The U.S. system was fundamentally distorted by the 17th Amendment, which changed the Senate from being a body to represent whole states of the union to one that mostly reflects the politics of big cities. This is all due to a small change: from a position elected by the state legislature (which represents the whole state) to making it an office voted in by the majority of people. With a word change, the bicameral Congress established by the Founders was at an end.

Hard to imagine what the Dead Old White Guys would tell us or call us. “Fools” would be the most polite word; what does one call some one who messes with a system, without understand the implication.
I, for one, would favor the repeal all the amendments after the first ten!
At the very least, we should have a national discussion of how we think the USA should govern itself. I’d favor dissolution back to 50 individual States and proceed rom there.
