FUN: Socialism

FROM LUDDITE:

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.

——————————————–

That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan”.

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.

The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D!

No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

# – # – #

OBVIOUSLY, an urban legend. No professor gives out F’s any more. Grade inflation!

Miss Obama’s peacenik T-shirt sends a message to G8 leaders

Her father had just won agreement from the Russians to cut back on the world’s stockpiles of nuclear weapons.

And Barack Obama’s eldest daughter was obviously keen to make her own statement on the issue – even if it was merely a fashion statement.

Just 48 hours after the U.S. President signed agreements with Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to reduce weapon stores, 11-year-old Malia Obama was spotted wearing not one, but two T-shirts with an anti-nuclear message.

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t politician’s children SUPPOSED to be off limits.

And, also correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s originally the Hippie anti-Catholic emblem from San Francisco (i.e., the broken upside down cross).

Is Obama using his children?

He’s certainly not controlling the political message that they are wearing?

Makes them a legitimate target for political controversy.

And, a good Christian father, smart and well educated, would know EXACTLY what the symbolism is.

Besides, 11 year old children don’t buy their own clothes.

Sorry, but this stinks.

I object to politicizing children. I object to the symbol. I object to the manipulation.

POLITICS: No politics at work when it comes to spending for the recovery

Billions in aid go to areas that backed Obama in ’08
By Brad Heath, USA TODAY

*** begin quote ***

WASHINGTON — Billions of dollars in federal aid delivered directly to the local level to help revive the economy have gone overwhelmingly to places that supported President Obama in last year’s presidential election.

That aid — about $17 billion — is the first piece of the administration’s massive stimulus package that can be tracked locally. Much of it has followed a well-worn path to places that regularly collect a bigger share of federal grants and contracts, guided by formulas that have been in place for decades and leave little room for manipulation.

“There’s no politics at work when it comes to spending for the recovery,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says.

Breakthrough on the Authorship of Obama’s ‘Dreams’
By Jack Cashill

*** begin quote ***

Within days of my going public last September with the speculation that terrorist emeritus Bill Ayers helped Barack Obama write his acclaimed memoir, Dreams From My Father, I learned that I was not alone in that intuition.

*** end quote ***

I remember a day in High School. I don’t remember THE day. Or even the year. But it was in High School. We had extensive “reading lists” that we were expected to conquer. It wasn’t part of any course; it just was to “magically” get done. A relatively fast reader, I polished them off by the end of the sophomore summer.

I remember a class discussion (The Brother teaching monologued about the book. The students got few chances to put in a penny’s worth.) The good Brother concluded with a “knock your socks off” question. (He was known for these!)

“Do you REALLY believe that Jack Kennedy wrote this book? And, why do you believe that? Because it’s printed on the cover.”

That was the end of my naiveté in politicians!

Does anyone really believe that Obama wrote “Dreams”?

Sorry, doesn’t pass the sniff test.

IMHO.

And, if that’s a fraud, what else is?

Kennedy conceal his Addison’s and his whoring. As a Catholic, that’s a terrible scandal. (Like pro-abortion CINO republican and democratic “catholic” politicians!)

Just can’t trust any of them.

TRUTH TO POWER: JAMES HOWARD KUNSTLER–A SNAKE EATING ITS OWN TAIL
Submitted by Carolyn Baker on Mon, 06/22/2009 – 5:54pm.

*** begin quote ***

The current mass delusion that will go down in history as the “green shoots fugue” can’t possibly bring the credit freak show back because the credit — i.e. money borrowed from the American future — was swindled away. Something like $14 trillion worth of nominal dollars is being sucked into a cosmic vortex never to be seen again. It was last seen in the spectral forms of so many collateralized debt obligations, credit default swaps, so-called structured investment vehicles and other now-obvious frauds. That giant sucking sound we hear means the process is still underway, and the “money” disappearing into yawning oblivion will out-pace any effort orchestrated by the Federal Reserve and the US Treasury to replace it with new “money” (or credit). Therefore there is no chance between heaven and hell that the pre-2008 suburban homesteading and shopping fiesta can ever come back. The American polity is tapped out in all sectors, personal, corporate, and public.

Notice the two words largely absent from whatever public discussion exists around these matters — “swindle” and “fraud.” The reason they’re missing is because if they happened to enter the conversation, something would have to be done about them, namely investigations and prosecutions. The president is the person in the best position to set the terms of this public discussion, and by avoiding these two words he’s blowing the chance to begin the process of correcting the tragic course we’re on.

These swindles and frauds range from malfeasance at the highest levels to indecency in the lowliest cubicles — i.e. the collusion of a revolving cast of cabinet-level officials with Wall Street executives to loot the US Treasury, the probable criminal dereliction at the mid-level of agencies like the Federal Reserve’s oversight office and the SEC, to certain and outright street grifting in the traffic of securities known to be worthless at their creation. The current fiction that the public seems to be swallowing (for the moment) is along the lines of the old “mistakes were made” locution, which is an easy way to avoid holding individuals responsible for misdeeds.

*** end quote ***

At least this fellow has the honesty to call it for what it is … fraud!

A fraud on the Sheeple and the future generations.

How do we avoid this fiscal disaster?

Hard choices. Very hard choices.

On a national level, we have to begin to reestablish our moral compass.

Pay as we go. Not this “barbara streisand” that they use in Congress. But real pay as we go.

First thing that has to happen is we have to have honest money. No more FED funny fiat paper. We’re all adults. We know the situation is bad; we just have no idea how bad.

Audit the FED; strip the monopoly of its power. Redefine and dollar as some amount of gold.

(If I had to guess, FDR paid 20$ per ounce and immediately redefined it as $32. That was in the Thirties. We know that from 1970 to 2000, the dollar lost 97% of its purchasing power. Let’s guess the dollar was inflated let’s peg the dollar to gold. Let’s say the Treasure will exchange 1500 dollars for an ounce of gold and an ounce of gold will buy 500 dollars. No one will be lining up at that window to transact. But we will have fixed the number of dollars.)

(An easier idea is to repeal the legal tender laws and see what happens.)

Second, we need to “Save Social Security”. Hire that guy form Cato who did it in Chile and do something similar here. (Yup, some rich old folks may well get screwed. Sorry about that. It was a wlefare program anyway.)

Third, we need to FIX medicare, medicaid, and all the socialized medical programs (e.g., VA).

Forth, we need to prune government. (Bye bye Amtrak, post office, Education Department, and the countless bureaucrats.)

It will be painful, But what choice do we have?

Who REALLY knows what is going on in Iran. (3) Appealing to the UN is asking for trouble. They don’t settle stuff. “Peacekeepers” are trouble. LETTER FROM THE BOSS:

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%.

But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off 60 of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me; since I believe we are family here, and I didn’t know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found 60 ‘Obama’ bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem.

They voted for change; I gave it to them.

Who Wrote Dreams and Why It Matters
By Jack Cashill

*** begin quote ***

While waiting for America’s publishers to find their nerve, I had put my research into the authorship of Barack Obama’s 1995 memoir Dreams From My Father on the back shelf. But then I heard Chris Matthews.

The Hardball host was weighing in on the subject of Sarah Palin’s new book deal. “Sarah Palin – now don’t laugh – is writing a book,” sneered Matthews. “Not just reading a book, writing a book.”

“Actually in the word of the publisher she’s “collaborating” on a book,” Matthews continued. “What an embarrassment! It’s one of these ‘I told you,’ books that jocks do. You know she’s already declared, I mean, why they do it like this? ‘She can’t write, we got a collaborator for her.'”

*** end quote ***

What a joke!

Does anyone think that Kennedy, not Theodore C. Sorensen, wrote “Profiles in Courage”?

I had to read that book in high school. And, the good Brother, I forget his name, asked how many believed Kennedy wrote it. Don’t remember the discussion that ensued but I remember it was vigorous. A CINO slipping in below the radar as the “First Catholic President”. Maybe that’s when the brand began to slip! Parents were horrified from what I heard. After his assassination, all criticism was forbidden as he was placed in the secular equivalent of “sainthood”. But like Saint Augustine, the “saint” had clay feet.

So, Obama claims to have written it, but there is a substantive claim he didn’t.

Obama is a lot like Clinton. Very smooth. Too smooth.

The sheeple have been sold a socialist wolf in sheep’s clothing. And, he’s sheering them now.

Carefully orchestrated indeed

The bankruptcy judge hearing the Chrysler case said Friday he wasn’t going to rule on the asset sale until today or Tuesday, but a call from the White House must have prompted him to move faster because he ruled in the wee hours of this morning.

See, the administration wanted to hold up Chrysler as an example of a “quick and speedy” bankruptcy, but Judge Arthur Gonzalez – deciding he needed more time to rule – put a crimp in those plans and left the White House looking at a GM filing today and Chrysler still in. Oops.

Remarkably, Gonzalez got all his work done just in time and filed his opinion after midnight to save the show.

I’m sure we’ll hear today when questioned that the White House had nothing to do with that timing, just as we’ve heard that it is not making management decisions at GM or Chrysler.

GOVERNACIDE: Government Health Care? Think VA or Medicare!

Thursday, May 21, 2009

I suggest EVERYONE get active. Hillary tried to nationalize Healthcare; Obama is back to try again. I don’t know about you but I’ve seen the VA’s health care and Medicare. Canadians come to Buffalo for MRIs; it’s well documented that by the time a Canadian can get their “free” MRI, cancers have had time to metastasize and kill people. England has a booming “medical tourism” industry where the English go to India and the Far East for cheap medical care that they can’t get at home. Don’t forget that medical care is the classic economic service with an inelastic demand curve. (Demand isn’t very responsive to cost.) So, the only way that the government can control demand is with rationing. If you think that dealing with Insurance Companies is bad, try dealing with the Government. Sorry, the current system has problems, but imho they are caused by government at the State and Federal level. They have the FDA a captive of the drug companies, the AMA restrict who can “practice medicine”, and the Pharmacists have a monopoly on dispensing drug. Plus don’t forget the psuedo drug war. Sorry, but I need quality medical care for spouse. Remember, if Fritz had been in England, then he’d have been too old for dialyses. Rationing, like gas lines, will kill people. And, once “it” is started, like Social Security, Medicare, and the Medicare Drug Benefit, there will be no way to stop it. And, future generations will go broke paying for it. Argh!

How to Stop a Healthcare Hijack
By J. Robert Smith

*** begin quote ***

Stop an arcane parliamentary maneuver – “reconciliation” – and the odds improve at stopping the Democrats march toward socialized medicine. But Republicans can’t do it; not alone, anyway. It’s up to the legions of Tea Partiers and average Americans to win the fight.

Reconciliation is aimed at dramatically restricting debate and banning filibuster on budget-related matters. It allows for a simple up or down vote. Senate Democrats are keeping it as an option if progress lags in recasting healthcare as a government-run enterprise. A good bet is that they’ll invoke it. Why?

Because a thorough public airing and extensive Senate debate will expose the Democrats’ plan for what it is: a demolishing of the doctor-patient relationship in favor of a politician-bureaucrat driven system; and a system all about rationing.

Democrats are quick to say that Republicans used reconciliation when they were the majority. That’s true, but it was used principally to get up or down votes on lowering taxes, not upending a huge portion of the nation’s economy.

Without getting into the crux of the controversy, I believe the author has misstated the upset. It was the “honorary degree” that sent everyone over the top. The Council of Bishops expressly prohibited “honoring”. That’s what sent everything into overdrive. And, his far “left” stance on abortion (i.e., infanticide). Well, Notre Dame did do one thing; it activated all the pro-lifers and firmly hung the “pro-abortion” label on President Obama. With Government Motors, the non-stimulating stimulus pork bil, and the huge 9T$ over 4 years, it would appears that reelection is far from a certainty. And, the House may turn over in 2010. Good work, Notre Dame. Too bad they had to sell their soul to do it.

GUNS: Prices indicate that Obama isn’t to be trusted

VIN SUPRYNOWICZ: Obama ‘bitterly clinging’ to his fake gun numbers

*** begin quote ***

“ATF Special Agent William Newell tells Fox News that between 2007 and 2008, around 11,000 guns used in Mexican crimes appeared to come from the United States and were submitted to the ATF for tracing. Of those, only 6,000 could be successfully traced. Of those, only 5,114, according to testimony in Congress by William Hoover, were found to have come from the United States.

“Obama’s ’90 percent’ number refers, not to the percentage of ‘guns recovered in Mexico,’ as Obama claims, but to the ‘percent of the traced firearms’ according to an ATF spokeswoman.

“Mexican authorities report that in those two years, a total of 29,000 guns were recovered at ‘crime scenes.’ That means 68 percent of the guns recovered by Mexican police did not even appear to come from the United States. That means only 5,114 out of 29,000 guns used in Mexican crimes were found to have come from the United States,” the Libertarians conclude. “That figure would be 17 percent, not the 90 percent repeated by Obama.

During his term in the Senate, Obama earned an “F” rating from Gun Owners of America, as well as from the National Rifle Association. In an April 11, 2008, campaign speech in San Francisco, Obama claimed gun owners are simply “bitter,” racist people who “cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them.”

“Obama is ‘bitterly clinging’ to falsified numbers, hoping he can take away the constitutional rights of ‘people who aren’t like’ him,” The Libertarian Party concludes.

Climb
Conservatives must have the courage to defend their convictions.
By Mark Steyn
Is conservatism over?

*** begin quote ***

It’s a mountain, and it’s getting steeper. Promises of “free” government health care will make more voters susceptible to the blandishments of the nanny state. The Democrats have plans for talk radio and the Internet that will diminish conservative voices. Another retirement on the Supreme Court, and the First and Second Amendments will start getting nibbled away. Obama’s buddies at ACORN, already under investigation in multiple states over fraudulent voter registration, will have a prominent say in the 2010 census.

But, when the going gets tough, you don’t, as General Powell advises, “move toward the center.” You move the center toward you, as Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher did. It’s harder to do it that way, but if it’s a choice between more government and more taxes, or more liberty and more opportunity, I’ll stick with the latter, and so should the Republican party — however difficult it is. Unlike Colin Powell, conservatism does do mountains.

Anyone, who is even thinking of being fooled by Obama / Hillary Healthcare, shoudl consider:

(1) We have a working model — the VA healthcare system. Ask any vet!

(2) Will the politicians be using it? Probably not!

(3) Where is the money coming for this? Remember in every college economics class, medical care is used as an example of an “inelastic” demand curve, infinite demand without regard to cost. If medical care is “free”, demand will be “infinite”. So there will be rationing and waiting. Look at England where old people don’t get dialysis. Look at Canada, the wait for an MRI allows cancer to be fatal. (Reminds of the VA where vets are convinced their VA docs want to kill them to reduce the demand!)

(4) Forget privacy. THe government will know everything,

Name one thing that the government does acceptably?

How stupid are we?

LIBERTY: Rights are inalienable

News Alert from The Wall Street Journal

*** begin quote ***

The Obama administration is weighing plans to detain some terror suspects on U.S. soil — indefinitely and without trial — as part of a plan to retool military commission trials that were conducted for prisoners held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The proposal being floated with members of Congress is another indication of President Barack Obama’s struggles to establish his counter-terrorism policies, balancing security concerns against attempts to alter Bush-administration practices he has harshly criticized.

Another campaign issue / promise up in smoke.

Don’t real;y care about the lying.

BUT!

THe Bush Admininstration had Gitmo to keep the prisoners from getting Fifth Amendment and other rights.t us, next it

(Using my Judge Judy law degree and reading the Constitution, I think rights are inalienable regardless where on the Earth the government is operating. But my opinion matters not.)

The Obama Adminsitration seems to have a new reading of the Fifth and where it applies.

That scares me!

As Pastor Martin Niemîller taught us, next it woon’t apply to us as they herd us to the camps.

Remember my previous blogs. Just take out the first one and the they will soon run out of thugs.

RANT: Obama is killing the America we new

A EURO-PACIFIC/PETER SCHIFF WHITE PAPER
Beware of Obamanomics
by Thomas E. Woods, Jr.

*** begin quote ***

In short, the president’s program aggravates every existing problem in the American economy, and will make genuine recovery all the longer in coming. Whether we measure these policies against history or sound economic theory, the verdict is the same: the president has chosen a path that is guaranteed to fail. We were already on that path before his election. Only if President Obama genuinely changes course, and allows the free economy to restore the prosperity that so much previous intervention served to undermine, would we really have change we can believe in.

*** end quote ***

Yes, those trillions and trillions of dollars of debt are going to make us more like Zimbabwe!
