INSPIRATIONAL: Mother Teresa, the voiceless unborn child was truly the “poorest of the poor”

Why the Left Hates Mother Teresa of Calcutta
by THOMAS D. WILLIAMS, PH.D.
03 Sep 20162

*** begin quote ***

As the world awaits Mother Teresa’s canonization Sunday, one mystery remains: why the international Left still harbors such hatred for a diminutive religious sister who spent her entire life serving the poorest of the poor.

After all, with her inexhaustible dedication to alleviating poverty and assisting the needy, Mother Teresa should be an icon of liberals the world over. Instead, we find that the Left showers her not with affection and praise, but with scorn and disdain.

*** and ***

For Mother Teresa, the voiceless unborn child was truly the “poorest of the poor,” who deserves our undying respect and protection.

In her acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, for instance, she dared to say, “I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a direct war, a direct killing – direct murder by the mother herself.”

At the National Prayer Breakfast in 1994, the politically incorrect sister told then-President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary that abortion is a “war against the child.”

“And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” the nun continued.

*** and ***

“I see Jesus in every human being,” she said. “I say to myself, this is hungry Jesus, I must feed him. This is sick Jesus. This one has leprosy or gangrene; I must wash him and tend to him. I serve because I love Jesus.”

Despite her spiritual motivations, however, Mother Teresa was an avowed enemy of proselytism in her work with the poor. She offered love and assistance to all, without ever making conversion a condition or even an aim of her care.

“We never try to convert those whom we receive to Christianity,” she said, “but in our work we bear witness to the love of God’s presence, and if Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, or agnostics become for this better men—simply better—we will be satisfied.”

*** end quote ***

As a little L libertarian, the “issue” of abortion is probably the hardest to deal with.

From a survival of the species, abortion is the suicide of the species. I can’t think of a bigger signal flashing “danger will rogers” to us all. How can we plow through that big STOP sign. Look at Japan and Europe that are not replacing their populations.

From a moral perspective, if there is a right to life, then how can we ignore these babies in the womb.

Of course, it’s not just enough to wring one’s hand about abortion and forget about children the minute they are born into terrible poverty. Unfortunately, the current system stinks.

Hopefully, we can all have a little Mother Teresa in our daily lives.

JOBSEARCH: Jobsearchers have yet another hurdle to overcome

The long read
How algorithms rule our working lives
Employers are turning to mathematically modelled ways of sifting through job applications. Even when wrong, their verdicts seem beyond dispute – and they tend to punish the poor
by Cathy O’Neil

*** begin quote ***

Will those insights be tested, or simply used to justify the status quo and reinforce prejudices? When I consider the sloppy and self-serving ways that companies often use data, I’m reminded of phrenology, a pseudoscience that was briefly popular in the 19th century. Phrenologists would run their fingers over the patient’s skull, probing for bumps and indentations. Each one, they thought, was linked to personality traits. If a patient was morbidly anxious or suffering from alcoholism, the skull probe would usually find bumps and dips that correlated with that observation – which, in turn, bolstered faith in the science of phrenology.

*** end quote ***

Obviously, the job search process must be “gamed”.

Each “candidate” must figure out the “game” and present the “image” needed to get and stay hired.

Throw out old memes and paradigms. It’s just a jungle out there. Survival of the fitest is survival of the most adaptable.

Like that book title, fast – lean – smart beats slow – fat – stupid every time.

That’s a felony.

They should be indicted and, if found guilty, send to the Federal country club prison. Martha did a lot less!

At the very least, since Mills and Kendall are lawyers, they should be brought before the bar for censure or disbarment. (WJC was.)

Obama to Erdogan: US Will Help Find Coup Plotters
In First Post-Coup Meeting, Obama Says Coup ‘Terrible’
by Jason Ditz, September 04, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Presidents Barack Obama and Recep Tayyip Erdogan met face-to-face today for the first time since the failed July coup in Turkey, providing for a somewhat awkward side-story to the G20 summit in China. Obama sought to reassure Erdogan of his support, and committed to help bring those involved in the coup to justice.

This has been an enormously touchy subject between the US and Turkey, with Erdogan seeking the extradition of a high-profile cleric from the United States, who he has accused of masterminding the coup. Expressing outrage at US reticence, Erdogan and other Turkish officials have suggested that the US was involved in the coup.

*** end quote ***

You’d think, at the end of his term, he just keep the “ship of state” steady for the next “captain”?

In any event, it’s not the USA’s President to “help” a foreign nation.

And, there certainly enough chatter that it was Erdogan’s “false flag” operation to discredit his opponents and ensure his position.

Also, he’s been taking Turkey away from its secular past and to the Islamic fundamentalists.

So, BHO should be like the Swiss and MYOB!

The “Secret Sauce” of the Byzantine Empire: Stable Currency, Social Mobility
September 1, 2016
How did Byzantium endure for 1,000 years after the fall of Rome?

*** begin quote ***

A stable currency. When the Empire devalued its currency for the first time in the 13th century, it triggered a long-lasting loss of faith in the currency. This devaluation was the beginning of the end, as the Empire never recovered its financial footing.

*** end quote ***

Well, the USA certainly missed the boat on this one. The US$ has lost 99% of its value in the last 40 years.

How do we turn that about?

It’s easy. END THE FED!

The Federal Reserve Bank is a misnomer. IT ain’t “federal”. It reserves nothing. And, it ain’t a “bank”. It is a private cartel of the elite banks run for their benefit and that of the entrenched politicians.

Tie the value of the dollar directly to gold and silver as the Dead Old White Guys had in the Constitution. (They knew the ravages of “paper money” inflated by bankrupt Gooferments.

Will we?

I doubt it.

But Aguilar would not let the facts rest. He brought it up again the next chance he had, and argued that it was a double standard that Clinton’s willful associations were not being scrutinized the way Trump’s were. “You’re mentioning a dead person for many decades,” Reid spat in frustration while trying to move away from Aguilar. As he started to talk about Planned Parenthood Reid tried to shut him up, exclaiming, “Planned Parenthood is not a eugenicist organization!” Reid followed up by claiming that Aguilar was somehow being “incredibly offensive.”

Shouting that a guest is being offensive to her seems to be a defense mechanism designed to keep facts that are damaging to liberals a secret. She did the same thing almost a month prior when she shouted down a guest for “inventing” the fact that there are roughly 33,000 missing e-mails from Clinton’s private server. She shouted the guest down saying, “You cannot say things — You’re putting out incredibly inflammatory information.”

HEALTH: Colon Cancer — get your colonoscopy. NOW!

Solving a Colon Cancer Mystery
By: Dr. Michael Greger
August 26, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States after lung cancer. The rates of lung cancer around the world vary by a factor of 10. If there was nothing we could do to prevent lung cancer—if it just happened at random—we’d assume that the rates everywhere would be about the same. But since there’s such a huge variation in rates, it seems like there’s probably some external cause. Indeed, we now know smoking is responsible for 90 percent of lung cancer cases. If we don’t want to die of the number-one cancer killer, we can throw 90 percent of our risk out the window just by not smoking.

There’s an even bigger variation around the world for colon cancer. It appears colon cancer doesn’t just happen—something makes it happen. If our lungs can get filled with carcinogens from smoke, maybe our colons are getting filled with carcinogens from food. Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Limpopo sought to answer the question, “Why do African Americans get more colon cancer than native Africans?” Because colon cancer is extremely rare in native African populations, more than 50 times lower than rates of Americans, white or black.

*** end quote ***

My maternal grandmother died of colon cancer … painfully. My Mom had a near miss that required some surgical brilliance that gave her another 10 years of a pretty good life. I’ve recently had yet another colonoscopy that revealed some suspect tissue that has to come out. AND, I am following up aggressively.

Since it’s a “silent killer” that has no external symptoms until it’s too late, you have to be the Captain of your health are team.

Yes, it is — without a doubt — the most disgusting test to prep for. I do mine without anesthesia by personal preference. (I like to limit the things that can go wrong.) It’s no more painful than a case of constipation!

AND eat your veggies.

GUNS: The medals in six consecutive Olympic Games were an “inconvenient truth”?

Muzzled!
By Joe Bob Briggs Taki’s Magazine
August 27, 2016

*** begin quote ***

SAN GABRIEL, Calif.—Only two athletes in history have won medals in six consecutive Olympic Games.

Only two.

Let me put this in perspective. There are about 13,000 Olympians, both summer, and winter, during each four-year cycle. Since 1896, when the modern Games began, there have been 184,869 Olympians. So we’re talking about something that happens .001 percent of the time, which is just one click above…never.

*** and ***

The other six-in-six Olympian is a woman from Southern California. She should have been asked to carry the flag at the closing ceremonies in Rio. I have nothing but respect for Simone Biles and her five medals in gymnastics, but this sixth medal in six Olympic Games was not only a once-in-a-century achievement, it was also accomplished by a 37-year-old woman who was fighting injuries, who was struggling against decades of sexism in her sport’s Olympic organization, who has to train by herself while raising a 3-year-old son, and who had to learn a whole new sport halfway through her medal run because the Olympics decided only men could compete in her preferred event.

*** end quote ***

The liberal media is so biased AGAINST guns that they have perverted their value to humanity.

“God made men and women; Sam colt made them equal.” — Unknown

We’re the weakest, hairless, and in some ways the stupidest animal in the food chain.

And, guns make us safe from the predators — both four legged and two legged.

(Some of the two legged ones are politicians and bureaucrats who kill us.)

So how do we change the current “thinking” — or lack there of — on self-defense and the RKBA?

The Martyrdom of Mary Surratt
By Jack Perry
August 27, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Look here, Mary Surratt was sentenced to death with no appeal possible. Her lawyer managed to obtain a writ to stay her execution and give her a retrial in a civilian court. But—get this—the President of the United States overruled the writ and sent Mary to the gallows. Seems they were in rather a hurry to murder the woman so they wouldn’t appear to have made a mistake. Or, perhaps, to justify themselves as absolute authority. Mary was executed to make sure the government was not embarrassed. People say, “Hey, we were at war! The president had been assassinated! People were scared!” And so that is an acceptable reason to murder an innocent woman? That’s a good reason to refuse the honor the Constitution that supposedly was the highest law of the land? People will say, “Well, that was the past! We’ve learned from that mistake!” Have we?

*** end quote ***

So, BHO is just following in a long line of killers.

I didn’t know that this poor woman was “railroaded”.

Somehow this small “factoid” wasn’t in the history books.

RANT: Social Security Disability is a joke

Monday, August 29, 2016

Here’s a personal rant.

From PERSONAL experience.

Social Security Disability pays a maximum of a little over 1k$ with a five month “waiting period”.

She earned about 4k$ and paid Soc Sec’s taxes on that.

So, if it was a real “insurance  company”, then that “policy” would have been terrible.

A true disability policy would replace the lost earnings.

The victim in the morality play is screwed.

And, everyone should NOT depend upon it for anything but “chump change”.

So what does that mean….well, 60 boxes of doughnuts were discarded this morning becuase the delivery vendor was not in contract, hot meals were refused becuase the entity providing wasn’t contracted, and medical supplies including medications were trashed for same reason. Clothes that were “donated” needed to be left on the street unless they were “furnished” by Red Cross. As of tomorrow, the shelter we were at will be completely over taken by the Red Cross other than the medical area because they couldnt have the actual room since LSU has a contract with state to provide medical care. Its sad when the military police were helping to “protect” the medical areas from the red cross when there are so many other issues at hand. Anyway, next time to want to donate or volunteer your services, do your homework.”

The disgraceful 461% increase in the price of this vital medication is a symptom of a system where corporate greed takes precedence over public health

*** and ***

This month, pharmaceutical company, Mylan, crowed that they smashed second-quarter expectations; with earnings of $2.56bn, up 8% from the year before. Their CEO’s salary has ballooned 671% over the past eight years. The corporation was able to accomplish this in part, because they are the maker of a medical device called the EpiPen, which delivers a life-saving drug to stop an anaphylactic allergy attack. The company has raised the price of this medication 461% since 2007. Mylan’s latest announcement – that it would offer various new pricing concessions to families on lower incomes and those who have to pay out of pocket, cannot alter this stark fact.

*** end quote ***

Now before we take the “capitalist pigs” out and lynch them, can we make some inquiries?

1. Is this the only epi pen on the market?

2. Is it patented? If so, how many years left?

3. How is the FDA involved in this process? How much did / does Mylan spend on regulatory compliance?

4. Has there been any “political” involvement?

5. Does a corporation have to “justify” it’s prices? (In a truly free market, the “invisible hand” would prompt supply from competitors very quickly!)

I’d like answers before “we” “hang” them!

By now just about everyone has heard of the zika virus, transmitted by mosquitos, which is said to cause brain damage in children.  As worrisome as this is, an even bigger brain damage threat to young people is what I call the academic zika virus, transmitted by left-wing, politically-correct “educators.”  There are exceptions, but undergraduate education in America has become one big socialist indoctrination academy that fills students’ heads with cultural Marxist myths, superstitions, and falsehoods while inculcating an infantile culture that teaches students to run crying to “safe rooms” if a dissenting voice should somehow appear on campus.  All of this can be yours for a mere 50 grand a year at many universities.

SOCIALISM IN REAL TIME: Venezuela’s Economic Turmoil Has Brought Malaria Back

*** begin quote ***

With Venezuela’s economy in tatters, at least 70,000 people from all walks of life have been streaming into a mining region to hunt for gold in watery pits. It is a perfect breeding ground for the mosquitoes that spread malaria.

Then, with the disease in their blood, the miners return home to cities where there is often no medicine and little fumigation, and they have passed the disease on to tens of thousands more people and left entire towns desperate for help.

Venezuela was the first nation in the world to be certified by the World Health Organization for eradicating malaria in its most populated areas, beating the United States and other developed countries to that milestone in 1961.

DEA’s Hypocritical Marijuana Decision Ignores The Evidence

Relying on the fear tactics and uninformed attitudes of a century ago, the DEA—reportedly leaning heavily on the FDA’s conclusions about cannabis—has rejected a 5-year-old petition to reclassify the drug from Schedule I, which lists drugs like heroin, to Schedule II, which includes oxycodone.

Whether or not the decision helps or harms patients in the long run remains unclear, but it certainly reflects a dangerous and hypocritical throwback attitude about cannabis that will only add to distrust of governmental oversight agencies, making their decisions look like political or moral judgments rather than being evidence based.

For all Trump’s flaws — not the least of which is that he’s a Northeastern Rockefeller republican who might actually be a Democratic operative, at least he doesn’t seem to want to start yet another war.

Amazing all the chicken hawks that we have in the “District of Corruption”!

Those “goat herders with Aks” have a pretty good track record of draining the blood and treasure of Empires for decades.

Argh!

Not in my opinion, I know several folks who have been snagged.

And as a little L libertarian, unless you cause damage or injury, many of these “arrests / convictions” are about raising revenue; not protecting the public.

Tech Companies Apple, Twitter, Google, and Instagram Collude to Defeat Trump
There is no such thing as Pro-Trump free speech as Clinton corporate allies serve up a carefully curated view of the campaign

Apple isn’t the only corporation doing Clinton’s bidding. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange said Clinton made a deal with Google and that the tech giant is “directly engaged” in her campaign. It’s been widely reported Clinton hired Eric Schmidt—chairman of Alphabet, the parent company of Google—to set up a tech company called The Groundwork. Assange claims this was to ensure Clinton had the “engineering talent to win the election.” He also pointed out that many members of Clinton’s staff have worked for Google, and some of her former employees now work at Google.

For shame, Google, for shame!

I hope people remember this and “do no evil”.

Argh!

Indeed. Any constitutional scholars out there who have a different point of view?

I am NOT  “constitutional scholar”; nor do I play one on TV.

That being said … … …

Unfortunately, the ATF makes the diktats that take guns away. There was a Constitutional Amendment to have alcohol prohibition. BUT NONE was required to have drug prohibition. Why should guns be any different than drugs?

The only defense is for juries to nullify on non-violent drug and gun cases. That’s what ended alcohol prohibition.

Clinton’s top aide Huma CLEARED of ethics breaches – despite emails revealing how she took orders to open its doors to Foundation donors

  • Rudolph Giuliani said the emails should form the basis of a RICO investigation – the same legislation he used against the Mafia

In 2010, it was discovered that Chagoury had been added to the U.S. No-Fly terror list and barred from boarding a private jet in New Jersey. He was able to obtain a ‘waiver’ to fly, and was later removed from the list and received a written apology from the U.S. government.

Chagoury pledged $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative in 2009 and has contributed between $1 million and $5 million to the Clinton Foundation.

How can this be possible?

Why isn’t everyone up in arms about this fraud?

It’s outrageous!
