From the Associated Press:

The Miami Heat star posted a video of him saying he was following ”a police escort on the wrong side of the street” to get to the concert at Sun Life Stadium. The eight-second video shows James’ vehicle behind others with police lights flashing, as oncoming traffic on the three-lane side of the road allowed them to pass.

It was unclear what law enforcement agency was providing the escort, which appeared to be taking place in the vicinity of the stadium. Traffic around much of the area was clogged because of the concert.

RANT: AROD’s “death sentence”

Monday, August 5, 2013

Sorry, but I think AROD is getting the short end of the stick.

Where has MLB been for the last eon?

It’s not like this is something new. So why NOW?

It’s always about money. So I guess that there is a financial incentive to screw him.

If the Yankees were in first place, I doubt we’d hear a chrip.

And, from his age pov, he’ll be over 40 when he can play again.

It’s rumored to be 100M$ at risk! FOr that amount, it’s easy to see how this becomes a MLB priority.

Sorry, while i can’t stand a cheat, drug diktats make no sense to me. If he wants to trade health for dollars, why should we care.

RANT: ObamaCare “death panels”

HANNITY: HOWARD DEAN ADMITTED PALIN WAS RIGHT ABOUT DEATH PANELS

*** begin quote ***

FOX NEWS INSIDER – There is more proof that the ObamaCare “death panels” are alive and well. The former head of the Democratic Party, who also happens to be a medical doctor, is sounding the alarm. In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, Howard Dean calls out a “major problem” with the health care law, known as the Independent Payment Advisory Board. Sarah Palin, who warned against death panels in 2010, reacted on Tuesday night’s Hannity.

Sean Hannity broke down why this is important. First, a high-profile Democrat and one-time medical doctor is admitting that this board is a “health care rationing body.” Second, he pointed out that Dean is acknowledging that IPAB has the authority to “stop certain treatments.”

Finally, Hannity said it serves as another frightening reminder that the American people were misled by the president and other Democrats, including Dean, about ObamaCare. President Obama stated in 2009, “Every credible person who has looked into it has said there are no so-called death panels – an offensive notion to me and to the American people. These are phony claims meant to divide us.”

*** end quote ***

Of course, when “rationing”, there’s a financial incentive to “thin the heard”. Stop paying Medicare, Social Security, and collect the various “death taxes”.

Wake up, Sheeple!

RANT: Bloggers are “journalists” in terms of the First Amendement

Saturday, July 27, 2013

SurvivalBlog.com by Jim Rawles
Odds ‘n Sods:

*** begin quote ***

Congress and the Justice Dept’s Dangerous Attempts to Define “Journalist” Threaten to Exclude Bloggers. JWR’s Comment: Considering that many blogs have readerships of 100,000 or more, while many magazines and newspapers only have 50,000 subscribers, it is ludicrous to deem the former “legitimate”, whilst excluding the latter. In a free and modern society, the very concept of “press credentials” is anachronistic and smacks of elitism, favoritism, and cronyism. For our public servants to only grant a few the “privilege” to access to attend public meetings, to observe public court trials, and to sit in the gallery of legislative chambers is haughty and supercilious. And we’ve already seen the peril of declaring it a privilege to take photos on public streets. To allow some to do so, but not others implies that the public at large is somehow de classe and that we are mere contemptuous rabble. (OBTW, as I’ve mentioned before, the level of contempt by police officers has risen to the point that there have been some cases when credentials don’t help, even if you are from a television news station.)

Just look at what the Free Staters in New Hampshire put up with.

Or read “photography is not a crime”.

Any interaction with “the authorities” by a Mundane has the potential to go very wrong.

Argh!

Fight back now.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . .” — Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Fast-forward a few decades and the politicians who planted the seeds of decay are long gone in one way or another – but now the municipality cannot afford its obligations. Losses on poorly planned projects, debt, and exorbitant employee compensation eat up most of its revenue, and it can no longer afford to provide the essential public services every resident counts on.

George Zimmerman Acquittal Reflections and Lessons Learned

*** begin quote ***

Sanford, FL–This sad case began with a tragedy. Travon Martin was a troubled lad who made terrible choices. The data recovered from his cell phone and was later unlawfully hidden from George Zmmerman’s defense lawyers by prosecutors showed that Martin was heavily involved with illegal guns, drugs and fighting.

Judge Debra Nelson later ruled that cell phone evidence inadmissible and that was not at all unusual in our courts. It may seem unfair to some but that’s what they normally do.

As for Martin he apparently had personal issues with what he called, “crappy assed crackers” and was the one actually profiling Zimmerman clearly by race. To me it’s logical and believable that Martin caused his own death by assaulting Zimmerman. However we all must recognize that there are no witnesses or video to establish this fact with absolute 100% certainty.

We must not never lose sight of is the fact that we don’t require accused people to prove their innocence and that burden is the government’s to prove that self-defense was not somehow necessary. In the Zimmerman case both the government and media led us astray in that regard.

What is certain are the injuries to Zimmerman obviously inflicted by the stronger and faster, Travon Martin. They’re not serious injuries but they clearly substantiate an attack by an aggressor. The police carefully investigated the case and there was simply no probable cause to arrest Zimmerman.

Zimmerman could have avoided his horrible and expensive ride on the Wheel of Misfortune by simply asking for a lawyer rather than cooperating and answering every question put to him by the cops.
The cops were fair and also the first set of prosecutors however; a special prosecutor shanghaied the case. In the end the only evidence they had was Zimmerman’s admission that he shot Martin. His verbal claim to police of self-defense became a confession they used to file the case!

*** end quote ***

Continued advice is: “Invoke your Fifth Amendment right and then shut up”.

Argh!

The average citizen has no friends, but his lawyer.

I think the Prosecution lived up to the expectations of Gooferment bureaucrats.

If I was the Judge, I would sight the Prosecution for malpractice (about the disclosure) and incompetence (overcharging and using the GZ interviews).

If I was the Governor, I would take the Judge aside and suggest another line of work.

Could it be, that after 3,000 coalition troops killed and untold (because there are no official counts) civilian casualties that the U.S would just hand Afghanistan back to the Taliban?

The prospect is dire, and there are many competing opinions on that point, but the picture emerging from recent headlines is that 1) the Taliban has the upper hand entering into negotiations with the United States and 2) they know it. And don’t forget 3) the United States wants badly to put this war behind and may likely capitulate on old “red lines” to do it.

“I don’t trust the American angle in all this – I am concerned that they will be searching for a quick and easy political settlement that superficially looks and sounds like a solution to Afghanistan and something that they can sell as ‘victory’ back in the US – and all before the end of 2014,” wrote British Afghan researcher Tim Foxley, on his blog, AfghanHindsight.

RANT: The Federalists and the Antifederalists?

http://ncc-1776.org/tle2013/tle726-20130623-01.html

Re: “Neale’s Weekly Gun Rant Volume 14” by Neale Osborn

*** begin quote ***

Part way down he stated, in pertinent part:

There is only ONE way to remove the 2nd Amendment. And you’d think a man claiming to be a lawyer would know that. It’s called “Pass another Amendment”.

Um, no.

There is NO WAY to remove any part of the Bill of Rights, without nullifying the entire constitution and the republic that it purports to create and define.

The constitution was ratified under a binding contract between the Federalists and the Antifederalists, to the effect that the ratification was conditional upon the passage of a Bill of Rights. Therefor, if any part of the Bill of Rights is violated by any means, and that includes its repeal by a new “amendment”, then the whole contract is null and void.

If the contract is void, the ratification is void.
If the ratification is void, the constitution is void.
If the constitution is void, the republic is void.
If the republic is void, there is no “legitimate government” in any legal sense.
If there is no “legitimate government”, there is, de jure, political freedom in the territory previously governed by the former republic.

Since the bill of rights has been violated by direct act of the congress, the presidents and the courts — the ratification contract, the constitution and the republic are null and void, in any legal sense. No new “amendment” violating the bill of rights or the ratification contract is now needed to produce this result.

The argument form is modus ponens. The conclusion is inescapable, to my mind.

So, in legal contemplation, the part of North America between Canada and Mexico, the Alaska Territory, the former Kingdom of Hawaii and the Crown Colonies are, de jure, in a state of anarchy and political freedom, while being illegally occupied by Imperial Usa, a foreign military power.

For such a state of affairs to transit from de jure to de facto, it only requires that the american militia remove t he invading pretender-government now throwing its weight around.

I recommend 5GW strategy.

Good Hunting,
Michael Bradshaw

“Inasmuch as the Constitution was never signed, nor agreed to, by anybody, as a contract, and therefore never bound anybody, and is now binding upon nobody; and is, moreover, such an one as no people can ever hereafter be expected to consent to, except as they may be forced to do so at the point of the bayonet, it is perhaps of no importance what its true legal meaning, as a contract, is. Nevertheless, the writer thinks it proper to say that, in his opinion, the Constitution is no such instrument as it has generally been assumed to be; but that by false interpretations, and naked usurpations, the government has been made in practice a very widely, and almost wholly, different thing from what the Constitution itself purports to authorize. He has heretofore written much, and could write much more, to prove that such is the truth. But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.” Lysander Spooner (1808-1887), No Treason (1870) http://praxeology.net/LS-NT-6.htm#no.6

Obama: ‘If Catholics Have Their Schools and Buildings and Protestants Have Theirs … That Encourages Division’

By Terence P. Jeffrey

*** begin quote ***

(CNSNews.com) – Likening religious schools to segregation–a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South–President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division.

“Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity–symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others–these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,” said Obama. “If towns remain divided–if Catholics have their schools and buildings, and Protestants have theirs–if we can’t see ourselves in one another, if fear or resentment are allowed to harden, that encourages division. It discourages cooperation.

40% of U.S. food is never eaten
How composting could benefit pocketbooks and the environment
By Quentin Fottrell

*** begin quote ***

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s plan to require residents to compost their food waste may cause headaches for some families, but experts say it could also help cut their rising grocery bills.

Under the proposal, by 2016 the city will require residents to separate their food waste for collection. Organic waste in New York City — which could otherwise be recycled for fertilizer or natural gas — currently accounts for 1.2 million tons or 35% of landfills, and a pilot program on Staten Island achieved a participation rate of 43%, according to the mayor’s office. Last year, Vermont introduced a bill to by 2020 require residents to recycle their food waste — and 33% of the organic waste in that state already gets composted.

*** end quote ***

Mayor B is an entertaining parody of a leader.

First it’s the big gulp.

Now, he’s just helping.

Argh!

Is there anything that he can’t try to control?

Now don’t get me wrong, 40% waste, and really any waste, is a “sin”.

Growing up “starving children in china” were ofter used as a guilt trip.

For my own part, living alone, it’s hard to go to the supermarket and find packages for one.

In one recent trip, I could buy 8 pre made hamburgers at the cost of half the weight in bulk. Thanks to a freezer and vacuum sealer, I have 7 hamburgers for different days.

Pre-made salad is cost effective for me. To buy the makings costs more and usually goes bad to quickly.

Sad to say, I depend upon the cafeteria at work for two meals a day. And, I hate week ends for the loss of it.

(Seriously, last week end I made up some hard bolded eggs. But the cafeteria’s are better than mine. Mine are hard to peel; theirs aren’t.)

Just like a “nursing home” except I have to do my own wash.

Laff!

So, I’ll try and do my part Mayor B and not waste anything. Hope everyone else does the same. Without your diktats.

Understanding Liberals and Progressives
by Walter E. Williams

*** begin quote ***

In order to understand the liberal and progressive agenda, one must know something about their world vision and values. Let’s examine some of the evidence.

Why the 1970s struggle to ban DDT? Alexander King, founder of the Malthusian Club of Rome, wrote in a 1990 biographical essay: “My own doubts came when DDT was introduced for civilian use. In Guyana, within two years, it had almost eliminated malaria, but at the same time the birth rate had doubled. So my chief quarrel with DDT, in hindsight, is that it has greatly added to the population problem.”

Dr. Charles Wurster, former chief scientist for the Environmental Defense Fund, was once asked whether he thought a ban on DDT would result in the use of more dangerous chemicals and more malaria cases in Sri Lanka. He replied: “Probably. So what? People are the cause of all the problems. We have too many of them. We need to get rid of some of them, and (malaria) is as good a way as any.”

According to Earthbound, a collection of essays on environmental ethics, William Aiken said: “Massive human diebacks would be good. It is our duty to cause them. It is our species’ duty, relative to the whole, to eliminate 90 percent of our numbers.”

Sorry but that is sad!
