POLITICAL: Read the Bills update

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

Letterhead
December 16, 2014
Mr. Ferdinand Reinke
1641 International Dr Unit 414
McLean, VA 22102-4831

Dear Mr. Reinke:

Thank you for contacting me about H.R. 1831, the Read the Bills Act. I appreciate hearing from you.

On May 6, 2013 Representative Kerry Bentivolio introduced H.R. 1831, legislation to require Congress to post potential bills online for a minimum of seven days before voting for passage of them. In addition, all legislation would have to be voted on by a roll call vote.

H.R. 1831 has been referred to the House Judiciary and Rules Committees. Please be assured that my staff and I closely review legislation that comes before the Senate. I will be sure to keep your views on this important issue in mind.

Again, thank you for contacting me.

Sincerely,

Signature

Tim Kaine

RANT: FDA has several negative effects

I have to vent. Price of prescription drugs again. I had to pick up a 30 day supply of the blood thinner prescribed for me. $121. And I have one of the best AARP supplemental drug programs!

There is no generic. The blood thinner came out in 2009.

It is the donut again. You who are over 65 will especially understand. I have been in the donut since June. I telephoned the insurance company last month. They said I could get out of the donut if I paid $4,000 odd dollars.

The drug companies and insurance companies continue to rip us off. Neither Obamacare nor anything else helps. The drug companies have continued to receive basically a free ride under Obama.

>The drug companies and insurance companies continue to rip us off.

You’re pointing at the wrong villain. It’s the Gooferment that allows Crony Capitalists to be protected from a true free market. AND, its FDA has several negative effects: (1) it raises the cost of getting a drug “approved”; (2) it adds decades to getting a drug to market; (3) it regularly denies approvals because it’s politically safer; and (4) it ignores that there are natural remedies and lifestyle changes that are more effective than drugs — but no one makes a profit on those.

>Neither Obamacare nor anything else helps.

Obamacare was written by the insurance companies. You expect that to change anything?
Medicare was camel’s nose of getting the Gooferment into healthcare.
And, it’s been more and more intrusive ever since.

We need Separation of Medicine and State!

>The drug companies have continued to receive basically a free ride under Obama.

Not just a free ride. They’ve actually INCREASED their political influence to Society’s detriment.

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL News Alert

FDA Advisers’ Financial Ties Not DisclosedThe Food and Drug Administration hasn’t disclosed numerous financial ties between medical-device makers and the doctors and other experts who review devices for the FDA, a Wall Street Journal analysis of corporate, state and federal data shows.

In panels evaluating devices involved in cardiology, orthopedics and gynecology from 2012 through 2014, a third of 122 members had received compensation–such as money, research grants or travel and food–from medical-device companies.

Nearly 10% of the FDA advisers received something of value from the specific company whose product they were evaluating.

SECURITY: Government-grade malware is a problem for all

Corporate Abuse of Our Data
Bruce Schneier

*** begin quote ***

That is not a good enough excuse, though. As nation-state malware becomes more common, we will often lack the whole story. And as long as countries are battling it out in cyberspace, some of us will be targets and the rest of us might be unlucky enough to be sitting in the blast radius. Military-grade malware will continue to be elusive.

Right now, antivirus companies are probably sitting on incomplete stories about a dozen more varieties of government-grade malware. But they shouldn’t. We want, and need, our antivirus companies to tell us everything they can about these threats as soon as they know them, and not wait until the release of a political story makes it impossible for them to remain silent.

*** end quote ***

Can’t do anything about it!

Don’t worry about it!

Argh!

‘Kiss My Ass’: Charles Barkley Responds to Critics
Who Didn’t Like How He Blasted Ferguson Thugs & Looters

BY SHAWN BEVANS

*** begin quote ***

Charles Barkley is no stranger to controversy, especially as of late when the NBA Hall of Famer voiced his opinions to CNN on a variety of tumultuous topics such as Ferguson, Eric Garner and the general relationship between police and the black community.

He’s move up in my view.

Call ‘em as you see ‘em!

I like his Grandmother too.

And, he’s honest about it’s sad. I’m a pro-lifer.

But we have to be honest about the facts.

Argh!

Kudos to Mister Charles.

MONEY: A Monetary Gadfly

LIBERTY DOLLAR ALERT:
December.06.2014
Thank you from BVNH

Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters!

Thank you for your wonderful emails and your continued support. While I am disappointed we didn’t “change the money – change the country,” I am humbled by your kind words of support and sheer joy that I am not going to prison. I hope to review all my emails and reply to your questions and suggestions as soon as time permits.

Meanwhile, you may wish to share the main points raised in the Wall Street Journal editorial by Seth Lipsky just the day before I was sentenced: “A Monetary Gadfly in an Age of Fiat Money” and his excellent editorial “Beyond Bernard von NotHaus” in the New York Sun published the day after I was sentenced. Both are very well written and should be of interest to your local news sources.
I wish to express a very special thanks to Noell Tin, Fred Williams and Tom Ashcraft, the very competent and dedicated team of attorneys who represented me at the Sentencing Hearing and GATA for their outstanding support and posting Seth Lipsky’s WSJ.

Please remember that it is only by banding together and adopting a free and independent currency that provides us with “just weights and measures” that we will be able to throw off the yoke of a manipulated monetary/tax system and generate a peaceful and prosperous society.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Well, at least, he didn’t go to prison.

Like anyone would confuse fiat valueless tokens for the Liberty Dollar “medallions”!

Or their “warehouse receipts” for the Federal Reserve System’s “toilet paper”.

What is a “dollar” these days?

SERVICE: Google’s Gmail sending more “stuff” to spam

Friday, December 12, 2014

This week I had a lot more good stuff going to spam on Google.

I use “in:spam” to check weekly.

If you use Google’s Gmail, then you might want to check too.

I also use filters to ensure that “stuff” doesn’t get put in spam.

FWIW

POLITICAL: Andrew P. Napolitano “don’t hold your breath”

The CIA and Its Torturers
By Andrew P. Napolitano
December 11, 2014

*** begin quote ***

When the head of the CIA’s torture unit decided to destroy videotapes of his team’s horrific work, he unwittingly set in motion a series of events that led to the release this week of the most massive, detailed documentation of unlawful behavior by high-ranking government officials and intentional infliction of pain on noncombatants by the United States government since the Civil War era. Here is the backstory.

*** and ***

What should we make of this report on government torture? In a free society in which the government works for us, we have a right to know what it is doing in our names, and we have a reasonable expectation that the laws the government enforces against us it will enforce against itself. But don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

*** end quote ***

I like the Judge.

And, I respect his opinion.

I’d need more on the alleged “plots stopped” to make a value judgment.

On the face of it, and knowing the Gooferment’s willingness to create “false flags”, as well as lie, cheat, and steal.

I’m more to the Judge’s side of the argument than those who post 9/11 pictures on Facebook.

Not sure that this prevented anything.

If it did, I’d be more “understanding”. Slaps on the wrist rather than condemnation.

But, the USA is in everyone’s business and needs to pull back.

Argh!

Not that anyone listens to one fat old white guy injineer blogger!

A Vet’s View of Home Euthanasia for Pets

*** begin quote ***

Nobody says, “I hope I die in a hospital bed in the ICU in a lot of pain.” If you were to query your friends, most people would probably say, “I hope I die at home in my sleep.” (In fact, according to some surveys, as many as 70 percent to 90 percent of people would prefer to die at home.) The uncertainty of knowing when and where we will shrug off the mortal coil is a great source of angst for many of us humans. Dogs and cats have it a little different.

*** end quote ***

Agree. Dying in a hospital is barbaric. Being in a hospital with little hope is pretty bad.

Maybe it’s the time of year or time of my life, but these thoughts are troubling.

Hope people make their pets comfortable.

Losing a pet is hard; losing a spouse hardest think I’ve ever endured.

Argh!

Maudlin.

But this is an excellent idea for the ETHICAL treatment of pets and animals.

Did FDR Provoke Pearl Harbor?
By Patrick J. Buchanan
December 9, 2014

*** begin quote ***

At a Nov. 25 meeting of FDR’s war council, Secretary of War Henry Stimson’s notes speak of the prevailing consensus: “The question was how we should maneuver them (the Japanese) into … firing the first shot without allowing too much danger to ourselves.”’

*** end quote ***

After reading Stinnet’s book “Day of Deceit: The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor”   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_Deceit, I joined the “Pearl Harbor advance-knowledge conspiracy theory” believers.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_Harbor_advance-knowledge_conspiracy_theory

While we may never know for sure, we can be sure that the Gooferment, and its politicians and bureaucrats, should NEVER be trusted. EVER!

POLITICAL: Amnesty Costs Exposed

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Obama Lawless Amnesty Costs Exposed – Congress AWOL?

*** begin quote ***

Despite all the budgetary pressure impacting vital programs of importance to the American people, the Obama administration apparently feels there’s still plenty of money to go around for illegal aliens. That’s what we learned back on September 9, 2014 when we obtained documents from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that showed the Obama Administration paid Baptist Children and Family Services (BCFS) $182,129,786 to provide “basic shelter care” to 2,400 “unaccompanied alien children” (UAC) for four months in 2014. The BCFS budget included charges for $104,215,608 for UACs at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and an additional $77,914,178 for UACs at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

These documents were obtained in response to an August 1, 2014, Freedom of Information Act request seeking BCFS applications for funding, correspondence between the HHS Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and BCFS, and correspondence within ACF relating to BCFS. The records we received include the “Budget Information and Project Narrative portions of the BCFS applications funded in calendar 2014” for both the Ft. Sill and the Lackland AFB facilities.

*** end quote ***

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to pay for any of this!
