RANT: The four insideous taxes

Sunday, February 3, 2013
‎”“Florida is a state of choice,” said Thalius Hecksher, global development chief for Apex Fund Services, who moved many of his operations to Palm Beach. “It’s organically grown. There’s no need to drag people down here. It’s a zero-income-tax jurisdiction.”” http://buff.ly/WszLB0 Should have done it year ago!!!

‘Wall St.’ flees NY for tax-free Fla.

The city’s hedge-fund executives are flying south — and it’s not for vacation. An increasing number of financial firms, especially private equity and hedge funds, are fed up with…

Don’t forget FOUR insidious taxes that you don’t see: (1) the inflation tax — the FED has destroyed 99%of the value of the dollar in the last three or four decades; (2) the gas tax — gets added into every product sold and into every capital good used to make products, or deliver them; (3) the corporate tax — corps don’t pay tax, people do, they just pass it on; and (4) the estate tax — that turns productive assets into legal fees and schemes to avoid it as opposed to capital investment that improves society’s wealth — say goodbye to the family farm or a families’ small business. I’d assert that (a) the true tax rate is incalculable because it’s so well hidden; (B) it crushes the poor and middle class; and (c) some years we pay more than 100% of an annual year’s earnings in taxes! The loss of purchasing power means real savings goes down DESPITE rising account balances!!!!!!!!!

SERVICE: TWITTER hacked; change passwords

Saturday, February 2, 2013

Dear Twitter User:

As a precautionary security measure, we have reset your Twitter account password. Check your inbox for a separate email from Twitter with instructions on how to reset your password. If you don’t see an email, you can go to this page in our Help Center to request a password reset. More information is below.

We recently detected an attack on our systems in which the attackers may have had access to limited user information – specifically, your username, email address and anencrypted/salted version of your password (not the actual letters and numbers in your password). Further information about the attack can be found in this blog post.

Since your password has been reset, your old password will not work when you try to log into Twitter. We strongly encourage you to take this opportunity to select a strong password – at least 10 (but more is better) characters and a mixture of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols – that you are not using for any other accounts or sites. Using the same password for multiple online accounts significantly increases your odds of being compromised.

For more information about making your Twitter and other Internet accounts more secure, read our Help Center documentation or the FTC’s guide on passwords.

This attack was not the work of amateurs, and we do not believe it was an isolated incident. The attackers were extremely sophisticated, and we believe other companies and organizations have also been recently similarly attacked. For that reason we felt that it was important to reset your password and publicize this attack while we still gather information. We are also helping government and federal law enforcement in their effort to find and prosecute these attackers to make the Internet safer for all users.

GUNS: NO lists of honest gun owners. Ever!

Friday, February 1, 2013

Feinstein’s Gun Ban to Affect Millions of Law-abiding Gun Owners

via Gun Owners of America by Gun Owners of America on 1/31/13

But Universal Background Checks still pose the greatest threat to gun owners right now

It’s all about creating a database, so they can use it later.

There is no reason that they have any list of anything or anybody who has not had their day in court.

No secret “no fly” list.

No secret “Terrorists” list.

No secret “Drug money launderers” list.

SURVIVAL: Sandy creates at least one

What Made Me Begin Preparing for TEOTWAWKI, by Elizabeth in the Northeast

In six months the oldest of my boys leaves for the Marine Corps, and told me that for the first time since he enlisted he’s no longer afraid of what will happen with me and his younger brothers. He’s actually okay with really leaving now, because in two short months I’ve managed to squirrel away enough supplies to take care of all of us, and instead of believing that the powers that be will take care of me and mine in an emergency, I’m being proactive in taking care of me and mine. If it happens, when it happens, this Mama is more than ready.

RANT: A national disgrace

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

VA Suicide Prevention – source Associated Press

The Department of Veterans Affairs in Texas will conduct a

mortality study to track causes of death for veterans putting

together a model that could allow similar data to be gathered nationwide. The department’s decision came two

months after an Austin American-Statesman investigation

found that nearly as many Texas veterans died from prescription medicines as from suicide. The newspaper says it

used autopsy and toxicology reports, inquests and accident

reports from more than 50 state agencies to determine the

causes of death for 266 Texas veterans who had been receiving disability benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs when they died. The department says its study will

look at veterans who served in combat. The VA officials

declined to say how the study would be used nationally.
