ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith recently promoted the idea of “equality of opportunity” over the more egalitarian “Equality of Outcome” that left-leaning theorists extoll.
Smith made his somewhat surprising position on the subject known during an interview on the PBD Podcast hosted by Patrick Bet-David, in which he said that “people who produce more ultimately end up more successful than those who don’t.”
“One of the things that I have a problem with when I look at things that are transpiring in this country, you can’t in the same breath talk about capitalism, talk about how it’s equal opportunity that we want, but everybody doesn’t deserve the same, it’s about your level of production,” he said.
“Some people are high-end earners, some people are high-level producers and stuff. And you know, they’re getting treated, they might earn more than somebody that just don’t have that skill set. That’s the world we’re living in,” he added.

I was pleased that someone repeats Doctor King’s wish about “content of character” rather than color.
The NBA is a classic example of the best rise to the top. Is the system perfect? No. But it does demonstrate what is possible when we have “equal opportunity”.
Now if we could just have equality in the law, then we ca get back to doing productive work.

I learned this lesson when all my books on cassette were made obsolete and I was urged to rebut the same content on CDs. I griped to anyone who listen and fell on the deaf ears of all the politicians and bureaucrats. I refused to buy it all again.
Then the car makers dropped the cassette players. And, I was really screwed. So I used drive with a portable cassette player in my truck and my car. Finally the tapes began to wear out and I just gave up.
I still hate the Gooferment politicians and bureaucrats for “copyright” law that makes me “license” content that I “buy”.
Sorry, but I’m not buying into the whole scam.
Like “lifetime guarantees”, the value of a dollar, and “jumbo shrimp”, I can recognize a scam from a long way off and here comes the next one. Before long, every streaming “service” will force you to pay for everything al la carte IN ADDITION TO a low monthly “membership fee”.

Half of Buick Dealers Take Buyouts to Avoid Having to Sell GM’s Electric Cars

Almost half of Buick dealers across the United States have opted to take buyouts from General Motors (GM) to avoid having to sell Electric Vehicles (EVs) at a time when consumer reports show Americans are increasingly turned off by the cars.
According to GM, almost 1,000 of its nearly 2,000 Buick dealerships across the U.S. chose to take buyouts from the parent company rather than investing potentially millions into retooling and prepping dealers to service and sell EVs.
The buyouts mean that GM will now have just about 1,000 Buick dealerships across the nation as the automaker moves forward with adhering to President Joe Biden’s green energy agenda.

Ten Years Later: Over 53K Illegal Aliens Given DACA Despite Arrest Records Including for Murder, Rape, Kidnapping

Ten years ago, in 2012, former President Barack Obama created the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program via executive order that has allowed nearly 800,000 illegal aliens to evade arrest and deportation.
Standards for the Obama program were set so low that tens of thousands of illegal aliens with prior arrest records for crimes like murder, rape, and kidnapping were able to secure DACA status.
In 2018, then-President Trump’s administration released comprehensive data on DACA, previously hidden by the Obama administration, that revealed the extent to which the program had successfully helped shield criminal illegal aliens from arrest and deportation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
From 2012 to 2018, about 53,792 illegal aliens were awarded DACA despite having prior arrest records. Meanwhile, nearly 8,000 illegal aliens awarded DACA were later arrested for crimes, the data shows.fe

At the every least DACA should not cover felons. And, probably not even those who make a “nuisance” of themselves.
I don’t think anyone opposes immigration of hard working people seeking a better life; everyone else should be shipped “home”.
