Only one in every six million people have the Rh null blood type. Now researchers are trying to grow it in the laboratory in the hope it could save lives.

Blood transfusions have transformed modern medicine. If we are ever unlucky enough to be injured or need serious surgery, blood that has been donated by others can be life-saving.

But not everyone is able to benefit from this remarkable procedure. People with rare blood types struggle to find donated blood that will match their own.

One of the rarest – the Rh null blood type – is found in just 50 known people in the world. Should they ever be in an accident that needs a transfusion, their chances of getting one are slim. Those with Rh null are instead encouraged to freeze their own blood for long-term storage.

Seriously, due to my now sainted wife’s terminal illness, I have donated a lot of blood and platelets.

In ingineering skrule, Brother Austin Barry would always give us time off from lab work to donate blood. His rationale was that we were too dumb to do anything useful in the lab and he would not have to worry that we were killing our selves of others in the lab. (He accidentally electrocuted himself in the lab one year, but it didn’t shock him back to sanity.)

The tin foil hat brigade has (imho rightly) pointed out that the RNA covid “vaccine” (that revised the definition of vaccine) has many side effects. They urge the unvaxed to store their own blood and the rest of us should insist on unvaxed blood for transfusions. (IMHO if I need a transfusion, I think the RNA fragments are the least of my worries!)

First, there are currently 47 known blood groups and 366 different antigens, as of October 2024. That means that a person receiving an O negative donation could still have an immune reaction to any of the other antigens present – although some antigens provoke more of an immune response than others.

Learning that there are so many blood groups and antigens has alerted me to inquire what my loved one’s blood characteristics are. The article warns that you may not find out that you are one of the “unlucky winners” of an “immune response”. It would seem that everyone should get this information!

This story has a very happy ending. It appears that several groups of companies and scientists are hot on the quest for a universal donor “golden” Rh null blood type artificial blood. That would obviate the need for blood which always seems to be in short or near short supply.

Until that day comes, I urge everyone to donate. I’m too old now and they don’t want “old” blood, but I would if I could. Argh!

I wonder how much of “history” is nothing more than a “shared false memory”.  And, if written “history” is a false memory, then what is oral “history” passed down through generations?

So it sounds like that JoHari window quadrant IV (i.e., what we both can’t see) is suddenly HUGE!

Now with “AI”, whatever that is, with its “hallucinations” and fake video creations, make even more “evidence” unreliable. The legal system has proven that “eyewitness” testimony is very fallible.  And, even forensic “evidence” has to be suspect.

What can we “know” or “believe”?

Why does the Mandela Effect happen?

Arlin Cuncic, a psychologist and author based in Canada, said the Mandela Effect is ‘unreliable and not infallible’.

She points to a memory error called confabulation – where the brain fills in gaps that are missing in your memories to make more sense of them.

Another theory for the basis for the Mandela effect relates to the idea that rather than one timeline of events, alternate realities or universes may be taking place and mixing with our timeline.

This far-fetched idea continues to gain traction among online Mandela effect communities but is closer to the realm of science fiction.

Prior to FDR, one could stack gold coins and save for your old age secure in the knowledge that your wealth could nit be silently stolen by the Gooferment via “inflation”.

The Dead Old White Guys knew what we have apparently forgotten as a society.  Having lived thru an era of “not worth a Continental damn”, they knew that papa money was the Devil’s spawn.  

I’ve posted many blog posts about “pony candy” and well-remember life was better when money was “honest”.

The House reconvenes today and is expected to vote on a Senate bill to reopen the government. The vote comes on the 43rd day of the US’ longest shutdown.

Seven Democrats and one independent joined 52 Republicans to pass the Senate bill, which would fund much of the government through January. The Agriculture Department—which facilitates SNAP food benefits to 42 million Americans—would be funded through September 2026. The bill does not extend COVID-era healthcare subsidies for 24 million people who purchase plans under the Affordable Care Act. Democratic leaders had sought to make reopening the government conditional on extending those subsidies, due to expire Dec. 31. ACA marketplace premiums are projected to rise up to 30%, from 18%, without an extension. Federal health subsidies cost an estimated $1.8T in 2023, roughly 7% of the US gross domestic product.

Separately, airlines canceled an estimated 6% of flights at 40 of the US’ busiest airports yesterday amid ongoing air traffic controller shortages.

Why is the Gooferment regulating and operating “Aviation”?

It should ONLY be regulating as necessary. Clearly a consortium of commercial airlines could do a better job and cheaper. Surely a private entity would not be running on 1950’s hardware and software. Additionally, the Gooferment is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy. So, there would be efficiencies and cost reductions.

This goes for Air Traffic Control and Airports.

Now there would have to be some role for “private aviation” and “military aviation” in this consortium. But those details can be worked out between the parties involved.

Airports would be just like any other corporate establishment regulated by the state or local Gooferment.

I can see a much better future once we #privatizetheFAA!

​Seems like an over prescribed med.  Wonder when we’ll see the ads “if you were hurt by Gabapentin, call 1-800-gab-pent to join our class action suit”.  Of course, like all “class actions”, only the lawyers get rich.
 
And, like thalidomide, when do the bad effects become visible?
 
Married to a chronic pain after amputation sufferer, she report that it’s “not very effective and only dulls the pain for an hour”.  If so, why bother?
 
Wonder when we will see the studies about ill-effects and Big Pharma abuses?
