New York City, N.Y., Jul 16, 2011 / 08:52 pm (CNA).- The Vatican congratulated South Sudan, the world’s newest country, for its admission to the United Nations on July 14.

Excuse me?

Why is the American Taxpayer paying for the UN?

Another country on the dole.

More politicians and bureaucrats created as opposed to productive workers.

More people in poverty from supporting a new “priestly” class.

Another to vote against us in the “General Assembly”.

More embassies!

Another set of DPL plates in NYC.

Argh!

Iran’s Economic Spiral: Country To Cut ‘4 Zeros’ Off Of National Currency

TEHRAN — Removing four zeroes off the national currency will not have any inflationary impact on the economy, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Hossein Qazavi, said here on Wednesday.

Is this the vision of how it could happen here?

Old dollars to new “improved” Federal Reserve Bank Notes. They could have contest to who would appear on the bills. Big winners those who have change.

TECHNOLOGY: The risks of relying upon the Cloud

Facebook Bans Google+ Ads by samzenpus

Barbara, not Barbie writes “Not content with making it hard for people to export their Facebook contacts to Google+, Facebook has now banned all ads from app developer Michael Lee Johnson, who ran an ad saying ‘Add Michael to Google+.’ Facebook sent him the following message: ‘Your account has been disabled. All of your adverts have been stopped and should not be run again on the site under any circumstances. Generally, we disable an account if too many of its adverts violate our Terms of Use or Advertising guidelines. Unfortunately we cannot provide you with the specific violations that have been deemed abusive. Please review our Terms of Use and Advertising guidelines if you have any further questions.'”

This is an example of why you can’t depend the Cloud for “production”. It can disappear on a whim. Taking all your data with it.

Rangers express regret, support for family of fan
Ryan calls fatal accident ‘sad,’ team sets up memorial fund

ARLINGTON — The day after what club president Nolan Ryan called “one of the saddest things” he has experienced at a ballpark, the Rangers set up a memorial fund for the family of Brownwood fireman Shannon Stone.

Stone died on Thursday night as the result of injuries sustained in a 20-foot fall from the left-field seats into an area behind the out-of-town scoreboard during a game against the A’s at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Flags flew at half-staff on Friday at the Ballpark and both teams were planning to wear a black ribbon on their uniforms for the game. A moment of silence will also be observed and information on the memorial fund will be made through the Texas Rangers Foundation.

Well, I didn’t catch Jeter’s 3,000th hit.

But, I have chipped in.

It was a “dumb accident”, but I understand the joy of catching a ball. Frau Reinke caught one, (after I skillfully got out of the way), savored the moment and proceeded to quickly make a young boy’s day by giving it to him.

She had her “once in a lifetime” joy, and shared it.

That nightmare only continued at a Wednesday hearing , when she claims defense attorney Gabi Silver kept badgering her on the stand insinuating that she brought this attack on herself, causing this victim to snap in court.

“I said just get to the point bitch, it slipped out, it was inappropriate… all the bottled anger” says the alleged victim.

Without a warning, she says 36th District Judge Vanessa Bradley held her in contempt and ordered her to spend three days in jail.

Ahh, Gooferment judges, can’t even tell the good people from the bad. It’s all about the assumption of the right to initiate force.

Contempt?

The whole system deserves contempt.

No future for Chicago pork belly contracts

Since then, the bacon business has changed, with consumers eating more year-round, requiring less need for cold storage and so less need to hedge the frozen meat for sale in summertime.

“People don’t put bellies into storage the way that they did. It’s all fresh bellies these days,” Mr Lothian said.

Guess the free market moves on.

FUN: CornPops and Saturday morning TV

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Recently, I heard that CornPops were being discontinued.

So, of course, I bought a box before they were gone.

I remember Saturday mornings, 6 decades ago, sitting with my bowl of SurarPops and watching Andy Devine tame the West.

Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy.

Sigh
