GUNS: Fort Hood is a gun free zone?

Time to Put An End to Army Bases as Gun-Free Zones
John R. Lott, Jr.

*** begin quote ***

For the safety of our soldiers and citizens, we hope that this simple fact about the Ft. Hood attack and the role that gun-free zones played in allowing yet another multiple victim public shooting becomes part of the news coverage itself. The political debate about guns would be quite different if even once in a while a news story clearly explained that there has been another multiple victim public shooting in a gun-free zone.

*** end quote ***

I don’t understand. Like arming the commercial air line pilots, don’t we trust these guys? Hard to imagine a worse outcome. Terrorists and criminals don’t observe laws; honest people do. For that, we give them a death sentence.

But, then you know I want to arm the school principals, janitors, and teachers.

The gun is just a tool to dispose of varmints — two legged and four legged.

I trust my fellow citizens. Don’t you?

Eagle Scout suspended from school over pocket knife (10/08/09)
A NEWS10 EXCLUSIVE
By MARK O’BRIEN

*** begin quote ***

LANSINGBURGH — High school senior Matthew Whalen is the kind of student any parent would want.

He’s an Eagle Scout, on the honor roll, taking Advanced Placement classes, and never been in trouble with the law. He’s received commendations from the City of Troy and the Boy Scouts of America for saving a woman’s life, and this past summer, he completed Army basic training. All of it was accomplished before the age of 17.

“I’m just trying to do what I can while I can,” Matthew says.

His goal is to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a dream since he was in grade school.

“I have a first-grade yearbook that says I want to be driving tanks in the Army,” Matthew says. “I mean, this is something that I know I’ve always wanted to do.”

But the dream could be in jeopardy, thanks to a two-inch pocket knife that officials at Lansingburgh Senior High School found in Matthew’s locked car last month. The pocket knife was a gift from his grandfather, Robert Whalen, who’s the Hoosick Falls Police Chief. Matthew says he kept the knife in a side compartment and never tried showing it off or threatening anyone with it. Instead it was a part of the survival kit that was his car.

The article goes on to comment on a tire iron being a “weapon”. How about the car being its own weapon?

Ready, Aim, Fire! (An Index Card Novel)

Obeying a direct order to fire on fellow Americans has not been seen since the 1860s. So, this dynamic is a wild card. How many law enforcement and military personnel will obey such an order?

+++++

He was a young high school graduate. The local high school was average at best. The teacher’s union ran the State. Education was a secondary consideration. That didn’t matter to his Mom. She was a naturalized citizen. Engrish was not her first language. But everyone knew the sacrifices she made to get to the land of opportunity. And, having made it here, every opportunity would be her child’s. She badgered his teachers, her minister, their neighbors, and even her postman. She had reading lists galore. She would sit with all the children as they did their lessons. She was a hard taskmistress. There was no goofing off; no “breaks”. She’d ask questions. Hard ones. As someone who just didn’t understand, he had to explain everything. It helped him learn.

+++++

He had a nice entry level job. A part-time job. And he joined the State Guard as another adder. Within a year he was a squad leader. It wasn’t hard, but he was busy. He was saving money. Part-time at the local community college had him on his trek to “education”. He was amazed how “stupid” his class mates and workmates. They were just oblivious to everything they could have if they just tried.

+++++

A flood led to the call. The Guard was called out. His squad was detailed to “looter suppression”. The Captain looked him straight in the eye and said: “Curfew violations: shoot them!” Then, later he was told: “Seize any weapons. Before they can be used against us.” Finally, he heard: “Round up anyone left and put them on the trucks to the camp. For everyone’s own good.”

+++++

His squad was in the center of the line. Citizens were outraged at the restrictions. The deportations. The attempted weapons collection. They were marching on the Military Government’s HQ. They were mad as hell. The Captain ordered: “Fix bayonets. Fire when you see the flare.” He looked at the people. Eyeballs. Big and small. A mix of races, sexes, and ages. The flare went up.

He thought of his Mom. And, all the lessons. And, gave the order!

“Safe your weapons!”

He’d joined the Revolution.

WRITING: Nous allons vous rembourser! (An index card novel)

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

It was a no name French village. He was a no name GI. The young girl was huddled with her brothers and sisters in a corner of the basement. Cold. Dirty. Starving. His squad had learned the bitter combat lesson to leave no stone unturned. Snakes can come out to bite. Hidden enemies bypassed kill; they don’t meekly surrender. Many comrades would not be going home who failed to watch their A double Q and, when time permitted, everyone diligently looked for snake dens in their rear. So, his squad found the parentless family led by a strong heroic young woman. A camp stove started warming up the hole in the ground. Calling it a basement implied there was a house over head. What do you call a hole covered by debris? They called it home. Precious blankets were distributed. The gift would warm the men’s hearts more than mere cloth. They’d get replacements; there were always replacements. Food was easy. Rations were always in large supply. Not gourmet, but they prevent starvation. As the squad moved out, the “old” beyond her years girl said: “Bon ami, nous allons vous rembourser!” (“Good friend, we will pay you back.)

+++++

It was a no name village in America. She was a no name French girl. In her proud blue beret, she was there to save the Americans from themselves. World leaders agreed. Troops moved in to quell the violence after the collapse. And, to collect debts long owed. Like the police restoring order to a fraternity party of consumption that had gone on for sixty years. It was not fair. Three per cent of the population consumed half of the world’s stores and wrote bad checks to pay for it besides. Always a proud country, the Americans had shoved their brand of “freedom” down everyone’s throat. But, now the UN was in charge. Sort of. The guns had been collected by the Obamaites. Part of making America safe for politicians, bureaucrats, and criminals of color. So for the most part, her mission was just tax collection and “peace keeping”. Peace was what the masters defined it as. Collecting wealth was easy. The Sheriff of Nottingham had a lighter hand. Time these Americans learned to bow to their European betters. Her squad was surveying the village for resettlement to a reeducation camp. It would be cleared soon. And the ground returned to the Global Ecological Trust. The small young boy was found huddled with his even younger brothers and sisters in a corner of the basement. Cold. Dirty. Starving. Her squad had learned the bitter combat lesson to leave no stone unturned. Snakes can come out to bite. Hidden enemies bypassed kill; they don’t meekly surrender. Many comrades would not be going home who failed to watch their A double Q and, when time permitted, the squad diligently looked for snake dens in their rear. So, her squad found the parentless family led by a strong heroic very young boy. A camp stove started warming up the hole in the ground. Calling it a basement implied there was a house over head. What do you call a hole covered by debris? They called it home. Precious blankets were distributed. The gift would warm the hearts of the gallant squad men and women more than mere cloth. They’d get replacements; there were always replacements. Food was easy. Rations were always in large supply. Not gourmet, but they prevent starvation. As the squad moved out, the children rushed them. Thinking they were going to get hugs of affection and pleadings not to leave, the squad was surprised. Murphy got them. Improvised knives plunged into breasts and slashed throats. Some caress. Some hug. Weapons were seized and a new guerrilla squad would soon be armed. The blue beret-ed squad would not walk away that day. It was essential that the revolution not leave any survivors to report this devastating tactic. Soon, too soon, the “young boy” would either be killed, or too old to slip beneath the radar. He’d cross that bridge when he came to it. As the “family” moved out to deliver their arms booty to waiting men, they would then once again make themselves “unarmed” and vulnerable; setting another deadly ambush. Living to fight another day. To kill. How many more tyrants? How many more ambushes? Before their luck would run out? The “young boy”, now an “old man”, old beyond his callendar thirteen years, said to the many cooling corpses: ‘Récupération de la pute, salope!” (Payback’s a bitch, bitch!)

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: The Government is arming the drug cartels?

Who Is Arming the Mexican Drug Cartels?
by Michael Gaddy

*** begin quote ***

Wednesday, on MSNBC, in an interview by Andrea Mitchell, New York Congressional Representative, Nita Lowey stated 97% of the guns in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels originated in the US. Representative Lowey, in her support for a new Assault Weapons Ban, alleges these firearms are coming from the American gun owner. She is correct in her assertion many of the firearms being used by the cartels are coming from Americans. They are, but, from the American taxpayer, not the American gun owner!

The fact is: the Mexican authorities have refused to release the serial numbers of weapons confiscated from drug cartel members. Releasing the serial numbers would implicate the corrupt governments of the US and Mexico and their involvement in arming the drug cartels.

Considering the above, it is my belief the Mexican drug cartels are procuring a large percentage of weapons from the world’s largest supplier of these weapons: the United States government!

*** end quote ***

Certainly sounds like it.

We could eliminate this non-sense by ending the “drug war” in the US.

Imagine a country where what you put in your body was your personal business.

End welfare and then there’s no illegal immigrants.

End the drug war and let WalMart become the nation’s “drug dealer”.

Bet they do a far better job of cleaning up the problem.

Bud and Miller route salesmen don’t shoot it out.

No more drug overdose deaths from drugs cut with rat poison or not cut at all.

GUNS: It’s a case of WHEN not IF; it’s about our WILL

State Imperative – Confiscation of Privately Owned Weapons by Tim Case

*** begin quote ***

Far too often the concern regarding gun ownership has revolved around the question: “Will the government seek to take our firearms?” This has consistently been the wrong inquiry; it should never have been “will,” but rather “when will.” The former is implicit with the addition of the Second Amendment to the Constitution while the latter is subject to a number of real or imagined threats to the state.

*** end quote ***

The RIGHT to Keep and Bear Arms (RKBA) is recognized in the Second Amendment to the Constitution. It flows from the basic RIGHT to life. Everyone has that RIGHT, but the have to fight for it.

As mental experiment, be a Jew in Germany when the thugs come to take you to the death camps. If each man had a gun and the courage to use it on the first thug through his door, the Nazis would have soon run out of thugs. One at a time. I can see the conversation: “No, Heinz, you go first. I insist.”

It’s not funny.

We have had the Japanese Internment. Waco, Ruby Ridge.

And, it took 50 years for FDR’s involvement in Pearl Harbor to become public.

Sorry, maybe I’m a tin foil hat? I am a “birther”.

Each man and woman will have to decide when they are the Jew in the apartment. The “Jap” in San Francisco. The Branch Davidian. The mother at Ruby Ridge.

When do you resist? Each one us will have to decide for ourselves. What is your line in the sand? When they are loading you and your family on the train to the “work camp”?

Genocide can only be done by a gooferment on an unarmed population.

Gooferment is the meme that kills!

Another Bright Shining Lie
by Michael Gaddy

*** begin quote ***

The state has many weapons in its arsenal to keep Boobus ignorant of their illegal, unconstitutional activities and in compliance with its confiscatory tax and slavery system. In all likelihood, the two most often used of these weapons are fear and prevarication.

Our new US Attorney General/Race Agitator, Eric Holder, last week used a bright shining lie in his advocating the introduction of a new Assault Weapons Ban. (AWB) He stated:

“Putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border. I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum.”

What a crock; believing the fantastically wealthy drug cartels actually secure their weapons from America is analogous to taking a hamburger to a steak dinner. The drug cartels use their millions, if not billions, to purchase some of the finest weaponry that can be had, far exceeding the firepower of their state-armed opponents in both Mexico and the US.

*** end quote ***

I agree that Holder is peddling “barbara streisand”!

We could pacify the Mexico, Columbia, and Afgan drug lords with one stroke of a pen.

End the psuedo-Drug War now!

What does a Drug Kingpin do when WalMart becomes your competitor? Drive a cab.

All we have to do is recognize that people make bad choices. We just don’t have to use the guns or government to inflict more pain on everyone.

I’ve read estimates that there is a “residual addiction rate”. Some people you will just be unable to keep from being addicted; no matter what you do.

I’ve seen estimates that ending the drug prohibition will actually reduce the addiction rate to the residual since there will no longer be the allure of “doing something illegal” to the young people.

I’ve read estimates that the cost of “illegal” drugs will drop to the cost of aspirin and that the marketplace’s (i.e., WalMart, RiteAid, Walgreen, CVS) “drugs” will be USP grade. (No more deadly overdoses from too strong street drugs or side effects of it being cut with rat poison.)

And, what does the gooferment have to do to accomplish this. Absolutely nothing but pass a law decriminalizing drugs. Closing the DEA, BATF, and FDA would also be a good idea.

Why won’t they? Money, power, and a scary “issue”.

President Obama could pardon ALL non-violent drug offenders.

And a cow could jump over the moon!

It’s all “barbara streisand”!

The powers that be like it this way so this is the way it will stay.

We have to end this nonsense the same way “We, The People” ended alcohol prohibition. In the jury box.

When you’re in the jury room hearing a drug case, and no one got killed, vote “NOT GUILTY”. Don’t discuss it. Don’t preach. Don’t say anything but “The State didn’t prove their case!”

The Drug War will be over in a heartbeat. The Gun Violence will follow soon after that.

WalMart will be selling drugs. Think they will sell to children? Think they won’t offer help? THink that they will have gun battle with the near by WalGreens?

Over stuff that has the profit margin of aspirin?

It’s all “barbara streisand”! And, we put up with it!!

Argh!

GUNS: Will Plaxico become a RKBA advocate? UPDATED

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

http://www.keyc.com/node/14010

November 30, 2008 at 5:39am

*** begin quote ***

After allegedly shooting himself in the right thigh Friday night at a popular Manhattan nightclub, New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Buress faces charges.Buress’s attorney telling the AP, the N-F-L er will turn himself in on Monday and will likely enter a plea of ”not guilty.”Buress faces the charge of criminal possession of a weapon, it’s not clear whether he has a permit for the gun.

*** end quote ***

Interesting. Now, will he have the courage to mount a Constitutional challenge to the draconian NYC “Gun Control” aka “victim disarmament” laws!
Hope he does!
# # # # #
In a far more lucid explanation:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/kramer/kramer22.html

*** begin quote ***

In a free society, Burress would be responsible for paying his hospital bill and for any damage to the nightclub, after which he could put the whole unpleasant accident behind him and get on with his life.

Instead, the State is going to ruin Burress’ career and life, and cause unspeakable anguish for his loved ones, by locking him in a cage inside a socialist hellhole for a “crime” that hurt no one except for himself – and even that, just barely. The only victim in this “crime” is Burress.

*** end quote ***

AND, he has an absolute Constitutional right to defend himself with what ever tools he deems necessary. Mayor Mike Bloomberg did NOT get all upset about the football celebrity friend of Plaxico who was robbed at gunpoint earlier that week.

Indeed, if we “convict” Plaxico of anything, it would be “failure to properly equip himself” with a suitable holster.

Guns don’t go in waistbands. (That for the movies.) And, you certainly don’t point the end with the hole anywhere near your family jewels.

All in all, after you finish laughing at the idea of a wide receiver fumbling the gun, you should be outraged at the politicians who put us in this absurdity int he first place.

By the way, when Mayor Mike takes his famous subway ride to work, he had FOUR armed cops as body guards with him AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE. Sure, he’s for “gun control” aka “victim disarmament”; he doesn’t need to protect himself!

Argh!

UPDATE: 12/20/08

The life and death cost of gun control
Hawaii Reporter
by John R. Lott Jr.

“Banning guns is in the news. India practically bans guns, but that didn’t stop the horrific Muslim terrorist attacks this last week. A football player concerned for his safety violates New York City’s tough gun control regulations by carrying a concealed handgun, and people call for everything from banning NFL players from carrying guns to demanding that the athlete serve many years in jail. Where is the sympathy or debate in either case over letting people defend themselves? Given that the terrorists smuggled their machine guns in with them, would anyone argue that India’s extremely strict gun licensing and artificially high prices for guns helped prevent the terrorist attacks? In fact, the reverse is more likely the case.” (12/17/08)

GUN: Use a tool; need support?

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

MA: Gun-rights advocates stand by Worcester worker – Boston Herald

“Antiviolence and gun-rights backers banded together yesterday in support of a Worcester liquor store clerk who shot and killed a masked man who allegedly pulled a gun on him during an attempted robbery. … ‘It sounds like a cfear-cut case of self-defense, which is what the Second Amendment is really all about,’ said Jim Wallace, director of the Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts. ‘The (clerk) was properly lawfully in possession of a firearm. It sounds like a win-win situation.’ Forty-year-old Evan Louis Rivera, who entered the store with another masked man, pointed a gun at one of the clerks and one of the clerks fired back, striking Rivera multiple times, police said. Rivera died 45 minutes later. John Rosenthal, co-founder of Stop Handgun Violence and a rifle owner, said he supports responsible gun ownership and the use of firearms in self-defense.” (12/12/08)

How Gun Control Laws Contributed To the Mumbai Slaughter
Posted by Butler Shaffer at November 30, 2008 07:14 PM

*** begin quote ***

An interesting article, from October, 2005, provided by http://www.gunowners.org:

Gun Control And Self-defense Against Terrorism In India
by Abhijeet Singh
Colonial Roots of Gun-Control

I live in India and I am a proud firearm owner — but I am the exception not the norm, an odd situation in a country with a proud martial heritage and a long history of firearm innovation. This is not because the people of India are averse to gun ownership, but instead due to Draconian anti-gun legislation going back to colonial times.

*** end quote ***

I blogged about this when I first heard it.

It’s not “gun control”; it’s “victim disarmament”!

Interesting how Colonial Laws from one set of politicians are quickly “updated” by another set of politicians. They all fear an armed people.

Riots? The Korean grocers showed how to end mob rule very quickly.

Gun rights, aka the right to defend yourself, is actually also a “women’s rights” issue.

The Holocaust demonstrated what happens when scapegoats are unarmed.

British home invasions, when the homes are occupied, skyrocket with “victim disarmament”!

Apparently the Indian slaughter in Mumbai was pulled off by 10 criminals. Reports have armed police refusing to fire on them. And, the “crack commandos” were like the Keystone Kops. (Remember Columbine, where the “heroic” police encircled the school, until the criminals finished killing everyone and themselves?)

Remember how Israeli schools and daycare centers were targeted until armed grandparents started providing security. And, the last massacre was on a school trip where guns were not permitted.

Wake up folks! Criminals don’t obey laws. Kops are just gooferment bureaucrats who are there to clean up the bodies and fill out paperwork. Dial 911 and die.

Of interest was in the 2006 article, the Indian writer cited Gandhi, the Dali Lama, Lenin, and a slew of the DOWGs! Fascinating.

“Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.” — Mahatma Gandhi (An Autobiography OR The story of my experiments with truth, by M.K. Gandhi, p.238)

“If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.” — The Dalai Lama, (May 15, 2001, The Seattle Times) speaking at the “Educating Heart Summit” in Portland, Oregon, when asked by a girl how to react when a shooter takes aim at a classmate

“A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie.” — Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

“I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”— George Mason

Mumbai’s Harsh Lesson on Gun Control
By Abhijeet Singh

*** begin quote ***

At the Jewish outreach centre, bystanders pelted the terrorists with stones in a vain attempt to ward off the attack, but had to retreat when the terrorists opened fire with automatic rifles. Our citizens were trying to ward off the terrorists with stones! I cannot think of a more extreme example of how helpless the government has rendered it’s own citizens. In the absence of guns, and thus incapable of offering any resistance, they were simply like lambs to the slaughter. On that fateful day, this was a story repeated again and again all over Mumbai: unarmed civilians, slow & inept emergency services, and mindless slaughter of innocents.

But we live in a democracy; hence at the end of the day it is each one of us who is to blame. It is we the people who must ask our representatives hard questions; it is we who must bring the right to bear arms to the forefront of the political agenda. We have the power to effect change through our votes and with elections just a few months away, let us not forget the lessons of Mumbai, let us not forget those that lost their lives there, many of who could have been saved if just a few of us were armed.

GUNS: Menedez is anti-gun freedom. What a surprise!

Thursday, November 6, 2008

From: “Senator Robert Menendez” <Senator_Menendez@menendez.senate.gov>

Date: November 5, 2008 11:48:47 AM EST

To: Reinke

Subject: Re: From Senator Menendez’s Website

Dear Mr. Reinke:

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns regarding the National Capital Security and Safety Act (H.R. 6842). I appreciate the opportunity to hear your views on this important issue.

As you may know, the National Capital Security and Safety Act will make significant negative changes to the District of Columbia’s existing firearms law. For example, this legislation would repeal the District of Columbia’s current ban on semiautomatic assault weapons, as well as it’s prohibition on individuals carrying guns in public. It would eliminate the District of Columbia’s firearm registration system and do away with criminal background checks for secondhand gun purchases. In a nutshell, it will require the District to remove all restrictions on gun ownership that go beyond the minimum federal requirements and would prohibit the District from adopting gun regulations from other cities and states. I find this legislation to be unacceptable.

Like many issues that come before the United States Congress, the issue of gun control has two sides, each of which is strongly and passionately defended by its supporters. As your Senator, I firmly believe in the right of all citizens to use firearms responsibly to protect one’s home and family. I also support safe recreational use of guns, as long as participants act responsibly. I do not, however, support gun use by all people in all situations, and I am committed to keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and those that will use them to do harm. I believe the National Capital Security and Safety Act could have a considerable negative impact on safety and security in the nation’s capital. Therefore, I cannot support it. Although this bill passed through the House of Representatives with the support of the National Rifle Association by a vote of 266-152, I will continue to work to improve the bill on the Senate side so that a safe and reasonable gun control law can be enacted.

Again, thank you for contacting me regarding this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of concern. I invite you to visit my website (http://menendez.senate.gov) to learn of other important issues to New Jersey.
