David R. Kohler (a Navy special warfare officer) and James W. Wensyel’s (a retired U.S. Army officer) essay, “America’s First Southeast Asian War” (1990), explains that the U.S. plunged into a war that would see 200,000 American soldiers sent to the Pacific, with 125,000 actually serving in the Philippines, and suffering 7,000 casualties.
About 15,000 to 20,000 Filipino rebels were killed, along with more than 200,000 civilians, all too easily dismissed as what would today be called collateral damage. There were mounting atrocities on both sides. The Americans used various forms of torture, including water boarding, to interrogate captured rebels. Though a few officers were court-martialed for sanctioning torture, their punishment was light. Our generals adopted a fortified hamlet strategy, free fire zones, and destruction of crops in the countryside to deny the rebels food.
Aguinaldo’s guerrilla tactics dragged out the war and made it one of attrition. His men received no outside help, despite pleas to Japan, because the U. S. Navy blockaded the islands. Our troops, with some exceptions, were better armed, fed, and supplied. America won the war, but paid a terrible price, the worst part of which was that neither our military nor civilian leadership seemed to have learned anything about the challenges of jungle fighting against a resolute foe supported by the local population at the end of a logistical chain ten thousand miles long. The lessons were forgotten, to be relearned in Vietnam sixty years later.

LAS VEGAS — A woman died Saturday night after undergoing a medical procedure from two people who are now facing murder charges.
Police say the incident took place at a small office near east Charleston Boulevard and Palm Street. The victim, 42-year-old Elena Caro, arrived Saturday for a buttocks enhancement, but was pronounced dead at a hospital hours later.

So much for the vaunted Gooferment protection.
All the regulations, all the inspectors, and all the laws couldn’t save this poor woman from her own bad decision.
Now, I am sure, that everyone will “blame the victim”.
And, there is some blame for her in this incident.
But, shouldn’t we examine the system that enabled it to happen?
The Gooferment controlled by the AMA, Big Insurance, and Big Pharma, keeps prices high by restricting supply. So what are poor people, without insurance, without money, supposed to do?
Go to the “shade tree mechanics”. The back alley doctors. The con artists.
Could she have been fooled by the illusion of respectability?
And, what did the Gooferment do to prevent this from happening? I bet there were all sorts of tell taale warning signs. I bet various agencies have “inspectors” on the payroll “vigorously” “Inspecting”.
Deregulate healthcare and train the Sheeple to do their own “inspecting”!
It’ll be cheaper and we’ll all be better off.
Gooferment is truly the meme that kills.

The soldier death count is another statistical deception. The actual death count is at least triple the official number posted by the US Military. The official count is of soldiers who died on Iraqi soil, not those who were moved to hospitals outside of Iraq, like other Persian Gulf nations, a ship on the Gulf itself or the Mediterranean Sea, or even Germany.

US breast cancer drug decision ‘marks start of death panels’
America’s health watchdog is considering revoking its approval of the drug Avastin for use on women with advanced breast cancer, leading to accusations that it will mark the start of ‘death panel’ drug rationing.

Avastin, the world’s best selling cancer drug, is primarily used to treat colon cancer and was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2008 for use on women with breast cancer that has spread.
It costs $8,000 (£5,000) a month and is given to about 17,500 women in the US a year. The drug was initially approved after a study found that, by preventing blood flow to tumours, it extended the amount of time until the disease worsened by more than five months. However, two new studies have shown that the drug may not even extend life by an extra month.

Every one sneered at Sarah for “death panels”. However it appears she was right. It’s one thing if a patient decides to forego the drug. Even if it’s just that they don’t have the money. But, when politicians and bureaucrats make decisions based on money, it doubtful that this is in our best interests.

British doctor and nine others killed in Afghanistan ambush
A British doctor, Dr Karen Woo, was among ten aid workers ambushed and shot dead by gunmen in a remote area of northern Afghanistan, it emerged today.

A British doctor, Dr Karen Woo, was among ten aid workers ambushed and shot dead by gunmen in a remote area of northern Afghanistan, it emerged today.
The body of Dr Woo, whose family came from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, was found on Friday next to three bullet-riddled four-wheel drive vehicles.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack, which also claimed the lives of six Americans, a German and two Afghan interpreters. The attack happened in the Kuran Wa Munjan district of Badakhshan province in Afghanistan.
It is understood that the victims were lined up, robbed and shot dead with AK-47 rifles. “Yesterday (Friday) at around 8am, one of our patrols confronted a group of foreigners. They were Christian missionaries and we killed them all,” said Zabihullah Mujahed, a spokesman for the Taliban.
Dr Woo was returning to Kabul after working in an eye clinic in the Nuristan province when her convoy was attacked. She had previously worked for private health care firm Bupa before she decided to do aid work in Afghanistan. Her parents and two brothers were too upset to comment on her death.

I’d say a plague on their house. And, walk away.
I’m touched by the human suffering. But only the folks there can upset the apple cart.
Clearly, the Taliban don’t want any help. So we should pull back. And, if they stick there head up to hurt us, then we help them back to the stone age “dog eat dog prison” that they have created. That means no “diplomatic” trips to NYC, London, or Paris. No personal foreign bank accounts. They’re in a jail; that we don’t have to pay for.
And we can use the power of Marque and Reprisal! (Think of a “get out of jail free” card and a “dead or alive” wanted poster with “alive” crossed out.
“We, The People” have to direct our representatives to get the hell out of this mess and save some lives.
