FLASH: The famed statue of Joe Paterno

Sunday, July 22, 2012

The famed statue of Joe Paterno was taken down from outside the Pennsylvania State University football stadium Sunday, eliminating a key piece of the iconography surrounding the once-sainted football coach accused of burying child sex abuse allegations against a retired assistant.

Workers lifted the statue off its base and used a forklift to move it into Beaver Stadium as the 100 to 150 students watching chanted, “We are Penn State.”

WOW!

Imagine the grief that PSU is going to take on both sides of the issue.

Like the tumbling of statues of dictators?

FUN: Welcome to the Republican Party

Sunday, July 22, 2012

SPAM FROM LUDDITE

“I recently asked my neighbors’ little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be a President. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, ‘If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?’

She replied, ‘I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.’ Her parents beamed with pride.

‘Wow…what a worthy …goal.’ I…… told her, ‘But you don’t have to wait until you’re a President to do that! You can come over to my house to mow the lawn, pull weeds, trim my hedge, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.’

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, ‘Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?’

I said, ‘Welcome to the Republican Party.’

Her parents still aren’t speaking to me.”

Now we should be able to recast this a little and use the same punch line. Since the D’s and the R’s really aren’t THAT different.
