There’s A Reason They Choose Schools
A familiar story.

It is encouraging that college students themselves have a much better grasp on reality than their politically correct elders. During the week of October 22-26 Students For Concealed Carry On Campus will stage a nationwide “empty holster” demonstration (peaceful, of course) in support of their cause.

Hopefully lot’s of people will get the word that they have a Second Amendment RIGHT to defend themselves. No permission needed!

GUNS: Wishing that laws could make skoolz safe; stupidity in action

http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/article-3990.html

***Begin Quote***

In 1974, for instance, during Passover, the PLO launched a series of attacks specifically targeting schools, buses, kindergartens and other child-oriented targets. I have read (I have enough trouble keeping track of Ohio gun laws, much less Israel’s gun laws) that Israel, at that time, had fairly strict gun control, dating back to British rule of the territory 50+ years before that. After a brief gnashing of teeth (“This isn’t the wild west!”) Israel took the novel approach of handing out guns and permits to any capable adult. Teachers, nannies, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, what have you, all started carrying guns. Parents (armed) volunteered to work security shifts, grandparents (armed) became fixtures in schools. Older children received compulsory gun safety training and a sort of high school militia was organized. Soon enough, the Islamic terrorists realized that attacking schools in Israel was a sucker’s bet. Despite the heavy concentration of guns in schools in Israel for 3+ decades, their school shooting rate is non-existent compared to gun-free American schools.

***End Quote***

Well sooner or later, we’ll wake up that the world is a dangerous place. And, no amount of wishing will make it less so.

You either believe that most people are good or most people are evil.

If good, then what is the hard of letting folks defend themselves?

If evil, then why would you want to be defenseless?

Readers here know that I am NOT a fan of gooferment education. It’s nothing more than a baby sitting service that I am forced to pay for that wastes decades of children’s time while filling their heads full of socialist crap.

BUT

Why create target rich zones with no armed opposition?

It’s just asking for killing.

Why can’t teachers, administrators, and custodians — or for that matter even students — be armed?

Don’t you trust them?

:-)

If not, why are you sending children there? If you do, then what’s the problem?

Can’t have it both ways.

Ready to turn over the keys of your vehicle to the cops, or that clever hacker in the next lane? How about that creepy guy following you on a lonely country road?

GM apparently plans to perhaps make this all possible. It’s been announced that they’ll be equipping nearly two million of their 2009 model vehicles (that have OnStar installed), with the capability to be remotely shut down to idle via OnStar commands at the request of law enforcement (http://abcnews.go.com/Business/Autos/story?id=3706113).

The claim is that owners will have to give permission first for this capability to be enabled. Bull. I don’t care what OnStar’s privacy policy says, if the technical capability for this function is present, OnStar will have no practical choice but to comply when faced with a law enforcement demand or court order, whether or not owner “permission” was ever granted.

This new capability will also create an irresistible challenge to the hacker community — and perhaps criminal organizations — to try find ways into the OnStar system for triggering this fun — one way or another. It’s impossible to hack OnStar? Would you bet your life on that?

Unfortunately, this is yet another laudable idea that’s being “driven” into the marketplace before all of the negative ramifications have been thought through or fully understood. And how long will it be before such systems are mandated, one might wonder?

OnStar has long been the subject of various privacy concerns. This new capability appears to be the most serious privacy-related issue for OnStar
to date.

Day Of Deceit: The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor
by Robert Stinnett

This book refutes the official story that the ’41 Pearl Harbor attack was a surprise. The author does an impressive job of absolutely blowing the topic wide open.

Starting from the “Arthur McCollum memo” of 10/07/40, he tracks thru record after record that squarely places the blame on the duplicitous politician that has become an America icon. Like some of other icon, we are finding that they have worse than clay feet.

Like Wilson, FDR was elected on a platform of keeping us out of war. Like Wilson, he shoved us into it.

From the book, it is clearly proved that FDR was personally reading all significant Japanese radio traffic. He was receiving all sorts of analysis that was unmistakable. As a crypto type, I found that the wealth of material was overwhelming as evidence.

It’s apparent from the book, that FDR did everything except send them the plans how to do it. From keeping the FBI in check when they wanted to take down the spy mapping the harbor (page 97) to the “clear sea” order (page 150), his “fingerprints” are all over everything.

The author also point out how the American Congress was deceived by the Executive Branch as late as 1995 about the true nature of Pearl Harbor. We need some criminal trials of the people who testified in those hearings.

I remember in history classes hearing the idea that FDR knew about Pearl Harbor before it happened and it was debunked as conspiracy nonsense. This book just demolishes that whole discussion. I was taught by Christian Brothers who fought in the Pacific. I know they would be stunned to read this book. They were tough men and might have even led a revolution if the truth got out.

At the very least, the history taught in the gooferment skoolz needs some serious revision.

And, like Lincoln and Wilson, their iconic status needs to be changed from “heroic” to “criminal”. Hopefully the Intelligent Designer has a special place in the after life for them.

And, when I hear “conspiracy theories”, I am NOT going to dismiss them out of hand.

And, I am some much less likely to believe anything that the gooferment tells me. Even less than before I read this book. I urge you to read this fellow’s opus Magnus. It’s impressive.

GUNS: Malaysia write rants about crime

Sunday, October 7, 2007

FROM A JEFFERY YONG EMAIL

***Begin Quote***

Violent crimes are rising faster than the Share Market. Malaysians used to watch TV and comment about how bad the crime rate is in USA while quietly thankful that “our Malaysia” is relatively peaceful. No longer! In my neighborhood alone, there is a snatch theft case every single week! If you’re lucky, you lose your money. Or else, you may be slashed mercilessly. The only saving grace is that “gun crimes” are still not as rampant as in the US. But for how long?

I’m not going to go into an emotional account of how the whole nation was in uproar and how even the “imam” (Muslim priest) who conducted the funeral cried openly. I’m also not going to go into a seething rant on how the police and government should be DOING MORE to prevent such crimes. These, you can read in the various blogs all over the net just by searching for “Nurin Jazlin”

***End Quote***

Well, aside from the snide reference to gun crime, it would appear that people can’t defend themselves. John Lott has done numerous studies that show when the good folks are armed, crime plummets.

I’d opine that there are a few reasons for it: (1) Criminals are cowards for good reason. Messing with an armed citizen, or in the vicinity of one, can get you killed. (2) Someone who his armed has assumed the mantle of John Wayne “What are you doing, pilgrim?”. And, is more likely to become the “police” when a neighbor cries out for help. It’s down right dumb to interfere unarmed. (3) Women, the elderly, and children are no longer “weak” and can’t assert their own rights.

As regular readers here know, I like the “sprinkle a few sheepdogs in among the flock and let the wolves guess” strategy.

The police are little more than sanitation men. They come along long after the fact, put up some tape, take pics to memorialize the event, write reports, and then go for doughnuts. Only an armed citizen has a chance to defend themselves and their neighbors from crime.

LIBERTY: Marshals Arrest N.H. Tax Resistors

Marshals Arrest N.H. Tax Evaders
Oct 5 12:08 PM US/Eastern
By HOLLY RAMER Associated Press Writer

***Begin Quote***

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – U.S. marshals posing as supporters arrested convicted tax-evaders Ed and Elaine Brown at their rural, fortress-like home, the head marshal said Friday.

“They invited us in, and we escorted them out,” U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier said, releasing the first details of Thursday night’s arrests.

A small team of marshals pulled off the ruse, arresting the Browns without incident on the front porch of their Plainfield home in west- central New Hampshire, Monier said.

The arrests ended a months-long standoff that began in January, when Brown, 65, a retired exterminator, and his dentist wife, 67, walked out of their federal trial in Concord. She returned to the trial but soon joined her husband at home, where they vowed to resist violently if authorities tried to arrest them.

***End Quote***

Imagine the gaul of these two people — a 67 year old dentist and a 65 year old retired exterminator — having the hubris to resist the Washington gang from stealing their earnings! Hope those “law enforcement” people are proud of themselves. Ask for hospitality and then enslave them. Nice guests! But that’s gooferment for you: force and fraud! It defines them.

Just step back for a second and ask yourself, how is it MORAL for the mob to use force on the individual. Where does that gang get the right to steal from the Browns. You could not walk into their house and take from them. I could not. SO how does it work that it is moral for the GOOFERMENT to do it in our place?

If I don’t agree to something, then you have no MORAL right to force me to obey your diktat!

How was the obligation for them to pay taxes created?

Now, I don’t think that it’s smart to go head to head with any gang. Regardless if it the Mafia, a street gang, the one in Washington, the one in Trenton, or the one down the road locally. But, that doesn’t make what they do moral. I may not be able to take them on directly but that doesn’t make me any less aware that we are their slaves. Their sheep! That they can sheer anyway the fell like. And, they can {expletive deleted; related to the reproductive act} anytime they want.

I remember the 1957 Hungry Rebellion. There will come a time when the American people will awake from their slumber and set the house back in order. I’ll be on the barricades. As the Soviet Communists realized you can only hold the people down for so long. And, just as the French Resistance went house to house executing the collaborators in certain parts of France after the Germans withdrew, so to their will come a day of retribution for the thugs, the bureaucrats, and the politicians.

A bloody day. It will be a sad day for them and a joyous day for liberty when the people rediscover their heritage.

One has to just bide one’s time.

How do we educate our children to be active, critical thinkers and not dumb passive consumers serving someone else interests? For however strange this may sound to you, it may have been “marketing” itself to bring us the terrible education system most civilized countries have adopted in the last century or so.

*** and ***

School trains children to be employees and consumers; teach your own to be leaders and adventurers. School trains children to obey reflexively; teach your own to think critically and independently.

Well-schooled kids have a low threshold for boredom; help your own to develop an inner life so that they’ll never be bored.

Urge them to take on the serious material, the grown-up material, in history, literature, philosophy, music, art, economics, theology – all the stuff schoolteachers know well enough to avoid.

… … the fruitlessness of laws that seek to ban consensual acts including gambling, self-medication and sex for hire?

***End Quote***

One really has to wonder about the people and their reps. Do they live in an alternative universe from the rest of us? In that alternative universe, maybe making gambling, drugs, and prostitution illegal stops real people from doing them, but not in the real world.

Making these illegal, ensure that the mob has a constant source of income. Make them legal, would put the mob in competition with a host of internet gambling sites, WalMart & many other “drug” stores, and bevy of “escort” services now legal.

Every time I hear of a person, usually a youngster, dying of a drug over dose or impurity in the stuff, I blame gooferment. If the stuff was legal, it would be USP certified and cheap. Then, we could focus on treatment. So, be ready, when you ask me if little kids should be able to buy “drugs”, my answer is that they do now. And, your stupid laws, that are attempting to legislate morality on other people by force of gooferment, are killing people.

Argh!

Join the real world, and let’s work on solutions that will really fix problems. If you’re going to stay in that alternative universe, then please keep your ideas from leaking in over here.

***Begin Quote***

But anyway, I want to get back to the draft…

This is an issue where the pro-liberty position, the truly moral position, is painfully simple. If we are forced into a service for which we would not volunteer, then we do not own ourselves. If we do not own ourselves, we are not free people. This would have been a no-brainer for the founding fathers, who constructed our government based on the notion that individuals were born free and sovereign.

To the signers of the Declaration of Independence, it was “self-evident” that people were born with “inalienable rights” and that a legitimate government “derives its just powers from the consent of the governed.” Over time, we have been successful in extending the Declaration’s promise to individuals who happen to be female and/or non-white. But we’ve gone in a radically wrong directon on other fronts, and the draft provides a perfect example. Forced service is a form of slavery, period.

***End Quote***

It’s clearly an idea who’s time has past!

So why are the politicians afraid to end it?

It means jobs for their friends and relatives. Contracts for their contributors. And, more than anything, something they can pander about!

SHOCK: 95-Year-Old Woman Beaten In Manhattan
Police Say Robbery Was Motive, Have Suspect On Tape
Hazel Sanchez
Reporting

***Begin Quote***

(CBS) NEW YORK It’s happened again, an elderly woman has been beaten over a lousy purse. This time, the victim is 95 years old.

Police on Monday were looking for a man they say beat and robbed the woman right outside her 17th floor apartment. The incident happened around 2:15 p.m. at the East River Co-op on the Lower East Side.

The victim’s friends are shocked by the attack.

***End Quote***

I’m shocked.

Casablanca-style

<<< And, I am shocked, shocked, SHOCKED to find there is gambling going on at Rick’s cafe. Now where are MY winnings. ;-) >>>

I’m shocked that in the Pepuls Republik of Nu Yauk Titty that anyone would be surprised that the law of the jungle abounds. The strong take from the weak. Kill or be killed. Streets running with blood.

That’s the liberal paradise.

Even if you are the Good Samaritan passing one of these assaults, you have to have a death wish to become involved.

That’s where the War on Drugs and Gun Control gets you.

The war on drugs makes sick people turn to crime to afford their fix. And Gun Control disarms all the law abiding and turns them into victims.

Now visualize a Libertarian America. The drug addict would be able to buy their fix for modest sums. (Estimates say that MJ would be profitable at a penny a cigarette. Heroin would be akin to cough syrup; five bucks a bottle.) Charitable organizations would be offering drug treatment programs. Crime would be zero. Criminals would have to guess which victims were unarmed and do it in such a way that avoids a Good Samaritan. Criminals that guess wrong are “retired” from the business. We’d all be a lot better off and a lot safer.

So I’m shocked that more people don’t see that the meme of gooferment force just makes us all worse off.

Even a 95 year old can be trusted to defend themselves from the jackals in human form.

Just sprinkle a few sheep dogs among the sheep and crime will be very unprofitable. End the war on drugs and there’s no need for it either.

GUNS: “Slow action” not the root cause

Sunday, September 2, 2007

Slow action faulted in Virginia Tech massacre
Aug 30 03:37 AM US/Eastern

***Begin Quote***

Virginia Tech was too slow to inform staff and students about a shooting incident in April that rapidly spiralled into the bloodiest campus massacre in US history, an investigation concluded Wednesday.

***End Quote***

Sorry, but the root cause was disarming those who wanted to defend themselves. They would have been in a position to defend the others.

Numbers I’ve read that about 10% of any large group will be armed if allowed to be.

(Based on my readings. I remember the Church break in story where the congregation of thirty people had three CCW holder in the crowd. And, the story where the down cop was protected by one armed bystander of about ten. It feels like its about 10% although on a raw number basis from permit issued versus the entire population in a subset indicates it could be higher.)

So of that class of thirty students where the bulk of the killing occurred, it would not be unreasonable to expect that there might be as many as three potential defenders. And, the gallant teacher that was killed! Surely he might have had a weapon given his life experience.

So, liberal disarm the population and then are astonished when bad things happen.

Imagine if one of those good kids was a “law breaker”. Imagine if he said “<insert favorite bad word here> it! I’m not going to be a sheep!”. Imagine the expression of surprise on the bad guys face if he had to face return fire! Assuming that our two lawbreakers were in that situation, who might be the better shot?

When they arrested our sheep dog for carrying an illegal weapon, who on the jury would say “no you should have died with the other 29”?

And, we wonder why the bumper stickers say “Better judged by 12 than carried by 6”.

So these delusional bureaucrats will blame “slow action” when the real problem was disarmament. Let’s sprinkle some sheep dogs in the flock of sheep and give the wolves a little surprise. If the bad guys are as cowardly as research tells us, we’ll see a huge drop in violet crime. There’s no profit in it. Guess wrong and you’re dead!

From an earlier blog post:

*** begin quote ***

I particularly like unlimited concealed carry. If the criminal regards the general public as sheep to be shorn, then let’s sprinkle in a few “sheepdogs” with big teeth in the flock.

Guess which gay to bash? Buzz, wrong, you picked a Pink Pistol and you’re dead!

Guess which woman to bash? Buzz, wrong, you picked a Paxton Quigly and you’re dead!

Guess which brown person to bash? Buzz, wrong, you picked a Massad Ayoob and you’re dead!

*** end quote ***

Overlay that strategy on the VT shootings and we might have a much better out come.

The FBI has quietly built a sophisticated, point-and-click surveillance system that performs instant wiretaps on almost any communications device, according to nearly a thousand pages of restricted documents newly released under the Freedom of Information Act.

The surveillance system, called DCSNet, for Digital Collection System Network, connects FBI wiretapping rooms to switches controlled by traditional land-line operators, internet-telephony providers and cellular companies. It is far more intricately woven into the nation’s telecom infrastructure than observers suspected.

It’s a “comprehensive wiretap system that intercepts wire-line phones, cellular phones, SMS and push-to-talk systems,” says Steven Bellovin, a Columbia University computer science professor and longtime surveillance expert.

Sorry, it’s a slap on the wrist. And, the system is fundamentally flawed.

The Grand Jury system doesn’t protect the accused. That’s its one purpose. Despite what you see on Law & Order, there’s truth in the old canard that “a prosecutor can get a ham sandwich indicted”. We need to rework the system. The prosecutor has an unlimited budget to overwhelm all but the rich. And, if you are acquitted, the prosecutor bears — in most cases — no punishment.

No the gooferment courts are part of that illusion of legitimacy. It’s just gooferment bureaucrats in costumes putting on a show and protecting other gooferment bureaucrats.

Sigh!

LIBERTY: government’s dereliction of its first basic function

Liberal Views, Black Victims
By Walter E. Williams

So here’s the question: Should black people accept government’s dereliction of its first basic function, that of providing protection? My answer is no. One of our basic rights is the right to defend oneself against predators. If the government can’t or won’t protect people, people have a right to protect themselves.

***End Quote***

Even if the gooferment could or would protect people, the people have the right to defend themselves.

Interesting. I’ve been quibbling with the great Professor more and more.

I think the formulation of a “right” is interesting process.

(1) To own myself, I acknowledge that all men own themselves.

(2) Thus, everyone owns their past and their future. (If I own myself but not my past and / or my future, then what do I own?)

(3) Rights are basically negatives. Right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

(4) If one man’s rights are infringed, everyone’s rights are infringed. (alone we are weak; together we are dominant.)

(5) I have rights that are “inalienable”. You can’t take them; I can’t give them away.

(6) I can fail to fight for my rights and you can infringe upon them.

(7) If you delegate, that representative can exercise no more rights than you had to delegate.

So, rights are recognized as inalienable but must be defended to “have” them.

Heck, yes, like Jack Nicolson said in A Few Good Men:

Col. Jessep: Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago’s death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

I too don’t care what the gooferment thinks it’s entitled to. I don’t care what anyone thinks they are entitled too. I especially don’t care what some gang in fancy suits thinks they are entitled to.

I suggest that when push comes to shove over rights, we’ll both have to pick up a rifle and defend each other’s rights. Or “they” will pick us off one by one.

I would say that victims of crime have ONLY themselves to blame for not defending their rights. I’ll stand with them.

LIBERTY: Thirty days back to a Constitutional America

Rockwell’s Thirty-Day Plan
by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.

***Begin Quote***

When Eastern Europe broke free in 1989, we all realized just how little thought had been given to the transition from socialism to capitalism. Mises had told us the collapse was coming, and we should have been prepared.

As America comes to resemble a command economy, we need a transition plan here too. Yuri Maltsev proposed a “One-Year Plan” for the U.S.S.R. We’re not in that bad a shape (yet), so we could do it in 30 days.

DAY ONE: The federal income tax is abolished and April 15th is declared a national holiday. The 40% reduction in federal revenues is matched by a 40% cut in spending. The budget is still almost twice as big as Jimmy Carter’s.

***AND***

DAY FOURTEEN: The shaky fiat dollar is defined in terms of gold, with the ratio determined by dividing the government’s gold stock by all existing dollars on that day.

***AND***

DAY TWENTY-EIGHT: The American people are given the unrestricted right to keep and bear arms.

***End Quote***

Well said. I have some minor quibbles.

In #1, what national holidays? What is is a holiday from? Where in the newly brushed off Constitution does it say anything about National Holidays? On April 15th, after Lew nukes the IRS, I’ll be happy to take a day off at my own choosing to tell my younger in-laws who were educated in gooferment skoolz that there once was a time when theft by a gang of very bad men holed up in a Maryland swamp were so strong that they convinced people that they should send half of their production to that swamp. But, I don’t need a gooferment holiday to do that!

In #14, I don’t agree in the redemption method. I think all those green pieces of paper need redemption and that all those unfunded promises need to be made whole, but how to do it is my quibble. I think all those federal assets need to be sold off for the creditors.

In #28, rights aren’t given! They may be restored from their previous infringement but they are after all inalienable.

All in all, I thing the schedule needs a little shuffling, but the next month should be fun!

LIBERTY: Denying genocides is like defying gravity; it can kill you.

No room to deny genocide
By Jeff Jacoby, Globe Columnist | August 22, 2007

***Begin Quote***

Genocide denial must be intolerable to everyone, but above all to those for whom “never again” is such a sacred principle. And at a time when jihadist violence from Darfur to Ground Zero has spilled so much innocent blood, dissimulation about the jihad of 1915 can only aid our enemies.

The Armenian genocide is an incontestable fact of history. Shame on anyone who refuses to say so.

***End Quote***

It takes gooferment to kill large numbers of people. Failing to recognize that fact is what enables it to happen.

I guess I was “fortunate” as a child to meet and talk with people who either survived or whose parents survived three of the major genocides — the Shoah, the Armenian killings, and the Irish Black ‘n’ Tans persecution. We were taught in school about the American Indian, the Russian Gualgs, Mao’s Starvation, and the Cambodian Killing Fields.

As such, I know no matter what gooferments would like to pretend it happened.

If paradigms are the way we see things and meme are our ideas, then the cooperation paradigm as implemented in the meme of gooferment is very dangerous. Like playing with fire, gooferment can burn us.
