Unprecedented images of WWII shipwrecks from Battle of Midway reveal clues about aircraft carriers’ “final moments”

Each dive ended with protocol ceremonies to honor all who lost their lives in the battle.

More than 3,400 people were killed at Midway, and the vast majority of casualties were Japanese service members, according to the National WWII Museum. About 362 U.S. troops were among the dead. Japan lost four aircraft carriers, one cruiser, and hundreds of aircraft, while the U.S. lost one carrier, one destroyer and 144 aircraft during the battle.

“On this occasion, we meet on those same Pacific waters in which Japan and the U.S. once met in battle, but this time as allies and fellow researchers,” said Embassy of Japan Minister Kosei Nomura. “We are reminded that today’s peace and tomorrow’s discoveries are built on the sacrifices of war, and so in my view, it is meaningful that Japan and the U.S. are now deepening their cooperation at Midway, utilizing such cutting-edge technology.”

And, let’s learn a lesson about war.  Young men die!  Unnecessarily!

Best way to honor vets is to not make more of them.

VETERANS: Not sure how many vets would sign up again?

How the Hell Do You Think Us Veterans Feel Right Now?
Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

*** begin quote ***

Was I a sucker? I sure don’t want to feel like a sap, but the thought that I may be one arises when I watch this endless parade of patriots – including our last conscious president – being prosecuted for their political beliefs and treated differently under a two-tier justice system as the garbage institutions attempt to quash free speech, and as the alleged president, a desiccated, corrupt, old pervert, generally drives our country into the ground. I defended this?

I did 27 years in our military. I proudly swore to defend our Constitution. Now, I only washed trucks – I wasn’t a war hero like Pete Buttigieg or Da Nang Dick Blumenthal, and I certainly wasn’t killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and also (I think) Maui like Joe Biden’s non-coke-addled son was, but I showed up. I dressed like a tree, marched around, went where they sent me, and did my job. Don’t get me wrong – it was not all bad. It was fun some of the time, and I got to do a lot of interesting things other people didn’t get to. I got a little money – very little – and I’ve always been intensely grateful for the chance to be an American soldier. And I took it seriously. That oath I took? It never expires. And now I just need to know if I was a sucker for believing all that Constitution and freedom stuff when I raised my right hand.

I know a lot of fellow vets who are asking the same question.

*** and ***

So, we return to the original question. Was I a sucker for doing what I did? Did I fall for the okey-doke? Was I the mark? Were all of us veterans fooled?

Absolutely not, because the America I chose to defend, and that millions and millions of veterans chose to defend, was worthy of our service and our sacrifice. The unworthy among us have temporarily taken over. The unworthy have gutted our institutions and, as Twitter legend Iowahawk memorably put it, worn those institutions as a skinsuit demanding respect.

*** end quote ***

Look at how Vets are treated in comparison to “illegal invaders”.

Look at the VA health system.

Look at “equal justice under the law” when vets get shafted.

All of us vets were betrayed.

Leave no man behind was our code; only to be betrayed by politicians and bureaucrats at their first opportunity.

I, for one, think it’s time to fix this once and for all.

Argh!

VETERANS: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers — 1,000 KIAs

Tuesday, June 6, 2023

https://www.army.mil/d-day/

On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end, the Allies gained a foot-hold in Continental Europe. The cost in lives on D-Day was high. More than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 Soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe, to defeat Adolf Hitler’s crack troops.

Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt Jr.
Unit: 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division

Citation: For gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty on 6 June 1944, in France. After 2 verbal requests to accompany the leading assault elements in the Normandy invasion had been denied, Brig. Gen. Roosevelt’s written request for this mission was approved and he landed with the first wave of the forces assaulting the enemy-held beaches. He repeatedly led groups from the beach, over the seawall and established them inland. His valor, courage, and presence in the very front of the attack and his complete unconcern at being under heavy fire inspired the troops to heights of enthusiasm and self-sacrifice. Although the enemy had the beach under constant direct fire, Brig. Gen. Roosevelt moved from one locality to another, rallying men around him, directed and personally led them against the enemy. Under his seasoned, precise, calm, and unfaltering leadership, assault troops reduced beach strong points and rapidly moved inland with minimum casualties. He thus contributed substantially to the successful establishment of the beachhead in France.

Remember

The freedom we share is surely not free.

It’s paid with lives given for you and for me.

All the brave that have fallen, at air, sea and land.

So we remain free and our Nation may stand.

Let us keep in our hearts, remember always and today.

All of those who just for us, their own lives gave away.

I echo Former Republican Congressman Ron Paul spoke out Sunday afternoon at the “Rage Against the War Machine” rally in Washington DC, where he suggested that ways to end the wars could include the abolition of the Federal Reserve and having 18-24 year olds vote on the wars.

“WAR is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.” –Major General Smedley Butler

Old men send young boys and girls to die for unfathomable reasons.

NY Hotels Boot Homeless Veterans to Shelter Released Migrants
Bob Price  — 13 May 2023

*** begin quote ***Upstate New York hotels began kicking homeless veterans from their properties to make room for migrants being bused to the region from New York City. The homeless veterans, many Vietnam-era veterans, were receiving temporary shelter in the hotels through the efforts of a nonprofit agency.

The New York Post reports that nearly two dozen homeless veterans “have been booted from the upstate hotels to make room for migrants.” One of the hotels told a 24-year-old Afghanistan war veteran their temporary housing was being pulled out from under them and they would have to move somewhere else.

Sharon Toney-Finch, CEO of the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation, told the New York Post, “Our veterans have been placed in another hotel due to what’s going on with the immigrants.”

Toney-Finch said they moved the veterans from the Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh, New York, to other nearby motels and hotels. The properties were located about 20 minutes from where they were displaced.

Orange County, New York, is now the target of a migrant busing campaign by New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The mayor is moving the migrants out of his sanctuary city to Upstate New York to relieve migrant overcrowding in his city.

At 2:43 pm on October 24, 1944, one day before the Battle of Surigao Strait, Rear Admiral Jesse B. Oldendorf received a dispatch from Vice Admiral Thomas C. Kinkaid, commander of the Central Philippines Attack Force. The message was straightforward and direct: “Prepare for night engagement,” and was duly logged aboard Oldendorf’s flagship, the heavy cruiser USS Louisville. Admiral Oldendorf, commander of the Leyte invasion fire support warships, was not surprised by the order. Naval intelligence had already been apprised of the fact that a Japanese force was on its way toward Leyte Gulf

The wreckage of a U.S. submarine from World War II was found off the coast of Hokkaido in northern Japan — after disappearing almost 80 years ago.

The USS Albacore, credited with sinking at least 10 enemy vessels during the war, was found by the University of Tokyo’s Tamaki Ura and positively identified by the Naval History and Heritage Command, the Navy said on Thursday.

Albacore was long assumed to be lost forever. According to Japanese records, the submarine, with a crew of 85 men on board, likely struck a mine just off the shore of Hokkaido on Nov. 7, 1944, the NHHC said.

Retired Navy Captain Royce Williams was sworn to secrecy for more than 50 years over fears that his battle against seven Soviet fighters could spark war with Russia.

Now the 97-year-old is free to tell his tale and is due to receive the Navy’s second highest award for combat valor on Friday at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.

VETERANS: The KIAs, MIAs, and POWs deserve a full and complete accounting

NEVER leave a marine behind; Biden administration JUST DID, left another, Whelan, behind for WNBA player Griner in a reckless prisoner swap for Viktor Bout, like 13 killed leaving Afghanistan; the left, Biden et al. show you just how they value US military who is scum to them, a WNBA player caught with cannabis oil is worth same as the Russian ‘merchant of death’ & more than a marine
Dr. Paul Alexander

*** begin quote ***

The left hates the military, uses it for convenience and simply to enrich themselves (and btw, so do republicans). Obama did same for that puke fraud BergDOG (Bergdahl), remember him, the one he traded for serious deadly middle eastern killers. Remember the deserter who was traded for the vicious five, I remind you with their high school picture day photos below. This is the left, do not forget. Remember these 5 innocent friendly neighborhood homies, flying kites and building sandcastles sending you butterfly kisses. They were not building bombs and not trying to kill as many Americans (and us) as they could. Obama thought they were priests, innocent priests. He equated one deserter who placed soldiers ta risk searching for his deserter arse to these five. Do you? Do you think the Bout-Griner trade was fair or equal or even should have happened? I say no, never and certainly if not inclusive of Whelan and maybe 10 others

“Never leave a man behind.” Is a MYTH.

The USA Gooferment has left men and women behind whenever it was “necessary”.  WWII thru Afghanistan have copious examples.  Vietnam is still a festering sore thanks to John McCain covering up his prison record.

I discourage anyone from enlisting because you can’t trust the US Gooferment and the Deep State that runs it to protect our troops.

And, BTW, I don’t know who is running the Biden White House, but it sure is not Biden.   Maybe “Doctor” Jill as the present day instantiation of Elinor Roosevelt.  Maybe BHO44 via Susan Rice.  But it sure is not Demented Joe.

We have to try and pressure the politicians and bureaucrats for a better full and complete accounting of the KIAs, MIAs, and POWs.

Sorry I have no faith in the Gooferment; perhaps an enraged “We, The Sheeple” might be able to get their attention?

Another Double Whammy
By Laurence M. Vance

*** begin quote ***

If you have the misfortune of attending the typical conservative, evangelical, or fundamentalist church on a Sunday before a military appreciation day (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day), you will see the church building and the grounds around the church decorated with American flags, hear special prayers offered for the troops, see military personnel and veterans recognized (especially if they wear their uniforms to church), read the church bulletin with an American flag on the cover, see men wearing cross and flag lapel pins, hear hymns of worship sung to the state, hear the choir singing a medley of patriotic songs, see video tributes to the troops, and hear the pianist play the song of each branch of the military during the offering.

But now, this Sunday, since it is also the Sunday before election day, you can expect to see and hear extra American flags adorning the church and grounds, admonitions to pray for America and government officials, a military color guard parading down the main aisle of the church to open the service, pastors reading the Declaration of Independence, pastors leading the congregation in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, men wearing American flag ties, local politicians in attendance (only Republicans, of course) being introduced and sometimes asked to come up and say a few words, and/or a military chaplain from the local base delivering the sermon.

Some churches will no doubt also sing Lee Greenwood’s patriotic anthem “God Bless the USA,” and they will sing it proudly because they are proud to be Americans where at least they know they’re free. (I can just picture Christians singing this in church in 2020 or 2021 with a mask on their face.)

*** end quote ***

In my “eddycation”, I always thought that the Church was a “Champion of the People” against the King in the Middle Ages.  I think that in Lincoln’s “Civil War” (aka the war of northern aggression) that line was blurred.  That trend continued into WW1 when the Churches aligned themselves with the Gooferment.  Fast forward to the Viet Nam war when the Churches were big in the (Astroturf) antiwar movement against Nixon. LBJ just stepped into it.  At that point, the Deep State began to subvert the Church goers with a deliberate policy of eroding moral values.  Pedophilia in the Catholic Church took them out of education business.  And here we wind up with the various Churches supporting the “military”.   The Gooferment politicians and bureaucrats could care less about the troops or veterans.  Look at the MIA as an example.  So I think the writer is on to something.

Let’s separate Church and State!

I still don’t understand women in the military.  In Israel, where ere is no front line or safe rear area, I understand that everyone fights. (Reminds me of Heinlein’s Starship Troopers, there is a line that goes something like “everyone drops (parachutes) in and everybody fights”.

That being said, the only reason for the draft’s continued existence is it provides a Gooferment paycheck to an entrenched bureaucracy. VETERANS: D-Day — anyone remember it?

Monday, June 6, 2022

https://www.army.mil/d-day/history.html

*** begin quote ***

The Normandy beaches were chosen by planners because they lay within range of air cover, and were less heavily defended than the obvious objective of the Pas de Calais, the shortest distance between Great Britain and the Continent. Airborne drops at both ends of the beachheads were to protect the flanks, as well as open up roadways to the interior. Six divisions were to land on the first day; three U.S., two British and one Canadian. Two more British and one U.S. division were to follow up after the assault division had cleared the way through the beach defenses.

Disorganization, confusion, incomplete or faulty implementation of plans characterized the initial phases of the landings. This was especially true of the airborne landings which were badly scattered, as well as the first wave units landing on the assault beaches. To their great credit, most of the troops were able to adapt to the disorganization. In the end, the Allies achieved their objective.

Technician Fifth Grade John J. Pinder Jr.

Unit: 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division

Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty on 6 June 1944, near Colleville-sur-Mer, France. On D-day, Technician 5th Grade Pinder landed on the coast 100 yards off shore under devastating enemy machinegun and artillery fire which caused severe casualties among the boatload. Carrying a vitally important radio, he struggled towards shore in waist-deep water. Only a few yards from his craft he was hit by enemy fire and was gravely wounded. Technician 5th Grade Pinder never stopped. He made shore and delivered the radio. Refusing to take cover afforded, or to accept medical attention for his wounds, Technician 5th Grade Pinder, though terribly weakened by loss of blood and in fierce pain, on 3 occasions went into the fire-swept surf to salvage communication equipment. He recovered many vital parts and equipment, including another workable radio. On the 3rd trip he was again hit, suffering machinegun bullet wounds in the legs. Still this valiant soldier would not stop for rest or medical attention. Remaining exposed to heavy enemy fire, growing steadily weaker, he aided in establishing the vital radio communication on the beach. While so engaged this dauntless soldier was hit for the third time and killed. The indomitable courage and personal bravery of Technician 5th Grade Pinder was a magnificent inspiration to the men with whom he served.

What is the final lesson you can share?

That we will continue to sort of stumble through questions about war, but never learn anything. For 50 years, I never spoke about war, much
less myself or what I did. I had nightmares. I had my inner struggles and inner demons and I had to overcome them in time, but by the same
token war was not something I wanted to remember or document. It was not until I got invited to speak to others about my combat experience, to
speak to groups of young people, that I realized I had a duty and obligation to reflect my true feelings and beliefs about war. The people
were so young. I recognized a duty to remind young people about the sacrifices made by other Americans, up to and including death, to make
life possible for them and others not yet born. When called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice, some of us did, and they should be remembered.
Those of us who survived owe it to them, and to each other, to remember what they sacrificed.

Biden’s DHS Confirms Plans to Siphon Healthcare Services Away from Veterans to Illegal Aliens at Border

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has seemingly confirmed plans to siphon healthcare services away from American veterans treated at Veterans Affairs (VA) to illegal aliens arriving at the United States-Mexico border.

During a hearing before the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas confirmed to Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) that the Biden administration is in talks with VA officials to potentially transfer doctors and nurses to the southern border to treat illegal aliens arriving every day in record-breaking numbers.

“Is the department planning to reallocate resources, doctors and nurses, from our VA system intended to care for our veterans to illegal immigrants at our southern border?” Hinson asked.

Mayorkas responded, stating that “the resources that the medical personnel from the Veterans Administration would allocate to this effort is under the judgment of the secretary of Veterans Affairs, who prioritizes the interests of veterans above all others for very noble and correct.”

Sigh! Once again the USA screws its military.  Time to hold the Gooferment’s politicians and bureaucrats accountable.

VETERANS: Vets know what the FLAG really means — a lot of KIAs, MIAs, WIAs, DAVs who sacrificed for it

Utah garbage man secretly filmed teaching woman a ‘lesson’ about American flag
‘I took an oath once to defend this country and our flag, and I still do,’ the man said
By Jon Brown | Fox News

A garbage man in Utah was filmed last week taking an American flag out of the trash and folding it neatly when he thought nobody was looking.

Don “Munch” Gardner, a Marine Corps veteran, was secretly taped honoring the flag by Huntingdon, Utah resident Brooke Cowley, according to Fox 13.

“I was a complete idiot! I was cleaning our porch while the kids did an Easter egg hunt. I threw away our flag and pole because it had broken and ripped,” Cowley wrote on Facebook. “Then I witnessed our ‘garbage man’ stop get out of the truck, unhook the flag and take the time to fold it!”

A lot of people sacrifices — some it all — and hopefully we all will remember that.

God loved the Marines.  And they prove what they love — Semper Fidelis.

TIL about Project 100k, where LBJ and Sec of Def Robert MacNamara decided to lower the mental and medical standards to recruit more soldiers to fight in Vietnam. These soldiers died at ~3x the normal rate.

Project 100,000 (also McNamara’s 100,000), also known as McNamara’s Folly, McNamara’s Morons and McNamara’s Misfits,[1][2] was a controversial 1960s program by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) to recruit soldiers who would previously have been below military mental or medical standards.

VETERANS: Pvt. Henry Gunther should be the icon for all of America’s wars

A Tribute to Pvt. Henry Gunther and Others
By Brian Maher
Posted November 11, 2020

*** begin quote ***

102 years ago today, on the 11th month, 11th day and 11th hour… the guns went quiet on the Western Front…

And the white doves of peace took wing.

Today we turn away from the Sturm und Drang of the present — from the world of manna, from the election, from the virus — to reflect briefly upon that morning of Nov. 11, 1918… and a little-known chapter of history.

*** and ***

Three words spring to mind:

Spite. Ambition. Stupidity.

But there were careers to consider. Consider the general who invaded Stenay so his men could bathe — a certain William Mason Wright.

After the war he was promoted. Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Army was his new title.

He could claim the distinction, after all, of capturing the final American objective of the war.

A less gaudy distinction fell to a young man under his command that morning — Pvt. Henry Gunther by name, of our former city of Baltimore.

This poor fellow was the last allied fatality of that fateful day, Nov. 11, 1918 — and of the Great War itself. Time of death:

10:59 a.m.

Below, we show you why the American entry into WWI was a foolish idea, in addition to other foolish ideas that have landed America in trouble.

*** end quote ***

Let’s no forget Pvt. Henry Gunther and all the other MIAs, KIAs, and all the other broken casualties of war.

And, the politicians and bureaucrats that fight pointless wars with other people children!

Remind them often.

VETERANS: Gastonia, NC mistreat a homeless vet and his dog is killed; for NOTHING?

Veteran Attacked, His Service Dog Tasered After Angry Woman Wrongly Accused Him of Panhandling
Matt Agorist October 20, 2021

*** begin quote ***

Gastonia, NC — Joshua Rohrer is an honorably discharged Army veteran who, like tens of thousands of other veterans, is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after serving in Afghanistan. As a result of his illness, Rohrer hasn’t been able to hold down a job and is homeless. As panhandling is illegal in the city, Rohrer simply sits on the street and waves to folks as they walk by — which ended last week in a violent encounter with police.

*** and ***

Huffman explained that after she was tasered, Sunshine took off running and hid in a nearby store.

“[Rohrer] said, ‘My dog! My dog!’” Huffman said. “They took him to the back of the police car and slammed him on the pavement.”

That’s when Conley began filming as more officers arrived on the scene.

“It was really traumatizing,” Conley said. “I’ve never seen anything like that.”

When Rohrer bonded out, he told local media that he wasn’t begging for money, despite what the caller said. He was simply sitting there, which is not illegal at all.

“They proceeded to attack me and rough me up and use excessive force what I would consider police brutality,” he said. “I wish that they would have been calm and listen to what I had to say instead of attacking me.”

According to Rohrer’s family, after finding out his dog had been killed, he is not doing well.

VETERANS: Only vets should vote!

What is something that a fictional chacter said that stuck with you ? [SERIOUS]

“A soldier accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic of which he is a member, defending it, if need be, with his life. The civilian does not.” — Lt. Col. Jean V. Dubois (Ret.) and student, p. 26 Starship Troopers (1959) by Robert A. Heinlein

This resonated with me. As a VietNam era vet, I realized that only vets should vote. I lost friends in the Republic of, had friends and relatives come back “different”, and even lost my best friend who went underground to avoid the draft.

Only vets should vote, because they UNDERSTAND (I’d use the Heinlein word ‘grok’) what it means to send young women and men in “harm’s way”. When politicians and bureaucrats vote for war, I’d hand them a rifle and say “OK, Pops, you go first!”

VETERANS: DNF D-Day

Sunday, June 6, 2021

Bedford boys

*** begin quote ***

Bedford, Virginia… Like eleven other Virginia communities, Bedford provided a company of soldiers (Company A) to the 29th Infantry Division when the National Guard’s 116th Infantry Regiment was activated on 3 February 1941. Some thirty Bedford soldiers were still in that company on D-Day; several more from Bedford were in other D-Day companies, including one who, two years earlier, had been reassigned from the 116th Infantry to the First Infantry Division. Thus he had already landed in both Northern Africa and Sicily before coming ashore on D-Day at Omaha Beach with the Big Red One. Company A of the 116th Infantry assaulted Omaha Beach as part of the First Division’s Task Force O.

By day’s end, nineteen of the company’s Bedford soldiers were dead. Two more Bedford soldiers died later in the Normandy campaign, as did yet another two assigned to other 116th Infantry companies. Bedford’s population in 1944 was about 3,200. Proportionally this community suffered the nation’s severest D-Day losses. Recognizing Bedford as emblematic of all communities, large and small, whose citizen-soldiers served on D-Day, Congress warranted the establishment of the National D-Day Memorial here.

*** end quote ***

Having met some D-Day vets I’d say the common factor was their humility.

Not sure that I’d have had the stones to do what they did,

And, I hope such courage will never be required again.

VETERANS: WWII Midway vats were of stern stock

A great summary of the battle of Midway.

It’s hard to imagine the courage it took to go up facing certain death in obsolete hardware to take a swing and hope for a “lucky strike”.

The American experiment was save here by a bunch of tough men.

Where will they come from when need again?

VETERANS: Remember and recover ALL the Vets

Honored at last: Remembering the heroes of Flying Tiger Line Flight 739
By Jane Ridley

*** begin quote ***

The Sargent family, including Judith (from left) and Clifton and daughter Jennifer Kirk, lost Clifton’s brother, Donald, when Don’s military flight disappeared.Six decades after their loved ones vanished into thin air, relatives of the victims of Flying Tiger Line Flight 739 — 93 soldiers aboard a secret-mission flight chartered by the US Army in the buildup to the Vietnam War — want answers.

They gathered together Saturday for a ceremony in Columbia Falls, Maine, organized by the non-profit Wreaths Across America at a memorial to honor the fallen.

“The memorial ceremony offers some closure,” Marie Mull, 82, told The Post of her brother, Sgt. Clarence Ganance of Rensselaer, NY. “We’ve always wondered what happened . . . probably always will.”

Nobody knows exactly what happened on the morning of March 16, 1962, because no bodies nor debris — not even a single piece — have ever been recovered.

*** and ***

Some sources claim the elite team of Rangers aboard Flight 793, mostly communications specialists, had been hand-picked by President John F. Kennedy as part of a covert operation involving the CIA. It has since emerged that in early 1962 — three years before American ground troops “officially” entered the Vietnam conflict — the US had advisors training indigenous tribes in Laos and Cambodia. As the agency was trying to determine if America should join the ongoing war in Southeast Asia, the situation was politically sensitive.

*** and ***

Repeat demands from legislators, including Maine Senator Susan Collins, led to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests and the release of heavily redacted military documents — but that has only caused dissatisfaction among bereaved family members frustrated by the absence of clarity.

“It’s called the runaround,” concluded Crumpler. “Nobody [in the political system] has an answer so they just keep sending us elsewhere.”

Neither the government nor military has taken an official stance on the mission or what might have happened to the flight. A report by the Civil Aeronautic Board released after the crash merely stated that “the board is unable to determine the probable cause.”

*** and ***

Right now, she said, “It’s as if James and the other men never existed.”

The appeals have so far been thwarted by the Department of Defense which claims those aboard Flight 739 were not participating in an “official” combat mission.

She, along with the other grieving families, believes the unveiling of the Maine memorial is a step in the right direction.

“The Rangers’ creed says ‘Leave no comrade behind,’ but these men were left behind,” pointed out Monica Young, whose father, John C Wendell, Sergeant First Class, disappeared the day before her 15th birthday. “Thanks to this [Saturday’s] remembrance, they’ve no longer been left behind.”

*** end quote ***

Sorry, but the Gooferment’s “official mission” is just bureaucratic “new speak” for “we don’t give a s#$%”!

I think as part of every vet’s “celebration” — Independence Day, Decoration Day, and Veterans’ Day — we should take the opportunity to demand that “our representative” account for the Gooferment’s past actions that cost good men and women their lives, happiness, and posterity.

Argh!

I will; will you?
