Some words to the wise. Shooting Advice from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate this. If not, you should get one and learn how to use it:

  • Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians.
  • It’s always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
  • Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.
  • Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arms length.
  • Never say “I’ve got a gun.” If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off. (I prefer the sound of a round being chambered when you load a shotgun)
  • The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes, the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.
  • The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win – cheat if necessary.
  • Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he’ll have to beat you to death with it, cause it’ll be empty.
  • If you’re in a gun fight:
    1. If you’re not shooting, you should be loading.
    2. If you’re not loading, you should be moving,
    3. If you’re not moving’, you’re dead.
In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!
  • If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about? (I call it being prepared)
  • You can say ‘stop’ or ‘alto’ or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone’s head is pretty much a universal language. AMEN!
  • You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.

If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, please forward.

I remember reading that freezing occurs when the brain can’t quickly determine the best action.

Like in a crisis: 10% panic, 80% freeze or ignore it, and 10% act.

In USAF basic training, immediate obedience to orders was “DRILLED” into us.  I remember one DI yelling at another boot: “Just don’t stand there, DO <synonym for the act of procreation in real time> SOMETHING NOW!”  It made a huge impression on me. Laugh!  Scary lessons last forever?

During the FRIST WTC bombing, when the alarms went off, I was away from my office.  My second-in-command called me and said: “The alarms are going off and we have been told to ignore it.”  My first words to her were: “You evacuate our people NOW.  Ignore everything and leave PDQ.”  She responded:  “ said we can’t and won’t get paid.”  I said: “Evacuate now and I’ll take the heat.”  To which I got: “Yes SIR” in a very snotty tone, Laugh!  Later when my team was home safely, and were checking on a conference call that we always had set up, she reported that as they were leaving so was Honcho So and So. In our “after action” meeting in our “lessons learned”, it was entered on the board by her, “If an alarm sounds, evacuate first and then figure out all the other stuff.”  N.B. GUNS: When governments disarm the people, freedom does not survive

Lockstep: Digital ID, Canada’s Tyranny Deadline, Christian Persecution Rises | Daily Pulse Ep 117
ZeeeMedia

*** begin quote ***

STORY #2 – Canada has given citizens one year to surrender their firearms, calling it a “voluntary” buyback. But the reality is clear—by October 2026, anyone who refuses will face criminal charges.

Officials claim no one is being forced, yet once the deadline passes, simply keeping your own property will make you a criminal. That isn’t voluntary—it’s mandatory thinly disguised as choice.

History leaves no room for doubt. The British disarmed the colonies before the Revolution. The Ottomans before the Armenian genocide. The Soviets and Cambodians before mass killings. Even Australia, long praised as a model, later sent soldiers into the streets during COVID—dragging citizens into quarantine camps against their will.

The warning is unmistakable: when governments disarm the people, freedom does not survive. The question now is whether Canadians will defend their rights—or watch history repeat itself on their own soil.

*** end quote ***

Adolph Hitler famously said, “To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens.”

“…if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”
— Churchill, The Second World War, vol. 1, The Gathering Storm (London: Cassell, 1948, 272, on the British guarantee to Poland in Spring 1939.)

“Victim Disarmament” is the first step to the trains and death camps.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . .” — Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Look at England and look at Australia.

How many genocides do we have to have in recorded history before we learn the lesson?

Let’s itemize some.  Just off the top of my head:

  • The genocide of the American Indians glorified in Hollywood films
  • The people of Melos were slaughtered after refusing to surrender to the Athenians during the Peloponnesian War (learned that in High School)
  • The massacre of Cathari during the Albigensian Crusade in the 13th century (also High School)
  • 1915 Armenian massacre by the Turkish-led Ottoman Empire (learned from Armenian neighbors)
  • Nearly complete extermination of European Jews, Roma Gypsies, and other groups by Nazi Germany during World War II (from neighbors who survived)
  • the killing of some three million Cambodians by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s
  • the killing of Tutsi by Hutu in Rwanda in the 1990s.
  • The Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein, for example, portrayed its use of chemical warfare against the Kurds in the 1980s
  • The slaughter in former Yugoslavia
  • Killings in the Darfur region of western Sudan.
  • Myanmar persecution of its Rohingya Muslim minority.
  • The Yazidi genocide was perpetrated by the Islamic State
  • Persecution of Uyghurs in China
  • Stalin’s starvation of the Ukrainians

Right down to present day … …

… … both Israel and Hamas fighting to control of the Gaza Strip and killing innocent women and children.

Sorry, but giving up your guns to any gang is a recipe for disaster.  Even if that gang is the Gooferment!

GUNS: A burglar shot and killed … on parole

Burglar shot and killed by mother protecting her baby during home invasion is identified – and his past is terrifying

A burglar shot and killed by a mother as she hid her baby in a closet during a home invasion was a serial criminal who’d only recently been freed from jail.

Shelby Hurd, 36, died last Tuesday after being blasted in the head with a bullet while entering the unidentified mother’s home in Joliet, Illinois.

Patch reported that Hurd was only freed on parole in February this year over a slew of previous burglary convictions.

*** end quote ***

Sadly some people never change or learn.  Guess he can be nominated for a Darwin Award.  Does not say if he was a “father”.  It does say a lot about the Illinois prison and parole system.  As a felon with multiple convictions, parole should NOT be considered.

As far as the lack of a “stand your ground” law in Illinois, I’m not surprised given that it is a “blue state”.  The criminal must be afraid of the citizen.  That can only happen when people have the means of “self defense”.

“This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty. … The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.” ~ St. George Tucker 1803

Remember if having guns in civil society was a problem, given the number of guns and gun owners in the USA, we’d known it.

Domestic Violence Survivors Speak Out Against Gun Control

Shirley Watral, the state director of the Florida Women For Gun Rights Organization, is a domestic violence survivor and professional firearms instructor. In the hearing, she shared how her views on gun ownership changed after how the man she was in love with kidnapped her and tortured her for 15 hours (via Judiciary.House.gov):

Attempts I made to escape were met with beatings. I was no match for his size and strength. I was forced to stay seated or kneeling on the floor of the master bedroom. As the hours went by, I found no way out. I thought my salvation came when he brought out a gun and set it on the bed. Hours prior to this, no one heard my screams or came to my rescue. I saw the gun as my way to freedom. I could either use it to defend myself or get a shot off that the neighbors would hear.

*** begin quote ***

Why can’t we create an agency to specifically collect guns from gun owners in America? It will consist of 1000 members and will make an announcement for every house. It will ask the owners to come out with their hands up if there’s any hesitation.

*** end quote ***

Just out of curiosity, where do the families of these 1000 Gun Confiscation agents live? Do you think they will survive. Read that novel “Unintended Consequences” by John Ross (if you can find and afford a copy). A cadre can start taking out family members and see how long any agency lasts.

I think the reason that the powers that be want this book scarce is that it gives a “how to manual” for how to defeat the US big Gooferment. Killing by random unconnected patriots in a decentralized fashion would make Viet Nam or Afghanistan look like a cake walk. Never mind all the gun owners; how about all the other patriots. Talk about real ugly real fast. Once people have nothing to live for, it can get real dangerous for the ruling class real fast.

GUNS: The Left likes “school shootings” to advance their gun control agenda

The Most Terrifying Reality about School Shootings
By Charles Turot

*** begin quote ***

Here is the terrifying truth: the radical left wants mass murders in schools. They are useful for gaining power. I can no longer blame friends who imagine that the killers are some sort of Manchurian candidates, released to further a narrative and serve the purposes of the left. I don’t believe that, but the idea follows logically from the same conclusion I’ve drawn about school shootings: the left likes them. The left is powerful. There will be more. We could prevent them. We won’t.

*** end quote ***

One has to believe based on the evidence — like California STOPPING reporting violent threats — that the author is onto something.

Of course, we have to harden the “soft targets”, end “gun free zones” aka target rich environments, and allow people to defend themselves.

Argh!

So simple,

*** begin quote ***

Finally, always keep in mind that active shooter situations should not be the main focus in the gun debate, whether for gun control or gun decontrol: They on average account for less than 1% of the U.S. homicide rate and are unusually hard to stop through gun control laws (since the killer is bent on committing a publicly visible murder and is thus unlikely to be much deterred by gun control law, or by the prospect of encountering an armed bystander). But people talk about them a lot, so I thought I’d offer a perspective on them for those who are interested.

*** end quote ***

I read this very calm and seemed to be neutral After Action review of the particular Charleston West Virginia incident.

The only quibble I have is, and I agree, with to paraphrase “criminals are undeterred by laws and probably an armed bystander”.  What about “gun free zones” being an attractive nuisnece.  We know from Columbine that the criminal in that case traveled further to a movie house that was “gun free”.  This assuring that even the slight risk of a “good guy (or gal) with gun” might interfere.

So perhaps eliminating all “gun free zones” and allowing unlimited concealed carry by non-felons, we might make their rage a little more “inconvenient”.

And, why is the first thing a totalitarian regime do is to disarm “We, The Sheeple”?

Sorry, “from my cold, dead hands” just means, that they may kill me, but I’m not going to make it easy for them.

It’s sad that a human being was killed. It’s sad that another human being has to carry that burden for the rest of his life. It’s sad that there was an injury presumed from “friendly fire”.

It is good that criminals are called to account.

I’d rather they all be afraid of the honest citizen than the other way around.

Politicians and bureaucrats want to disarm the people for their own nefarious purposes.

(I’ve given up the idea that they are honestly trying to make the country safer. Honest but mistaken. In the light of their continued insistence in complete disarmament to extent they talk about door to door search and siezure as if was even possible. They can’t even disarm criminals. Or keep drugs out of their prisons. So what is their motivation if it’s not to put people into camps?)

Seems like the Virginia “Democratic” legislature has just “poked the proverbial tiger with a stick”. “I fear all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.” — apocryphal quote attributed to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto played by Soh Yamamura in the movie ‘Tora Tora Tora’

It just can’t happen without a lot of bloodshed.

New Zealand Gang Refuses To Give Up Their Guns

Thursday, April 4, 2019

We’ve often countered arguments in favor of gun bans by pointing out that criminals aren’t going to give up their guns. This is often laughed at by anti-gunners, either that or they argue it’s irrelevant for some ridiculous reason. Now, with New Zealand on the cusp of banning certain firearms, the nation’s most notorious gang has vowed not to give up their guns.

Source: New Zealand Gang Refuses To Give Up Their Guns

# – # – # – # – #

(1) Criminals don’t disarm because of any law, diktat, or regulation.

(2) One of the sparks of the American revolution was the attempt by the British Army to seize munitions at Lexington and Concord.  Look how that worked out!

(3) Isn’t self-defense a basic human right?

(4) The Gooferment has abrogated, by its own court decisions (i.e., no specific duty to protect anyone), its end of the supposed “social contract” (i.e., the citizen pledges allegiance and the government pledges protection).

“Inasmuch as the Constitution was never signed, nor agreed to, by anybody, as a contract, and therefore never bound anybody, and is now binding upon nobody; and is, moreover, such an one as no people can ever hereafter be expected to consent to, except as they may be forced to do so at the point of the bayonet, it is perhaps of no importance what its true legal meaning, as a contract, is. Nevertheless, the writer thinks it proper to say that, in his opinion, the Constitution is no such instrument as it has generally been assumed to be; but that by false interpretations, and naked usurpations, the government has been made in practice a very widely, and almost wholly, different thing from what the Constitution itself purports to authorize. He has heretofore written much, and could write much more, to prove that such is the truth. But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.” Lysander Spooner (1808-1887), No Treason (1870) http://praxeology.net/LS-NT-6.htm#no.6

(5) One theory of “human rights” is that you are only entitled to those rights that you are willing to fight, and die, for. Those, that you earn, you get to keep.  All rights are God given!

“From my cold dead hand” is more than a bumper sticker. It’s a challenge to any would be genocidal tyrant.

“You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.” — apocryphal unsourced quote attributed to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto

So too, you can disarm the American people without their own cooperation.

GUNS: HRC is coming for the guns. Molon labe!

Hillary Clinton: “Reasonable” to Require Guns to be Unusable at Home
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2016

*** begin quote **

The candidate who claimed politicians “need both a public and a private position” on policy issues demonstrated that tendency Wednesday night in the final presidential debate in a desperate bid for damage control on a statement she made in a private meeting with wealthy donors.

That earlier statement was simple, uncomplicated, and utterly damning to anyone who believes in the Second Amendment. Hillary Clinton told the very people who she depends on to fund her political ambitions: “the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment. And I am going to make that case every chance I get.”

As a Yale-educated attorney, Clinton knew exactly what she was saying when she made that remark. But it doesn’t take a lawyer to understand the contempt it demonstrates for the right to keep and bear arms.

*** and ***

First, the District’s ban didn’t just require safe storage to prevent access by toddlers. It made possessing a loaded, usable firearm in the home – including for self-defense – a crime. The crime did not require proof of access by children or even proof that children were present in the home. Clinton’s answer also seemed suspiciously coincidental with a recent, dubious media blitz on firearm accidents among children.

The Second Amendment is the true palladium of liberty.

Document 7

St. George Tucker, Blackstone’s Commentaries 1:App. 300
1803

This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty. . . . The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.

GUNS: Gooferment Skrules are idiotic too

2016-Aug-07

FROM FACEBOOK

*** begin quote ***

Greg Morin
12 hrs

So my 9th grade son is taking AP government and his coy teacher says she won’t reveal her political leanings…but then gives it away with her idiotic opinion of the 2nd amendment is being used wrong because it means only people in a militia can have guns. Sigh.

So in providing my son with the basis for an argument to proffer to her as to why that is wrong it suddenly dawned on me how truly absurd that position is. A militia by definition must be armed. An unarmed militia is like an orchestra with no instruments. Why would you create an amendment to protect a right that is implied in the nature of the thing. It would be like guaranteeing all doctors the right to keep and bear scalpels, or fireman the right to keep and bear hoses.

*** end quote ***

We have to de-federalize the military and get back to state militias and troops under the control of their governors and funded by the individual States.

Military Industrial Complex, that Ike warned us about, leads to a military run amok.

Argh!

GUNS: END GUN FREE ZONES NOW!

STRICT GUN CONTROL, BANS IMPOTENT AS TERRORISTS OPEN FIRE IN PARIS

*** begin quote ***

Yet in the end, these gun controls appear as impotent against determined attackers as do gun-free zones in the United States. These laws create an uneven playing field, where the terrorist and criminal are armed, but law abiding citizens–even hundreds of them at a time–are soft targets for lawless men with bad intentions.

*** end quote ***

It certainly seems that one lesson from Paris is that “gun bans” don’t work.

Hopefully some sanity on this topic will seep into “We, The Sheeple”.

“Gun Free Zones”, like “drug free zones”, just are pathetically stupid guarantees of “target rich environments”.

What can we do to convince the politicians and bureaucrats — and their accomplices in the media — to put their collective heads out of their <synonym for a bunch of donkeys> and end these “killing zones”.

You can’t unstrike the gong, can’t roll back the clock, and can’t change criminal behavior by wishing it away.

END GUN FREE ZONES NOW!

GUNS: Support Constitutional Carry by Gun Owners of America on Independence Day

Saturday, July 4, 2015

2015-Jul-04

*** begin quote ***

Happy Independence Day!

“GOA [has] proven itself as a uniquely effective ‘no-compromise’ national leader in the gun rights advocacy community.” — David Codrea, formerly of The Examiner

Not a GOA member yet? You can join Gun Owners of America today for a mere $20!

Gun owners should take heart because freedom is advancing!

It has been a good year for freedom.

More state legislatures are passing GOA-backed laws, enabling citizens to carry firearms concealed WITHOUT permits — laws that are known as Constitutional Carry.

More states are enacting GOA-backed laws to veto federal restrictions within their borders. The Brady Campaign even lost a case against Kansas last month, when a judge threw out a lawsuit challenging the state’s pro-gun law (from 2013) imposing felony penalties on anyone enforcing gun control. to get more information on these polls.

Finally, more and more people are converting to the pro-gun position. Polls show that the number of people who favor gun rights — and oppose gun control — is dramatically increasing.

Sure, our rights don’t depend on what the majority thinks. But it’s nice when you have the bulk of the American people on your side! Click here to get more information on these polls.

Americans are increasingly pro-gun and are mobilizing

Your involvement with Gun Owners of America is helping make a difference. GOA is educating the public and is mobilizing the grassroots to put the heat on their elected legislators.

Just yesterday, our Facebook page hit one million “likes.” Our email activist list continues to grow dramatically.

Our numbers are increasing, and that means YOUR VOICE is getting louder and louder inside the halls of Congress.

Gun Owners of America wants to thank you for your activism, because we couldn’t do what we do without your support.

No wonder that National Public Radio was able to say, “Gun Owners of America showed with one email alert that it could help flood the phone lines on Capitol Hill days before the Senate vote.” (December 26, 2013)

GOA: Saturating the media

In addition to “flooding” the Congress with grassroots activism, Gun Owners of America is helping to shape the gun rights debate around the nation.

In the two weeks following the tragic shooting in South Carolina, GOA representatives appeared in almost 1,000 different media outlets to defend 2nd Amendment rights. At some points, we were literally communicating with the American people around the clock.

Some of the more notable appearances can be listened to or viewed here:

(1) GOA Director of Communications Erich Pratt goes “mano a mano” with a British TV anchor over the subject of self-defense and gun rights.

(2) Inside the country, GOA representatives appear on CNN and an ABC NewsTalk stations to reject calls for gun control and to demonstrate how law-abiding citizens can (and have) stopped mass shootings.

(3) On both radio and in print, GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt discusses the Pope’s response to the Charleston shooting when he declared that gun makers (and by inference, gun owners) can’t be Christians.

There are a lot more media appearances that we have posted, and you can catch up with these on the GOA website, YouTube and Facebook pages.

GOA: Big wins for gun owners at the Supreme Court

Finally, Gun Owners of America is defending our gun rights in the courts. And this includes lawsuits challenging California’s waiting period and restrictive concealed carry requirements.

Not only that, while the Supreme Court’s major decision from last Friday has dominated the news, there have been several cases before the high Court that have advanced gun owners’ rights.

Gun Owners of America has been involved in all of these cases, and we are happy to report that we have enjoyed a stream of victories and are steadily reclaiming lost ground in the courts. Click here to get more information on these GOA victories at the Supreme Court.

Again, none of this is possible without you.

We know that the media is frequently dominated by “bad news.” But as you commemorate Independence Day this weekend, realize that there are a lot of good things happening that we can celebrate, as well.

I’m a member.

And remember, the real purpose of the Second Amendment is to keep the Gooferment in check.

Don’t think a few guns can make a difference?

* Think back to the Warsaw Ghetto where a handful of antiques held the SS a bay for more than a month.

* Review the Russian and American experiences in Afghanistan against “irregulars”.

* Ask yourself why the first thing Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and PolPot did was to disarm the people.

Argh!

Independence Day in a country of secret laws, diktats, and courts.

Who’s kidding who?

Secession is required to cut the Leviathan down to size.

GUNS: Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee “kills” a woman with its “gun laws”

NJ WOMAN STABBED TO DEATH WAITING FOR STATE PERMISSION TO OWN GUN
by AWR HAWKINS
4 Jun 2015212

*** begin quote ***

On April 21, Carol Bowne from Berlin Township, NJ, applied for a license to own a handgun, which she wanted to protect herself from a former boyfriend against whom she had a restraining order.

On June 3—while still waiting for the state to give her permission to own a gun—Bowne’s former boyfriend, Michael Eitel, allegedly stabbed her to death in her own driveway.

According to the Courier-Post, after getting the restraining order, Bowne “installed security cameras and an alarm system to her home and began the months-long process of obtaining a handgun.” Bowne’s co-workers said, “She got a restraining order about a month ago, and right after that her car windows were broken.”

*** and ***

This tragedy is one more example of the foolishness of putting a licensing requirement on the Second Amendment. Like all gun control, it empowers those with criminal intentions while making the vulnerable more vulnerable.

*** end quote ***

Back in 2006, I wrote about the uselessness of restraining orders.

I won’t repeat myself; you can read it if you want:

https://reinkefaceslife.com/2006/05/05/rant-restraining-orders-work-well-maybe-not-in-this-case-or-not-at-all/

If the politicians and bureaucrats would pull their heads out of their <synonym for donkeys>, obeyed the Constitution, this woman might be alive today.

Argh!

NEWJERSEY: NJ parents abdicate to the police

Fearful NJ Parents Freak Out, Trigger Lockdown Over School Play Prop
Posted by Bob Owens on February 12, 2015 at 2:11 pm

*** begin quote ***

A prop gun sparked a brief lockdown at Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, New Jersey, police say.

A student came to school on Knickerbocker Road this morning carrying a prop rifle for the school’s production of Hello Dolly, police said.

Some parents saw her and thought the gun was real, and they alerted authorities.

Police identified the girl within 10 minutes of responding to the scene.

*** end quote ***

It took ten minutes to id her?

Seriously!

In any event, how many would have been dead in those minutes (i.e., time to respond and time to find).

<<Remember the bumpersticker: “When seconds count, the police are minutes away.>>

And, where were the brainiac parents?

After calling the police, if my child was in that school, then I’d have been over there to “speak” with “gun toter”.

Assuming it was pointed at anyone, it would have been a short conversation.

Assuming it was, I have done my best imitation of Richard Marvin Butkus. (Arguably the meanest middle linebacker to play “American” football.)

Instead, the parents were content to go on their way and leave it to the police to clean up the mess?

Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee is sadly going in the wrong direction.

GUNS: The bias against guns

SECOND AMENDMENT
The bias against guns: What the media isn’t telling you
By Dr. John R. Lott Jr.Published January 09, 2015FoxNews.com

*** begin quote ***

Weren’t these stories equally newsworthy? To save a stranger, a permit holder stood up to four attackers. Without the pastor’s concealed handgun permit, there could have been a mass shooting in a crowded church. That would surely have gotten massive national news coverage, but the pastor stopping the attack wasn’t considered a story.

The lopsided coverage gives Americans a skewed view of guns.

*** and ***

I can’t find another similar case of a child accidentally firing a permit holder’s concealed handgun. For decades, there have been millions of permit holders. Today, there are 12 million. It will probably be a very long time before there’s another case like this.

*** and ***

Unfortunately, despite the family’s claim to the contrary, the extremely rare tragedy with Veronica Rutledge likely arose because she stored her gun improperly.  If she had a semi-automatic pistol, as some reports indicate, it would have been impossible for a two-year-old to have the strength to pull the slide back on the gun to chamber the first round. If she had a revolver or most pistols, it seems exceedingly unlikely that child would have switched off the safety.  Thus, she had either already chambered the first round in the gun herself and/or switched off the safety,  thus negating the gun’s safety features.

*** end quote ***

Argh!

When I read the report, I knew that it would “lead the bleed”.

And, equally as well, I KNEW it was a “User error”.

Guns just don’t “go off”!

Argh!
