Obama to skip Memorial day tradition
Posted: May 26, 2010 8:28 AM Updated: May 26, 2010 8:28 AM

*** begin quote ***

WASHINGTON, DC (KSLA) – U.S. President Barack Obama, plans to skip a presidential tradition this Memorial day weekend for a trip back to Chicago.

Traditionally on Memorial day,the current President will lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

*** and ***

What do you think of the President’s plan to return home for Memorial day instead of partaking in the traditional Presidential appearance at Arlington Cemetery?

*** end quote ***

I think that is the ULTIMATE insult to the brave men and women who have paid the ultimate price.

With troops in harm’s way, he’s got chutzpah to claim to be “president”. A President leads. He shows up at Arlington and acknowledges that these honored dead gave full measure of what was asked of them. And, maybe he add that he understands what he, and the nation, are asking from the boys and girls in the foreign fields. Argh!

It communicates a disrespect that is hard to explain away.

Sorry, but he’s … … … a politician!

As a vet, who had it “easy”, I’m disgusted!

RANT: “Pacific” short changed me?

Monday, April 19, 2010

Anyone watching “Pacfic”? It’s the “Band of Brothers” clone but aimed at the Pacific THeater of Ops as opposed to the European.

(You had to be crazy to do some of the stuff ordered. Like Hank’s portrayal of the DDay invasion, or the fire fights in Band of Brothers, only a crazy person would cross and open terrain like that airport under Japanese fire.)

Pacific was scheduled from 9PM to 10PM.

It ended at 9:50PM.

Then there was 10 minutes of filler.

Argh!

I have always thought the opening credit was long, but … …

So are we being “shortchanged”?

I felt so; maybe it’s just me.

Argh!

INSPIRATIONAL: Hero has a heroine for a wife; shame on the VA

Remembering a Hero

*** begin quote ***

Almost everyone knows about Audie Murphy, the most decorated American soldier in World War II. For his combat actions in the European Theater, Murphy received the Congressional Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars and three Purple Hearts.

But fewer know the story of his widow, Pam. After her husband’s death in a 1971 plane crash, Pam Murphy went to work as a clerk at the Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center, a VA facility in North Hills, California.

*** end quote ***

Sounds like a heroic woman married to bona fide war hero.

Argh!

Never heard this story when she was alive; too bad. She deserved her own medals from the VA.

We’ll get VA level service from Obamacare andwe’ll wish she was still around.

POLITICS: Presedential sensitivity?

Obamas’ night out: First WH anniversary
Posted October 3, 2009 10:15 PM

*** begin quote ***

That a simple date at a relatively modestly priced Washington restaurant to celebrate a wedding anniversary – the first for the first couple in the White House – could generate as much venom as it has in these e-pages (see the comments below) on a Sunday suggests something deeply troubling about the American mood.

*** end quote ***

What’s the proper decorum for a President who that very day lost 8 AMericans in Afghanistan?

My understanding is that President Bush gave up golf so as not to appear uncaring. President Obama has been doing lots of things while “vacationing” and “politicking”, while troops were dying.

What is proper?

I still think that there should be politicians at each funeral. Maybe then the cost of their dilettante frivolity about “war” would be Rahm-ed home.

GOVERNACIDE: VA “care”?

6 more cases of botched cancer treatment at Pa. VA

*** begin quote ***

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Six more cases have been found of cancer patients being given incorrect radiation doses at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia. The errors happened in a common surgical procedure to treat prostate cancer. That brings the total to 98 veterans who were given…

Obama44 didn’t mention that in his speech to the VFW. Did he? Guess he just didn’t know.

And these bozos want to run everyone’s health care?

VETS: Brian Bradshaw overshadowed by Michael Jackson

Remembering a Real Hero
from In From the Cold by Spook86

*** begin quote ***

Amid today’s orgy of adulation over Michael Jackson, we should pause and remember real heroes–men and women who paid the ultimate price for this nation, but whose lives go uncelebrated.

U.S. Army Lieutenant Brian Bradshaw was one of individuals. He died on June 25th, the same day that Michael Jackson passed away. But Lieutenant Bradshaw didn’t die in a Hollywood mansion from a drug-induced heart attack. He was killed on a road in Afghanistan, when his vehicle was targeted by an improvised explosive device.

*** end quote ***

Well from now on anytime I hear “michael jackson” I will think of “Brian Bradshaw”! What about you?

INTERESTING: The Greatest Generation wasted in The Unnecessary War

Buchanan’s Necessary Book by Laurence M. Vance

*** begin quote ***

Buchanan’s conclusion will be a tough one for some to swallow: “It was Britain that turned both European wars into world wars.”

Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War is a necessary book.

*** end quote ***

History is written by the “winners” and taught in gooferment skools.

It wasn’t until College that I started to really get into how screwed up the world is.

I learned more history and economics from the Libertarian zealots and Social Justice faculty than most folks.

All war is fought by the common man. He’s the cannon fodder.

There’s a reason why the world’s elite eschew assassination, they might have to take some personal risk. We couldn’t have leaderless gooferments now could we?

Fifth generation war won’t observe that nicety.

Sheeple need to read this book and see how their ancestors were hustled. Then, they could avoid how they are being defrauded and abused.

LIBERTY: Memorial Day; very sad

A lot of good men, and even some women, paid the ultimate price getting us to where we are now. Memorial Day remembers them.

And, that their sacrifice should not be in vane.

Sigh, sadly, I’m not so sure we appreciate it.

RANT: Obama’s healthcare; no better than Hillary’s!

Climb
Conservatives must have the courage to defend their convictions.
By Mark Steyn
Is conservatism over?

*** begin quote ***

It’s a mountain, and it’s getting steeper. Promises of “free” government health care will make more voters susceptible to the blandishments of the nanny state. The Democrats have plans for talk radio and the Internet that will diminish conservative voices. Another retirement on the Supreme Court, and the First and Second Amendments will start getting nibbled away. Obama’s buddies at ACORN, already under investigation in multiple states over fraudulent voter registration, will have a prominent say in the 2010 census.

But, when the going gets tough, you don’t, as General Powell advises, “move toward the center.” You move the center toward you, as Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher did. It’s harder to do it that way, but if it’s a choice between more government and more taxes, or more liberty and more opportunity, I’ll stick with the latter, and so should the Republican party — however difficult it is. Unlike Colin Powell, conservatism does do mountains.

*** end quote ***

Anyone, who is even thinking of being fooled by Obama / Hillary Healthcare, shoudl consider:

(1) We have a working model — the VA healthcare system. Ask any vet!

(2) Will the politicians be using it? Probably not!

(3) Where is the money coming for this? Remember in every college economics class, medical care is used as an example of an “inelastic” demand curve, infinite demand without regard to cost. If medical care is “free”, demand will be “infinite”. So there will be rationing and waiting. Look at England where old people don’t get dialysis. Look at Canada, the wait for an MRI allows cancer to be fatal. (Reminds of the VA where vets are convinced their VA docs want to kill them to reduce the demand!)

(4) Forget privacy. THe government will know everything,

Name one thing that the government does acceptably?

How stupid are we?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment

The American Legion Strongly Opposed to President’s Plan to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment

*** begin quote ***

WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is “deeply disappointed and concerned” after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

“It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. “He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”

*** end quote ***

Here come the “liberal” form of government and how it honors “social contracts”. You go fight for the gooferment and, when you come back hurt, that gooferment will bill your insurance company. That won’t make the insurance companies happy. (I’d expect litigation over that bill!)

Just like “federalizing” the National Guard. It’s a racket.

Argh!
