WASHINGTON (AP) — The 64-35 roll call Friday by which the Senate approved the two-year budget and debt deal and sent it to President Barack Obama.

A “yes” vote is a vote to pass the measure.
Voting yes were 44 Democrats, 18 Republicans and 2 independents.
Voting no were 0 Democrats and 35 Republicans.

When three homeless veterans were laid to rest last week, their funerals were given dignity and respect from an unlikely source: high school students.

Five seniors and a junior from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy in Detroit, Michigan served as the pallbearers for funerals of veterans who had not been claimed by loved ones.

As Catholics, one of the corporal works of mercy is to bury the dead.

These young men certainly taught the nation a lesson.

Where were the Representatives and Senators of these dead vets?

Shame on them.

Actions speak louder than words; don’t tell me that you “support the troops”. Those are just words.

Sadly, words is all we get today.
