PEACE: The UN is unable to prevent the very wars, hate, injustice, and instability it was created to alleviated to prevent

The UN Must Go!
By Moshe Phillips

*** begin quote ***

The world’s democracies, which provide the lion’s share of the UN’s funding — especially the United States — find themselves routinely outvoted by blocs of authoritarian regimes that use their membership not to promote peace or justice, but to shield each other from accountability. The result is an institution that rewards the corrupt, legitimizes the violent, and sidelines the nations that actually uphold the values the UN was meant to defend. And it is American taxpayers who foot the largest share of the bill for this failure. Each year, billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars flow into UN programs and peacekeeping missions that produce little peace and even less accountability.

*** and ***

It is time to admit what has long been obvious: the United Nations is no longer the solution. It is part of the problem. And the UN, like the League before it, belongs in the dustbin of history.

*** end quote ***

And the US can’t afford the luxury of it any more.  As with most Gooferment creations, it too is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy.

Atrocities by UN “peacekeepers”, the WHO that has been captured by liberals and Big Pharma, Ukrainian corruption with US bio labs, the inability to stop or even condemn genocides, the rampant expansion of NATO to threaten Russia, and on and on and on.

“When in a hole, stop digging!” — old Wall Street maxim

It might be a small irritant, but the behavior in NYC of UN “diplomats” denotes an attitude of entitlement as opposed to serious people as guest in another nation.

While clearly “might makes right” with respect to who is seated in the UN, like China versus Taiwan, we don’t have to provide “free parking” for tyrants, dictators, and criminals just because they seize power.

It’s time for the USA to call a halt to the “kabuki theater” that the UN has become and stop paying for its abuses.

The world would be better off if there was no “United Nations” to interfere with peace.

INSPIRATIONAL: Saving the past for the future

Ancient Library in Tibet Creating Digital Archive of Its 84,000 Scriptures
By Regina Sienra on June 15, 2024

*** begin quote ***

Tibet’s Sakya Monastery is home to many wonders. Founded in 1073, its collection includes some of the oldest Tibetan artwork, as well as 84,000 ancient manuscripts and books. Given its remote location, the contents of this library may seem out of reach for international scholars. Luckily, in an attempt to preserve these ancient documents, the Sakya Monastery Library began digitizing its assets in 2011 and is well underway in its mission.

*** end quote ***

No one has any idea what “treasure” or “trash” can be found in this library.  But preserving it ensures that The Future might learn from The Past.  Given the advances in AI, who knows what dikw (i.e., data, information, knowledge, wisdom) is in this archive of human thought.  It might take another 1,000 years to unlock it but “books” are the essence of the human experience.  Maybe there is a cure for cancer, athlete’s foot, or just an inspiring poem.  It’s important that it will be no longer “lost”.

INSPIRATIONAL: Man Finally Meets Family That Hid Him During Nazi Holocaust

Man Finally Meets Family That Hid Him During Nazi Holocaust 80 Years Ago–And Visits the House
By Andy Corbley – Feb 7, 202

*** begin quote ***

An elderly Belgian man was able to meet the descendants of a neighbor who saved him from the Holocaust after his perseverant son and a helpful geneticist managed to track down his grandchildren.

The meeting was organized in the same house where a 5-year-old David Rossler was hidden along with his mother. Now 85, Rossler had a chance to thank the grandchildren for what their grandfather, Georges Bourlet, had done.

Mr. Bourlet lived in Auderghem, Brussels with his four adolescent children, Paul, Jacques, Anne-Marie, and Christiane. Together they gave shelter to Rossler and his mother towards the end of the war in 1944 after Rossler’s uncle and grandfather had already been seized and sent to Auschwitz.

*** and ***

“In Jewish tradition, there is a saying that ‘he who saves one life saves all of humanity’ – Georges Bourlet saved humanity nine times over We are submitting our testimony to Yad Vashem in hopes that he will be recognized for his heroism and granted the title of ‘Righteous Among the Nations,’” said Lionel, referencing the Israeli civilian honor for those who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust.

*** end quote ***

I’m not sure I’d have the courage to hide Jews from the Nazis.  Not only did Georges Bourlet risk his own life but also that of his family to do a brave thing.  He knew the risks and did it.  That’s “stones”.

We don’t know how many took the same gamble and were killed for it.

As I said, I’m not sure I could handle a big challenge like that.  May all my temptations be small enough for my limited abilities.

INTERESTING: And segregation was designed in?

How the Manhattan Project’s Nuclear Suburb Stayed Secret
Oak Ridge, Tennessee, once home to 75,000, went up fast and under the radar. But it was built to last, too.
BY JESSICA LEIGH HESTER MAY 03, 2018

*** begin quote ***

At least for some. While white employees lived in relatively cushy digs, their black counterparts were more likely to be placed in structures known as “hutments,” little more than plywood frames without indoor plumbing. “Segregation was actually designed in from the start,” Moeller says.

*** end quote ***

How evil are the politicians and bureaucrats that did this?

I find that it was (a) designed in from the start; and (b) that people accepted it as fait accompli.

Of course, it wouldn’t happen today, but what evil was in these men’s hearts from the get go.

Sigh. So sad.

Is everything that Gooferment does inherently “evil” and “flawed”?

Seems so.

TINFOILHAT: Did the Alcatraz escapees make it?

Relatives have ‘proof’ Alcatraz escapees are still alive
By Tim Donnelly
October 10, 2015 | 9:45am

*** begin quote ***

Alcatraz officials have long stated that the men drowned, maintaining the prison’s bragging rights of no escapees. But now, more than 50 years later, new leads are being presented by the Anglin family, who are cooperating with authorities for the first time.

They claim that not only did the brothers survive the escape, they were alive and well up through at least the mid-1970s — and may still be alive today.

The evidence is offered up by the Anglins’ nephews David, 48, and Ken Widner, 54, who are featured in “Alcatraz: Search for the Truth,” a History Channel special airing Monday. The evidence has pumped life into the cold case, and has investigators lining up new interviews and planning to search South America for signs of America’s most notorious escapees.

*** end quote ***

And, why would we believe the “Alcatraz officials”?

Like with murder cases, it’s very hard to convict without a body.

And, from time to time, we hear of folks who have disappeared completely.

Personally, without proof, all we have is assertions and presumptions.

PRODUCTIVITY: Keep records

Thursday, March 28, 2013

“Everything is an idea for something, something that touches the imagination, a fact that seems relevant or maybe just a statement I find interesting — either because it resonates or because I disagree. All of it is fodder for continued work or thinking on the topics. It’s also important to me to record the ideas that my instincts tell me are bad.”

MONEY: What is the value of a fiat currency?

Are Fiat Currencies Headed for a Collapse?
Published: Friday, 27 Jul 2012 | 5:27 AM ET
By: Lisa Oake
Anchor, CNBC Asia-Pacific

*** begin quote ***

Shockingly, CNBC even points out in the article that “Every single fiat currency in history has collapsed, this time will be no different.”

*** and ***

A fiat currency derives its worth from the issuing government – it is not fixed in value to any objective standard. That means central banks can print as much money as they want. If an economy is struggling, injecting more notes into the system juices activity but lowers the value of the currency in question.

Mark Mobius, Executive Chairman of Templeton Emerging Markets Group, says investors will soon start to demand fiat currencies be backed by gold or other hard assets.

“It’s already happening, you’re beginning to see that trend with central banks stocking up on gold. The estimate is that at least half of the buying is central bank buying. They are looking to the day when they can say okay, our currency is backed by gold and therefore we’re a strong country,” Mobius told CNBC Asia.

*** end quote ***

Argh!

All one has to do is study a little history and you have to be afraid.

Weimar Republic, Zimbabwe, Iraq — come immediately to mind.

We’ve been the guinea pigs in a hundred year experiment in a fiat currency. Now the free ride is coming to an end.

The fun question is how does it unwind?

With a thud!

Does the Carter-style inflation return? Or does it just start to accellerate, continue, and never stops until the value is zero?

When the wild ride starts, it’s too late to covert to hard assets.

Argh!

GOVERNACIDE;

The United States Government’s Willful Ignorance Is Costing Soldiers’ Lives
Posted by John Bernard, 1st Sgt. USMC (ret.)

*** begin quote ***

To that end, it has been my contention that this administration, the past administration and the entire upper end structure of the military machine has failed miserably. Not only have they chosen the wrong strategy to achieve a definable victory for their nation, they chose one that has been disproportionately brutal for our forces while providing cover for the enemy and the population that has proven over and over again to be untrustworthy.

History has defined and will continue to define only a miniscule number of opportunities for a theater-wide application of the precepts of Counterinsurgency Doctrine to have been efficacious. Even a casual glance at the human terrain in either Iraq or Afghanistan, with Syria and Iran to possibly follow, should have given the critical thinker everything they needed to adequately keep COIN under lock and key in the vault of terrible ideas.

*** and ***

First of all, if someone can point me toward the ongoing, public record of support for America in either of these operations or the public record of Muslim denunciation of the actions of the “terrorist” or “radicalized” Muslim or Jihad as a war doctrine, Taqiyya as a deceptive practice with the intent of keeping the enemy off balance, please show me?

The clear evidence only suggests groups as defined by those who willingly strap on bombs and those who do not. Unfortunately, we know that from within the second group comes the financial and spiritual support for the first.

Suggesting you can parse these two and do harm to one while garnering support for said harm from the “moderates” simply misses the truth about religion – all religion!

*** and ***

We watch the wanton destruction of human life by the forces of Islam and the associated silence from the “moderates” every day. Is it the contention of those who submit to the “two Islams” vision that we should continue to assume the best of a people whose religion is belligerent to non-believers?

*** end quote ***

The First Sargent correctly imho distills the “problem” into the concept: “It not what we think, it’s what it is that counts.”

Their “moderates” support their “extremists”.

Any failure to recognize this fact in policy, strategy, or tactics dooms us to failure. And, failure, in this case, translates into dead human beings. Soldiers and civilians on both sides are lost due to the stupidity of our leadership. Or lack there of.

We need to get the girls and boys out of the fire zone until we figure it out.

“We, The Sheeple” learned nothing from Viet Nam.
