More than 13 years after the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, Terry’s family is still seeking justice, and the U.S.-Mexico border remains in crisis.

Late Friday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the conviction and life sentence of a man found guilty of killing Brian Terry in 2010. Terry’s death exposed a botched federal gun operation known as “Fast and Furious,” and brought into focus the national border crisis. 

Brian Terry’s uncle Ralph Terry said, “In more than a decade so little has changed. Our fight to seek justice for Brian is ongoing, at the same time our border security has worsened. This toxic combination led to the death of my nephew and sadly lessons have not been learned. As our current political leaders have turn a blind eye to the situation, they have empowered smugglers and drug cartels more than ever.”

The court in vacating the convictions of Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes August 9th, claimed his constitutional due process rights had been violated, sending the case back to the U.S. District Court in Arizona

Good headline but text “Russian missile barrage” was bad. Could it have been a false flag? Remember Ukraine shot a missile into Poland and blamed Russia. The timing is too convenient and the Russians have been extremely careful about what they hit and very circumspect about firing back.

I’d say the facts are not yet fully known to assign blame.

Missiles Strike Ukraine

At least 36 civilians were killed and more than 100 wounded across Ukraine after a Russian missile barrage hit multiple targets yesterday, including the country’s largest children’s hospital in the capital of Kyiv. The daytime attack is considered the heaviest single-day bombardment in the last four months of the Russia-Ukraine war, which is now in its 29th month (see updates). 

Ukraine’s air defenses shot down 30 of the 38 missiles, with officials saying the weapons consisted of aerial, ballistic, and cruise missiles (see the difference). At least 50 civilian buildings were damaged across central and eastern Ukraine by Russia’s airstrikes. The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting today to address the strikes.

Russia’s latest attack comes as Western leaders will meet in Washington, DC, today to kick off a three-day NATO summit. The agenda includes discussions over Ukraine’s potential membership in the military alliance and a new support package.

This is a ten on both the hypocrisy and propaganda scales. Check it for yourself. Do an internet search on the following — “Ukraine strikes Sevastopol.” Only cursory coverage. No blaring headlines in the NY Times or Financial Times or any other major paper. Ignore it. But this? Intense coverage.

Only one problem with the story — it is BULLSHIT. The children’s hospital was hit by an errant air defense missile fired by Ukraine. Whoops! What is really telling is that there was ZERO news coverage of the other sites hit by Russian missiles in Kiev. You know why? Because they were military targets and there were probably Western casualties. Russia delivered this blow in daylight during working hours in order to inflict maximum casualties on those engaged in producing or repairing weapons.

Ukrainian authorities also lied about the number of Russian missiles shot down. The Ukie Air Force claimed it downed 30 of 38 Russian missiles. Check out the following videos. You can see at least five successful Russian missile strikes in Kiev, including some secondary explosions, which normally are associated with a weapons storage facility. This is far from uncommon.  In this day of technology, we were better off when the airlines did manual seat assignment with peel off stickers.  Yes, I am that old.  When you should up to the gate, you got your sticker assigning the seat.  When they ran out of stickers, you were out of luck.  Never heard of any problems.

  •     58,209 resided in an apartment or in a mobile home lot but had no unit number as required on their voter registration application to ensure proper delivery of mail, including mail-in ballot material.
  •     4,143 were older than the oldest person in the U.S. at the time or were too young to legally register.
  •     6,348 had a date of birth that was different in 2022 than it was in 2020.
  •     253,486 voters supposedly registered on January 1st, 84,221 voters registered on another Federal holiday and 201,693 voters registered on Sunday — all times when Ohio boards of elections and state offices are closed.
  •     120,094 had registration dates in the 2022 state voter file that were earlier than their registration date in the 2020 file. 59,025 people were listed as registering to vote before they were born.
  •     243,583 had state identification numbers that had changed since 2020, even though federal laws require each voter be issued “a unique state identifier.” 34,233 had 2 to 5 registration records with different state identification numbers, making it possible for them to vote more than once.

This was a clear example of: black on white MURDER; black gangs in the school; and media bias.

While I’m not sure I want hangings, clearly this requires punishment to communicate that it’s not tolerated.

All 15 should be treated as adults.  With long prison time.

And, this can’t be an isolated incident.  The school must be shutdown and the staff dismissed.

I hate to play can you top this. But the hospital where my wife died, billed her two years after her death for 1.5M$. My usual lawyer was conflicted out because his firm had a partnet who represented the hospital. Because of the amount involved, I wasn’t comfortable fighting on my own. The hospital reported it to the credit agencies and my credit took a nose dive. My new lawyer requested all the bills which was about 9 inches tall. Then he asked the insurance company for their records and contract with the hospital. Turns out that the hospital failed to submit the bills to the insurance company within the one year time frame specified in the contract, The final letter from my lawyer to the hospital’s lawyer cited that, and that the estate had be completely and legally closed. (A step ignored most DIY executors! Not me, I’ve done enough for my family that I should have gone to law school.), and that they had no right to disparage my credit. If the matter was not resolved, he would be filing a big lawsuit. Needless to day, the hospital’s lawyer quickly responded: “We have reviewed the case file and it’s the interest of all the parties to deem the matter resolved.” (That annoyed me even more.) My lawyer filed that letter with the Surrogate as a settlement of “an objection to a closed estate” and included the hospital’s insurance contract so that it was available for any potential litigant to see. (Providing a roadmap for other lawyers.) It cost me about 2k$ for his fees, which I got to deduct from my income tax since I had to declare the executor’s commission as income. A slight pleasure from my victory.  

There’s a proverb I’ve heard that if you hate a relative, make them your executor since estates bring out the worst in everyone. Argh! I have other estate stories but they are not as on point as this one. If you’re an executor, you can hire an attorney to advise you for a few hundred dollars. In my county the Surrogate has an easy-to-read booklet that tells you the steps to open and close an estate and why each step is necessary. And, I’ve found that the Surrogate’s staff (all gray hair old ladies who have been there for decades) are extra helpful. They also have the Bar Association list of estate lawyers — with note who will advise and who will only become an executor.

YMMV but be prepared to have some struggles. The only estates that don’t have struggles and problems are those of people who die broke.

The removal, by a closed-door vote, comes after Jordan (R, OH-4) failed to secure the gavel in the third round of voting Friday. He received 194 votes, down from 199 in the second ballot and 200 from the first. All House Democrats continued to back House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D, NY-8). House Republicans will restart the speaker nominee process Monday.

Ranked Choice Voting would have settled this impasse on the first ballot.

It really should be the way ALL voting is conducted.

However, we may find that “NONE OF THE ABOVE” is always the winner.

Absolutely, NATO is a vestige of the Cold War and needs to be dissolved.  It allows Europe to palm off self-defense costs to the USA.  BTW the USA is broke.  And, needlessly provides billets for high ranking USA military who should be declared surplus.
