Miracle as missing hiker, 70, is found alive after five days in the blistering Sierra Nevada – as he reveals the mistake got him lost and the trick he used to survive

A missing 70-year-old hiker who was miraculously been found alive after getting lost for five days in the blistering heat of the Sierra Nevada mountains has revealed how he managed to survive.

Warren Elliott disappeared last week after setting out on a stroll from his campsite in Rubicon Springs.

The experienced hiker made a wrong turn at around 3pm on Friday and ended up getting lost as the mercury soared to 90F, drinking from the nearby river and snacking on berries to survive.

*** end quote ***

Of course, the article doesn’t reveal the “mistake” or the “trick”.

(I don’t consider “making a wrong turn”, that might kill you, as a mere “mistake”.  It’s a “mistake” when you put ketchup on your hot dog instead of mustard.  Nor do I consider “drinking from a river and snacking on berries ” as a “trick”.)

He was lucky to survive.

Where was his daypack and at least his EDC (Every Day Carry)?  When you’re lost, it’s drilled into stop moving and stay put, so you can be found.  Nine crow miles away is obviously not staying put.  At least, when you “found” the river, make camp and build a smoky fire.  That’s a “trick” to get found.

And, with all of these “rescues”, I always ask “who pays”? We know it’s the Taxpayer.

Argh!

Assuming that Gooferment Skrules gets Federal money, then where does the Bill of Rights say that?

Sorry but just another example of the Gooferment politicians and bureaucrats taking away RIGHTS that imbue from our humanity.

Bizarre moment lawyer is kicked off Avianca flight from Colombia to LA after seat he had purchased three months prior was sold to a mother flying with two children

By Adriano Torres, Dailymail.com

A lawyer held up a flight for almost an hour after he discovered that the airlines company Avianca had overbooked his seat.

The passenger, who identified himself as Juan Manuel in a recent video chat with the TikToker who filmed the incident, had purchased a roundtrip fare from Bogotá, Colombia, to Los Angeles before he was shocked to find out that there was a child sitting in his seat.

Manuel recalled arriving two and a half hours ahead of his trip at El Dorado International Airport for the first leg of his journey, before making a connection in El Salvador.

This is far from uncommon.  In this day of technology, we were better off when the airlines did manual seat assignment with peel off stickers.  Yes, I am that old.  When you should up to the gate, you got your sticker assigning the seat.  When they ran out of stickers, you were out of luck.  Never heard of any problems.

RANT: Rich Missouri couple fined for poisoning Maine neighbor’s trees blocking the view

Maine vacation home owners who poisoned trees obscuring stunning ocean views from their $3.5 million property are threatened with prosecution

A wealthy CEO who improved the sea-view from her $3.5million Maine vacation home by poisoning her wealthy neighbor’s trees faces fresh criminal investigation after paying $1.7 million in fines and settlements.

Amelia Bond secretly sprinkled four pounds of the lethal herbicide Tebuthiuron on trees belonging to Lisa Gorman in 2022, before offering to pay for their removal when they started dying.

Bond, former head of the $500 million St Louis Foundation, has since paid $1.5 million in compensation to Gorman after tests revealed her ploy.

Argh!

I think that just a fine is not enough.  Time to teach these folks a lesson.  I’d bar them from the State until the trees grow back.  Maybe some jail time in Missouri, or Haiti might teach them a lesson.  Throw the book at these entitled fools.

TINFOILHAT: Who killed Marilyn Monroe?

Unearthed claim about JFK and Bobby Kennedy’s involvement in Marilyn Monroe’s death… and all the signs it wasn’t a suicide, revealed by MAUREEN CALLAHAN: ‘I know who killed her’
By Maureen Callahan For DailyMail.Com
Published: 12:13 EDT, 16 June 2024 | Updated: 12:33 EDT, 16 June 2024

  • On Saturday, in an exclusive extract of her new book ‘Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed’, Maureen Callahan revealed the sordid secrets of Jackie and Aristotle Onassis’s marriage. Now, in this explosive next extract, she delves into the enduring mystery of Marilyn Monroe’s death…

*** begin quote ***

Both Kennedys were banned from Marilyn’s funeral by Joe DiMaggio.

‘I always knew who killed her, but I didn’t want to start a revolution in this country,’ he said later. ‘She told me someone would do her in, but I kept quiet.

‘The whole lot of Kennedys were lady-killers, and they always got away with it. They’ll be getting away with it a hundred years from now.’

*** end quote ***

I’m sure that JFK or Bobbie did NOT their own “wet work”.

</sarcasm> … After all they were two good “Catholic” boys! … <sarcasm/>

One can’t read this excerpt without feel pity for Marilyn and Joe DiMaggio.  And disgust for the Kennedys!

Hard to read and not lose all respect for JFK despite all the good things he did and could have done.

Requiescat In Pacem Marilyn.

JOBFINDING: Make your job output objective and verifiable

Wells Fargo fires a dozen employees for pretending to work – here’s how they tried to get away with it
By Emma Richter For Dailymail.Com

*** begin quote ***

Dozens of Wells Fargo employees were fired after the bank investigated claims that they were pretending to work.

The workers, who were all employed in the firm’s wealth and investment management unit, were let go last month after it was discovered they were allegedly involved in ‘simulation of keyboard activity,’ Bloomberg reported Thursday.

According to disclosures filed with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the former employees were ‘creating an impression of active work’ through simulation tools.

*** end quote ***

Back when I had a life, I supervised big and small groups.  Often, geographically spread across the USA and in one assignment globally.  Early in my career, I hated “evaluations”.  So I turned it into a game.  I’d ask the employee or consultant how they would like to be managed?  Most were in favor of a “low touch; high autonomy” environment.  Me 2!  So, I’d ask them for objective criteria that they could use to demonstrate productivity and thus high ratings.

Later, AT&T came up with “ratings and rankings” to merge groups of employees’ performance across divisions and departments.  That was right up our strong suit.  When you could make statements like: “Joe cleared 95% of his tickets in less than and hour with high end User satisfaction ratings” or “Jane completed over 700 security exceptions with a MTTR of 4 hours and has received 36 positive User feedback emails to the Division Head from his counterpart.”  It was easy to justify that “my” Joe or Jane was “better” than  “their” Sam or Sarah. If “my” people didn’t get that “Outstanding” rating  — which meant more salary or bonus money and promotions  — I could tell them why and they could come up with their own “improvement plans”.  Win for them and win for me.

I got high ratings for employee performance, morale, attendance, safety, and all sort of other stuff.  And, I was always AMAZED that “leadership” never asked me how I did it.  Which was fine with me.  I was happy to keep my “special sauce” secret.

In looking for a “job”, sell your past successes “objectively” and in metrics that focus on creating value for others.

DISCOURAGING: Isn’t killing animals the first step in the psychopath serial killers development?

In the video, five teenage boys surround the cat, named Vortex, who appears to be lounging on the corner of the street.

After a few moments, one of the sick boys pulls out a long-barreled gun and aims it at Vortex, who was cherished for her sweet and friendly personality.

Then the teenager fired his gun and struck the cat.

*** and ***

The Salem Police Department recently charged two 17-year-old teens in connection with the cat’s slaying.

Both of the boys were charged with first-degree aggravated animal abuse. One of them was additionally charged with evidence tampering.

But the investigation remains ongoing. The teenager who shot the cat has not been identified, and the weapon he used has not been recovered.

Isn’t killing pets a sign of a future serial killer psychopath?

Sorry, but these are not “teenagers” any more.  They should be charged as adults.

But since this is Oregon, I expect a slap on the wrist and sent home to plan their next “adventure” like a school shooting.

Where are we going as nation to produce monsters like these?

Shocking footage has emerged showing a gigantic ‘shantytown’ that has sprung up in Oakland, as the California city’s slide into crime-ravaged squalor continues.

Michael Oxford, the host of CaliBased, posted a video on May 31 of massive temporary houses built along service roads that open up into main roads in Hooverville, Oakland.

The footage showed trash strewn around scores of houses that were built of wood, tarp and other discarded materials.

VETERANS: Vets can”t seem to get “an official diagnosis” and the benefits they earned from a grateful nation

The sniper with one of the longest kills in Afghanistan has a message for Joe Biden
By Wills Robinson For Dailymail.com

*** begin quote ***

Sergeant Nicholas Ranstad was twenty minutes into a nap when his spotter woke him up.

Four Taliban fighters were 1.28 miles away from the hut where the Army specialist sniper was living in Kunar Province in northeastern Afghanistan.

If the insurgents had looked more carefully, they would have seen white marks on boulders beside them. Randstad, a 28-year-old Florida native, had been using them for target practice for weeks.

*** and ***

But what happened to Ranstad in the years that followed has become all too common among veterans from the War on Terror.

That story is one the Pentagon doesn’t want you to hear.

Eleven years after killing the Taliban fighter with a once-in-a-lifetime shot, he walked into the home of a friend, Marine veteran Sean Miller.

Like Ranstad, Miller was a fellow veteran who struggled with PTSD.

He had shot himself in the head.

Ranstad called 911 to report a suicide, but ended up being arrested and taken into custody because of the flurry of emotion he felt in the seconds that followed.

When he saw his friend’s body he was so upset he fired four rounds into the floor of the house.

He then ripped down the Marine flag outside Sean’s home and draped it over his body.

The responding officers read him his Miranda rights and he ended up in jail for several days before being released on a $10,000 bond.

He was charged with reckless use of a firearm and firing it inside a dwelling, and it took 13 months to clear his name.

Ranstad admits his reaction in that moment of rage wasn’t right, but the situation showed signs of a crisis that runs far deeper.

Now 45 years old, married for 18 years and with a child, he has been out of the military for six years.

He was honorably discharged because of his own battle with PTSD and the ongoing effects of a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Thousands of veterans suffer from TBIs during their service, but trying to get an official diagnosis for them is a struggle.

It means veterans cannot get full benefits – even if they suffer symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, confusion, frayed memory, bad balance, racing hearts, paranoia, depression and random eruptions of rage or tears.

Ranstad’s story and his interactions with Sean before his tragic death are a painful reminder of the shortfalls of veteran care across the United States.

*** end quote ***

Maybe the young boys and girls, who don’t make it home, are the “lucky ones”.

Instead of help, they get politicians and bureaucrats and “stolen valor”.

Sorry, but vets should be standing tall for their fellow vets and not tolerate this abuse.

POLITICAL: Why aren’t Covid-19 cabal going to jail?

Bombshell emails show a top Fauci aide used his personal Gmail to ‘intentionally’ HIDE discussions about COVID origins… and would delete anything ‘incriminating’

  •  Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, revealed new documents from a whistleblower Thursday regarding federal official’s communications on the origins of COVID-19
  • They show that a senior advisor to Dr. Anthony Fauci tried to hide correspondence by using a Gmail account

New documents show that Dr. Anthony Fauci’s top U.S. health aide intentionally tried to hide his discussions about the origins of COIVD-19 by using his personal email.

Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, claimed a whistleblower provided him new bombshell materials obtained by DailyMail.com.

The unnamed whistleblower revealed emails showing that Dr. David Morens – Fauci’s top aide at the National Institutes of Health – allegedly used his personal Gmail account to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to skirt federal transparency laws.

Sounds like, if there was any fairness in political life, that several people would be facing jail and fines.  Makes the J6 treatment look laughable.

Any wonder why people don’t respect politicians and bureaucrats?

Time to shut down the CDC, FDA, FBI, DOJ, and the CIA!

Time to clean house and break up the USA as immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy.
