfort. He called them to courage. He did not promise ease; He promised presence. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you” (Deuteronomy 31:6). That promise was not just for Joshua—it is for every believer who dares to speak truth in a hostile world.
*** end quote ***
I firmly believe that just as a bee hive can only have one queen, so Gooferment — the gang that claims its God-give right to inflict violence on everyone within a given geographical area and sometimes outside of that area — see the Church, any church, as a rival for the loyalty of the individuals within their domain.
Further, I think that when the Roman Catholic Church allowed pedophiles to inflict harm on little children, the Gooferment was perfectly happy to let it happen and then use it to blackmail it into silence. Gooferment Skrules were allowed to kill parochial education. Politicians were not condemned and excommunicated for their positions on abortion and euthanasia. And, the non-profit status was used as an additional club for their silence.
Only Black Churches and Pastors resisted that club by ignoring it. Unfortunately, they misgudedly supported politicians that inflicted the welfare state and drugs on their neighborhoods.
Until “We, The Sheeple” wake up and take back their liberty from Gooferment, we have no savior in any other entity.
Argh!

More Hints at What’s Coming in 2026
Administrator — Posted on October 28, 2025Categories
*** begin quote ***
In an interview last week, the U.S. Secretary of Treasury made an odd statement that was simultaneously ignored and discarded. We caught it, though, and you should again be made aware of what it foreshadows.
And what was that odd statement from Secretary Bessent?
As you undoubtedly know, the U.S. dollar has not been connected to the gold price since 1971 and the U.S. currently carries its 8,133 metric tonnes of gold at $42.22 per ounce. As such, how in the heck does a rising gold price “help the U.S. substantially”? Why does it even matter? And in this context, it’s a very odd thing for the sitting U.S. Secretary of Treasury to say.
However, what if we changed the context?
- What if, instead, the U.S. is planning to monetize the asset side of its balance sheet?
- What if, instead, the U.S. is planning to revalue its gold reserves in order to create a “deficit neutral” funding vehicle for its planned Bitcoin Reserve?
- What if the U.S. Congress was considering a new bill to codify a gold revaluation as part of a Bitcoin and Sovereign Wealth Fund?
- What if The U.S. Federal Reserve was already studying the impact of an official gold price revaluation?
Under those conditions, the seemingly odd, throwaway comment by Secretary Bessent makes a lot of sense. The higher the gold price, the more “deficit neutral” funding cash becomes available. Again, here’s the process. It’s plainly written into both bills that are currently before Congress:

Guess that could make a dent in the 33T$ national debt? NOT!

The Stockdale Paradox: A Philosophic Principle for Tough Times
*** begin quote ***
Years later, when his plane was shot down and he was imprisoned in the infamous POW camp known as the “Hanoi Hilton,” Epictetus’s Enchiridion would become a survival manual for Stockdale and the men he led. It would also help birth a guiding principle that got Stockdale through seven and a half years — four of them in solitary confinement — of torture and debasement: what’s now called the “Stockdale Paradox.”
*** and ***
Stockdale paused and said:
You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end — which you can never afford to lose — with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.
That single sentence became known as the Stockdale Paradox.
In practice, it meant living in two opposing realities at once: facing the brutal truth of the moment while maintaining unbreakable faith in the eventual positive outcome.
*** end quote ***
Brutal honesty and unshakeable faith?
Not sure that if presented with a test like the Hanoi Hilton, then I could conduct myself so well. One can only hope. I’d pray make my “tests” small in proportion to my character.
I remember the “Perot – Stockdale” ticket.
I can’t look into Ross Perot’s soul but I believe he was there as a “spoiler” to allow Bill Clinton to defeat both Bush and Bob Dole. Near the end of the campaign, I remember Perot’s antics to distroy his chances of winning. To me it was an obvious prize fighter’s “dive” because the fix was in.
It’s a shame and a national disgrace that “democracy” is really an “oligarchy”. The Dead Old White Guys must be rolling over.
Sigh!

Libertarians have many of the right answers to the problems facing the United States and need to be heard loud and clear above the confusion disseminated by the mainstream media and their lackeys in government, all bought and paid for by the crony capitalists of Wall Street.
If all of the nickels and pennies in circulation rather suddenly disappeared, it would generate a lot of media attention and curiosity on the part of the public. It would be a brilliant protest against the devaluation of our currency and the debasement of the Republic by the bankers and their ilk. Change could be made only to the nearest dime.
There are roughly 140 billion pennies and 28 billion nickels in circulation. It would “cost” only $2.8 billion dollars to remove them all from circulation. If we can find 2.8 million libertarians to each accumulate $1000 of pennies and nickels, we will be heard loud and perhaps clear. I use the quotes on “cost” to indicate that it actually could be quite profitable to remove these coins from circulation.

I’m in for that boycott!
And, the Mint is stopping making pennies soon. Next year?
Count me in!

Something for “We, The Sheeple” in the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerk to remember this Election Day?
Your candidate is a self-proclaimed Communist.
“The problem with socialism is that you can vote your way into it but you need to shoot your way out of it.” — Larry Lambert
When NYC becomes a “socialist paradise” like Cuba, at least the escape won’t be as far or as dangerous?
Unless this mentality infects the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee too.

Homesteading: Home Again, Home Again
The wonders of dairy

At one time, this country had a strong volunteer base to help those who needed help; the government has since replaced many of those efforts. Of course, we hope that as the government shrinks, our volunteer efforts must grow. We must grow a strong, giving populace and a strong economy – to help those who need help. Not because we must provide help when truly needed, but because we can and want to. Because we want to build our local communities up, as well as the people who live in them. We must rebuild our culture of giving… That is truly the American way.
But these efforts won’t develop overnight. It will take resources, organization, and time to build such a culture again. So we have a problem in the United States today; there are people who need our help now.
*** end quote ***
I see many “social clubs” languishing and eventually dying out. The Italian American club in North Brunswick recently sold out. My American Legion post has all aging members and very little “new blood”. Same for the local VFW. Last gasps?
As the Gooferment devalues our money stealing our wealth and increases the welfare roles, it shoves the local Churches and Civic organizations into oblivion. So, in short, welfare is nothing more than redistribution of wealth, or theft. Those in legitimate need could have their needs better met by private companies or charities without government involvement, and without forcing others to pay for it.
I’ve read many stories of American in the past where charity was very local and very selective. It also rebuilt the civic society by stressing individual responsibility and a “helping hand” bu t not a “handout”.
I remember the Black Churches on the 50’s and 60’s where families worshiped together and stood proud in their communities. They may have been poor in material wealth but were “rich” in their community.
The Gooferment destroyed all of that.
The “plantation of slaves” was rebuilt by Gooferment handouts.
So sad.
Not sure if it can ever be reversed.
I remember Samuel Jackson as Zeus in the movie “Die Hard”.
Zeus: *So who’s gonna help you*?
Dexter: We’re gonna help ourselves.
Zeus: And who do we not want to help us?
Dexter, Raymond: White people.
Zeus: That’s right. Now get on outta here. Go to school.
Sounds like the absolute truth!

Boy, do I hate AI! It seems that when some Corporation deigns to allow you to email about a problem, they have AI reply with a canned response which has nothing to do with my problem.
Don’t they realize the damage that they are doing to their brand? Or do they just don’t care.

Brazilian Woman in the US Delivers Powerful Takedown of America’s Nanny State (Video)
by Margaret Flavin Oct. 30, 2025 2:00 pm
*** begin quote ***
A Brazilian woman now in the US took to social media to deliver a powerful and accurate takedown of America’s nanny state that has become even more visible during the Schumer shutdown.
“The left is so funny,” she began. “Workers who don’t work, students who don’t study, educators who don’t educate, and politicians who cannot lead, so they buy votes instead. But somehow they figured it out.”
“They create dependence and call it compassion.”
“They create victims and call it justice, create laziness and call it equality.”
*** and ***
“Now, I’m going to say something that is controversial, but shouldn’t be. I don’t think these people should vote, honestly. How can you vote freely when you’re being bought?”
“Welfare was supposed to be temporary help, but it’s become a lifestyle.”
“Worse than that, it’s become a political strategy.”
*** end quote ***
I’m impressed that this unnamed “Brazilian woman” can so aptly describe our “welfare” problem.
I’d be more impressed if she was identified. Perhaps she’s an illegal and on the dole she complains about. How would we know she’s not.
Part of being a “cynical skeptic” is to doubt EVERYTHING. Even if it’s taking “your side”. Perhaps, then is when we should be the strictist when exmining the “evidence” we like..
Argh!
But, regardless, the USA has a problem with the “Welfare / Warfare” state that we can’t afford.
