Ep. 916: Did the South Keep Lincol…
The Brion McClanahan ShowJan 04, 2024

in this podcast, McClanahan points out that historically there were no ballots for Lincoln to be kept off of. The parties printed there own colorful “ballots” to enable strait party line voting. And voting was public.

GOVERNACIDE: Putin sounds like the adult in the room and not targeting civilians

Pay Attention to What Vladimir Putin Says
2 January 2024 by Larry Johnson

*** begin quote ***

Denis Shamalyuk: Comrade Supreme Commander-in-Chief, I am Sergeant Shamalyuk. I have a question. From the very beginning of the special operation, our enemies have been constantly and regularly shelling the territories near the border, killing civilians and children, destroying villages and cities. I have the following question for you. Do you think it is possible and necessary to take tougher measures against the adversary so that the thought does not even cross their minds to commit these atrocities?

Vladimir Putin: What has happened in Belgorod is of course a terrorist attack. Why? Because of what they have done under the cover of two missiles – I think it was Olkha: they fired from multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS). You, as military people, know what MLRS is. This weapon is not selective, it hits areas. This weapon struck right in the centre of the city, where people were walking before the New Year. It was a targeted strike on the civilian population. Of course, this is a terrorist attack; there is no other way to describe it.

Should we respond in kind? Of course, we can hit squares in Kiev or any other city. But Denis, there are children walking there, mothers with strollers. I understand, because I am quite angry, too, but I want to ask you: do we need to do this, target the squares?

Denis Shamalyuk: No, I am not saying that it should [be] against the civilian population, but specifically against military infrastructure…

Vladimir Putin: That is what we are doing.

I’d have hoped that the President of the USA could say this.  Killing civilians is just wrong by any standard.  And, the US Taxpayers should be enraged that we’re paying to enable the Ukraine and Isreal to do this.

Putting maybe a killer but he seems to be an ethical one.

Just reacting to the story.

If someone dropped a 3 year old on your doorstep, would you react the same way?

I’d like to think that I would have the same empathy for the child, like you would for a complete stranger, hurt animal, or abandoned pet.

The child needed a safe and loving environment.  I agree call the police lest you be called a kidnapper.  But, putting any child into “the system” is just unnecessary cruelty.

I don’t have any “right answers” but I’d like to thing it could have been handled differently.

“In 1980, I was accompanying my boss on a VIP flight from Brussels to Washington on one of the Air Force’s plushed-out large jets—the ones with ‘United States of America’ emblazoned along the fuselage. My wife and I, along with two small sons, were at a round table with four captain’s chairs across from an Army straphanger and his wife at a similar table. He saw that my wife was exhausted from having handled most of our move while I had concentrated on my boss and that my boss was buzzing me every few minutes with questions about our reception in Washington. An hour or so into the flight, the general motioned for my boys to come to his table. For the next five hours, he and his wife entertained my sons so that my wife could get some rest and I could take care of my boss. Those two life-savers were Colin and Alma Powell.”

Where is the Gooferment protecting US citizens?

I remember a story about some Bulgarians digging a Soviet attache.  The KGB killed them and their families.  Then, Russians were immune to Bulgarian violence.

The US Congress has the power of “Marque and Reprisal”.  Just designate some one, post a reward, and give them US sovereign immunity from prosecution.

Like the old cowboy western show, “Wanted: Dead or Alive”.

Time to protect “our” people.

Make Hamas start check passports.

GOVERNACIDE: Massachusetts has Canada like waiting lists

Waiting for health care in Canada
Jeff Jacoby

*** begin quote ***

Thanks to tax preferences dating back two generations, patients have come to expect most medical treatment and procedures — even routine prescriptions — to be covered by health insurance. Consequently, insurers wield far more economic clout than patients do. Providers — doctors, hospitals, urgent care facilities — are forced to accommodate the demands of insurance companies, since it is they who pay the tab. When patients think someone else is paying most of their health care costs, they feel little pressure to learn what those costs actually are — and providers feel little pressure to compete on price or value. Add to all that the plethora of coverage mandates imposed by state and federal governments, and it is no wonder that health care pressures have grown intolerable. Many medical practices won’t take new patients. Result: people can’t get the care they want, or can’t get it from the providers they prefer, or can’t get it without having to hunker down for a long wait.

Wonder how many people die while waiting or because of the wait?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Scofflaw finds a way to skate by

Ghost car: Post catches serial scofflaw in the act of removing license plates to avoid tickets , tows
By Georgia Worrell, Matthew Sedacca, and Rich Calder
Published Dec. 23, 2023, 7:45 a.m. ET

*** begin quote ***

A rogue driver on the Upper East Side has found a loophole to get around parking tickets — removing his license plates.

The Post witnessed a man in a blue Honda Odyssey park on East 85th Street between York and First Avenues, before yanking the Connecticut license plate off the back of the car and stashing it in a plastic bag.

The man then strutted into a nearby apartment building at 424 E. 85th Street, where he works as a super.

Neighborhood residents say the slippery scofflaw had been pulling the same trick for months, to avoid being slapped with parking tickets and being towed.

They said they called the cops multiple times on the serial parking abuser but officials said police are not able to tow vehicles that have no plates — so-called “ghost cars” — unless the city Sanitation Department first marks them for removal.

*** end quote ***

Here’s a novel idea: team a Policeman, Sanitation official, and a few tow trucks.  Sanitation tags the car, the Police ticket it, and the tow truck takes it away.  Ez Pee Zee.

I like street justice by the Fire Department when someone blocks a hydrane; let the fire folks practice breaking car windows and hooking up a leaky hose for a few hours.  Good practice and I bet you only need the NY Post to photo it.  Problem solved.
