RANT: Elect Ron Paul; get the girls and boys home NOW!

Scott Reinke, father of Army Staff Sgt. Gavin Reinke, who was killed in Iraq in May 2006.

Reinke is proud of his son’s service to his country and is certain nearly all U.S. service men and women who took part in the Iraq war share that same pride. But that’s not the same thing as believing the war was worth the cost.

“I was reading a story in the paper this morning where this Iraqi was saying that Americans didn’t leave new schools and factories, that we left a nation of widows and orphans,” Reinke said and then softly cursed. “After all we put into that country. If that guy’s sentiments represents a majority of the Iraqi people, then what we’re getting out of that war isn’t worth all that we put into it.”

Reinke recounted how President George W. Bush urged American intervention in Iraq in 2003 on the basis that dictator Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. None was found.

“Granted, Hussein was an evil man. But it’s hard for me to justify our sticking our nose in that country’s business. The Middle East has always been in turmoil. Maybe if I felt that the Iraqi people were truly grateful.”

Reinke said he recently ate lunch next to an Army engineer who talked about all the friends he’d lost in Iraq.

“This soldier talked about how his guys would be building a school or working on some infrastructure project and the Iraqis hated Americans so much, they’d just attack them anyway,” Reinke said. ” I don’t think anyone who lost a child, or a husband, or a wife, or had someone severely wounded over there will tell you that it was worth it. Now I wish we’d do the same in Afghanistan.”

It’s one thing if the girls and boys are down at the beach or the border to resist an invasion, but that hasn’t happened since 1812?

Not one drop of blood, nor a penny of treasure, is worth sticking our <plural synonym for donkey> in another country’s business.

Ron Paul is the ONLY “peace” candidate. And, he’s not an isolationist; nor, stupid about defending America. He’s just serious about it.

This may be our ONLY chance to reverse the “imperial” rule of the “chicken hawks”. You don’t see their children dying overseas. Hell, they don’t even send their kids to “publik sckrules”!

RANT: “Trapped” in the United States

Louise, 38, and her 40-year-old husband Shane are about to spend their eighth Christmas away from their family back in Co. Donegal.

“Another Christmas away is just terrible,” Louise, a bartender, shared with the Irish Voice over the weekend.

“It’s getting harder all the time. Our parents are getting old and we’re missing so many special events like another Christmas, not to mention several weddings and christenings.”

Her husband Shane agrees, but says being realistic they can’t move home at the moment because “there is no work” in Ireland.

*** end quote ***

Well, overlooking the media bias —

— “trapped”, I don’t think so. They can return for free courtesy of the US taxpayer. “undocumented”, I’m sure they do have “documents”. Just not the right kind. Argh! —

— I agree with them.

There should be no bar to crossing a border unless you’re a criminal, (then we’d expect some proof that you’ve turned a page), or planning to go on welfare. Bought the only reasonable restriction might be posting a bond equal to the passage “home”.

I don’t understand.

Doesn’t anyone read the Statue of Liberty? Or, did we put a garbage bag over that?

Sure, no welfare for immigrants. But then we shouldn’t have “welfare” for anyone.

We want all those folks who want to work their <synonym for donkey> off. Sure enough, we’ve got enough “citizens” on the dole.

Argh!

I just don’t understand.

Jordan Fulcoly, Wayne Drexel and brothers Tyler and Connor Carroll of Riverhead High School were all handed a one-day suspension Wednesday, after three days of taking a knee with their foreheads resting on their fists, the same way Tebow does in the end zone and on the sidelines. The news was first reported by Yahoo! Prep Rally earlier Thursday.

Riverhead superintendent Nancy Carney said that two of the students’ suspensions were later rescinded, citing that administrators found that those students were not given the same warnings that the other two were.

Tebow has made headlines for the move, a display of his devotion to his Christian faith. The students were not suspended for bringing religion into the school, but instead for clogging the hallway.

Business: The US Air Force quietly announced that they have excluded American aircraft builder Hawker Beechcraft in Wichita, Kansas from competition for a $1 billion contract to build a light attack aircraft. The company said that they had already invested $100 million to comply with what the Air Force wanted in a plane. They also said that 1,400 highly paid technical employees in 20 states will lose their jobs. But here is the outrage. It looks like the $1 Billion contract will go to Embraer…A BRAZILIAN COMPANY. Want even more outrage? Embraer sold 40 light fighters to Iran in 1989, and Iran used the planes as their primary close support aircraft. The Obama Administration is flipping you the bird, America. An outbreak of irresistible silliness left a presiding judge, the local police officers, attorneys and even the defendant himself in tears of laughter at the Dingle District Court in County Kerry at the weekend.

According to The Kerryman the unexpected outbreak of hilarity began as they listened to a completely unlikely series of events that led to three road traffic charges being brought against a man.

Dingle street entertainer Deaglan O’Muiris had originally been stopped by Irish police officer Frank Scanlon, who described to the country court the scene when he pulled the busker over for driving with four bald tires.

*** and ***

Mann added that after being stopped by police officer Scanlon, O’Muiris had immediately paid $470.00 for four new tires for the van.

Police officer Scanlon acknowledged that the tires had been satisfactorily replaced and informed the judge the donkey has also been retired for the winter season.

The defendant was then given until May of 2012 to pay $400.00 to the court poor box to avoid a conviction for the bald tire offenses.

*** end quote ***

Argh!

So why does the poor Mundane have to pay another 400$?

If he had caused an accident due to bald tires, then he’d have had to make restitution.

BUT, under the “no victim = no crime”, why was this fellow accosted and robbed by a “highwayman”?

The donkey was the smartest in the room!!!

Cheers! FDA-approved hangover pill promises to take edge off holiday partying
Over-the-counter cocktail beats hair of the dog
BY Nicole Lyn Pesce NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
Saturday, December 3 2011, 2:56 PM

*** begin quote ***

A new FDA-approved hangover cure has hit the market just in time for holiday party season.

“So many people see hangovers as a shameful or embarrassing thing. I think of them as just a fact of life,” said Brenna Haysom, the creator of Blowfish through the West Village-based Rally Labs LLC.

The over-the-counter drug cocktail combines 1,000 milligrams of aspirin, 120 milligrams of caffeine and a stomach-soothing agent into two effervescent tablets taken the morning after a night of heavy drinking.

*** end quote ***

As anyone who reads this blog, I’d like to replace the FDA with “Consumers’ Reports” type private organizations.

We need to have a gradual way of escaping the regulatory tyranny of an agency that has been captured by those it regulates (i.e., an incestuous relationship between the “regulators”, those “regulated”, and the politicians).

Perhaps a good first step is making FDA approval optional?

If it’s not FDA “approved”, then your right to sue or collect damages is limited in some fashion.

It’d be a start?

RANT: Lautenberg parrots the D talking points

Monday, December 5, 2011

*** begin quote ***

Dear Mr. John:

Thank you for contacting me about taxes. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

On August 2, the “Budget Control Act of 2011” (P.L. 112-25) was signed into law. This law allows the debt limit to be increased by up to $2.1 trillion. In conjunction with this increase, deficits must be decreased by at least $2.1 trillion over 10 years. This law generates $0.9 trillion in initial deficit reduction over 10 years through spending cuts rather than tax increases. At least $1.2 trillion in additional deficit reduction will be identified by the newly-established Congressional Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. This bipartisan committee is charged with presenting a deficit reduction plan by late November, which must receive an up or down vote in both chambers of Congress by the end of the year. If the committee fails to produce a plan, or if the committee’s plan fails to attract the support of a majority of the House and Senate, additional spending cuts of $1.2 trillion over 10 years will automatically occur.

Please be assured that I will be closely monitoring the recommendations of the Joint Committee and I will keep your concerns in mind as this issue receives further consideration by the Senate. Thank you again for contacting me.

FROM FACEBOOK

“Appears that there is a 2nd grader telling the kids that there is no Santa.”

Sorry, but parents should NEVER lie to their children. Ever! They have to be able to KNOW that Mom, but especially Dad, will tell me “the truth” as best as they know it. Imagine what goes on in their little brains when it dawn on them, that the two people their whole life depends on, will look them right in the eye, smile, and lie like a used car salesman. Bad! If they can’t depend on getting the truth from Mom and Dad, who then? (Uncle Ferd!) And, then folks wonder why children turn into teenagers that don’t listen, or respect their parents. Now, you don’t have to tell them everything you know (e.g., sex, income tax rates, how a motor works, how much work stinks, worries). But you don’t have to correct their assumptions, erroneous memes, and | or incorrect paradigms. Just do NOT lie!

Thirty years after Natalie Wood died off Santa Catalina Island, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Thursday that it was reopening the investigation into one of Hollywood’s most enduring mysteries.

Wood, 43, was boating off the island on Thanksgiving weekend 1981 with her husband, Robert Wagner, fellow actor Christopher Walken and others when she somehow went overboard and died. Officials at the time ruled her death an accident, but there has been much speculation since over whether there was more to the story.

Sheriff Lee Baca said detectives want to talk to the captain of the boat after learning of comments he recently made about what happened on board. Baca did not provide further details, adding only that the captain “made comments worthy of exploring.”

Report: Taxpayers’ Entire TARP ‘Investment’ Lost in Bailout of United Commercial Bank

by Laura Rambeau Lee

*** begin quote ***

The Quarterly Report issued in October 2011 by the Special Inspector General of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) reveals the utter lack of oversight and mismanagement of funds in excess of $700 Billion Dollars.

*** and ***

The housing and mortgage crisis was a direct result of the increasing deregulation of the mortgage industry enabled by the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 and the federal government’s ideological philosophy that everyone should and must be afforded their dream of home ownership, regardless of their credit worthiness or their ability to repay the mortgage. The federal government, through coercive threats of lawsuits for discriminatory lending practices, forced these lenders to make these risky loans.

*** and ***

The programs offered by the administration have not produced any positive results for the people of this country. The SIGTARP report clearly reveals the arrogance of the Treasury Department in refusing to heed its recommendations to help struggling homeowners. It is Big Government that created this problem. It is time We the People got our bail out.

*** end quote ***

No, “We, The Sheeple” should cut out losses.

Along the way, the State authorities should investigate fraud and prosecute.

We should return to a “simpler” time of life — along with “too big to fail” is “too big to exist” — and pass a Constitutional amendment to prevent bailouts, subsidies, and other corrupt practices.

Argh!

The sad thing was that “tarp” was supposed to buy toxic assets and was perverted silently without discussion into bailouts.

Why are we still permitting bailed out companies to pay “bonuses”?

Why are we still funding Fannie and Freddie?

Why are we still allowing this to go on?

Intro by… Jim W. Dean

*** begin quote ***

In Vietnam, as with Afghanistan, we sent an army to a hopeless war led by the most corrupt leadership in America’s history.

In Vietnam, a generation of Americans was systematically destroyed, with the best and brightest of the generation “doing time” in Vietnam, combat units, while “bottom feeders” sat in Saigon and DaNang.

Those shirkers an “no accounts” have given us the America we have today, broke, addicted to propaganda and fear, obsessed with safety, a generation ducking responsibility and leadership, borrowing from tomorrow to steal today.

The number of members of congress who ducked Vietnam through imaginary illness, special arrangements for “safe” National Guard units or simply deferment after deferment created a list of “chickenhawks” that became a national shame.

Those that ducked service in Vietnam were the first to push for war after war for the children of those who fought.

Who would have imagined this or have believed they could have gotten away with it?

The day after Veterans’ Day, and all the problems remain. And, the “chickenhawks” are trying to drum up a war with Iran.

When the common citizen conjures up images of a “grad assistant,” they may picture a frail, nerdy, insecure college graduate living in libraries because their sociability is at its apex amongst books. That is not the case here. Mike McQueary is a tall and brooding red head, standing well above six feet and carrying 200-plus burly football player pounds. He was a quarterback at State College High School and Penn State. He is said to have been a vocal leader on the field in Happy Valley and a brilliant persuader of young men when recruting in a living room.

He is said to be a “leader.” What a frighteningly sad reality it is when a community as large as Penn State’s can so horrendously mischaracterize someone who’s stature on the sidelines of every Penn State game is as evident as Joe Pa himself. A leader sternly and angrily screams into that shower to stop. A leader grabs the closest towel or blanket and scoops that boy up, running at break neck speed to the closest area hospital while feverishly dialing 911 on their cell phone. A leader might take a moment to knock out Jerry Sandusky with repeated blows so when the police arrive on scene, he’ll still be there, right at the scene of the crime. A leader stands up. Leaders don’t cower. Leaders don’t run to daddy to ask for advice. Yeah, let’s mull it over in front of the family fire place over cocoa while a ten year old endures a life-changing, earth-shattering assault. Lets look out for my own rear end by, in essence, protecting someone who in 2002, didn’t even work there anymore.

Well said.

Wish I could have said it that way. Or that well.

One has to wonder what any parent, who’s been sold by this cad, feels. Maybe to take a shower. But that has it’s own risks if any Penn Stater is around.

Argh!
