Richard Hobson of New Jersey wrote: “The only standard by which our distinguished congressmen and congresswomen should be judged on this issue is simply this: Will you personally forsake your current taxpayer-provided congressional health-care plan for the new one you have just passed?”

That’s the acid test of all this bluff and bluster from the “District of Corruption”!
Just do a clean repeal, put down the pens, and step away from the “legislating”.
All they do is make things worse and worse.
Leave people alone to make their own decisions.

Recently, these efforts have ranged from fairly large, ongoing campaigns in Texas and California to smaller pushes in Oklahoma, Maine, Utah, West Virginia and New York’s Long Island, among others.
Just last month, a longshot effort to allow Californians to vote on seceding fell apart after one of the founders dropped out amid criticism of his ties to Russia. But a new group pushing secession has vowed to collect the nearly 600,000 signatures required by July to put the measure on the November 2018 ballot.
Last May, the Texas Nationalist Movement came within two votes of adding Texas independence language to the state’s Republican platform. And in Oklahoma, Republican state Sen. Joseph Silk in January introduced a bill to remove the word “inseparable” from the sentence in the state constitution describing Oklahoma as “an inseparable part of the Federal Union.”
The move for independence, whether it’s from the right of the political spectrum as in Texas, or the left as in California, reflects the political division felt across the country, said Edward Meisse, a supporter of the Yes California secession group that just disbanded. “We have two diametrically opposed philosophies in our country, and we’re just not getting anywhere,” he said. “I think we should allow states to secede so California can be California and Texas can be Texas.”

Yeah, right! Unfortunately, once the Gooferment gets power, it will never relinquish it voluntarily. People can NOT be held against their will. If an individual did it, then it’d be called “kidnapping”. But when the Gooferment does it, it’s call “jurisdiction”. Of course, once people start to refuse their cooperation to the Gooferment, it’ll collapse. It happened to the old Soviet Union; it’ll happen here too.
With all the out of control spending, unfunded and underfunded pensions, soaring “entitlement” costs, the collapse is inevitable. The only question is “who takes the ‘haircut’?”
Argh!
Secession is the only LOGICAL solution.

NORWAY IS HOME to more than 1,100 road tunnels. They cut through the mountains and stretch under its deep sea, allowing vehicles a more direct route through the country’s challenging terrain. The Scandinavian country has burrowed thoroughfares for nearly every mode of transportation—except one.
“We build a lot of tunnels, just not for ships” says Terje Andreassen, head of Kystverket, the Norwegian coastal administration. It’s strange when you think about it. Norway has more than 18,000 miles of coastline, punctuated by rugged cliffs that jut into the sea like outstretched fingers. The country’s fjords fill the long, slender gaps between the cliffs. These narrow inlets are famed for their beauty, but are a pain for shipping vessels. Traversing the country’s coast requires venturing in and out of fjords, which is inefficient; and rough waters on the open ocean occasionally strand boats in an inlet’s relatively placid waters. That’s why, for the last two years, Kystverket and the architecture firm Snohetta have plugged away at a proposal to build the world’s first ship tunnel. The recently approved plan calls for a mile-long passageway through the Stadlandet Peninsula in northwestern Norway, and would afford boats a safe and quick alternative to the tumultuous waters separating two major fjords.

And a great engineering feat.
Makes life better, safer, and more predictable for their society.
My only question is: “As a gooferment project, as opposed to one funded and done by an entrepreneur, how much of a boondoggle will this become?”
We’ll just have to wait and see.

Unit 731 was a unit of the Japanese Imperial Army that carried out brutal (and, in many cases, lethal) experimentation on human beings during World War II under the guise of chemical and biological research. For the majority of the time it was active, the unit acted under the command of General Shiro Ishii, and was responsible for the deaths of up to 250,000 people. The worst part? Instead of being put on trial for human experimentation, the people involved with the unit were granted immunity by the US government in exchange for the data they had gathered.

While I found the concept of a “Wikihole” fascinating, the first suggestion was shocking!
Once again the US Gooferment does the unthinkable and the unforgivable.
The blood of a ¼ million human beings is on that “data” and amnesty.

A ruling from a judge may be needed to sell homemade baked goods in Wisconsin.
Three home bakers in the state are challenging a state law that can punish people who sell homemade cookies, brownies and other treats with up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Lafayette County Judge Duane Jorgensen will rule on May 31 if Wisconsin’s ban on the sale of homemade baked goods is unconstitutional, the Associated Press reported. The challenge to the home-baking ban was brought by the Institute for Justice.
