WESTFIELD, NJ — Now slated to be the location of an affordable housing complex, Williams Nursery in Westfield announced they will soon be closing for good, after serving the community for over a century.

The family-owned plant nursery’s last day will be July 3, according to a lengthy Facebook post, signed by the Williams and Jackson families who own the garden. They wrote that shutting down a business that is 102 years old is “a difficult thing.”

“There have been countless wonderful customers that have passed through our doors,” the owners wrote on Facebook. “We are going to miss sharing the smiles, and chats. We know that some of you used our store as an oasis in a bump in your lives. We are grateful that we got to help smooth the edges of those bumps.”

Brindle said the Williams Nursery has been zoned for affordable housing since the 1990s, and this project will help Westfield meet its state-mandated affordable housing obligations.

Brindle explained that the Williams Nursery cannot be repurposed for another use, even for green space, because any property previously zoned for affordable housing must either:

Maintain its current use; or Be developed into inclusionary multi-family housing once the owner chooses to sell.

Unless buyers pay fair market value and are willing to maintain the property as a nursery, Brindle said the property must be sold and developed for the purpose of affordable housing.

New Jersey resident Patrick DePaola first registered to vote in June 1927. A 50-year employee as a printer for The New York Times, he died at age 105 more than a decade ago, in December 2010.

But DePaola, who lived in Bayonne, remains listed as an “active” voter and is among 2,398 registered voters in New Jersey who appear to be 105 or older.

That’s according to a new report by the election watchdog group Public Interest Legal Foundation, which notes that the average life expectancy in New Jersey is just under 81.

But ages in the Garden State get even more unusual, the report indicates.

I’d like smaller subdivisions electing a representative.  Then that rep could cast the appropriate number of votes.  All building up to the 21 county reps voting for state wide offices.

Block, a Bitcoin-oriented financial services firm previously known as Square, just released Bitcoin: Knowledge and Perception, a report detailing a survey of 9,500 participants conducted through a partnership with Wakefield Research to address common misconceptions about bitcoin.

Throughout the questionary, some interesting insights were shared such as:

  • 88% of the respondents are aware of Bitcoin.
  • 73% of no-coiners who know a bitcoiner, are likely to buy bitcoin.
  • The percentage of people optimistic about bitcoin’s future is slightly higher for high-income individuals.
  • Asia has the highest optimism in bitcoin’s future.
  • Adoption is significantly higher on countries with high inflation.
  • 51% of the people not buying it, don’t know enough about it.

There is definitely an area of opportunity in improving education to gain further adoption.

IMHO as a gun owning pro-life pro-choice little L libertarian, bitcoin is a way to bring “financial” liberty to “We, The Sheeple”.

As soon as all the bitcoins are mined, it should be an ever increasing in value “commodity”.  The genius part is the fixed supply. Gooferment can’t “inflate” it.

I hope we see more competition with the fiat monies of the world (i.e., it is worth what I say it’s worth because I say so).

If I was a prosecutor like “Ben Stone” or “Adam Schiff” on “Law & Order”, then I’d start at the bottom.  Indict the “little people” at the bottom of the “conspiracy” and then let them “trade up” (i.e., testify against a big fish for a better deal).  I can imagine it would be like throwing chum in the water with folks elbowing in to get the first deal.

At the very least the CEO of Pfizer, Fauci, and their ilk should be on trial.

The Normandy beaches were chosen by planners because they lay within range of air cover, and were less heavily defended than the obvious objective of the Pas de Calais, the shortest distance between Great Britain and the Continent. Airborne drops at both ends of the beachheads were to protect the flanks, as well as open up roadways to the interior. Six divisions were to land on the first day; three U.S., two British and one Canadian. Two more British and one U.S. division were to follow up after the assault division had cleared the way through the beach defenses.

Disorganization, confusion, incomplete or faulty implementation of plans characterized the initial phases of the landings. This was especially true of the airborne landings which were badly scattered, as well as the first wave units landing on the assault beaches. To their great credit, most of the troops were able to adapt to the disorganization. In the end, the Allies achieved their objective.

He recovered many vital parts and equipment, including another workable radio. On the 3rd trip he was again hit, suffering machinegun bullet wounds in the legs. Still this valiant soldier would not stop for rest or medical attention. Remaining exposed to heavy enemy fire, growing steadily weaker, he aided in establishing the vital radio communication on the beach. While so engaged this dauntless soldier was hit for the third time and killed.
