INNOVATION: This Library In Minecraft Was Built By 24 People To Fight Censorship Across The World

Most of us live in countries where freedom of speech is considered a fundamental human right and it would be hard to imagine living in a different state than that. However, not all of us are blessed with this sometimes overlooked right as there are a number of countries in this world where governments actively censor their citizens, especially those whose profession is to report facts.

In a number of places around the world, journalists are banned, jailed, exiled, and even killed for their words. In order to make their message heard and reach the places where they’re banned, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) opened a special type of library that could reach millions. They built it in Minecraft.

First thing I thought of — tiny homes — when I first heard of “homelessness”!  That and ending “rent control”.  And, reopening the mental hospitals.  Also, ending the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs” shifting resources from prisons to treatment.

If we had more tiny homes neighborhoods, then the problem could be solved.

But, the Gooferment prevents entrepreneurial people from figuring how to solve the problem and make a few bucks out of it.  Remember — “no margin; no mission”!

Blue Shield expects that 250 to 500 newborns will be eligible for the whole genome sequencing each year, which represents about 10 percent of their insured babies treated in neonatal intensive care units in California. Company executive vice president Terry Gilliland said he will encourage other Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans around the country to adopt a similar policy. “When you think about all the pain and suffering families go through with sick babies, this is going to be an enormous benefit,” he says.

I can think back to TWO babies in my life who could have used this.  Maybe it could have prevented a one or both fatalities.  And, maybe all the associated heartbreak.

Don’t know how much it costs, but like all technology the cost will come down.

HAPPINESS: No fretting, hesitating, calculating, or pontificating

I’ll get “concerned” when “Corona” aka Wuhan virus fatalities reach that of “normal” flue death rates.  Per John Hopkins, flu causes around 50k deaths every year.  Again, mostly among the elderly. 

The 24 hour news cycle (“if it bleeds, it leads”) is whipping “We, The Sheeple” into a frenzy. 

The stock market has yet to take into account the fantastically low price of oil.  Gas prices, airlines driving cost factor, and trucking expense will drop like a rock.  If I was a retail investor, I’d be buying  — cruise lines, air travel, and consumer goods.  I’d be selling all the “legacy” industries. 

IMHO.  In six months, Wuhan will be like the “bird flu”  —  forgotten.  No need to panic. 

Just take normal precautions with more attention to the “most common touch points” (i.e., door knobs, ATMs, bars, restaurants, Post Offices, doctors’ offices, and such).  Have to relax; look both ways when you cross the street so as not to get hit by bus or drunken driver.

Calm common sense. ZZZZzzzzz!

Isn’t the Gooferment supposed to be like the sports referee?  Calling fair or foul in the cases before them.  Well this meme is destroyed in this particular case.  The Gooferment allowed this to be covered up and no individual was held accountable.

Does this illustrate the incestuous relationship between the corporation and the Gooferment?

Remember that GM was derisively called “Gooferment Motors” after BHO44 screwed the GM bondholders and “saved” GM from bankruptcy.  The Gooferment had a bias in favor of GM’s continued existence.

Marco Rubio of all people has proposed a bill to make DST permanent and “lock the clock,” but as with most things in Congress, it’s stalled.But it shouldn’t be. Making DST permanent might be one of the few things both sides of the aisle can agree on, so here’s hoping that the bill gets more attention and movement as we go back to daylight savings time this weekend. Hopefully, we won’t have to fall back again.

I don’t understand why we don’t just use GMT all the time everywhere.  It would simplify everything everywhere.

Now there will be some “adaption” to different labels (i.e., “9 to 5” may become “14 to 20”) but who cares.

The military has been using ZULU for forever.
