POLITICAL: Another “state” wants to get on the dole?

A New Push to Become the 51st State in an Ailing Puerto Rico
By RICHARD FAUSSET
MAY 16, 2017

*** begin quote ***

SAN JUAN, P.R. — It is a proudly Spanish-speaking territory at a time when the White House has taken down the Spanish version of its website. It is as materially poor as it is culturally rich. And Puerto Rico has entered a new and exotic version of bankruptcy, facing a staggering $123 billion in debt and pension obligations.

In short, it is difficult to imagine a worse time for governing-party officials in this struggling Caribbean commonwealth to persuade Washington it is ready to become the 51st American state.

*** end quote ***

It’s funny when other groups are seeking the exit, this “state” wants to join.

Could it be for the perceived largess?

In that case, why would “We, The Sheeple” want them in the “club”.

And, if they had any “national aspirations”, then why would they take them into “the Le Brea Tar Pits” of this “union”, or any union.

“I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON’T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER.” — Groucho Marx

If anything, spin them off into their own country with our apologies for bothering them all these years.

GUNS: What the new ‘assault weapon’ regs, not available to the public?

California DOJ files new ‘assault weapon’ regs, not available to the public
5/16/17 | by Chris Eger

*** begin quote ***

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office this week filed new regulations for review over just what constitutes an “assault weapon” moving forward.

The state Department of Justice submitted draft regulations to the California Office of Administrative Law this week expanding the definition of an “assault weapon” in the state.

The state hasn’t released the proposed regulations to the public, submitting them “file and print only” even though California residents are facing an end of the year registration deadline to abide by the yet-to-be established rules.

This comes three months after the withdrawal of an initial proposed rule formulated during the administration of Attorney General Kamala Harris, now a U.S. senator, to address changes required by legislation passed last year. That rule had been submitted after a proposed emergency regulation on making now-outlawed pre-ban magazines capable of holding more than 10 cartridges compliant, which, in turn, has also been pulled.

The National Rifle Association and California Rifle & Pistol Association had fired off a prelitigation letter to the state, warning of several potential illegalities with the initially proposed regulations and now eagerly wants a look at the new regulations.

*** end quote ***

It’s just a version of the old “hidden ball” trick. Unfortunately for the politicians and bureaucrats of the Pepuls Republik of Kalifornia, the NRA and other “pro-Second Amendment” groups ain’t falling for it.

“We, The Sheeple” should INSIST that all regs, diktats, and “laws” be available for at least 90 days before a 30 day public comment period and THEN a 90 day “cooling off” period, before they get “voted” on.

That should give enough time to people to vote with their feet!

Argh!

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Time to shut down the FBI?

Why the FBI Has Always Been a Political Tool of Suppression
The Daily Bell
May 15, 2017

*** begin quote ***

There is a dangerous myth that permeates the political arena that government agencies and bureaucrats can somehow be non-political and independent.

*** and ***

Politico’s article could be summed up like this:

The FBI has long been an enemy of the citizens of the United States and abused their authority by suppressing dissent and intimidating political opposition to the government. But now, the FBI risks becoming the exclusive tool of one political party, at which point others in government and politics may be targeted! Can’t we all agree that the proper target of the FBI is the peasantry and not the political classes?

The FBI has always been political, and always will be. Trump’s choice will not be inherently better or worse for the American people than picking someone who is not a politician. But Trump’s choice will be pretty scary for those in the government on the left.

*** end quote ***

I doubt that any entity in the Gooferment, at any level, is “non-political”.

That’s why we’d best be served by not having such entities to exist at all.

Sure MAYBE the FBI, thinking back to the Jimmie Stewart FBI movie, catches spies, bank robbers, and serial killers. But how much damage can one serial killer do? 100 people, maybe. How many has the Gooferment killed and ruined how many lives?

As someone, unlikely to be “targeted” by the Gooferment, I’m afraid for my crazy little L libertarians, the whistleblowers, and just plain old good folk who run afoul of some diktat or “regulation”.

Time to tear down these power centers.

Plus, nowadays an admittedly minor afterthought, where in the Constitution does the Federal Gooferment get to have an FBI, CIA, BATFE, TSA, etc. etc. etc. ????????

Just asking?

TINFOILHAT: Murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich — mugging or coverup?

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4509952/DNC-staffer-Seth-Rich-DID-links-Wikileaks.html

Did he or didn’t he? Murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich ‘had WikiLeaks links’ according to private investigator – but the victim’s family have dismissed the PI’s claims as ‘fake evidence’

  • Seth Rich was gunned down in Washington DC as he walked home from a bar
  • DC police claimed the DNC data analyst, 27, was killed in a ‘botched robbery’
  • An investigator working for the Rich family claims his death is being covered up
  • Rod Wheeler claims to have evidence Mr Rich was in contact with WikiLeaks
  • He also believes the authorities have been ordered to drop the investigation
  • But Rich’s family called that ‘fake evidence’ and said they’d heard nothing
  • They said the claims were just a distraction from finding Rich’s real killers
  • And they complained the PI was only supposed to speak with their authorization

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: The pressing NJ problem of “varsity letters”?

Chris Christie Signs 7 Bills Into Law, Including One Inspired By ‘Snooki’Gov.

S-2398/A-3879 (Bateman, Allen, Greenstein, Singleton/Ciattarelli, Auth, Space) – Requires school district to adopt policy allowing students in grades 9 through 12 who participate in certain interscholastic extracurricular activities to earn varsity letter

*** end quote ***

So the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee has time to legislate on “varsity letters”, but can’t solve the fiscal problems.

Doesn’t anyone see the folly in this?

Another reason that the Gooferment Skrules should be privatized. Really privatized.

I believe that it could take 40 years — 20 to transfer them to private entities and another 20 to reduce the Gooferment funding to zero — but imagine how free we’d be when the Gooferment can’t propagandize the the children.

Argh!

NOTRECOMMENDED: LIMA, a personal cloud server and service

Sunday, May 14, 2017

http://meetlima.com

This does NOT live up to the hype. I read the articles, some from reputable tech journals, and bought in.

After trying to install it, and could not, I find out there are all sorts of problems.

* Doesn’t work with CHROMEBOOKS (No one mentioned that.)

* Doesn’t support shared Users on a computer.

* Doesn’t install easily

And there support site has many pages of questions form Users globally.

I was looking for a POGOPLUG replacement and I think I’ve bought a pig.

More to follow.

POLITICAL: Why aren’t anti ‘Airbnb’ Ordinances a “taking” under the Fifth Amendment?

Toms River ‘Airbnb’ Ordinance Revised for Barrier Island Neighborhoods
By Daniel Nee –  May 11, 2017

*** begin quote ***

An ordinance aimed at preventing short-term home rentals such as those booked on the website ‘Airbnb’ was tweaked this week to exclude barrier island neighborhoods from the regulations, which essentially ban short-term rentals. But one mainland resident said that it is not fair to those who live on lagoons on the west side of the bay, which also could be attractive for vacationers.

*** end quote ***

Why isn’t this a “taking” under the Fifth Amendment?

Whose property is it?

And unless you live there full-time, you don’t get to vote for these tyrants. “No taxation without representation” is another joke!

HEALTH: DVT prevention; your responsiblity — not the airlines or the Gooferment

How to prevent blood clots as airlines squeeze you into tighter spaces
THE POTENTIALLY FATAL CONDITION IS LIKELY TO INCREASE AS LEGROOM DECREASES

The bottom line, Stewart says, is that as long as people continue to practice unhealthy plane habits, the rates of DVT will either remain the same or increase—but with a little knowledge (and movement), the condition could be completely prevented.

*** end quote ***

It’s a systemic problem we have the airplanes, their design, and the Gooferment. No one is responsible for the result —  crippled and even dead people!
