RANT: The “opined addiction” suit is about a Gooferment cash grab; not about the victims

FROM BEHIND THE WSJ PAYWALL

Barry Rose of Nebraska said: “Painkillers are a necessary evil, and the doctors who prescribe them are well aware of their addictive nature. The doctor is responsible to warn their patient, to make sure the opioid isn’t abused and to carefully monitor their patient. If the states were really interested in opioid abuse, they would go back to the doctors and pharmacies that dispensed them, but they aren’t. The pharmaceutical companies are a better target, deep pockets for the cash-starved states to plunder. It’s always about the money. When I see the states paying out that money to victims, then I will think differently.”

The Gooferment is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy.

Here’s a classic example. Sue the Big Drug Companies rather than legalize ALL drugs.

The first tactic puts more money the Gooferment coffers to spend while the second removes it while it “solves” the problem.

Close the excess prisons, courts, and probation and release the excess people to the free market. Transfer the money spent on “punishment” to “rehab”.

Which way would you like it to go?
