Rand Paul’s Iowa Visit Shows New Political Climate – Des Moines News Story – KCCI Des Moines

Message from Scott: “Paul/Paul Ticket? Who would be at the top of the ticket- father or son?”

# – # – #

Dear Scott,

I hope we don’t get a p/p ticket. It takes out 2 for 1. And the old man has enough “no” votes to be credible. I CAN see how he can win: the “ross perot” phenom.

Everyone forgets that ½ the electorate doesn’t vote. Some of them are not even registered. Watch, if Old Man Paul runs, for a wave of new voter registrations.

Of registered voters, ½ don’t vote. Of the remaining half (i.e., 50%), it splits 15 D’s – 10 R’s – 25 I’s. That’s the current calculus. The D candidate and the R candidate seek to rally their base to come out and fight over the independents.

In the Raegan election, (I believe from memory) 5% of the D’s, 25% of the I’s, and all 10% of the R’s voted for him. And, that was after, Ross Perot self-destructed his campaign. The tin foil hats believe that he was not a serious candidate; just some one the D’s put up to split the vote. Perot, like Bloomberg and others, was a life long died in the wool D, who magically became a “not D”. To quote Shawshank Redemption warden, “Lordy it is a miracle!” In the Perot election, Perot pulled some of the D’s, some of the R’s, and some of the I’s. Enough to get Clinton elected.

The great professional political politician’s fear is the “great unwashed coming to vote”. Remember there is 50% that register but never vote. Motivating half that mob to come out is a tsunami. That half is 25%! It would be overwhelming. And, if one assumes that if half of the “unwashed” comes out, then the 15-10-25 calculus is in the toilet. Something big is happening.

The candidate, who can tap into that groundswell of pissed off voters, will “surf” to an easy victory.

That’s why the Tea Parties are significant to the professional politicians and bureaucrats. It represents the “great unwashed”. That’s the tea leaves to watch.

Ron Paul could surf that wave to the White House. And, imho, save America from its fate.

We can only hope!

# – # – #

At this point, I say a Ron Paul / Michelle Bachman ticket would be a strong entry into the race. The addition of a woman to the VP slot is almost mandatory!

INSPIRATIONAL: April 2 Shining a Light for Autism Awareness Day

April 2: Shining a Light for Autism Awareness Day

The Lakeland schools are spreading awareness as they “Light It Up Blue.”

April is Autism Awareness Month and today, April 2 is its main day. Awareness is key and that’s because experts believe that the earlier intervention begins, the better the results for children on the autistic spectrum are.

*** end quote ***

Looking for a blue light to put in my window. I can’t imagine the load you’re carrying. I can’t imagine the number of children afflicted. I can’t do much to change the world. Here’s a quick prayer to support you. Having know how sickness can impact families, I just wish you the strength and stamina to “run your race”. Good thing that women are much stronger than men. Like the old joke, “if men had to have babies, the human race would have died out eons ago”, here’s one fat old white guy injineer’s applause for your “heavy lift”. jasper fjohn68

RANT: And, maybe the whole thing is a bad idea?

Sunday, April 3, 2011

The other night, I couldn’t believe my ears. Two IT execs, both of whom I like and respect, advocated a return to the draft. Each for different reasons, but both advocated for it.

I was speechless.

… but only for a few minutes.

Having been drafted, had my life, and the live of my loved ones, ripped apart by the Viet Nam war — may Presidents IKE, JFK, and LBJ have a special ever lasting reward for their role in it — and seen loved ones inalterably changed by it. I saw a country ripped apart. Families divided. Old friends lost forever. And not just by battlefield deaths. I’ve seen at least one set of sweethearts ripped apart, never to marry, and never to have been what they could have been. Next to Lincoln’s War, what I call the War of Northern Aggression, can I imagine a more “natural disaster” type devastation on the USA. WW2 wasn’t as corrosive to the American spirit.

Any way, snapping back to reality, I took up the opposition.

# – # – #

Point #1 — the draft would stop foreign wars because the American public would have their sons in any war; the all volunteer service means that the poor minorities fight the wars.

This was Charlie Rangel’s idea. The draft didn’t keep us out of Viet Nam. And, the big Gooferment war hawks don’t seem to be kept out of anything in the way of a foreign war. I believe the Dead Old White Guys knew that a standing army was dangerous. Too likely to be used. The Constitution calls for the Army to be around for only two years. How did we let it become an eternal institution? Only the Navy as an ongoing entity is “constitutional”. If you want to prevent wars, and Presidents who think they are above the Constitutional requirement for Congress to declare war, your going to have to impeach one or two to get the message across. And, the voters are going to have to back up that action.

Of course, when women get their act together, they can unilaterally stop offensive wars. “Yes, when we get out of here. We’re going to have to fix that. You know we control something that can get it done. Not the ballot box, but the other box. (A giant sucking sound as pure Miss Marie used that very rude idiom.) We can end war.” — character “Marie” being anti-war in CHURCH 10●19●62 Volume 1 Page 262

# – # – #

Point #2 — the draft and boot camp would be good for the young; teaching them discipline and needed life skills. And, an unspoken “benefit” was to create a common bond that would transcend “culture”. (Omitted because of the racist overtones.)

This is the height of ego. I know what’s good for you young whippersnappers. Why in my day we walked (insert absurd number) to and from school. Uphill both ways.

If in fact, there was NO army, then, and only then, would there be an argument that every yungster might be called on to defend the homeland. Think Israel where every girl and boy does a tour in the Army; they have a Civil Defense problem. Or, Switzerland, where every man gets trained and a military grade rifle and ammo to take home; with follow up drills every so often.

But, to say “You have to go to basic because it’s good for you” is absurdly trivial. To quote a modern clergyman recently in the news: “Who the hell do you think you are?”

You have no right to force me to do anything.

If we had a culture of self-defense, then maybe you might say that as condition of voting, you have to be capable of defending the USA.

And, maybe it’s in the form of a voluntary summer camp for ten weeks the summer after your 16th birthday. And, maybe it’s a one shot opportunity. And, maybe it’s justified. And maybe there are different ones for boys and girls.

And, maybe the whole thing is a bad idea?

RANGEL REINTRODUCES DRAFT BILL

WASHINGTON – Lawmaker Says Volunteer Military May be Overwhelmed by Military Challenges in Iran, North Korea and Syria requiring more troops who will have to be drafted

Congressman Charles Rangel today introduced new legislation to reinstate the military draft that will include draftees up to 42 years of age.

“Every day that the military option is on the table, as declared by the President in his State of the Union address, in Iran, North Korea, and Syria, reinstatement of the military draft is an option that must also be considered, whether we like it or not,” Congressman Rangel said. “If the military is already having trouble getting the recruits they need, what can we do to fill the ranks if the war spreads from Iraq to other countries? We may have no other choice but a draft.”

The bill would mandate military service for men and women between the ages of 18 and 42. Deferments would be allowed only for completion of high school up to the age of 20, and for reasons of health, conscience or religious belief. Recruits not needed by the military in any given year would be required to perform some national civilian service.

China Embraces New Nuclear Technology
by Russell D. Longcore

*** begin quote ***

Did I say ALL the reactors are using old technology? Pardon me. China has build a 10 MW (megawatt) prototype “Pebble Bed” reactor at Tsinghua University in Beijing. It holds the promise of safe nuclear-generated power going forward into tomorrow.

The Pebble Bed reactor was actually invented in 1947 by Dr. Farrington Daniels at Oak Ridge National Laboratory here in the USA. Then, German scientists took the concept and have been perfecting it since. America…to its shame…has not embraced this technology.

We need nukes to wean ourselves off imported oil. Americans tamed the frontier. Are you telling me we can’t have safe nukes?

RANT: You really don’t expect justice in the Gooferment’s courts?

Many of the Most Awake Have Been Most Touched by Government
by Jim Davidson

*** begin quote ***

It used to be said, in the early 1990s in my hearing and presumably before that, amongst students of the law that “a grand jury is a tool of the prosecution.” It might once have been that a grand jury was actually a group of concerned members of a community brought together to seek an actual truth. But in current times, if the prosecutor wants to conceal information from them, he does, and they are too ignorant, being mostly public schooled, to know it. If the prosecutor wants them to acquit, they will. If the prosecutor wants them to indict, they will.

Nowadays, jurors are prevented, often forcibly, with violence, from being informed that they have an ancient and legitimate right to rule that the law is unjust, as well as to consider whether the law was broken.

*** and ***

So it has become the case that a jury is now a tool of the prosecution. Federal judges lie, they prevent jurors from hearing the truth, they instruct juries falsely, and they work to serve the system which oppresses the rest of us. They are, in fact, no damned good at all.

Ev would have been tickled to see this picture. I’d have given anything if she could have seen the twins’ reaction to it. She’d have probably wanted it bigger. :-) You know, nock your socks off bigger. ROFL!

Update: I’m told that the twins love it. That would make Our Girl happy. All she wanted was for children to be happy and have their wildest dreams. Guess it was her “early poverty” experience speaking.

Supreme Court rejects damages for innocent man who spent 14 years on death row
By David G. Savage, Washington Bureau
March 29, 2011, 3:14 p.m.

*** begin quote ***

WASHINGTON – A bitterly divided Supreme Court tossed out a jury verdict Tuesday won by a New Orleans man who spent 14 years on Death Row and came within weeks of execution because prosecutors had hidden a blood test and other evidence that would have proven his innocence.

*** end quote ***

The essence is that, without a pattern of mistakes, one mistake is OK. IMHO even one mistake is TOO much. Where the death penalty is involved. Where the prosecutors are guilty. Goes back to my oft stated objection to Gooferment, you expect justice from the Gooferment’s courts where the Gooferment is one of the adversaries? It can’t happen.

April 1, 2011

I went on a long planned trip to Oregon / Reno / LV / AZ shortly after our second date. If the trip had happened before Ev, who knows if I’d have even come home. I loved the West. She teased me about the Scout, saying “it was one of a kind”, and that “You bought the only one.” When we hit the ground in AZ, I found its “sister”. A photo-ed it to prove it. Why she saved this picture, beats me? Maybe it was the rugged outdoors image of Little Johnie Reinke that she found irresistible? Must have meant something for her to save it. Didn’t girls judge boys by the car they drove? Guess this drove her wild! LOL!!

The biggest borrowers from the 97-year-old discount window as the program reached its crisis-era peak were foreign banks, accounting for at least 70 percent of the $110.7 billion borrowed during the week in October 2008 when use of the program surged to a record. The disclosures may stoke a reexamination of the risks posed to U.S. taxpayers by the central bank’s role in global financial markets.

GOLDBUG: Think tangibles; it’s no April Fool’s joke

Friday, April 1, 2011

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=279429#ixzz1HnfX2FgQ

Tangible investments … that lick your hand

*** begin quote ***

We’ve decided on this radical tactic because money is losing its value at a startling rate. In the last eight months it has lost 14 percent of its value. This “dollar’s road to hell,” in the words of Gonzalo Lira, mean useful things like heifers and canning jars and storable food will only cost more and more as time goes by. So why not purchase them now while we can still afford them?

At this juncture I’ll point out that I’m not a financial adviser. I don’t even play one on TV. I’m a housewife on a limited budget. But my husband and I can’t afford to have that limited budget evaporate in value because we naïvely swallowed Ben Bernanke’s lies that our economy is just fine, thank you, and recovery is right around the corner.

We believe foolish people trustingly keep their money in the bank and don’t notice when its purchasing power dwindles (or when their solid dependable bank just … goes away). We believe foolish people think the stock market can never fall to catastrophic lows (again). We believe foolish people think our economy is fundamentally sound despite all evidence to the contrary.

We believe smart people pay off debt and get rid of unneeded luxuries and put their money into things that will provide a useful function in the future. We believe smart people invest their retirement money in physical gold and silver rather than 401(k) plans.

Tangible. Think tangible.

*** end quote ***

Gold bullion coins, silver bullion coins, rolls of nickels … … are my preferred investments.

Don’t laugh.

Read about post WW1 Germany, Hungry, Zimbabwe.

It can happen here.

Humor me. Buy a $2 roll of nickels every time you go to the bank and put them out of the way at home. (The Gooferment’s nickel in now worth about 8¢ in metal content alone.)

Budget Negotiators Reach Tentative Deal To Avert Government Shutdown

March 30, 2011 6:00 PM

Sources tell me that budget negotiators on Capitol Hill have tentatively agreed on a deal that would involve at least $33 billion in spending cuts from this year’s budget. That’s $23 billion dollars more than Democrats have previously agreed to in short-term continuing resolutions, and $28 billion less than Republicans previously passed in the House.

Unless the amount cut has a “T” in it, as in “1T$ cut”, and politicians and bureaucrats are running around screaming that the “sky is falling”, they ain’t cut enough.

HARDWARE: POGOPLUG becomes much more valuable

For a C Note and an external USB hard drive, you have your own “cloud”. This is an amazing solution. And, the fact, that it has no monthly charge, is stunning.

Put one in a friend’s house and you have off-site backup. And, it doesn’t preclude him putting his own along side it. I can see a lot of mutual back scenarios being created.

Hurry before they raise the price.

NOTRECOMMENDED: WD MYBOOKFORMAC

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

IMHO this has been a technology disaster.

Not so much the device. I had that working in minutes.

In the accompanying software. What good is a backup device without the snazzy software that will make the backups painless.

Otherwise it’s just a USB Hard DIsk. Which is nice, but there are many on the market and many much cheaper.

I have a WD Go Flex that I bought without the snazzy software and use IBACKUP with.

During the “panic attacks” I feared for my data. And despite CARBONITE and DROPBOX and GOFLEXDRIVE, the TIMEMACHINE failure scared me. So I wanted more protection.

(I’ve done bare metal restores on WINDOZE and MACBOOKAIR, they are NOT pretty. Stuff never comes back 100%.)

I bought the MYBOOKFORMAC based on the box’s promise of simple complete backup. And, I got something that was Adobe Flash dependent and browser dependent. That’s not what I bargained for.

CAVEAT EMPTOR

And, I may be wrong but in the “support email exchanges”, I think I was dealing with a softeware robot, not a real person, Even dial 1 800 a third world country is more honest. Did these guys watch WATSON on Jeopardy and think they can fool people?

Dear Ferdinand,

Thank you for your reply.

Once again I apologize for the inconvenience. If you decide to return the product to the store you do not need an RMA number to get a credit refund from retailer. An RMA number is used for replacement purpose with our company. If you wish to get your money back for the product from store, this is something that is handled by the retailer you purchased the product. Western Digital does not refund back money to customers, if the drive is defective or needs replacement for some other reason, we proceed with RMA options.

If you wish to replace the drive, we have two warranty replacement options available to you, Advance RMA and Standard RMA. Both options are available online from our we bsite. In an Advance RMA, we will ship you the replacement drive prior to receiving your defective drive. A credit/debit card is required to insure against the receipt your defective drive. If we do not receive your drive 30 days from the date the replacement drive was shipped, the fair market value of the replacement drive will be charged/debited to your credit/debit card. In a Standard RMA, we will ship you the replacement drive only after we have received your defective product. No credit/debit card is required in a Standard RMA.

The current turnaround time for an Advance RMA is 3 to 5 business days and 5 to 7 business days for a Standard RMA.

You may create your RMA online by visiting the links below. Please remember that an RMA number is required in order to replace your defective drive.

SERVICE: AMAZON CLOUDPLAYER just stopped

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

I knew it, I knew it. “Cloud Services” are subject to network and hosting issues.

AMAZON CLOUDPLAYER just had a “brain fart”. For at least three minutes.

For me listening to music sadly, who cares. For folks betting their ranch on a cloud strategy, they better care.

It’s back now. Let the finger pointing begin.

FUN: Considering “Road Trip”

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Remember the movie Animal House? Bluto yells “Road Trip”. We all know how well that worked out.

“Wed, 9/14/2011 Englert Theatre Iowa City, IA”

Foolish?

Sent the following warning to various interested parties:

“{Short Message. No message Body} Judy Collins concert 9/24 Iowa City has popped on my radar. The idea to go is a possibility. (Yeah, regressing back in time to 1966 in AT&T Computer Room. What’s next: Anti-war rallies?) {No Reply Required}”

Tie it into an Alaska return?

(Maybe this is caused by listening to an excessive number of Judy and PPM music from Amazon.)

TBC!

Reason TV: Who Wants to Live Forever? Dr. Stephen Coles on the Secrets of the World’s Oldest People

March 21, 2011

*** begin quote ***

UCLA’s Dr. Stephen Coles studies the oldest people in the world. Hitting the century mark isn’t enough to pique his interest because Coles’ research focuses on supercentenarians, that is, those at least 110-year-old. Today Coles recognizes only 88 people worldwide as supercententarians, and the list is available at the Gerontology Research Group website.

SERVICE: AMAZON CLOUD_DRIVE and CLOUD_PLAYER scoops Google and Apple

Introducing Amazon Cloud Player for Web and Android

Seems like Amazon has scooped Google and Apple. It appears to work.

Just as you should buy your ebooks for Kindle, seems like you music should be from Amazon. (The buying process is clunky! imho)

SERVICE: The problem with “cloud” services; they “disappear”

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Ahh, yes, a plaxo competitor, but not as obnoxious, is going down.

First they stopped performing the service in January. Then, they told folks at the end of March.

It was a useful service (i.e., update your email once and it told every one who had your card). It was originally tied to the business card scanner. No word if they are going to stop selling those. (Who uses business cards today?) I doubt it.

Sigh, an idea who’s time has past.

BTW, their product still had the same fatal flaw it’s always had: YOUR data was locked in their database with no way to extract it.

I blogged that they needed to be open. Interact with Google contacts. Instead of keeping their own database, use people’s GMAIL contacts as their database. Require some innovative business and technical thinking, sure.

Go to Google and offer to make GMAIL’s contacts “social”.

I think their problem was in their thinking — memes and paradigms again — they thought they were selling business card scanners. What they should have been thinking was “we enable communication”.

They could have been LinkedIn, ACT / Salesforce, or something else.

Their thinking did them in.

RIP CARDSCAN. “Ya coulda been a contender”

CardScan @ Your Service Discontinuance notice

Dear At Your Service user,

We are contacting you because, after careful consideration, DYMO CardScan has decided to discontinue our At Your Service program effective Dec 31, 2011. Due to the cost of the hardware and network bandwidth up keep, a business decision was made to discontinue the no cost CardScan At Your Service online database program.

The first step in this process was to stop sending out the update service email notifications which just happened at the end of January 2011. We apologize for the inconvenience but users of AYS can continue to use it to back up their contacts, as well as to access their contacts remotely over the web, until the service is completely shut down at the end of this year.

Just as a reminder, our End User License Agreement specifically states that services provided in addition to the CardScan software application can be modified or discontinued at any time.

Sincerely,

The DYMO team

MEMORIES: “Nothing but my best effort for you.”

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

> Marge says you need to rescan the evy articles…you tried to cram them all on one page and you can’t
> read some of them. Then we can print out here and read!

Don’t have originals. I’ll have to see what I can do with what I got. I read one under a magnifying glass and she scored 15 of the team 30 points. That sounds like Ev.

She told me once about her first game for HFA. As a freshman, she started. And for the first few minutes she just passed the ball to the seniors. Her coach pulled her out and she sat on the bench for a few minutes. Coach Mac then asked her: “You like being on the bench?” “No.” “If I put you back in, will you shoot?” “Yes.” Went back in at the half and scored 17. I believed her.

I’ll have to see if I can find her clippings. I know she had some. Shoulda grabbed them when I saw them. I bet she tossed them as “embarrassing”.

# – # – #

Our Girl told me another story. That I confirmed during one of the few times I met Coach Mac.

It seems that, at Holy Family Academy, some of the teams they played were somewhere between inept and clueless. She never understood why up by 30 against a team that couldn’t score, Coach Mac kept her and the other starters in the game.

(As the fellow, whom she taught everything he knows about basketball, I understand there are several reasons for doing this. You can’t turn your offense on and off. You have to motivate your bench to work harder, get better, and EARN playing time. It’s a game of momentum and runs. Just because you are beating the pants off someone, doesn’t mean that the basketball gods don’t teach you a lesson in humility. And, if an opponent has a glimmer of hope and thinks they can win, then they can.)

She used to say: “Never understood running up the score. Never understood not letting everyone play. I used to try extra hard thinking that if we had a big enough lead, she <Coach Mac> would put the other kids in. In my junior year, when I was feeling my oats, I asked her. She told me gruffly: “I’ll coach; you play.” But she did relent and put in the subs a few minutes later. And even though I hated to sit the bench, I cheered extra hard for the subs.”

Her gal pals were shocked that she said anything to the Coach. No one had ever done that.

That’s Our Girl, fearless. And even at that age, worried about how others felt.

# – # – #

No wonder her grammar school girls teams loved to play for her. She was in it for them and only them.

And, when she had her dream 28-1 team, she never ran up the score. A lesson she learned from HFA.

And, if the flu wasn’t rampant that one Sunday — her two #1 guards, both excellent, were out completely and her #2 guard (the one that shoots) was shaky but had to move to #1 duty, she’d have been perfect. That didn’t bother her; she was just thrilled for “her girls” that they could experience the joy of a great team.

(Her team was so good that year, the league officials wanted to throw her out of the league. Good Catholic gentlemen! All the other coaches and league officials were men; Our Girl was the only woman. Probably couldn’t stand the thought of being beaten by a girl. What could she know! Our girl was upset but too nice to call them on it. … … … However, this was a job for “Grumpy Nasty Fat Young Injineer”. Me! Don’t mess with my wife! I spoke up and threatened to take it to the bishop, the various pastors of their respective churches, and the newspapers. They backed off. They didn’t like it, but there was no more talk of ejecting her team because they were “too good”. I may have even use a few nautical terms in convincing them.)

(She had a friendly rivalry with the coach of the nearby Saint Matthias. He was a star in high school and played college. Not great, but good. He had visions of being a great coach. And I think secretly coaching college. So, Our Girl’s team usually played a 2-2-1 press and a 2-3 zone with a man2man every once in a while to mix it up. During the game, if she yelled “mix it up”, then the girls would play the “mix it up” defense. She knew that this rival coach was after her scalp. So the week before the game, she started the first practice of the with: “OK, how would you girls like to learn something new?” This group was a dream because they were hooked from the word “like”. She taught them a 2-1-2 press and a 3-2 zone with a 1-3-1 zone as the mix up. And instead of yelling “PRESS” or “MIX IT UP”, for that week the words were “BOYS” and “GIRLS”. She floored him. His kids virtually couldn’t get the ball up until the second half. At half time, he adjusted. So did she; she went back to the old tactics. Our Girl was no fool. If he could adjust at half time, so could she. After the game, he came over and gave her a big hug and kiss. “Thanks for not running up the score. You really beat me badly. I was ready for your old team and was stunned that you had a new team.” She grinned and said “Nothing but my best effort for you. It was fun. And, I’d never run up the score. Doesn’t teach kids anything.” And, she laughed about it for months.)

Boy, I miss her, her drive, and that laugh. An Irish Vixen. Although when crossed, she could morph into another word for a female. But, she NEVER had a harsh word for any child. Even girls, who played for her, and played badly or didn’t try, would get encouragement. More than once during a game, I’ve seen her call time out, leave the team with her assistants (Tom and I), and go speak to a father about, as she put it, “encouragement; not criticism”. Fearless protecting “her girls”. Fathers never crossed her lines twice. Would have been interesting to see. While she never usually ever said a bad word, I know she knew them. (Addressed them to me from time to time, when I had some fool idea or did something dumb.) She always was a lady. A fierce competitor. And a real true feminist. Her girls were “winners” to her, even if they lost every game.

Yup, I miss her.

# – # – #

After HFA, she played semi-pro with Coach Mac, in the Bayonne Beer Leagues. I can’t imagine two more fierce competitors. It was during this that she picked up the nickname “elbows”. (Which my Uncle Big John some how found out. I never knew that until he told me. She was in awe of him for being a Golden Glove Champ. So maybe she shared stuff with him. Champ to Champ.) I understand that not only was there some “renumeration for playing”, but there were also “bonuses for winning” depending upon how much the sponsoring bar won. “I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!” Captain Renault in Casablanca. Me too. Shocking. A fine upstanding young Catholic woman being sponsored and “kept” by a establishment focused on drinking and gambling.

I married her to get her away from all of that sin and bad influences.

(She would have had to quit anyway. Quad leg separations two weeks before our wedding. Doc told her “to wheelchair down the aisle”; she said “wanna bet”. Come to think of it, she had an early start make fools out of docs who predicted things about her.)

I wonder what could have been. If she’d been born two decades later? Or, if she had had the money for college? We’ll never know. But if wither of those had happened, I’d have missed the best 43 years possible in my life.

I know I miss her now. Even sick as she was, she could still make me laugh.

# # # # #

Update: I’ve been corrected it was FIVE weeks before her wedding.

MEMORIES: Children always “lit up” Our Girl; everyone saw it.

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

RECEIVED FROM NIECE-IN-LAW (Of whom the State of New Jersey say is no longer related for inheritance tax purposes)

My neighbor sent me a note today- she has been here for many parties- and remembers Auntie Ev fondly. Wanted to share it with you. She wrote:

Dear Megan,

The joy you and your family gave your Aunt was obvious. I can picture her arriving at your house and scanning the activity taking place. As she discovered the where-abouts of each of your children her face would light up. It didn’t seem possible, but as each of your children acknowledged her presence her face brightened even more. Whether their greeting was a distant wave, a hug, or showing or telling your aunt some news, she was delighted by the interaction. I am sure you have many memories of your Aunt to treasure. I am glad I have this one.

Sincerely,
XXX
