The administration of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt used tax investigations against political opponents.

President John F. Kennedy used the IRS and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to drive his conservative critics off the radio.

President Lyndon Johnson also used the IRS and the FCC to silence conservative critics.

President Richard Nixon used the IRS to target political enemies. The Nixon administration also threatened television and radio companies with revocation of their broadcast licenses unless they provided favorable coverage of the administration.

During the Clinton administration, the IRS not only targeted conservative and libertarian organizations it audited Paula Jones after she sued President Clinton for sexual harassment.

During the George W. Bush years, the IRS targeted organizations critical of the Iraq War.

When Barack Obama assumed the presidency, the tax agency turned its attention back to conservative and libertarian groups, with a focus on organizations associated with the Tea Party.

So, let’s “nuke” the IRS and the FCC.

Seems like a good start.

Many if the abuses of power all originate from the Federal Gooferment “regulating” “We, The Sheeple”.  Since we are supposed to be a Federal Republic, the Federal Gooferment should only interact with the various State Gooferments that created it.  Leave “We, The People” alone.

Argh!

LBJ’s Double – Cousin Jay Bert Peck – And his Untimely Death

It all started in 1968, when a news item appeared in two national magazines announcing that Lyndon Johnson had a “double,” a man who was known to have “stood-in” for Johnson on a number of occasions when Johnson wanted his presence known to have “existed,” even though he needed to be someplace else at that point in time. Lyndon’s cousin, J. Bert Peck, had a close resemblance to Johnson, and a voice that sounded like him.

The fact that these scenes were originally in the movie, as noted by the news articles above, but deleted at some later point, suggests that someone did not want the fact that Johnson had a “double” to become widely known to the public, at least in such a record that might become permanent, like a movie.  All of which begs the questions, “Who would have had the power to delete that footage, and change the movie description to delete all references to the “presidential” scenes and change the credits to list only “J. B. Pick” (instead of “Peck”) and instead of listing his character name (LBJ) it is only listed as “uncredited.”   One must carefully ponder this question and consider the implications, as part of this exercise in deductive reasoning: “Is it possible that LBJ picked up the telephone and called Jack Valenti one day in August, 1968, and asked (or, more likely, ordered) him to have those changes made to the movie? If not, how then did these obviously telling yet otherwise innocuous set of changes get made, and by whose order?”

There was scarcely any other news about Jay Bert Peck’s murder, except for his obituary two days later.  The abbreviated news coverage on the death of Mr. Peck resulted in yet another unresolved anomaly:  Although he was found by his wife Dorothy shortly after the gunshot, when she ran into the bedroom to find him lying in bed with a bullet wound in the head, there was no indication in any report of a gun ever being found at the scene.

Who indeed?

There are many murders associated with LBJ. Not the least of which is the Kennedy assasination.

I doubt we will ever know the truth.

A body double plays a central role in the Heinlein novel Double Star (1956). So, it’s very plausible.

I don’t know what to make of the whole tale. Except to duct tape my tin foil hat on a little tighter and trust politicians, bureaucrats, …

… and the “media” a lot less. If that’s even possible!

RANT: A conversation about a past war and future ones

I was having an conversation on one of the Yahoo Groups I administrate with a fellow I went to high school with, and wrote this. I thought I’d share my frustration with the Universe.

No, John (my best friend in high school) was an “evader”; he didn’t go to Canada. Just went underground, and was killed in a traffic accident on the 495 around DC in 1972. I’d lost track of him in early 1971. I didn’t find out about it until the 80’s when I by chance met his sister.

My thinking is that this was a national disaster. Some served like you; some went to Canada; others just went underground. A terrible mess. A lot of “casualties” that don’t get recorded anywhere. As a little L libertarian, I just shake my head at the hidden costs of that war, and the others. And, lives disrupted. John DuBois, my cousin Pete, yours, mine, … … all changed by … Johnson, McNamara, other politicians, and bureaucrats. As disasters go, terrible. And, what’s even more puzzling, maddening, frustrating … we didn’t learn squat from the bloody lesson. I read somewhere that the USA has been in 25 “wars” of various sizes since Viet Nam.

I’m sorry I didn’t know you were a WIA. I was just a rear echelon paper pusher. “Defending Maryland” at NSA. I think I did good work, but it wasn’t in the same league with you and the folks under fire. I’m glad you got out of the meat grinder alive. Well done.

I’m conflicted because, while the individuals and their stories are awesome, the strategic blunder that they all were sacrificed in is such … frustrated that I can’t find the right words for it … “wasteful” is the best I can come up with.

I hear the current set of commercials for Wounded Warrior. I combine that with the unfunded liabilities and with the national debt. And I know that once again the vets are pawns in today’s politics. That makes me mad.

Maybe the evaders and “Canadians” were right?

I don’t know.

But, back to the point, I was hoping that “we” could identify Prepsters on The Virtual Wall and make sure their story is recorded somewhere.

Can’t express the outrage I feel with all the politicians and bureaucrats that put “The Republic” and all those young girls and boys in harms way. “Chicken Hawks” are about the politest epithet I can level at them. If they’re so anxious to get in a shooting war with say Iran, then why aren’t they on the front lines. Or Shut The <synonym for the act of procreation> Up!

Argh!
