Remember when teachers, cops, firemen, government employees, NPR, PBS, and Planned Parenthood blew up the stock market, wiped out most of our 401Ks, took trillions of dollars in taxpayer funded bailouts, spilled oil in the Gulf of Mexico, gave themselves billions of dollars in bonuses, and paid no taxes?

Yeah, me neither.

FJohn Reinke response:

Well, none of that litany is completely innocent. See “We, The Sheeple” allowed the politicians and bureaucrats to make a mess. And, Unions of Gooferment employees is by definition corrupt. (Union “negotiates” with politicians, with whom they give campaign cash, labor, and votes. Translation taxpayers get shafted.) Also, when these various frauds were being perpetrated, what did “We, The Sheeple” do? Nothing! So what’s the issue that will bring the folks to the streets. Then maybe something will change. RANT: Don’t increase the debt ceiling

Subject: Cap The Debt!

Do NOT raise the debt ceiling.

The simplest way to address the problem is to pressure the 535 to cut spending to where no increase is needed. All other attempts to financial discipline Congress have failed. Don’t raise the ceiling. Period! Magically, I bet the 535 will figure out a solution. If not, you ALL should resign, come home, and let someone else try. Bet everyone who wants to be reelected can figure that out!

Dear Mr. Reinke:

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding the federal government’s debt limit. I appreciate hearing from you on this critical issue and having the opportunity to respond.

The statutory debt limit was reached on May 16, 2011. Since then, the Department of the Treasury has been implementing extraordinary measures to temporarily extend its ability to borrow within the limit and postpone a default on the legal obligations of the United States. These extraordinary measures include redeeming existing Treasury securities held as investments in the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund and suspending state and local government treasury securities which are used by these entities to manage their outstanding debt expenses.

The national debt is the total amount of money borrowed in order to fulfill the requirements imposed by current and past Congresses and Presidents, during periods when both Republicans and Democrats were in control of different branches of government. These are legal obligations, and the responsibility for meeting the Nation’s obligations must be shared by both parties.

Increasing the debt limit would not authorize a single penny of new spending, nor would refusing to increase it reduce the obligations that our Nation has already incurred. Failing to raise the debt limit would force the Treasury to default on the legal obligations of the United States and case far more damage to the economy than the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009.

Treasury Secretary Geithner has said the consequences of a default include a substantial tax increase on all Americans, the devaluation of the U.S. dollar, an increase in borrowing costs, a decline in home values, and the potential loss of American jobs, retirement savings and economic security. Additionally, if the debt limit is not increased, payments on a broad range of benefits and U.S. obligations such as military salaries and veterans, Social Security, Medicare, unemployment and retirement benefits would be discontinued, limited or adversely affected.

I share your desire to see our country headed down a more sustainable fiscal path, and I am committed to making the tough choices that will reduce the gap between our commitments and our resources. I believe that reducing our deficit will require a balanced approach to spending cuts; reforming tax policies, such as closing corporate tax breaks that allow oil companies to avoid paying billions of dollars in taxes; and controlling health care costs. As your federal representative, I take very seriously my responsibility to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to enact sound fiscal policy that that invests in our future and protects the economic security our nation’s children.

Again, thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts on this important matter. Rest assured that I will keep your views in mind. I invite you to visit my website (http://menendez.senate.gov) to learn more about how I am standing up for New Jersey families in the United States Senate.

If your daughter wants to major in education at Brown University, she needs to know that the mid-career median pay for people with a degree in education is $54,900, according to PayScale.com — just $2,570 more than one year of tuition, fees, and room and board at Brown. With a starting salary of $35,100, she’ll have to work more than six years just to make back the $220,000 she’s likely to spend on that education, not to mention the income she lost while pursuing her education.

Compare that with a major in chemical engineering at Brown. The starting salary is $64,800 and the midcareer median pay is $108,000. It will take about 3.5 years of work to equal the cost of tuition. By comparison, Penn State’s degree costs $160,000 and thus takes fewer than 2.5 years of work. When you do the math with your child, you both may avoid overspending on a degree.

ROI on college has to be shopped for. My alma mater, Manhattan College (http://manhattan.edu) is in the top 100 on any list I’ve seen. Never seen it higher than #13. As with most stats, the devil is in the details. The children are going to have hard lives. imho. And, also imho, the Gooferment Skrules are not giving them the dikw (i.e., data, information, knowledge, wisdom) or the sppe (i.e., skills, policies, procedures, experiences) to succeed in the future. I bet that most parents have bigger problems on their minds. Unfortunately, if the parents don’t “enrich” their children’s education, then they won’t be happy with the outcome.

Egyptian Shaykh: ‘When I Want A Sex Slave, I Just Go To The Market And Choose The Woman Like And Purchase Her’
Posted by Al Mutarjim Jun 12th 2011 at 8:14 am

*** begin quote ***

Do you understand what I’m saying? Spoils, slaves, and prisoners are only to be taken in war between Muslims and infidels. Muslims in the past conquered, invaded, and took over countries. This is agreed to by all scholars–there is no disagreement on this from any of them, from the smallest to the largest, on the issue of taking spoils and prisoners. The prisoners and spoils are distributed among the fighters, which includes men, women, children, wealth, and so on.

When a slave market is erected, which is a market in which are sold slaves and sex-slaves, which are called in the Qur’an by the name milk al-yamin, “that which your right hands possess” [Qur’an 4:24]. This is a verse from the Qur’an which is still in force, and has not been abrogated. The milk al-yamin are the sex-slaves. You go to the market, look at the sex-slave, and buy her. She becomes like your wife, (but) she doesn’t need a (marriage) contract or a divorce like a free woman, nor does she need a wali. All scholars agree on this point–there is no disagreement from any of them.

One has to wonder how ½ the population of these countries put up with this slavery?

Women need to stand up for their rights.

Gay judge’s same-sex marriage ruling upheld
By LISA LEFF Associated Press

*** begin quote ***

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A federal judge has a message for those trying to salvage California’s gay marriage ban: Sure, the judge who threw out the measure last year is in a long-term relationship with a man, but he could still be fair to them.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge James Ware’s ruling Tuesday rejected arguments that former Chief Judge Vaughn Walker would potentially benefit from declaring the ban unconstitutional.

*** end quote ***

Sure, and you expected “justice” from a Gooferment court.

Then why was the judge’s home life kept secret?

You know that if it had been “out”, it would have been all over the press.

I “don’t have a dog in this fight” because as a little L libertarian I tout that the Goofermentshould have NO role in marriage.

Ann Coulter was on O’Reilly last night blathering about how “marriage has thousands of legal consequences” as if that justifies Gooferment intrusion into marriage.

Circular reasoning!

Gooferment “gives” marriage financial benefits, therefore it must “regulate” marriage.

The only reason we are in this problem is the racist “marriage license” laws in the first place.

Prior to the Welfare / Warfare state, when taxes were low and government didn’t intrude, there was no need for a Gooferment “license”!

Ron Paul said it in the Tuesday night Republican Presidential debate, leave marriage to the Churches and the People.

Unless it’s about control and plunder.

Argh!

If the Gooferment wants, let it treat the “family” as a Subchapter S corporation. Them’s that want to be a Gooferment corporation and get tax benefits of such “incorporation”, let them volunteer.

Of course, that would highlight the Gooferment trying to pick winners and losers by bribing them with taxpayer money.

And why do we allow that and let them pander to the electorate that they are “pro-famiiy”?

And OBama commits $20 Billion to Arabs…money that we are borrowing to “lend” to the Arab nations that are in trouble.)

I’ve been warning for months that Egypt, Syria, Tunisia and other Arab oil-importing countries face a total economic meltdown (see Food and failed Arab states, Feb 2, and The hunger to come in Egypt, May 10). Now the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has confirmed my warnings.

The bin Laden hunter: ex-CIA man had bin Laden in his sights 10 times
Terrorist hunter Michael Scheuer tells Duncan Gardham and Iain Hollingshead how he was repeatedly ordered not to stop the al-Qaeda chief.
9:00AM BST 21 May 2011

*** begin quote ***

There are not many sane people who can say with confidence that, had a president of America only listened to them, they could have saved $1.3 trillion and many hundreds of thousands of lives. Michael Scheuer can.

During his 22 years in the CIA – three and a half as head of a 18-man Osama bin Laden unit – he told his bosses at Langley on 10 occasions that he had a clear opportunity to kill or capture the terrorist chief. On all 10 he was told to hold his fire.

To look at Scheuer, 59, bespectacled, bearded and apparently every inch the academic and author he has become, you would not guess at his espionage past. The unit he led between 1995 and 1999 was codenamed Alec station, after his son, but it was nicknamed the “Manson family”, after the criminal Charles Manson, for the zeal with which it approached its task.

*** and ***

Three months later British and American special forces were at Tora Bora, bin Laden’s heavily defended cave complex in Afghanistan, when they heard his voice over a captured radio.

It was the last time they had a fix on him for nine years. The Afghans let bin Laden walk out of Tora Bora and head for Pakistan during a ceasefire.

Scheuer continued to act as an adviser to the bin Laden unit until 2004 when he resigned in disgust at the way in which the public was being lied to over the opportunities to capture the terrorist leader.

His books have pointed out the many failings of American policy in the Middle East, not least their inability to address the other causes of western unpopularity in the region while portraying a myopic image of bin Laden as a lunatic.

*** end quote ***

There’s no doubt the Gooferment, politicians, and bureaucrats manipulate “We, The Sheeple”.

The Perils of “Accidental” U.S. Citizenship
Mark Nestmann (May 26, 2011)

*** begin quote ***

Compared to most other countries, it’s comparatively easy to acquire U.S. citizenship.

You become a U.S. citizen merely by birth within the geographic boundaries of the United States. In most cases, you’re also a U.S. citizen if you were born outside the United States, and at least one parent was a U.S. citizen or green card holder. In both these examples, citizenship is automatic. Generally, you need not take any affirmative action in order to acquire or retain U.S. nationality. Only in the case of naturalization after an extended period of legal residence in the United States do you need to make a petition for U.S. citizenship and passport.

The ease of acquiring U.S. citizenship by birth means that there are hundreds of thousands of “accidental” U.S. citizens roaming the world. Many of these individuals don’t realize they’re U.S. citizens.

*** end quote ***

A stunning disaster for this fellow. And, for us, as well.

We need to consider what makes “a citizen”.

Not that that is like to happen.

RANT: Arnold and my apologies to the pigs

Friday, May 27, 2011

http://www.keywestlou.com/2011/05/what-beautiful-day-fantastic-weather-we.html

My Life in Key West

THURSDAY, MAY 19, 2011

*** begin quote ***

One issue I am going to get into is sex. The Arnold Schwartzenneger situation has permeated the media the last few days.

I am 75 years old. I have lived through much of the sexual cultural mores in the United States. I can recall the 1950s when females were reluctant to have sex outside of marriage for fear of pregnancy. Then came the birth control pill in the l960s. The sexual world changed! Many women discovered their sexual drives were comparable to mens’. They could enjoy without fear of pregnancy.

At the beginning of the post pill discovery era, married women were still less prone to have sex outside their marriage. Such has changed over the years. Statistics now show a growing trend in women of all ages who cheat outside marriage.

I am neither being moralistic nor judging. However, one thing has become clear to me over the years. Marital infidelity is a two way street. For every man who pulls his fly down, there is a woman who pulls her panties down!

I have two points. First, lets get off the man’s back. Women are playing big time, also. Second, the brief history I have set forth clearly shows a changing sex culture over the last 60 years. Understand that change and recall it before coming down on the man alone.

Excuse me for being Biblical, but let he/she who is without sin cast the first stone.

I will concede that there still remain those without sin. One stroke of the brush does not paint all persons.

*** end quote ***

Maybe I am cranky because I missed the sexual revolution. And, maybe I am moralistic and judgmental. But I think that Arnold is yet another example of powerful men being pigs. (And that’s really insulting to the pigs.)

Where are the inspirational men of this age?

Where are the Saint Josephs, who pick up their burden and carry it courageously, uncomplaining, with dignity even to death?

Where are the heros?

A powerful man fornicates with a servant. Remember all the outrage when DNA showed that Jefferson fathers a child with his slave. At least, that was considered acceptable conduct in that era.

What lessons are being taught to future generations?

Each week, I read obits for my fellow Jasper alumni. More often than not, they have 40, 50, or 60 year marriages. Those guys are heroic. As any “happily” married man can tell you.

From a morality perspective, the family has throughout time been the model for raising children. Not a village, not a single mother, but a totally committed man and woman. (The jury is still out on a gay couple. But, if our moral objective is a safe and loving home for children who would otherwise be in an orphanage or foster care, then we have to open minded. Besides, as long as some one doesn’t use force of fraud on me, then I should MYOB.)

These men, (or if the women do it), are despicable.

And, we’re going to flounder on the rocks of the sexual libertine movement. We need the population growth that birth control and abortion prevents. How is Japan doing with an aging nation? How are India and China doing without enough young girls to satisfy all the young boys?

Now, I don’t know if it’s God, the Universe, or evolution, but we should mess with what works unless we are “real sure” of the consequences.

Argh!

Now I know I am not with out “sin”, but I do know that the old Catholic school Brothers and Nuns were right about “that’s for when you’re married”. It was the era of chaste women and gallant men. And, “Catholic girls start much too late”.

Even in my first working days, I heard “don’t dip your pen in company ink”.

Maybe I’m the dino, but I can’t see how these men are anything but pigs. And, again, my apologies to the pigs.

RANT: BONES has officially jumped the shark

Friday, May 20, 2011

In last night’s season finale.

FOX threw away a perfectly cute show.

In the prior week, the lead characters were chastely in bed together. The was no sex scene. The hero was comforting a crying heroine in a poignant moment. (But, your crack TV show critic suspected the shark was being jumped.) There was even a cute scene where the nerdy leading lady described that she hopped into bed with the hunk. It could have been an I lUV LUVY moment where she meant consolation and everyone took it for sex. (But I suspected the worst. My favorite show was circling the drain. I’m a half-empty guy.)

This week, the heroine asserts she’s preggers by the hunk. (Thus sticking the landing after jumping the shark.)

(They could have milked this series like a daytime soap. The one thing the show had going was the star crossed lovers. Everyone knew they were in love but them. Now the writers have destroyed it.)

Needless to say in Hollywood writing circles, the “Secular Progressives” have them NOT married.

Sorry to say, this show is no longer a favorite having descended into the mundane tawdry level of Hollywood trash.

(It’s like Jenna Elfman doing that sleazy sitcom where she gets preggers in a one night stand by a college kid. I thought she was the next Lucy — Ball; not Lawless. No one would mistake Darhma for Wonder Woman. But, these Hollywood type don’t understand their entertainment strengths. She was a female Rob Petrie. Argh!)

OH well. DO all idols have clay feet.

Wish I could write sexual tension like the writers did in the first season of BONES. Wish I could act like they did. I know what it was — magic.

It was akin to Hepburn and Tracy. Wrapped in a semi horror movie of CSI.

Argh!

The writers blew it.

More extensives tax reforms needed in New Jersey

*** begin quote ***

My sense is that the system has collapsed. I’ve been complaining that the state’s government structure was unsustainable and broken, but it has been functioning. That seems no longer to be the case. The governor is proposing a tool kit that contains some nominally useful tools but still leaves the basic set of problems in place. A more comprehensive structural change is needed that includes a review of the corporate and income tax rates, the inefficiency of having 566 towns, nearly 600 school districts and more than 1,400 total taxing districts, and a frank discussion about priorities.

New Jersey continues to provide some useful and necessary services. We could save money if we were willing to further gut our social safety net, but then we would put our residents in the same position as my friend Lynn, who moved to North Carolina and has now been kicked off the unemployment insurance roll because the governor down there views unemployment insurance as an incentive to laziness. That seems a dubious tradeoff.

*** end quote ***

Unfortunately, there is some academic research that correlates the end of “insurance” to reemployment.

The Gooferment should not be in the “social safety net” business. Their job is to prevent force or fraud on “the folks”. Like a giant referee.

The Gooferment really can’t do ANYTHING well. Or cost effectively.

Does it make any sense to do “charity” by giving loads of money to this piggish organization that will spend most of it on itself.

True charity comes from individuals helping other individuals. In churches, fraternal organizations, or “small” charities. (Note the UnitedWay pays it’s executives way too well. But the Salvation Army works better.)

We need to DOWNSIZE DC and shrink Trenton.

We need lower taxes and more liberty.

With bin Laden gone, there is no reason for our presence in the region – unless indeed it was all about oil, nation-building, and remaking the Middle East and Central Asia.

RANT: Mother’s Day; Mothers, globally, end all wars now

Julia Ward Howe on Mother’s Day
Posted by Lew Rockwell on May 5, 2011 09:55 PM

*** begin quote ***

Howe, author of the murderous Battle Hymn of the Republic—written to glorify Lincoln’s war—had the honesty and decency to reject war after she saw its results. In 1870, she advocated the institution of a Mother’s Day. Here is her radical and moving proclamation:

Arise, then, women of this day!

Arise, all women who have hearts,

Whether our baptism be of water or of tears!

Say firmly:

“We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies,

Our husbands will not come to us, reeking with carnage, for caresses and applause.

Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn

All that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.

We, the women of one country, will be too tender of those of another country

To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.”

From the bosom of the devastated Earth a voice goes up with our own.

It says: “Disarm! Disarm! The sword of murder is not the balance of justice.”

Blood does not wipe out dishonor, nor violence indicate possession.

As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil at the summons of war,

Let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel.

Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.

Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means

Whereby the great human family can live in peace,

Each bearing after his own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar,

But of God.

In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask

That a general congress of women without limit of nationality

May be appointed and held at someplace deemed most convenient

And at the earliest period consistent with its objects,

To promote the alliance of the different nationalities,

The amicable settlement of international questions,

The great and general interests of peace.

I said something like this in “CHURCH 10●19●62”:

“Adjutant?”

“Yes, Miss Marie!”

“Ahh, Miss Abigail again; bucking for promotion” she teased. “Well, would you please have the Duty Officer to extend my compliments to Miss June, Master Sam, and Brother Kevin and inquire if they can join me in an hour?”

“Yes, Miss Marie. Thank you, Miss Marie. You’re my hero.”

“Isn’t it heroine?”

“No, Miss Marie, in our new world run by women, there will be no sex discrimination. We control the box.” With no hint of self- consciousness or shame.

“Dear, that’s not a nice way to say it. And, box is very crude. I’m sorry I used it but I was … incensed that war should happen. Maybe you could say ‘we control the future generations’?”

“OK, but those balls will be blue before I let my man start another war.”

Knowing she’d done all she could, Marie said, “When this is all over, we should talk my dear. We should really talk. Now away with you. Carefully mind you.”

Not very nice. But then neither are all these Mothers’ sons and daughters dying for the whims of politicians and bureaucrats!

What better way to celebrate Mothers’ Day?

Bring the girls and boys home.

RANT: No “mileage” tax. No new taxes, PERIOD. Cut spending!

Obama administration floats draft plan to tax cars by the mile
By Pete Kasperowicz – 05/05/11 07:45 AM ET

*** begin quote ***

The Obama administration has floated a transportation authorization bill that would require the study and implementation of a plan to tax automobile drivers based on how many miles they drive.

The plan is a part of the administration’s Transportation Opportunities Act, an undated draft of which was obtained this week by Transportation Weekly.

The White House, however, said the bill is only an early draft that was not formally circulated within the administration.

Absolutely not!

This is a trial balloon.

We have to stop it with a big reaction. Pop it right now.

RANT: Staged photos?

How Photos from Obama’s Speech on Bin Laden’s Death Were Staged

By Ujala Sehgal on May 4, 2011 2:08 PM

*** begin quote ***

There is a fascinating piece at Poynter that describes how since the Reagan era (and possibly before) it has been the standard operating procedure that during a live presidential address, like the one President Obama gave announcing the death of Osama bin Laden, still cameras are not allowed to photograph the actual event.

*** and ***

The problem, according to Poynter, is that while many newspapers disclose that the photo they use is a re-enactment, some do not. And publishing these photos goes against the National Press Photographers Association Code of Ethics, which includes this relevant passage: “Resist being manipulated by staged photo opportunities.”

We had no idea there was an ethics code for photojournalists, and we’re thrilled to find out there is one. How dare the White House force them to abandon it! We feel shocked and lied to! This practice of re-staging must come to an end.

Please give me a break. Everything politicians do is scripited, controlled and focus grouped.

They probably follow a script when they are sitting on a commode.

RANT: BHO44 kills OBL and rejoicing

Judge Andrew Napolitano

Did President Obama have the moral or legal authority to kill Usama Bin Laden?

# # # # #

As pro-life pro-choice little L libertarian, I’m not sure this (i.e., BHO44 killing OBL) is a good thing.

And certainly not something to cheer about.

An eye for an eye …

And it doesn’t bring back those lost on 9-11!

No, this isn’t a happy day.

RANT: “Cotton Candy” wedding distracts “We, The Colonists” from our problems

News Alert from The Wall Street Journal

Prince William and Kate Middleton were pronounced husband and wife Friday, after five months of breathless hype and anticipation for Britain’s royal wedding, a ceremony that was expected to be watched by as many as two billion people.

As the couple said “I do,” the crowd on The Mall erupted into cheers, the ceremony coming through on loudspeakers.

About 1,900 guests were in attendance at Westminster Abbey, including soccer star David Beckham and musician Elton John.

Everyone loves a good circus.

And maybe the era of Princess Diana is now over.

We’ll see if Kate can become ½ the power that Diana was.

I hope that Kate has a better outcome.

But it’s all just silly.

Maybe tomorrow, “We, The People” can get back to the serious issues at hand — End the Fed, Bring the Troops Home, and cut the spending.

But, today, it seems “Royal Watching” is a international delusion.

Why am I paying for this? Nuke the Department of Education and such waste. I’d like an IPAD2! Why do I have to pay for someone else to get one?

RANT: The Gooferment’s role in “healthcare”

Friday, April 22, 2011

Don’t Let the Republicans kill Medicare!

act.credoaction.com

*** begin quote ***

Republicans are pushing hard on a plan to end Medicare as we know it. They’re trying to replace it with a ludicrous privatized system where seniors are given vouchers to try to buy coverage from private, for-profit insurance companies–the very same companies notorious for denying them coverage.

*** end quote ***

And, it’s a lousy system. Have you seen the stats on how much goes to fraud and waste. Never mind the “personal mobility” scams. Sorry, but Medicaid is the big hole in the Titanic and Medicare is the second biggest. Now we can stand around and listen to the orchestra play “Nearer My God To Thee”. OR, we can debate how to fix this disaster better, faster, and cheaper. Personally, I never want to have the Gooferment as having any role in healthcare. It can either be the referee or a player in the game. Not both. In the case of Medicare, the Gooferment wants to be the doctor, the insurance company, and the referee. Argh! And, it has a vested financial interest in the decision in both Social Security, Medicare, Standard of Care, and the “overhead in medical care” born by the Gooferment. Still want the Gooferment deciding about care?
