Outgoing Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards pardons 40 murderers — including man who stabbed store worker 39 times

Louisiana’s outgoing Democratic governor pardoned 40 convicted murderers since October including one of whom had been on death row and another who fatally stabbed a woman 39 times.

Gov. John Bel Edwards has been on a mission to help Louisiana lose the title of being the World’s Prison Capital and has signed the pardons to release 56 total convicts in five separate batches.

*** and ***

Owner Grady Haynes was behind the counter of YQ Grocery and was shot once in the back of the head by Washington who was using a .32-caliber handgun, according to the case brief.

Washington faced the death penalty, but the jury was unable to come to a unanimous decision, which forced the case’s judge to rule he be sentenced to life behind bars.

Another pardon involved a man who fatally stabbed a woman nearly 40 times.

Nick Charles Nicholson, who also received a pardon, was found guilty of fatally stabbing convenience store worker Kelly Ann Gramm in 1981.

Gramm was discovered with 39 stabbed wounds across her body, and a broken tip of a knife lodged in her skull, the outlet reported.

“Democratic” justice?

How will this deter future murders?

I am speechless at the injustice to the victim’s families.

GOLD: What does 80K$ / oz mean?

  • “There are two kinds of forecasters: those who don’t know, and those who don’t know they don’t know.”
  • Forecasts create the mirage that the future is knowable – Peter Bernstein

*** begin quote ***

It may seem quaint, but there was a time pre-1971 when you could divide the monetary aggregates (there are several) by the amount of gold held by the US Treasury and you would derive the reference price of $35/oz.

And in 1980 when gold soared to $800/oz the dollar was 100% backed by the gold the US held.

What is shocking is the amount of paper money created since that time frame.

If one were to do the same calculation today (monetary aggregates/gold ounces held by the US Treasury) it would take a gold price of $80,000/oz to balance the equation.

    A far cry from today’s $1,950/oz.

*** end quote ***

Wow, I’m not predicting that will be the price.  I am predicting that the value of the U$D has been largely “inflated” away and the rubes aka “We, The Sheeple” just haven’t realized it yet.

I wonder when Joe-Sixpack in the Weimar Republic in the 1920’s realized that his German Marks weren’t good for anything but as firestarter.  Likewise the folks in Zimbabwe who went out to pan for gold to buy bread.

Things retain “wealth” as folks eventually learn after getting screwed by politicians and bureaucrats with their paper money.

GOVERNACIDE: How can a multiple DUI driver be free?

A mom and her teenage son were killed in a car wreck and police have arrested the man they say was behind the wheel while drunk – a suspect who has three previous DUI convictions.

On Thursday, Colorado’s 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced formal charges against Jose Menjivar, 37.

Menjivar is accused of causing a crash in Broomfield on December 12 that claimed the lives of Melissa Powell, 46, and her son Riordan, 16.

Seems like the price would have a BOLO on every DUI convicted driver.

Instead of random checkpoints pursue the repeat offenders.  Give them a special license plate, like the dealer plates that easily are put on and off, that say “stop me for a DUI check”!

This is not the first time I’ve ranted about this topic.

The person who loaned him the truck should be prosecuted as well as an “accessory before the fact”. That person had to know him well enough to know he didn’t have license.

Half of Buick Dealers Take Buyouts to Avoid Having to Sell GM’s Electric Cars
John Binder 20 Dec 2023

*** begin quote ***

Almost half of Buick dealers across the United States have opted to take buyouts from General Motors (GM) to avoid having to sell Electric Vehicles (EVs) at a time when consumer reports show Americans are increasingly turned off by the cars.

According to GM, almost 1,000 of its nearly 2,000 Buick dealerships across the U.S. chose to take buyouts from the parent company rather than investing potentially millions into retooling and prepping dealers to service and sell EVs.

The buyouts mean that GM will now have just about 1,000 Buick dealerships across the nation as the automaker moves forward with adhering to President Joe Biden’s green energy agenda.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Eliminate the Department of Education based on the education “results” in the USA

Reagan’s Goal to End the Department of Education Is Finally Gaining Momentum

  • Ending the Department of Education may seem like a radical idea, but it’s not as crazy as it sounds.

Wednesday, April 20, 2022

*** begin quote ***

“Unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. should not be in charge of our children’s intellectual and moral development,” said Massie when he initially introduced the bill. “States and local communities are best positioned to shape curricula that meet the needs of their students.”

Massie is echoing sentiments expressed by President Ronald Reagan in 1981, who advocated dismantling the Department of Education even though it had just begun operating in 1980.

“By eliminating the Department of Education less than 2 years after it was created,” said Reagan, “we cannot only reduce the budget but ensure that local needs and preferences, rather than the wishes of Washington, determine the education of our children.”

*** end quote ***

I can’t think of a better way to start off the year than by nuking the Department of Education.  Maybe Energy too.

If one of the objectives was to improve “education”, then it has failed miserably.  And, unlike the private sector which takes care of mistakes (i.e., malinvestment in things not demanded by the consumer)  — think of the Edsel, cassette tapes, and Blockbuster  — via the bankruptcy court, no Gooferment program ever goes out of business.

The guitarist who saved hundreds of people on a sinking cruise liner

On 4 August 1991, about 45 minutes after the last person on board had been airlifted to safety, the Oceanos slipped away below the water. Everyone who had been put into lifeboats was rescued by passing ships and remarkably no lives were lost.

Moss and Tracy, who now live in Liverpool, continued working as cruise ship entertainers for many years. Even now, three decades later, Tracy prefers not to talk about the sinking or dwell on how close they all came to losing their lives.

But Moss, who’s been asked about the Oceanos many, many times, finds it cathartic to talk about. He looks back on what happened with great relief.

“I’m not invincible,” Moss says, “but if I can get through that, I can get through anything.”

Domestic Violence Survivors Speak Out Against Gun Control

Shirley Watral, the state director of the Florida Women For Gun Rights Organization, is a domestic violence survivor and professional firearms instructor. In the hearing, she shared how her views on gun ownership changed after how the man she was in love with kidnapped her and tortured her for 15 hours (via Judiciary.House.gov):

Attempts I made to escape were met with beatings. I was no match for his size and strength. I was forced to stay seated or kneeling on the floor of the master bedroom. As the hours went by, I found no way out. I thought my salvation came when he brought out a gun and set it on the bed. Hours prior to this, no one heard my screams or came to my rescue. I saw the gun as my way to freedom. I could either use it to defend myself or get a shot off that the neighbors would hear.

Yeah, I know Christmas Eve is supposed to be about the Prince of Peace’s birthday.

But, to the victims of Domestic Violence, it often brings out the worst.

A Canadian journalist who took strong positions in support of COVID-19 vaccines—including calling for vaccine passports and terminating police officers who refused the jab—has died suddenly.

Deep into the Big Pharma US Treasury raid, we learned that the word “vaccine” was redefined to include a bio-engineered weapons program.

Everyone, who disagreed, was labeled as “anti-vax”.  Despite that no one was refusing to take the polio (real) “vaccine”.  Nor were children not being given some of the OLD Traditional shots like DPT and measles.  And old {synonym for multiple instances of  flatulence} like me were taking Pneumonia and Shingle vaxes.

No, the resistance was to these newfangled RNA “jabs” that were suspect.

Some of the suspicions were that politicians and bureaucrats, celebrities, and Big Executives were getting the distilled water or not getting jabbed at all.

ECONOMICS: Are EVs the modern day Edsel?

One Third as Far
By Eric – December 17, 2023

*** begin quote ***

But the answer – after much study – probably has to do with people not wanting to buy used devices that don’t go very far and take very long to get going again. Particularly because the batteries that power these devices are used. And used batteries hold less charge – on their way to holding none. Rendering the device incapable of going at all. And the cost of replacing that battery with a new one to power the inert device is not “rather competitive.”

Scientific Americans says “The impact of the used EV market can’t be understated.” And that’s certainly true – as used and unwanted and so unsellable battery powered devices with wilting batteries accumulate and languish on used car lots all around the country – alongside the brand-new EVs that are accumulating and languishing on dealership lots all around the country.

Scientific American says nothing about the potential “impact” of this on the car industry. Or on the economy – that is to say, on all the people whose livelihoods depend in one way or another on the manufacture and sale of cars – after the car industry collapses as a result of being pushed, Soviet-style, to build as many battery-powered devices as can be shipped (but not sold) as the factories can churn out.

*** end quote ***

Doesn’t make “economic” sense.  These “cars” are an ecological disaster when they are made, when they are used, and finally when they are junked.  I watch them on the road and they are “virtue signals” until they have to be plugged in.  Every once in a while, I see one with a dent and wonder when is it going to ignite.

Elite Exemptions: Power Over the People!

In the current trend of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the 1% is exempt. They are exempt from their own rules and marketing ploys. The continued facade of doing good for All, with policies, programs, and new ideations on society, only truly benefits the elite groups. Policies and programs that wind up hurting – us and helping – them.

These kind of operations are a complete FARCE and Americans pay in every way!

New FOIA requests from New Zealand are showing the writing on the wall: The COVID-19 vaccination program exempted thousands of government officials and elites from taking them. In America, the FDA wants 55 years to process one of these requests. Please tell me WHY? In America and across the globe, they have taken life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness away from everyday citizens. They took licenses away from stellar physicians, closed small businesses, instigated riots and division, jailed people for not wearing masks and mercilessly allowed people to die. They enabled strong-armed fear tactics that promoted submission while they smiled in our faces, all the while knowing exactly what they were doing. NOT for the greater good.

They should not be trusted.

The sheer evilness of these antics are clear as day; say and do anything to generate profit even if it completely destroys others. The unwitting and innocent lined up with absolute trust in these officials. Many corrupt spokespersons for the corrupt media. Always, always follow the money. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion aren’t part of this plan from the elitist caste system. They are of their own kind, using their homogenous class to keep us riddled with illness, fear, doubt, subservience and obedience.

Don’t eat from their hands.

Continue to move forth in your sovereignty and empower yourself with supplies, medications, protection, and the truth.

What a coincidence?

Sorry but there have been rumors that in the USA politicians like Old Befuddled Joe got saline injections purporting to be covid jabs.  Of course, all these reports were dismissed as “Conspiracy Theories”.  Now we have evidence that at least in New Zealand, the “elite” were exempt.  Fair to ask: who, why, and how?

Why don’t we have an equivalent disclosure in the USA?

Personally, I wouldn’t trust anyone shilling for big Pharma.  That especially include politicians, bureaucrats, and “celebrities”.  How much was Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s now popular beau, paid and what was he given in the advertised shot?  “Travis Kelce does vaccine ad, tells public they can get COVID, flu vaccines at same time

INSPIRATIONAL: Amazing but arduous cure for sickle cell disease

Sickle Cell Gene Therapy

The US Food and Drug Administration yesterday approved a pair of gene therapy treatments for sickle cell disease, a group of inherited red blood cell disorders caused by mutations in a gene that produces an oxygen-carrying protein known as hemoglobin. One of the treatments, called Casgevy, is based on breakthrough CRISPR technology—a Nobel Prize-winning gene-editing tool (see 101, w/video)—and is the first approved gene-editing therapy in the US.

Codeveloped by Vertex Pharmaceuticals and CRISPR Therapeutics, Casgevy involves harvesting cells from a patient’s bone marrow, editing the cells in a lab using CRISPR technology, and inserting the modified cells back into the patient’s body. Read one man’s account of being among the first people to experience the CRISPR-based treatment here.

The second treatment, developed by Bluebird Bio and called Lyfgenia, uses a harmless virus to introduce a gene into a patient’s body to help produce a hemoglobin substitute. Both Casgevy and Lyfgenia have been approved for people 12 years and older.

Sickle cell disease (see overview) affects more than 100,000 Americans per year and 20 million people worldwide.

The options for treating sickle cell disease are very limited. Denying access to such a powerful and transformative treatment based on someone’s ability to pay, or where they happen to live, strikes me as unethical. I believe patients and health-care providers everywhere deserve to know that the treatment will be available to those who need it.

Truly it was an arduous journey.

And, while it may be hard to understand, breakthroughs are expensive.  But as soon as they are made, the inventors and others work on making it available cheaply and easily.  Indoor plumbing, electric light, and automobiles quickly became available to the masses thanks to the “invisible hand” of the marketplace and the incentives af making a profit.

A Senate panel approved a bill Thursday that would create new penalties for underage alcohol possession over the complaints of advocates who said the shift would send more young people into the criminal justice system.

The bill, approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee in a 9-2 vote, would subject individuals under the age of 21 found to possess alcohol to a $50 fine and a complaint summons, the equivalent of a disorderly persons offense.

Legislators who supported the bill said the change is needed to address parties in Jersey Shore towns that local officials have decried as chaotic and disruptive, and to provide some measure of enforcement for underage users who flout drinking laws.

The Dodgers must have channeled their inner Bill Belichick.  This will get everyone’s shorts in a knot.  Especially the politicians and bureaucrats in the Pepuls Republik of Kaliforkneeah.  That’s a lot of money they can’t steal.  And it’s a big risk to take on the financial stability of the Dodgers and the future value of the USD.  Wonder what kind of Futures Contract he’s buying to protect it.

While I understand the motivations behind “stretching the rules”, it’s NOT without some significant risks IMHO.

It violates my favorite heuristic (rule of thumb; “common sense”; pov) that one should always “take the money and run”.

It’s not beyond the imagination to conceive of the politicians and bureaucrats of the Pepuls Republik of Kaliforkneeah creating a special income tax rule for “deferred compensation”.  Watch for it!

AND, inflation AKA dollar depreciation is for SURE to erode that deferred wealth.

Under the bill, coupons that can only be accessed by shoppers through their computers, tablets or smartphones would also have to be made available in-store, offering the same price or discount as what’s being offered online.

A special election to fill the congressional seat vacated by expelled former Rep. George Santos will take place on Feb. 13, 2024, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday.

Hochul set the date for the vote in New York’s Third Congressional District one day after calling her former challenger, ex-Rep. Tom Suozzi, to the governor’s mansion in Albany to bend the knee following his ill-fated primary bid last year.

“We had a good meeting and cleared the air, and I appreciate her making the time,” Suozzi said. “At a time of strong political division, I offered to be another moderate voice as the Governor works to solve problems and make progress.”

Suozzi repped the Queens and Nassau County district for six years before leaving to run against Hochul in the gubernatorial race, opening the way for Santos to upset Democrat Robert Zimmerman as part of a midterm red wave in the Empire State.

Why have the expense of a “special election”?  Just leave it vacant until the next regular election!

“It should also be possible to persuade third countries to take back their own nationals after deportation orders. If they don’t do it, you could ‘freeze their assets,’ prevent (their citizens) from traveling to Europe and other things. You have to persuade these states to behave in accordance with international law,” he said.

Clearly, the USA needs to deport ALL illegals.  Convicted Felons and illegally reentering aliens should be priority one.  And FAST!

A Los Angeles homeowner shot and killed a suspected burglar over the weekend after a group of men wearing dark hoodies and masks broke into his home — where a child and grandmother were left rattled by the brazen attempted burglary.

Police responded to the Granada Hills home around 5 a.m. Saturday morning after receiving radio calls of shots fired inside the residence.

The homeowner told police he was inside his home when three or four unknown men wearing “dark clothing, hoodies and masks” broke in, the Los Angeles Police Department wrote on X.

“A suspect pointed a weapon at the victim and while the suspects were inside the residence, the victim produced a firearm and a shooting occurred,” the department wrote.

The homeowner, who was photographed outside the residence seemingly in handcuffs, was taken to the Devonshire Community Police Station to be interviewed, though they were later released.

Give you some insight into the Pepuls Republik of Kaliforkneeah’s attitude towards guns?

TEXIT Progress: Secession Question Expected To Appear on 2024 Texas Primary Ballot
by Tyler Durden

As the US government hurtles toward insolvency while political and cultural divisions intensify across the country, Texans are poised to take their long-simmering flirtation with secession to the next level, as a non-binding proposition is expected to appear on the statewide GOP primary ballot in March 2024.

Interesting that of all the States only North Dakota has a State bank and could leave.

Other candidates for an _EXIT are: California, New Hampshire, Alaska, and Hawaii.

It happened to the USSR, so why not the USA?
