The Fraud of the Social Security ‘Trust Fund’ Exposed by a Most Unlikely Source

by DON BOUDREAUX on JULY 16, 2011

in MYTHS AND FALLACIES, OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY, POLITICS, SOCIAL SECURITY, VIDEO, WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE COUNTRY

*** begin quote ***

Today’s Wall Street Journal exposes the lie that is the so-called “Social Security Trust Fund” – and further reveals the disgraceful flippancy with which politicians and their go-fers mislead the public about it.

*** and ***

An I.O.U. that you write to yourself and that you yourself hold might be a useful accounting device, but it is not wealth. Unfortunately, many politicians and bureaucrats enamored with Social Security lie (the word is not too strong) repeatedly about the nature of these bonds and what they imply about the solvency of Social Security.

*** end quote ***

Using the word “trust” in connection with ANY politician and or bureaucrat is the height of stupidity.

As I tell jobseekers, “the only paycheck you can count on is the ones that you have cashed”.

How can we convince “We, The Sheeple” that there is no “Trust Fund”. If the money was given to MetLife, Prudential, or even used to buy a farm or a factory. That has a chance to bear fruit in future years.

Even if one bought an annuity with their “Social Security Insurance” “contributions”, then you’d have a chance of a return. Even a Ponzi scheme is more moral; the scammer can’t MAKE you give your wealth away. The Gooferment will kill you if you don’t.

Argh!

Frau Reinke paid in for years, got 8 months back, and I got her $225 death “benefit”. For decades of “contributions”!

Disgraceful. Robbery.

As part of the settlement, Class Counsel will submit a request for attorneys’ fees, expenses, and incentive awards for the Class Representatives as more fully set forth in the Full Notice described below which will be paid by Verizon Wireless and will not affect the benefits to the class under the Settlement.

OTHER OPTIONS. If you do not want to be legally bound by the settlement, you must exclude yourself by September 27, 2011. If you stay in the Settlement Class, you may object to the settlement, the attorneys’ fees or the incentive payments by September 27, 2011. Marilyn Monroe alleged sex film surfaces

(AP) BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – A Spanish collector plans to auction what he claims is a newly discovered 8-mm version of a film purportedly showing Marilyn Monroe having sex when she was still an underage actress known as Norma Jean Baker.

Shame on CBS for treating this as “news”.

We have girls and boys dying around the world, people are starving in Africa, and baking to death here in the USA. That’s “news”!

My son’s FIRST birthday was July 12th. My 3 year anniversary is August 14th. When I left my son, he could barely roll over flawlessly and now he is just doing all types of things. I was skyping with my wife, my son was in her arms, I forgot that he was all grown up and he jumped out of her arms. The first thing I think is OH NO my son fell, BUT NO!! He jumped out of her arms and WALKED away. Like he thinks he’s grown. He might as well get a job and get a license while he’s at it. I did get him a birthday present. I hope he will like it.

Bernanke Fights Ron Paul In Congress: Gold Isn’t Money

“Is gold money?” he asked. Clearly bothered, Bernanke told the representative, “No. It’s a precious metal.”

Clearly, the Federal Reserve Banknote is NOT a store of value. 95% loss of value from 1970 to 2000.

But, Ron Paul has to admit that gold isn’t either. It’s not a medium of exchange. Was; could be; ain’t.

Two never-finished Navy ships head to scrap heap

They were the only two that went unfinished, and were part of a 1985 budget request from the Navy for three oilers for a combined $567 million, according to records.

The two were built at the Pennsylvania Shipbuilding Co. in Philadelphia, which defaulted on its Navy contract in 1989. The ships were then sent to Florida to be finished. But disputes over costs and materials in Tampa led to the termination of that contract in 1993, according to records.

POLITICAL: ½ California and ½ New Jersey to freedom?

Meet America’s 51st (Broke) State
by Tyler Durden

*** begin quote ***

(Editor’s Note: This would actually be a story with some legs if the Southern Californians wanted to secede and actually become a new nation, separate from the USA. But mostly it’s just an amusement piece.)

It is only fitting that a few days after South Sudan became the newest independent country to join the roster of IMF and World Bank “modernization and industrialization” targets, another Southern version of something should break apart, although some may be surprised that this latest secession is not somewhere in the middle of Africa, but in America’s own insolvent back yard. Meet Southern California. “Accusing Sacramento of pillaging local governments to feed its runaway spending and left-wing policies, a Riverside County politician is proposing a solution: He wants 13 mostly inland, conservative counties to break away to form a separate state of “South California.” Supervisor Jeff Stone, a Republican pharmacist from Temecula, called California an “ungovernable” financial catastrophe from which businesses are fleeing and where taxpayers are being crushed by the burden of caring for welfare recipients and illegal immigrants.” Ah yes, the heart of prosperity that is the Inland Empire, known for such great achievements as Hell’s Angels, the most ridiculous excesses of the housing bubble, Del Taco, and… that’s pretty much it. This sounds like yet another Swiss Watch plan.

*** end quote ***

Interesting in that maybe not only is the Federal Gooferment too big, but maybe states are too.

Staten Island wanted to come to New Jersey.

And, NJ could be broken in half. Trade North Jersey to New York for Staten Island. And, an undisclosed amount of cash.

Think of others Texas, Florida, North Carolina.

Anything that got too many people or too much land should be broken up.

As it all crumbles like the USSR, into smaller “moreresponsive to the people” units,

Secession?

One can only hope.

Shared Sacrifice in the Fiscal Crisis
David Boaz – July 18, 2011

*** begin quote ***

Currently the top one-tenth of 1 percent of American taxpayers pay 18 percent of the income taxes. The top 1 percent pay 38 percent of the income taxes, and the top 5 percent of taxpayers pay 59 percent of all income taxes. Just what percentage do President Obama and his allies think would be appropriate?

*** and ***

But here’s a way to satisfy both those who see spending as the problem and those who want the highest-taxed Americans to pay yet more: Start cutting subsidies to businesses and the rich. Let’s cut out the big-business subsidy machine, the Export-Import Bank. Let’s get rid of farm subsidies. Let’s tell affluent people who build houses in coastal flood areas to pay for their own flood insurance at market prices.

*** end quote ***

I like to point out that “corporate taxes” are a sham. Only “real people” pay taxes. Corporations either pass along their costs or fold. When Exxon pays taxes, they pass it along in every gallon of gas. Also, every corporation, that uses that gas with taxes built in, adds that cost to their cost. So when you pick up a can on bean in the supermarket, you are paying all those taxes. We can’t even figure out what we are paying in taxes. imho

Eleven 9/11 Questions Which Still Demand Answers
by Allen L Roland

*** begin quote ***

Warburton than makes his point ~ Crystallizing this down to a few basic principles of criminal and investigative journalism you at the BBC have failed as a fact to ask these basic questions about 9/11;

  1. Where is the film footage of the Boeing striking the Pentagon?
  2. Why haven’t your journalists asked the US authorities to see it? Why is it secret?
  3. Why haven’t you interviewed people like April Gallop who stepped through that Pentagon hole after the attack and said there was no plane there?
  4. Why haven’t you interviewed firefighters who heard explosions in the Twin Towers?
  5. Why haven’t you been able to show substantial wreckage (or photos of) from the Shanksville site?
  6. Why do you only interview explosives experts that back the official version ?
  7. Why don’t you speak to any pilots from pilots for 9/11truth ?
  8. Why don’t you speak to victim’s family members who still demand an independent investigation?
  9. Why are 5 of the alleged hijackers alive and well according to your own news reporting ? Who then did hijack the planes?
  10. Why aren’t you seeking written scientific evidence to rebut the compelling Thermite explosion claims of the teams of Richard Gage and Niels Harrit?
  11. Why are your programs “conspiracy files” on 9/11 so overtly biased as to not withstand scrutiny as fair and objective ~ and why don’t they address any of the above issues ?

*** and ***

“There was a dearth of visible debris on the relatively unmarked [Pentagon] lawn, where I stood only minutes after the impact. Beyond this strange absence of airliner debris, there was no sign of the kind of damage to the Pentagon structure one would expect from the impact of a large airliner. This visible evidence or lack thereof may also have been apparent to the secretary of defense [Donald Rumsfeld], who in an unfortunate slip of the tongue referred to the aircraft that slammed into the Pentagon as a “missile” … Lt. Col. Karen U. Kwiatkowski, PhD, U.S. Air Force (ret) – Former Political-Military Affairs Officer in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Also served on the staff of the Director of the National Security Agency.

TECHNOLOGY: “because he looks like another driver”?

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

http://tech.slashdot.org/story/11/07/18/0335204/Facial-Recognition-Gone-Wrong?

“John H. Gass hadn’t had a traffic ticket in years, so the Natick resident was surprised this spring when he received a letter from the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles informing him to cease driving because his license had been revoked. It turned out Gass was flagged because he looks like another driver, not because his image was being used to create a fake identity. His driving privileges were returned but, he alleges in a lawsuit, only after 10 days of bureaucratic wrangling to prove he is who he says he is. And apparently, he has company. Last year, the facial recognition system picked out more than 1,000 cases that resulted in State Police investigations, officials say. And some of those people are guilty of nothing more than looking like someone else. Not all go through the long process that Gass says he endured, but each must visit the Registry with proof of their identity. Massachusetts began using the software after receiving a $1.5 million grant from the US Department of Homeland Security as part of an effort to prevent terrorism, reduce fraud, and improve the reliability and accuracy of personal identification documents that states issue.”

Ryan calls fatal accident ‘sad,’ team sets up memorial fund

ARLINGTON — The day after what club president Nolan Ryan called “one of the saddest things” he has experienced at a ballpark, the Rangers set up a memorial fund for the family of Brownwood fireman Shannon Stone.

Stone died on Thursday night as the result of injuries sustained in a 20-foot fall from the left-field seats into an area behind the out-of-town scoreboard during a game against the A’s at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Flags flew at half-staff on Friday at the Ballpark and both teams were planning to wear a black ribbon on their uniforms for the game. A moment of silence will also be observed and information on the memorial fund will be made through the Texas Rangers Foundation.

Who Put Hannibal Lecter in Charge of Government Spending Cuts?
by Michael Cloud

*** begin quote ***

“What kind of heartless, sadistic animal are YOU?” demand Opponents of cutting government spending.

You remember Hannibal Lecter, don’t you? Perhaps you cringed while watching Anthony Hopkins portray him in “Silence of the Lambs.” Or perhaps you read Thomas Harris’ novels featuring him.

*** and ***

So why are opponents of government spending cuts letting Hannibal Lecter decide what to cut?

Why would opponents of government spending reductions appoint someone who takes delight in finding the most cruel ways to inflict pain?

But those are the wrong questions. Here are the right questions:

Why are opponents trying to convince Americans that any and every government spending reduction would inflict pain and injury?

Why are opponents of government spending cuts trying to scare us, guilt us, shame us, malign us, and intimidate us into shutting up?

How do they get away with this farce?

*** end quote ***

Yup, it’s a joke.

Any cut is a bad cut!
