GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Why not make it a “standard treatment”?

Does Intravenous Vitamin C Help Terminal Cancer Patients?
By: Dr. Michael GregerJune 23, 2017

*** begin quote ***

Critics understandably attacked the study for using after-the-fact controls. One can see how this could introduce bias. If researchers consciously or unconsciously chose control group patients who were sicker than the treatment group patients, the control group patients would die sooner than the treatment group patients, but it would have nothing to do with the treatment; the control group folks may have just started out in a worse place. Indeed, there is evidence that is what happened: A full 20 percent of the control group died within a few days after being declared terminal compared to none in the treatment group, which really does seem fishy.

Nevertheless, the trial was successful in finally convincing the National Cancer Institute to fund randomized controlled trials—performed by the prestigious Mayo Clinic, no less. What did they find? Stay tuned.

*** end quote ***

Why can’t this just be immediately administered? Vitamin C has to be cheap. (Maybe that’s why there’s no impetus to use. No big profits to be made.)

If me or mine has cancer, I’d insist on this treatment.

How bad could it be?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: FDR knew about the Shoah

Thursday, June 1, 2017

On June 1st, 1942, seven months after the extermination of prisoners began, the Warsaw underground newspaper, the Liberty Brigade, made the public announcement of the gassing of tens of thousands of Jews at Chelmno, a Nazi-operated death camp in Poland. The story came from a young man, Emanuel Ringelblum, who had escaped the Chelmno death camp after being forced to bury bodies as they were thrown out of the gas vans. The West now knew the horrific truth about the slaughter of Jews.

So don’t believe any Gooferment propaganda that FDR didn’t know!

So why didn’t we bomb the railways?

And, why didn’t we catch all the Nazis?

The ‘lucky ones’
Fifty years after Vietnam’s bloodiest battles, veterans gather for what could be a final reunion
Story by Michael E. Ruane Published on April 29, 2017

*** begin quote ***

1st Lt. Victor David Westphall III , 28, of Albuquerque, killed May 22, 1968, at An Dinh in a battle that claimed 25 Marines, 12 from his company. After his death his parents and brother built a memorial to him in rural Angel Fire, N.M., among the earliest such tributes to the fallen veterans of Vietnam.

*** end quote ***

Read the list of the young men in the sidebar of this story.

Then, tell me how you stand on “war”. Any war!

And, when you get all done, tell the “chicken hawk” politicians and bureaucrats to get us out of the Middle East and turn the Pentagon into a true “Department of Defense”.

I was lucky. I was state-side for my “term of enlistment”. Of my two best friends at Manhattan Prep, one went and came back different and one evaded dying in highway wreck. The saddest part is that I never saw my “evader” buddy and he died a few miles from where I was stationed.

Makes me sad. But I’d never criticize the folks who went or the folks who evaded. I WILL criticize all the phonies — “chicken hawks”, politicians and bureaucrats who will send youngster to die for their vanity, the Military Industrial Complex for profiting on those bodies, and the ersatz astroturf “anti-war” crowd that comes out only when there is an R in the White House. A plague on all your houses.

I reiterate the concept, that I heard best stated by video / podcaster Jason Stapleton https://jasonstapleton.com, “I’m not anti-war; I’m pro-peace”. He describes what war should be and it’s ugly. A lot of people will die. I agree that we should be “pro-peace” up until: our children’s lives or ours are at risk, our liberties are threatened, or there is NO other path to take. Then, if you’re at “war”, then be at “war”. Not this “shadow war” that “We, The Sheeple” don’t care about, want to pay for, and most certainly don’t want to fight in.

“Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago’s death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to.” Colonel Jessep in A Few Good Men played by Jack Nicholson

So too, if you’re so all hot and bothered to go to war, as Jason Stapleton say, “go buy a ticket, grab a gun, and go” and then you can urge — not force — other to go to. Be very lonely out there when you have to stand up and fight for what you believe in. Much easier to have the Gooferment send other people’s children to die in your stead. All so you can be “patriotic” and “though on defense”?

About the worst epithet that I can label someone with is “chicken hawk”.

Argh!

Let’s be like Switzerland and MYOB!

Dona Nobis Pacem

Requiescat In Pacem, you fallen heroes.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) takes $22,838,173

State Dept. Redacts Big Chunks of $22.8 Mil Contract to Resettle Muslim Refugees
MAY 23, 2017

*** begin quote ***

This has become a heated issue for the government which may explain why other agencies aren’t as forthcoming in providing specific figures, thus abusing the (b)(4) exemption. The State Department, for instance, redacted huge portions of records involving contracts with VOLAGs to resettle refugees from mostly Muslim countries. The files illustrate the disparate redaction treatment given by different government agencies to the same types of records. The State Department paid a VOLAG called United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) a ghastly  $22,838,173 in one year to resettle refugees that came mostly from Muslim countries. Unlike HHS, the agency redacted information related to what the USCCB charged the government for things like furniture, personnel, equipment and other costs associated with contracts to resettle refugees. Why did one government agency hand over the same types of records that another agency claims are trade secrets? Judicial Watch is challenging the State Department’s (b)(4) exemption and will provide updates as they become available.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Time to shut down the FBI?

Why the FBI Has Always Been a Political Tool of Suppression
The Daily Bell
May 15, 2017

*** begin quote ***

There is a dangerous myth that permeates the political arena that government agencies and bureaucrats can somehow be non-political and independent.

*** and ***

Politico’s article could be summed up like this:

The FBI has long been an enemy of the citizens of the United States and abused their authority by suppressing dissent and intimidating political opposition to the government. But now, the FBI risks becoming the exclusive tool of one political party, at which point others in government and politics may be targeted! Can’t we all agree that the proper target of the FBI is the peasantry and not the political classes?

The FBI has always been political, and always will be. Trump’s choice will not be inherently better or worse for the American people than picking someone who is not a politician. But Trump’s choice will be pretty scary for those in the government on the left.

*** end quote ***

I doubt that any entity in the Gooferment, at any level, is “non-political”.

That’s why we’d best be served by not having such entities to exist at all.

Sure MAYBE the FBI, thinking back to the Jimmie Stewart FBI movie, catches spies, bank robbers, and serial killers. But how much damage can one serial killer do? 100 people, maybe. How many has the Gooferment killed and ruined how many lives?

As someone, unlikely to be “targeted” by the Gooferment, I’m afraid for my crazy little L libertarians, the whistleblowers, and just plain old good folk who run afoul of some diktat or “regulation”.

Time to tear down these power centers.

Plus, nowadays an admittedly minor afterthought, where in the Constitution does the Federal Gooferment get to have an FBI, CIA, BATFE, TSA, etc. etc. etc. ????????

Just asking?

6 Months In Jail For Selling … Cookies?
Written by: Daniel Jennings  May 4, 2017

A ruling from a judge may be needed to sell homemade baked goods in Wisconsin.

Three home bakers in the state are challenging a state law that can punish people who sell homemade cookies, brownies and other treats with up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Lafayette County Judge Duane Jorgensen will rule on May 31 if Wisconsin’s ban on the sale of homemade baked goods is unconstitutional, the Associated Press reported. The challenge to the home-baking ban was brought by the Institute for Justice.

India Liquor Ruling Adds Twist to Sales Maze
Saabira Chaudhuri at saabira.chaudhuri@wsj.com

*** begin quote ***

GOA, India—An increasingly hard-line view on alcohol in India is threatening sales for global spirits makers as a new ruling forces many local sellers to shut down or adapt.

In an attempt to reduce alcohol-fueled road accidents, India’s Supreme Court banned the sale of booze within 500 meters (547 yards) of national and state highways starting this month, a decision that affects liquor stores, bars, restaurants and hotels.

*** and ***

Still, state governments depend heavily on liquor as a revenue stream, and some have moved to have state highways reclassified as roads in response to the ban. Indian liquor retailers have taken their own creative measures.

One outlet in the coastal state of Kerala has constructed a maze patrons must walk through, which puts the door more than 500 meters from a highway, according to local media reports. Others have moved their entrances, forcing people to drive more than 500 meters. The Supreme Court ruling hasn’t clarified whether the distance is to be measured as the crow flies or otherwise, leaving open a loophole that retailers and bars are determined to exploit.

“We Indians always find a way out,” said Shivkaran Singh, who expects that Circus, a restaurant he owns in Gurugram, will be allowed to serve liquor again after the entrance to the site housing it and about 30 other pubs and restaurants was moved.

*** end quote ***

Like I always RANT, “the Gooferment can’t keep drugs out of their prisons; what makes them try in a free society”!

Here’s another example of that principle. Humans are the “cockroaches” of diktats. Tell someone “can’t”, and EVEN IF they don’t want to do it, they’ll try just to see if it can be done.

It’s like “Don’t think of a pink elephant.” It’s impossible not too. Laugh!

I do like the idea of a maze.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Anyone visit the “new” Medicare site?

Thursday, April 20, 2017

https://www.mymedicare.gov/signout.aspx

They have updated their security requirements.

NewImage

Now are you telling me that you think that the “average” poor old senior citizen on a fixed income has to create a NEW unique password that’s hard to remember, not anything useful or memorable, and not one of the last nine?

Let me guess the most popular password set?

(password$1, password$2, password$3, password$4, password$5, password$6, password$7, password$8, password$9, password10)

Of course, that’s MUCH better than what LastPass would generate for me (i.e., triangumebabelinolowlysi, amplaintemproaramoniveri, tiongerystiorwarancemans, … … …). Well you get the idea!

NewImage

Look at those password requirements.

A 16 character limit? I always use LastPass’ 24 option.

Add a number and one of a few special characters? In technical terms, it increase the entropy from (26**16) to (44**16) where as my LastPass choice would be (26**24). Who’s password is better?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: What the Gooferment did once, it can do again

That Time The U.S. Gov’t Rationed Food – And Threatened Jail For Those Who Didn’t
Written by: Tricia Drevets  Extreme Survival

*** begin quote ***

If you were asked to picture people lined up at a grocery store with ration books in their hands, you would probably imagine people in war-torn Europe. However, during World War II, government-issued ration books were a very real part of American life.To distribute food and other items that could be in short supply due to the war effort and also to create a sense of unity, the federal Office of Price Administration (OPA) established a rationing system for the nation’s citizens. That Time The U.S. Gov’t Rationed Food – And Threatened Jail For Those Who Didn’t The government then launched a promotional campaign for the ration books that included widespread radio ads, posters and pamphlets. The campaign appealed to Americans’ patriotic sense of duty, and it warned that non-compliance could be met with stiff fines and even jail time.

*** and ***

To save on ration points, for instance, many families switched from butter to Oleomargarine. To save on meat consumption, shoppers bought the new Kraft Macaroni and Cheese packaged product. Sales of cottage cheese skyrocketed from 110 million pounds in 1930 to 500 million pounds during the rationing program, as people used cottage cheese as a meat substitute in meals.

Although World War II ended in 1945, the rationing program continued until 1946. Gradually, life – and grocery shopping – returned to normal and the average American’s consumption of meat, butter and sugar rose to pre-rationing levels.

*** end quote ***

I had three thoughts on reading this:

(1) Imagine the corruption that went on. I can’t believe that the rich and connected suffered the indignity of “rationing” like “We, The Sheeple”.

(2) I wager that the big objective was to appeal to “to Americans’ patriotic sense of duty”. Have to get the Sheeple to want to go to the slaughter house.

(3) We know that margarine, a trans fat, makes for heart disease. As does the now “standard american diet”. And as far as “mac and cheese”, that made Kraft rich, we know that they’d be better off eating the box. So, what were the health effects and mortality / morbidity impacts of the “rationed diet”. Wonder how many were killed or crippled at home versus casualties on the battlefield. That would be an interesting number to know.

Argh!

The Gooferment is ALWAYS immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy.

Riverdale underpass falls under radar

The underpass located at the Henry Hudson Parkway East and Manhattan College Parkway is a ‘no man’s land’ and receives limited city services. The area has debris and broken tree limbs. After the March 14 snowstorm, the sidewalk at the underpass was not shoveled.

Flooding and streets caked with mud after a heaving rain or snowfall. Broken tree limbs laying around.

Litter scattered along the hilly portion of the wooded area.

Those are some of the concerns residents shared about the underpass and overpass at the Henry Hudson Parkway East and Manhattan College Parkway near West 242nd Street.

“Welcome to ‘no man’s land,’” said David Sondheim, who lives near the underpass and attends the nearby Young Israel of Riverdale synagogue one block away. “You come back here on days where we have rain, andthis whole sidewalk is covered in mud. The puddle goes at least to the middle of the road.

“From the sidewalk, 15 to 20 feet out … it gets pretty deep. It doesn’t drain anywhere. I think the mud and the leaves block the sewer.”

When the sidewalk gets muddy, icy or snowy, it’s not cleaned up, Sondheim said, making it difficult for people to walk there.

“This is an Orthodox synagogue. People are Sabbath observant,” he said. “They don’t drive, but people walk over here to get there. It just makes it difficult,” said Sondheim.

Sondheim contacted 311 — a number used to report non-emergency issues in order for the city to make repairs — but it did him no good. Without a specific street address, 311’s computer system could not register the complaint.

*** end quote ***

Maybe the “City” should adopt what3words?

https://map.what3words.com/decent.eagles.beams

The what3words label “decent.eagles.beams” identifies EXACTLY where the problem is!

Yeah, I know the folks in Mongolia can use Dominos to delver pizza to the nomadic tribesman, who have no fixed address, but it takes real skill to be so stupid as to not know where the problem is.

Maybe I should apply to be the “City’s” IT manager for 311?

Now I know readers of my blog are used to me just lambasting the Federal Gooferment, but it’s Gooferment at all levels that deserve our scorn.

For those tin foil hats who think there is a vast “jewish conspiracy”, please take note. If there was one, it surely would have addressed this complaint toot’s sweet. Argh!

I especially like the “helpful” 311 operator referring the caller to Sanitation, Parks, and who knows what other departments of the “City” to get them to do their jobs. Laugh! Somehow, non-governmental entities don’t seem to have this problem. Go to McD’s a gripe about the restroom and the manager will be on it in heartbeat. Someone will be in deep too do.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Social Security IS now a Ponzi scheme (and it always was)

“Social Security ” to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats. Here’s a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Montana …

I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is!…….

*** end quote ***

I’D AGREE BECAUSE I’M <past tense synonym for urine output> off too!

*** begin quote ***

“Hey …Alan, let’s get a few things straight!!!

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole (tit) for FIFTY YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).

3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would make Bernie Madoff proud.

4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and “your ilk” pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67. NOW, you and your “shill commission” are proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now “you morons” propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because “you idiots” mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal our money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you “incompetent bastards” spent our money so
profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.

To add insult to injury, you label us “greedy” for calling “bullshit” to your incompetence. Well, Captain Bullshit, I have a few questions for YOU:

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?

2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?

3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?

4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?

It is you, Captain Bullshit, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the “greedy” ones. It is you and your fellow nutcase thieves who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers.

And for what? Votes and your job and retirement security at our expense, you lunk-headed, leech. That’s right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic, political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it. And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bitch.

P.S. And stop calling Social Security benefits “entitlements”. WHAT AN INSULT!!!!

I have been paying in to the SS system for 45 years “It’s my money” – give it back to me the way the system was designed and stop patting yourself on the back like you are being generous by doling out these monthly checks .

*** end quote ***

You were robbed. And, the politicians and bureaucrats escaped scott free.

So sad that “We, The Sheeple” don’t recognize it.

If an insurance exec did it, they’d be in jail.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Berkeley Removes 20,000* Free Online Videos

Berkeley Removes 20,000* Free Online Videos to Comply with Insane Department of Justice Ruling
In the name of equality, destroy your valuable public resource
Robby Soave|Mar. 7, 2017 8:31 am

*** begin quote ***

The handicappers general in the Department of Justice strike again: the University of California, Berkeley, is deleting a massive amount of free, online content in order to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Berkeley previously housed an online library consisting of more than 20,000 videos of lectures. These videos were free and accessible to the public. But they are free no longer: next week, administrators will withdraw access to anyone who isn’t a Berkeley student or professor.

Why? Because the federal government left them no other choice.

Two employees of Gallaudet University—a school for the deaf in Washington, D.C.—filed a complaint with DOJ alleging that Berkeley’s online content was inaccessible to the hearing-disabled community. After looking into the matter, DOJ determined that Berkeley had indeed violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to Inside Higher Ed.

*** and ***

I can’t imagine the authors of the ADA intended to destroy a valuable public resource because it wasn’t perfectly accessible to all, but here we are. Taking the quality out of equality: that’s clumsy federal regulation for you.

*** end quote ***

Hard to imagine the logic that this represents.

The “authors of the ADA” have to bear the brunt of the “Unintended Consequences” of STUPID legislation!

I have heard and blogged about the ADA absurdity — like the drivers exam had to be given in Braille.

We really need a Gooferment department of common sense to review all Gooferment actions that impact the public. Sadly, I hate to ask for more bureaucrats but maybe we could have a blue ribbon panel composed of $1/year grumpy fat old white guy injineers, grade school children, and retired poor old senior citizens on a fixed incomes to “staff” this new “department”.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Time to nuke the DHS; What IS DOD for?

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

https://mises.org/blog/four-agencies-abolish-along-dept-education

Four Agencies to Abolish along with the Dept. of Education
02/23/2017Ryan McMaken

*** begin quote ***

One: The Department of Homeland Security, $51 Billion

Somehow, the United States managed to get along for more than 225 years before this Department was created by Congress and the Bush Administration in 2002.

The Department quickly became a way for the federal government to spread federal taxpayer dollars to state and local law enforcement agencies, thus gaining greater control at the local level. The DHS administers a number of grant programs that have helped to purchase a variety of new toys for law enforcement groups including new weapons, and new technologies. Also included in this is the infamous military surplus program which is supplies tanks and other military equipment to police forces everywhere from big cities to small rural towns. The crime-free town of Keene, New Hampshire made sure its police received a tank through this program as have many larger cities.

When the Orlando gunman opened fire in the Pulse nightclub in 2016, the police eventually rolled up in a tank — which did nothing to stem the bloodshed inside the club.

Police claim they need these half-million-dollar vehicles from the DHS to deal with civil unrest. Never mind, of course, that every state already has a National Guard force specifically for that purpose.

While the Department was created in response to the 9/11 attacks, the Department does nothing to address anything like a 9/11-style attack, and all the agencies that were supposed to provide intelligence on such attacks — the FBI for instance — already exist in other departments and continue to enjoy huge budgets.
DHS also includes agencies that already existed in other departments before, such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the agencies that handle immigration and customs. Those agencies should either be returned to the departments they came from or be abolished.

And, few would miss the Transportation Security Administration — an agency that has never caught a single terrorist, but has smuggled at least $100 million worth of cocaine.

*** end quote ***

I guess no one sees the irony of using the word “homeland” which was used throughout the reign of Hitler and throughout World War II.

Doesn’t the “Department of Defense” include the mission of DHS? And if not, why not?

Seems like we could “repurpose a lot of Human Resources” (Isn’t that what corporations say before layoffs?), very quickly and easily.

Time to start with a BIG chopping block.

DHS, and with it TSA, was stupid “knee jerk” reaction to 9/11. And it has proved just how inept a response it was. Argh!

I continually reiterate my favorite question: “Can anyone name a Gooferment program that accomplishes its goals? Never mind how inefficient and ineffective they are, they go one forever — like perpetual motion machines.

Argh!

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Bryan Lowman got screwed by the Army

Friday, February 17, 2017

<broken link>

In this link <broken link>, American Legion National Commander Schmidt has made me aware of the plight of Bryan Lowman.

This is unacceptable to me as a vet and an AL member.

I’ve asked my two US Senators and my Congresswomen—

Jeanne Shaheen @SenatorShaheen

Margaret “Maggie” Hassan  @senatorhassan

Ann McLane Kuster @RepAnnieKuster

——

— to respond: “Please advise what you plan to do to correct this inequity. FYI I am a registered NH voter and vote religiously. I will be posting this and any response from you on my blog and at any post I visit.”

I’d urge everyone to do the same and let’s see if “We, The Sheeple”can protect this vet.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Gooferment “licenses” are unnecessary; some are really absurd

Nebraska May Soon Cut Regulations For Barbers, Military Spouses, Even Potato Shippers
Institute For Justice (We are the national law firm for liberty.)
Nick Sibilla, Contributor

*** begin quote ***

Now more than a dozen licenses are in reformers’ crosshairs. Proposed legislation would lower the number of hours needed to become a licensed barber or cosmetologist from 2,100 hours of training to 1,500. That bill would also halve the required hours for massage therapists, and reduce coursework requirements for nail technicians by at least a third. The one-year experience requirement for title examiners would also be repealed. And separate legislation would allow military spouses with active, out-of-state nursing licenses to apply to practice in Nebraska.

One of the more unusual laws that may be on the chopping block is Nebraska’s license for potato shipping. Since 1945, anyone involved in shipping at least 180,000 pounds of Nebraska-grown potatoes has to obtain a license from the state’s Department of Agriculture. Potato shippers then must pay a tax (no more than two cents) for every 100 pounds of potatoes they transport, raising $75,000 in revenue each year. Only 12 licenses are currently active, according to the Department, and—thankfully—the state hasn’t had to discipline any sinister spud shippers.

Licensing is now one of the biggest issues for Nebraska’s labor markets. Today, one-third of the state’s workforce needs either a license or certificate from the government before they can legally work. All that red tape adds up: the Heritage Foundation found that occupational licensing costs the average Nebraska household over $940 each year.

*** end quote ***

The free market will provide better protection.

Ever heard of “Underwriters Laboratory”? Try and buy an appliance at Walmart that doesn’t have a UL label. You don’t even have to think about electrical safety. And all without the Gooferment!’

I have a litany of Gooferment bureaucrat stupidity — like the electrical inspector who had failed the state’s own test for electricians, but he was qualified to inspect other licensed electrician’s work.

When will “We, The Sheeple” recognize that Gooferment “licensing” is Crony Capitalism at work.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Payday firms serve to educate the individual?

A New Front in the War on Payday Lenders
02/03/2017
Alice Salles

*** begin quote ***

By ignoring the need for firms willing to take the a risk on low-income borrowers, regulators — and Google — ignore the payday lenders’ importance. Not only because the low-income community has no standing with big banks, but because the payday firms serve to educate the individual.

For those who have been in a low-income situation, however, the need for quick, easy loans is apparent.

When I needed access to a loan quickly, I am glad I had a payday loan in my neighborhood. I needed the money then and there and I got it, but most importantly, I was truly happy the lenders imposed incentives to pay it all back. Which is what happened.

Life can be hard at times. And many people need any help they can get. And, they often need help fast. Conventional banks simply don’t offer these services.

Google is a private company and is entitled to decide for themselves who can work with them as advertisers. However, by working with regulators to attempt to put payday lenders out of business, Google is only working to further limit access to loans for low-income households, and making life even harder than it needs to be.

*** end quote ***

It’s easy to imagine the Gooferment politicians and bureaucrats sitting in their ivory tower offices “knowing what’s best for the poor slobs”.

In actuality, if the Gooferment hadn’t prevented Walmart from entering the “banking industry”, then maybe Pay Day loans wouldn’t be needed.

The Gooferment Skrules don’t teach “home economics” — or any other kind of economics — so where are folks supposed to learn about money and interest.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Depreciation is a real expense; the Gooferment is clueless

NY GOVERNOR SEEKS $2B TO FIX SOME OF NATION’S OLDEST PIPES
BY DAVID KLEPPER ASSOCIATED PRESS

*** begin quote ***

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has a plan to spend $2 billion to address water contamination and the state’s aging, leaky pipes.

While that sounds like a lot of money, it’s only a fraction of the $80 billion the state’s own experts say will be needed in coming years.

The state has some of the oldest drinking water and sewer systems in the nation, and contaminants from decades of industrial activity pose another problem.

*** end quote ***

Sorry, but imagine a world where a private corporation was supplying water?

Don’t you think that they would have amortized the cost of replacements into a sinking fund. So that when it came time to replace old pipes, it would be “No Big Deal”. Depreciation is a real expense and only the Gooferment, its politicians and bureaucrats, and the general public seems to be ignorant of it.

Argh!

Privatize, privatize, and more privatization is needed.

Sigh!

Will “We, The Sheeple” ever learn?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Seaside Heights may never recovery its former glory

HURRICANES – TYPHOONS
4 years after storm, some places changed by Sandy forever
Published October 28, 2016  Associated Press

*** begin quote ***

NEW YORK –  For four years, people have worked hard and mostly successfully to erase the deep scars Superstorm Sandy left on the New York and New Jersey coastlines when it crashed ashore with deadly force on Oct. 29, 2012.

But recovery will never come to Oakwood Beach, among several places along the coast that have seen permanent changes wrought by the storm.

*** and ***

In Seaside Heights, made infamous by the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore,” authorities still plan to rebuild an amusement park that had its roller coaster swept into the surf by the storm. But the town gave up on returning the park to a pier that jutted out into the water, opting instead for a new location on the beach.

*** end quote ***

Seaside Heights NJ 08751 will never be the same. It may never regain it past “glory”. Even though it survived MTV’s “Jersey Shore” reality show — where Brooklyn studs and sluts were portrayed as “Jerzee”. Argh!

Note the Gooferment / Statist language in the article.

Like “authorities still plan” and “the town gave up”!

Argh!

Neither the citizens of nor the taxpayers to the “Borough of Seaside Heights” were ever polled. In fact, continuing a town tradition of rule by the elite, in the days after the storm, property “owners” were prevented from reentry. Who knows what happened during those weeks? But we do know from news footage that the boardwalk owners met often with the “town officials” about what would happen.

Argh!

It’s a sad state of affairs when the Sheeple are treated so badly.

Another time when I’m not so aggrieved, let’s talk about the phony “Federal Flood Insurance” program and the fraud it is.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: The FBI has lost its reputation!

What Happened to the FBI?
By Andrew P. Napolitano
October 27, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Why did this case go sideways?

Did President Obama fear being a defense witness at Hillary Clinton’s criminal trial? Did he so fear being succeeded in office by Donald Trump that he ordered the FBI to exonerate Clinton, the rule of law be damned?

*** end quote ***

We KNOW that Robert Stack,Jimmy Stewart, and Efram Zimbalist Jr. propagandized the image of the FBI.

And, the FBI may have done good work once upon a time. But, now that is gone forever.

The question is what does this turn into?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Maybe The Donald will kill the DEA, HHS, and the FDA?

Why These Federal Agencies Should Be Abolished
By Joseph Mercola Mercola.com
September 19, 2016

*** begin quote ***

The use of marijuana for medical purposes is now legal in 25 states and, as of this writing, two additional states (Arkansas and Florida) have pending legislation or ballot measures to legalize medical marijuana.

Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and the District of Columbia have also legalized recreational use of marijuana for adults, while 16 states have decriminalized certain marijuana possession offenses.

*** and ***

Marijuana Does Not Meet Criteria for Schedule 1 Controlled Substances

According to the 1970 Controlled Substances Act, Schedule 1 drugs are defined as those having a “high potential for abuse” and “no acceptable medical use in treatment.” Research to date shows that marijuana meets neither of these criteria.

*** and ***

With this decision, the DEA and HHS have completely lost all credibility, proving they will act AGAINST the public good if it means protecting corporate interests. The hypocrisy is so blatant it’s infuriating.

These agencies are not serving the public but the Crony Capitalists of Big Pharma.

As Dick Morris points out, it’s self-evident that they directed the unnamed (in the FBI report) to delete the emails.

That’s a felony.

They should be indicted and, if found guilty, send to the Federal country club prison. Martha did a lot less!

At the very least, since Mills and Kendall are lawyers, they should be brought before the bar for censure or disbarment. (WJC was.)

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: DEA and the FDA are OTL

DEA’s Hypocritical Marijuana Decision Ignores The Evidence
Emily Willingham,   CONTRIBUTOR

*** begin quote ***

Relying on the fear tactics and uninformed attitudes of a century ago, the DEA—reportedly leaning heavily on the FDA’s conclusions about cannabis—has rejected a 5-year-old petition to reclassify the drug from Schedule I, which lists drugs like heroin, to Schedule II, which includes oxycodone.

Whether or not the decision helps or harms patients in the long run remains unclear, but it certainly reflects a dangerous and hypocritical throwback attitude about cannabis that will only add to distrust of governmental oversight agencies, making their decisions look like political or moral judgments rather than being evidence based.

*** end quote ***

The “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs” is basically dishonest.

Intellectually, legally, and morally.

How can anyone say that Marijuana has no medicinal value?

How can they ban (some) “drugs” when they had to pass Constitutional Amendment to ban and urban alcohol?

How can they deny people the freedom to put whatever they want into their own bodies?
