RANT: Obamacare should be rolled back

Sunday, November 16, 2014

“Stupid.”

That’s what the architect of ObamaCare called you, the American voter.

He said they wrote the law specifically to confuse voters, to conceal what the law was about.

But now ObamaCare is going to face a day of reckoning.

# – # – # – # – #

Argh! “health”, “health care”, “health care insurance”, or something else

But, I think we should thank these bozos for getting “health insurance” disconnected from “employment”.

Like “car insurance”, it should have ZERO connection to your employer.

</EXTREME RANT>

All due to the wage and price controls of WW2.

Aggravated by the Crony Capitalist tax code that allows business to deduct “health insurance expense” but employees can not!

<EXTREME RANT/>

I hope that the R’s will correct this aspect.

If I was an R, I’d be passing bills like a machine gun. Then BHO44 can veto or sign. “We, The Sheeple” can make judgments from there.

RANT: Micromanaging the Free Market by politicians and bureaucrats

This mall is running like a ghost mall
By Hank Kalet …. 8:00 AM

*** begin quote ***

My sense, as I said, is that we probably want to get ahead of the market forces that might otherwise determine the future of the mall. That doesn’t mean mandating what goes there, but looking at the zoning — signage, parking, allowable square footage — and trying to determine what will work best there. In the end, the mall may require a complete renovation — remember, Home Depot revamped the back end of the property to suit its needs. In fact, it may need a fresh start, as we are seeing with the Marketplace on Route 27.

I certainly don’t have the answers, but I would like to hear people asking the questions. So here goes: What would you like to see happen to the South Brunswick Square Mall?

*** end quote ***

While I hate the Gooferment doing anything … …

… … it would seem to be a good park and ride.

And, say a service dealer’s intake, Brad Benson? STT?

As well as, it could host a “market” like used to be on Route 18 before WalMart took over.

How about the township gives new business there a 10 tax holiday like NY State is doing?

It’s always the Gooferment causing market distortions.

Micromanaging the Free Market by politicians and bureaucrats is a giant mistake!

Argh!

Get out of the process to the greatest extent possible!

And, tell me again how the economy has recovered thanks to the FED’s zero rate interest, QE to infinity, and BHO44’s enlightened leadership?

City To Bulldoze 350 Working Class Homes To Build Fancy Stores – Thanks To Federal Funds
Written by: Daniel Jennings  Current Events
November 5, 2014

*** begin quote ***

An Indiana city is planning to use eminent domain to bulldoze a 74-year-old neighborhood to make way for a real estate development. The city of Charlestown wants to demolish 354 homes for new residential development, and it would pay for it with federal funds.

Charlestown’s city council has declared the entire neighborhood of Pleasant Ridge — where some families have owned homes for more than 40 years — “blighted.” By using that term, it can throw out the mostly working class residents and tear down their homes to make way for new retail and residential development.

“Blighted” is a loaded term.

POLITICAL: Separate Health Insurance from employment

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

On a slightly different note, while I think Obamacare is a giant FAIL on so many points, I do think that it demonstrates the need to end associating medical insurance with one’s employment.

Car Insurance should be the model. You don’t lose your car insurance if you change jobs.

Let WalMart, Credit Unions, Fraternal Organizations sell Group Medical Insurance.

Just like Life Insurance!

Did you know that the Knights of Columbus invented Life Insurance for the poor working men. And, it took off like wildfire. My maternal great grandmother, a Protestant, bought in for her brothers by claiming they were Catholic. Until Met Life came along with a better rate. (Laugh!)

Obamacare may have given us lemons, but we can make lemonade out of it.

Then on to “pension reform”.

There is no doubt that the “Peace Candidate” Wilson put the USA into the European War.

There is no doubt that the Federal Reserve allow Wilson to “pay” for WW1.

There is no doubt that the draft was involuntary servitude.

There is no doubt that the USA was an isolationist (i.e., Swiss) neutral.

There is no doubt that the Lusitania was carrying munitions in violation of Neutrality.

There is no doubt that the Armistice set the stage for Hitler and WW2.

Scholar-Athlete Charade
By Walter E. Williams

*** begin quote ***

Let’s look at the motivation for this gross academic fraud. If you said follow the money, go to the head of the class. UNC’s basketball team generates $20 million in profits for the university. Football generates $22 million. Basketball and football coaches are paid salaries in excess of $2 million. The only way a university can pay those salaries and generate that kind of revenue is to assemble a winning team. That means many universities are more interested in an athlete’s playing skills than in his academic skills. In other words, whether a student can read, write and compute means little compared with whether he can slam-dunk a basketball or make touchdowns.

China’s Gold Strategy

*** begin quote ***

Since 2002, the Chinese state has almost certainly acquired by these means a further 5,000 tonnes or more. Allowing the public to buy gold, as well as satisfying the public’s desire for owning it, also reduces the need for currency intervention to stop the renminbi rising. Therefore the Chinese state has probably accumulated between 20,000 and 30,000 tonnes since 1983, and has no need to acquire any more through market purchases given her own refineries are supplying over 500 tonnes per annum.

Maybe because they take a 1,000 year view!

I sure don’t. I remember the grandparents talking about the Great Depression.

How Hackers Reportedly Side-Stepped Google’s Two-Factor Authentication
Kelsey Campbell-Dollaghan

*** begin quote ***

Writing on Ello, Blakeman describes how hackers gained access to his Instagram account through his Gmail. Even though he had two-factor turned on, the hackers were able to reset his Instagram password through Gmail and take control of his account (which has since been restored). So how did they do it? Blakeman says that Wired’s Mat Honan, himself a veteran of an epic hack, helped him by suggesting he check with his cellphone provider.

It turns out his number had been forwarded to a different number—which is how the hackers gained access:

“The attack actually started with my cell phone provider, which somehow allowed some level of access or social engineering into my Google account, which then allowed the hackers to receive a password reset email from Instagram, giving them control of the account.”

*** end quote ***

I suspect it’s those STUPID secondary identification authenticators!

Once again, if your mother’s maiden name isn’t “R2D2GMAIL” at Google and “R2D2AMAZON” at Amazon, then you are asking to be hacked.

Sorry, but, I use LASTPASS and just keep the secondaries in the notes.

AND, I never reuse a password anywhere!

YMMV.

The Olympics: The Biggest Corporatist Sports Scam of All
By Ryan McMaken

November 1, 2014

*** begin quote ***

The 2022 Olympics (i.e., the Winter Games) is now down to only two applicant nations: China and Kazakhstan. This follows the withdrawal of Norway after the taxpayers of Norway balked on ponying up the cash necessary to make the Olympics a playground for the world’s richest cronies and politicians.

Theoretically, the Olympics are a private organization, but in practice, it is a corporatist organization run by plutocrats whose mission in life is apparently to squeeze as much tax revenue as possible out of the residents of the countries and cities that host the Olympics. This is done by demanding the usual brand-spanking new stadiums and facilities from the host cities that later become white elephants. But the IOC also demands countless perks for itself, such as only the finest food and drink, and special driving lanes on streets and highways. (See photos of the abandoned Olympics facilities in Athens.)

Talk about malinvestment, the “Olympics” takes the cake.

But “We, The Sheeple” still buy into it.

POLITICAL: “Liberal” ideas to restrict “democracy”

Wednesday, November 5, 2014

WHEN DEMOCRATS LOSE ELECTIONS THE MEDIA PUSH TO ANNIHILATE THE CONSTITUTION
John Nolte on Twitter @NolteNC

*** begin quote ***

The people behind Vox.com and the New York Times are not dumb. They understand perfectly that the framers of our Constitution knew what they were doing, which was putting in place a system to actively encourage gridlock and to discourage exactly what it is the elite media want: less democracy and more power in the hands of a central government, the president, and America’s elite (like the media).
This 4 year proposal would also greatly diminish the power of the states. Elections would be driven more by national concerns than local ones. Sorry Democrats, but it is vitally important to the health of our democracy that local politics have a profound effect on national policy.

*** end quote ***

I have some ideas to propose:

* No one can stand for election without having sat out a year from any political office. (It works for the poor college athlete who transfers scruples; why not for politicains?)

* Repeal the Seventeenth and return power to the States.

* Federal elections on even years; state elections on odd years.

* Election Day is April 16th!

* Eliminate elections. If all politics are local, I should elect my “block captain”. Then everything cascades upwards.

* Campaigns are responsible for ALL advertisements. And, only contributions from real people to be represented can be accepted. (If you’re running for a Nevada seat, you can only take contributions from real Nevadans.)

* Any campaign contribution “left over” is returned to the taxpayers’ of the district. (Or used to reduce the National Debt?)

* Term limits seems obvious!

* All party affiliations MUST be declare in ANY advertisement.

* If you do have corporate sponsors, then you must wear their logo at all times like NASCAR.

* All Incumbents are listed on the ballot in RED with an ASTERIX as the BOTTOM choice.

* All races have run offs unless the winner gets ¾ of the registered voters.

* NOTA (None of the above) is a negative vote for ALL candidates.

* A weighted ranking voting system (aka instant run off system) should be implemented — rank your choices from top to bottom and there’s never a “wasted vote”.

* ALSO voter id goes without saying — if India, Afghanistan, and other “Third World Countries” can do, then why can’t we?

And that’s just for starters!

POLITICAL: Voting is a sham!

Tuesday, November 4, 2014

http://www.lewrockwell.com/2014/11/robert-willmann-jr/how-to-rig-elections-easily/

The Trump Card to Rig Elections
By Robert Willmann, Jr.
November 4, 2014

*** begin quote ***

The foundation for assuring the integrity of any system is auditing and cross-checking. For electronic voting machines, what about audits and recounts? The U.S. Congress put this in Title Three of HAVA, with its warm and reassuring caption, “Uniform and Nondiscriminatory Election Technology and Administration Requirements” –

“[Section 301(a)(2)]. Audit Capacity.

(A) In General. The voting system shall produce a record with an audit capacity for such system.

(B) Manual Audit Capacity.

(i) The voting system shall produce a permanent paper record with a manual audit capacity for such system.

(ii) The voting system shall provide the voter with an opportunity to change the ballot or correct any error before the permanent paper record is produced.

(iii) The paper record produced under subparagraph (A) shall be available as an official record for any recount conducted with respect to any election in which the system is used.” [1]

Read that carefully several times. A decent, trusting American might think that a paper ballot with the voter’s selections will be printed out, the voter will check it to be sure it matches what was selected on the electronic voting machine, and each ballot printed out will be kept by the election department so that a hand recount can be done to check the electronic results. But does it say that?

Notice the cunning wording. The “audit capacity” is for “such system” and not for each individual voter’s ballot. The paper record is for the whole system, meaning the vote totals as created by the electronic voting machines and tabulating computers. You get a printout of the computer’s totals. You do not get a printout of each ballot verified by each voter, to be saved locally for a real recount.

*** and ***

But hoping to use one of their two independent powers, people turning to the ballot box face the ultimate trump card.  Electronic voting machines.

Voters no longer mark their ballots.  Local election officials no longer count them.  Devices created and programmed in secret do it.  No recount is possible. Any fraud is undetectable.

*** end quote ***

Two quotes to remember about voting and elections:

“If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.” ― Mark Twain

“Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.” — attributed to communist tyrant and mass murderer Josef Stalin

And, you expect me to “trust” the system!

Never mind that the “system” is structurally engineered to ensure that you only get to chose between large Gooferment and still larger Gooferment.

(Ross Perot was a democratic operative running to split the republican vote (again).  He was campaigning on smaller Gooferment. He was on the verge of winning. He was being so competitive that he had to self-destruct the campaign to ensure the correct result. IMMEDIATELY, the two parties agreed to “reforms” that would prevent any challenge to the duopoly.

Even now, my beloved Libertarian Party, it financed by the D’s to split the R vote. As is the Green Party, which I regard as the Communist Party in disguise, is financed by the R’s to split the D vote.

Argh!

Secession.

And a return to a truly representative republic.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Elected Gooferment politicians = no pensions

Government Gold-Plating
By STEVE H. HANKE

*** begin quote ***

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) released his annual Wastebook this past week. It contains a laundry list of doozies. The U.S. government’s gold-plating operations included $190,000 to study compost digested by worms, $297 million for the purchase of an unused mega blimp, and $1 million on a Virginia bus stop where only 15 people can huddle under a half-baked roof. These questionable (read: absurd) expenditures only represent the tip of the iceberg.

Just consider the following: the Speaker of the House currently receives an annual salary of $223,500, and will receive a payment of roughly that amount, depending on the years of service, for life. An annual payment of this magnitude amounts to about five times the average annual wage in the United States. But that’s not all. For those who have had different positions in Congress, their retirements can be augmented. For example, Nancy Pelosi will not receive $223,500 for life, but roughly double that. Why? Because she is a member of Congress, currently the House of Representatives’ Minority Leader, and a retired Speaker of the House. For purposes of computing retirement pay, Congress adds and accumulates. They do not net.

Obama’s Border Policy Fueled Epidemic, Evidence Shows

*** begin quote ***

The deadly EV-D68 enterovirus epidemic, which struck thousands of kids this fall, was likely propelled through America by President Barack Obama’s decision to allow tens of thousands of Central Americans across the Texas border, according to a growing body of genetic and statistical evidence.

The evidence includes admissions from top health officials that the epidemic included multiple strains of the virus, and that it appeared simultaneously in multiple independent locations.

The question can be settled if federal researchers study the genetic fingerprint of the EV-D68 viruses that first hit kids in Colorado, Missouri and Illinois to see if they are close relatives to the EV-D68 viruses found in Central America.

We do not yet know the full scope and scale of such operations, which some argue is substantially larger than 1,000 ex-Nazis, as elements of it still remain classified:

In all, the American military, the C.I.A., the F.B.I. and other agencies used at least 1,000 ex-Nazis and collaborators as spies and informants after the war, according to Richard Breitman, a Holocaust scholar at American University who was on a government-appointed team that declassified war-crime records.

The full tally of Nazis-turned-spies is probably much higher, said Norman Goda, a University of Florida historian on the declassification team, but many records remain classified even today, making a complete count impossible.

in prison. “There is no parole in the federal system,” the
Judge warned him from the bench. “Any sentence you get
will not be shortened by parole.” As a felon, he is not legally
allowed to buy a firearm. How he got the weapons is
unclear.

POLITICAL: End “foreign aid” now; completely! And not just Africa.

Africa: A Tragic Continent
By Walter E. Williams

Though there’s a strong case for us to help with the Ebola crisis, the worst thing Westerners could do to Africa would be to send more foreign aid. Foreign aid provides the financial resources that enable Africa’s grossly corrupt and incompetent regimes to buy military equipment, pay off cronies and continue to oppress their people. It also provides resources for the leaders to live lavishly and set up “retirement” accounts in foreign banks.

Anyone notice that the USA is broke?

So why should “We, The Sheeple” support borrowing money from China to send it to the Swiss bank accounts of Third World “leaders”?

Suggest that we PNG (“Personna Non Grata”) politicians and bureaucrats from these countries.

Let them stew in their own juice.

FUN: TOP 10 REASONS TO VOTE DEMOCRAT

Thursday, October 30, 2014

FROM AN EMAIL FROM LUDDITE

TOP 10 REASONS TO VOTE DEMOCRAT

#10. I vote Democrat
because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my German Shepherd.

#9. I vote Democrat
because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon at 15% isn’t.

#8. I vote Democrat
because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

#7. I vote Democrat
because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

#6. I vote Democrat
because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. I am also thankful that we have a 911 service that gets police to your home in order to identify your body after a home invasion.

#5. I vote Democrat
because I’m not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive and comfy.

#4. I vote Democrat
because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away Social Security from those who paid into it.

#3. I vote Democrat because I
believe that businesses should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even
and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrat Party sees fit.

#2. I vote Democrat
because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

… And, the #1 reason I vote Democrat is
because I think it’s better to pay $billions$ for oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher, or fish here in America. We don’t care about the beetles, gophers, or fish in those other countries.

I have no info on the accuracy or attribution of the supposed Einstein quote. The other 10 points seem spot on to me.

Not that I have any great love for the R’s who are merely in most cases just Democratic lite.

ECONOMICS: The Federal Reserve is Financial Repression

How The Federal Reserve Is Purposely Attacking Savers
But bungling badly as it does
by Chris Martenson

*** begin quote ***

he answer is that while inflation always steals from savers, it really does its dirty work when the central bank and government conspire to create a condition of pervasive and unavoidable negative real interest rates.

This is the heart of Financial Repression: an environment in which you literally cannot save money without paying a penalty.

The main takeaway of Chapter 18 on Fuzzy Numbers is not that the government fibs a little now and then (okay, all the time) merely because that’s politically expedient, but it does so in service to a larger and more pernicious aim: forcing people to accept an inflation rate that is higher than either their income growth and/or the market’s safe rate of return.

As soon as you are locked into a negative interest rate regime, your capital is losing purchasing power. But simple accounting rules dictate that loss of wealth had to go somewhere. So where did it go? To somebody else.

Negative real interest rates transfer money from every saver to every over-extended borrower. This is especially true with the government (largely because of its special revolving door relationship with the Fed, which both issues the money out of thin air and then buys government debt forcing rates into negative territory).

It’s really that simple. The Fed has openly and actively suppressed rates — not to help the credit markets, as they claim, but to engineer a condition of Financial Repression. Because that’s what the government needs to stealthily take your wealth to pay down the prior debts it accumulated.

The War on Savers, the War on Capital, and the War on the Poor, Middle Class, and Elderly all intersect with the Federal Reserve.

Zero Interest Rate DESTROYS these communities.

Think about it from an Eccky-or-Icky-nomics POV.

It’s saying that there is NO preference to delay consumption.

It’s also saying there is NO way to preserve wealth for later use in retirement.

Argh!

* Savers are “rewarded” with inflation that depreciates their purchasing power.

* Capital can’t be formed with paying the inflation penalty.

* Since the poor have to spend most, if not all, of their current income, they face the inflation that erodes their future standard of living.

* Middle Class “wealthy” can’t preserve their financial assets into retirement. Why do the near fraudsters / hucksters, who advertise gold collectibles for IRAs, strike a chord with the future retirees? It’s their only chance to preserve their buying power.

* The Elderly on pensions, social “in”security, or savings are screwed by inflation increasing their costs and their capital earns nothing.

So, why do “We, The Sheeple” put up with it?

Bread and circuses!

Argh!
