RANT: NJ State Government … corrupt to the core.
Monday, February 5, 2007Jim G. on 1015 is exposing the slugs ‘n’ thugs in Trenton for the hippo-crits they are. (Hippo = a large dangerous animal and “crit” for the gang like the bloods)!! In Jim’s rant, he points out that they are trying to pull the wool over the taxpayer’s eyes. When you disassemble the “tax cut”, it is meaningless.
He also picked up another “drum”. PA is bigger and has more people than NJ, yet their state budget is about a third less than “our”.
This of course overlooks the moral argument. What give you the right to rob me to pay for your kid’s education? What gives the State the right to run “education” which is merely brainwashing future “citizens”? And why is the State permitted to run such an inefficient operation with so much corruption?
The answer: They have the guns!

Teen Strikes Back in Clash With Record Labels

Robert Santangelo, 16, his sister and his mother have all been sued by record companies for allegedly sharing music files illegally. Now Santangelo has struck back, raising a 32-point defense, demanding a jury trial and filing a counterclaim against the companies that accuses them of damaging his reputation and conspiring to defraud the courts of the United States.
A 16-year-old boy being sued by five record companies accusing him of online music piracy accused the recording industry on Tuesday of violating antitrust laws, conspiring to defraud the courts and making extortionate threats.
*** AND ***
Robert Santangelo also claims that the record companies, which have filed more than 18,000 piracy lawsuits in federal courts, “have engaged in a wide-ranging conspiracy to defraud the courts of the United States.”
The papers allege that the companies, “ostensibly competitors in the recording industry, are a cartel acting collusively in violation of the antitrust laws and public policy” by bringing the piracy cases jointly and using the same agency “to make extortionate threats … to force defendants to pay.”

This law is un-American. We have always stood for the rights of the individual to a fair proceeding. Aside for the “small” fact that torture is immoral, it is also inefficient. When under duress, people will tell you what they think you want to hear. It’s ineffective because after torture, if the person was NOT your sworn enemy before it, they certainly will be afterwards. Stop it now.

RANT: NJ School tragic accident — the system’s reaction
Tuesday, January 23, 2007On today’s morning news, the prison guards aka the school government workers are meeting to come up with ways to prevent that “tragic accident” from recurring.
Admirable idea.
What do you think the chances are that the “guards” will even think about closing the “prison camp”?
Zero is my guess.
Of course all the remaining inmates, and all future inmates, at that particular institution of detainment will suffer the wisdom of fools as new “great ideas” are tried on them.
Oh I am sure it will be “just to keep our children safe”.
When do the inmates stop being “children”?
Now the deaths of four people is bad. The deaths of three young people is bad. But, let’s not overlook some specific responsibilities.
(1) The driver (?) for operating that car in an unsafe manner and violating the law by probably speeding and having other juveniles in the car. (So how does adding MORE laws change anything.)
(2) The parents (?) for failure to train, supervise, and equip their offspring for life.
(3) The school for imprisoning them … …
(I can hear the collective “huh” out there.)
Yup, if there was no law mandating them to be at the Government Youth Propaganda Camp for most of their day, where their little minds full of mush were filled with more mush, like self-esteem and self-confidence, then (that might have killed them) they could have been at home being schooled by their family.
Or maybe working at a business gaining real skills and an appreciation for for how much cars and car insurance costs.
Certainly there would have been no escaping from the penal colony at the end of day and feeling the need to be “free”. Perhaps they were throwing off their shackles and feeling freedom.
It’s a shame that they thought they were indestructible. I wonder where they could have learned such a silly concept?
So I blame the driver, the parents, the school, and the politicians who made such stupid laws like “mandatory attendance” and “government run education”. That’s what killed those four people!

JelloBiafra,
You can’t possibly think that soliciting sex from minors over the internet is on par with removing 5 classified documents and notes about them from Archives. One of those crimes is a serious violation of the rights of a human being, while the other is at most a minor security risk. Why would ABC need to report about the Sandy Berger story? He confessed! And besides, the DOJ and NARA seemed very eager to investigate him, a member of the Democratic Party. Is that a conspiarcy, too? Sure, Berger did a stupid thing and an illegal thing, but he did not violate the rights of children. I’m sick that you would even equate the two.

We don’t know for sure WHAT Berger did. Nor why. We, because a sweetheart plea deal, lost any opportunity to turn the screws on him to find out: EXACTLY what he did and at whose behest and or benefit. It could be an INDICTMENT of BOTH President Clinton and Bush. Removing something that embarrasses both of them is just the type of thing that would get a win, nod, and handshake of both parties. A political mulligan for want of a better term. This is exactly the type of corruption that shakes to the core any belief in the basic honesty of politicians. While Foley and the pages is disgustingly terrible, undermining the legitimacy of the government is HUGE imho.
RANT: Seaside Heights property tax “reevaluation”
Tuesday, January 16, 2007Well, the fist salvo in what will be a long expensive war was fired last night.
I was mildly surprised that the “reeval company rep” was there last night. But, they were. And we, Frau and I, got another taste of what it’s like to “rent” one’s property from the gubamint.
In essence, they gave us some verbal Barbara Striesand about computer model. (And, you know how much that was worth to me. I gotta few computers and can “model” too.)
Basically, they took two sales on our block, as comparable, subtracted their swag about what the building was worth, and divided by the square footage to come out with a number. Take that number and multiply by the 20 by 100 lot we “own”. And, pouf, the land was worth 315k.
(Sell!)
After some fast thinking, I pointed out that these “comparables” were:
(1) Year round legal two families hence they may have under-valued the buildings and thus over-valued the underlying land.
(2) That small undevelopable lots are not worth the same as larger developable lots.
(3) The read of the lot was “unusable” because it is “landlocked” and as such you can’t practically or economically do anything with it. I cited just putting some rocks down in the back to control weeds was three times as expensive for us because they had to be wheel barrowed down an alley. Takes a lot of wheel barrows to make tons.
(4) We were preempted by zoning from using that back 40 feet from making a two family like our neighbors making the land less valuable.
(5) Everyone else has parking; we don’t. Makes our property worth a lot lot less. And, there was no way to remedy that defect.
I couldn’t think of anything else. Did I miss anything?
He dutifuly took notes on all our points, nicely promised to send it back to HQ, and we would get a response shortly.
Guess the next step is to hire an attorney?
I’ve been “drafted” as a foot soldier in this war on our pocketbook.
I wonder how much success I’ll have with Constitutional issues. No taxation without representation. I didn’t agree to government schools or spending.
I’m also warming up my tactical arguments. Did everybody get charged the same square foot rate? Politicians, businesses, landlords, voters? That will be an entertaining question. I don’t think so!
Let the games begin.
RANT: The inheritance tax is nothing more than grave robbing
Thursday, January 11, 2007I went to the lawyer, signed an estate tax return, and now will pay the State a goodly chunk of change. Why would anyone die in NJ and leave money to other than a relative? Answer, when one has no relatives. I guess the thugs in Trenton figure it’s a safe theft. There’s no victim to complain. Beneficiaries are getting a windfall that they don’t have to pay taxes on. Little do they know that the taxes were paid long before the get a dime. While the feds have eliminated estate taxes, the sates have not. So this grave robbing is “legal”. It may be immoral, ineffective, and efficient. But they get away with it. The lawyer was telling me about a well-off lady who’s husband died and to keep the family farm in Princeton, she had to pay estate taxes that amount to everything else she had. I envision that if there is an Eternal reward, then the politicians who allowed this to happen deserve a special seat close to the fire. Grave robbers!

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (Reuters) — New Jersey is to consider cutting the word ‘idiot’ from its constitution so that people with some mental disabilities won’t be barred from voting. State Senate President Richard Codey introduced a bill Monday that would remove language from the New Jersey constitution that was designed more than 150 years ago to prevent people suffering from mental illness or handicap from casting their vote in national, state or local elections.

With all the pressing issues of the day, it’s nice to see that the “idiots” in office have time to handle this pressing issue. RANT: And, yesterday, I tried to get Chase to correct a mistake
Sunday, January 7, 2007AND, I ran into a Branch Manager who was definitely incompetent. Figure I have this estate stuff down cold now having done it twice. She really just wanted to get rid of me.
I go in bright and chipper having just done some banking at Wachovia on another matter in zip time. I was going to be done and get back in time for coffee.
I go in and explain my tale. She first wants to give me cash from the estate account. I politely explained she can’t do that and I certainly can’t accept it. All I want her to do is complete my previous September transaction (i.e., convert regular individual account into an estate account). Chase supposedly did it and transferred it to an Estate Account at Wachovia. No problems. But evidently someone made a mistake cause one account wasn’t closed and money was left behind. I spent ninety minutes trying to complete this simple task. And, she basically told me that she didn’t know what was done, but she could not help me. Every time she spoke to “branch support”, she described it as if I wanted a “distribution”. So their response was to ask for a “tax waiver”! I didn’t want a “distribution”, I merely wanted it “rolled over” to an Estate Account. Arghhh! I explained it two her at least FOUR times and she just didn’t or wouldn’t get it.
If I had an account at chase, then it wouldn’t be there very long. Argh!!!

Amish Refusal to Accept Food Stamps Makes Welfare Workers Look Bad

This story from the Cleveland Plain Dealer is a couple of months old, but it’s a fascinating example of how government tries to insist on “helping” people who are not so evidently in need of its “help.” The Ohio Office of Family Stability is demanding that local welfare workers somehow get Amish people to sign up for food stamps. Why? Just because they are eligible on the basis of income. By refusing to sign up, the Amish are lowering the local food stamp participation rates which makes the agency look bad.

Who owns a donated organ?
By Kathryn Lewis
Posted Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at 6:14 PM ET

Two weeks ago, New York state’s highest court ruled that you can’t sue an organ donor network for giving away a kidney, even if the donor’s family wanted you to have it. The case began several years ago, when a widow named her husband’s childhood friend as the recipient of his kidneys. The friend died of renal failure in June, and his family wants to sue the network for donating one of the kidneys to someone else. Who owns a donated organ?
*** end quote ***
Libertarian believe that we own ourselves.
Really, if you don’t own your own body, who does? The essence of non-aggression principle begins with self-ownership. Who gave the State, Government, or anyone else control over one’s own body. In principle, we agree with the feminist argument “my body; my choice”. In fact the whole argument over abortion boils down to the government telling people what they can or can’t do. As a pro-life Libertarian, I grieve over the number of abortions, but I wouldn’t not dream of putting the government in change. We SHOULD be able to find better answers, but first the government has to stop mucking about with its diktats.
So, if we own our own bodies, then why can’t we own the organs?
Clearly, if there was a free market in organs, then we wouldn’t have transplant lists. And, don’t say that the poor would be prevented from getting transplants. Look at the charities that spring up for the needy. Look what hospitals and doctors do Pro Bono.
Do we need diktats to prevent people from buying and selling body parts? No, because we have that today despite laws. When we put the free market in charge, then everyone will be satisfied.
Now what am I offered for the proceeds of a liposuction? I have about a 100# I could spare.
Seriously, the gooferment makes diktats about organ transplants and we have shortages, spoilage, and high costs. (Which is EXACTLY what the dismal science of economics predicts would happen.)
Tell your representatives to get their head out of where ever it is and take their hands off our organs!

Rosie earned her way onto my “don’t care” list when she showed that the “Queen of Nice” was all an act. She put herself out in her morning show as an ordinary person, with some liberal politics, doing good for ordinary folks. When she was finished, she demonstrated that it was all an act. She was not an authentic person! Anyway, as Gandhi said “one can not do wrong in one department of life”.
Donald also earned his way on to that list with several actions. His perversion of the eminent domain laws to displace those AC families for “his” underpass violated my sense of fair play on several levels. So, I won’t patronize his efforts voluntarily.
So, like Jane Fonda, Barbara Striesand, and many politicians, I choose to ignore them and urge you to do the same.

Athletic Director Elaine McGrath said Wednesday the school decided to “go in a new direction” and seek a new head coach for the 2007 season. Mr. Prelewicz was informed of the decision Monday, she said.
*** end quote ***
Doesn’t anyone see a problem in the government running a school; let alone a school’s football program?
First, my earnings are stolen by taxes to support this activity in which I get to pay but have no voice in. Maybe Coach Mark was a terrible coach. But where does the Athletic Director get to say in my name, and all the taxpayers, that “we” want to go in a new direction. Maybe we don’t care if the team wins or loses, but maybe we value if the children are having fun, learning something, and safe.
Second, government schools are a queer activity in terms of Constitutional limits. Where does the authority for this odd creation come from? Certainly, no one has ever asked me. Students, teachers, and coaches are dealing with the government and then have all the associated rights when one deals with the government. It just becomes too confusing. What happened to the coach’s right to due process.
Third, and probably most important, it’s not fair to expect teachers and coaches to work in this new version of the “company store”. We don’t have the marketplace to supply the discipline to ensure that everyone is maximizing their service to their fellow human beings. The government, its schools, and all its undertakings have no marketplace to tell it when it is doing something good, something bad, or in this case something very confusing.

It’s all part of the intellectual dishonesty around the “vice” crimes. Gambling, drinking, drugs, and prostitution are all “terrible” unless the government can make a buck out of it. Anyone who thinks that the gubamint’s “laws” actually prevent or stop anything is sadly deluded. Not only that, but they don’t really want it to go away. It keeps them in power.
