Dad who ‘tried to strangle daughter in Muslim ‘honor killing’ is jailed for 32 months after shock verdict

A father accused of trying to strangle his teenage daughter in a Muslim ‘honor killing’ has been jailed for almost three years.

Ihsan Ali, 44, stood trial for second-degree attempted murder alongside his wife Zahraa Subhi Mohsin Ali, 40, over the October 18, 2024, attack.

A Thurston County Superior Court jury found them not guilty on July 31, but convicted Ihsan of lesser charges against his daughter Fatima Ali.

It’s obvious that this was a miscarriage of “justice” to this girl.

The report doesn’t say what their immigration status is.

Regardless of what it is, the husband and wife should be either deported or denaturalized and deported.

It further apparent that they have not be good “citizens” hence the felony convictions.

I like Japan’s treatment of “muslims” due to their conduct and failure to live peacefully in civil society.

Islam is NOT a “religion”; it’s an ideology that seeks to fundamentally change society.

Hence, as a gun-owning pro-life pro-choice little L libertarian, they should depart from the USA and return to wherever they came from.  They are not … …

“Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

… … “yearning to breathe free” and as such are not welcome to share in the American experiment.

Argh!

POLITICAL: Why do we have special deductions in the income tax code

OK, a quick question, how many of you are aware that the BBB includes a provision for a $ 1,700 tax credit for a donation to a non public school scholarship program? If I owe uncle $ 15,000 next year I’d much rather give him $ 13,300 and spread the other $ 1,700 among the Catholic Schools I and my kids attended. Thanks to the “Jewish Weekly Standard” for the info!

A more important question to this little L libertarian is “Why?”

  • Why have this “loophole” when the USA has the current 137T+ national debt and the guesstimated 200T+ in unfunded liabilities that our posterity will have to deal with.
  • Why is the Gooferment “picking” winners and losers with the manipulation of the tax code — best to figure out how to end Gooferment Skrules and put parents in charge. (They had them; they feed them; they should school them.).
  • Why don’t we stick to the Dead Old White Guys’ vision of a very limited Federal Gooferment? Why do we continue to accept the “bad behavior” of politicians and bureaucrats at all levels of society?

Why …, … why …, … why …?

POLICY: Pull the USA out of NATO … … and the UN while you’re at it

NATO Spending Hike

NATO leaders are expected to agree to ramp up defense spending when the two-day summit concludes today. Countries may commit to spending 5% of their gross domestic product on defense by 2035—up from the current 2% target, which 22 of the 32 member countries have met.

The commitment responds to a call from President Donald Trump, who has conveyed skepticism about the military alliance’s value to the United States. The US is one of NATO’s biggest contributors, responsible for roughly 16% of the alliance’s collective $3.5B budget last year. It is also the only country to have triggered Article 5, which assures collective defense for all member countries. Spain struck a deal with NATO to be exempted in the final communique, instead committing 2.1% of its GDP to defense. Learn more about NATO here.

POLICY: How about a GOFUNDME style of foreign aid?

USAID Flops, But There May Be Alternatives
By Deroy Murdock Thursday, 03 April 2025 12:07 PM EDT

Elon Musk is helping President Donald J. Trump rein in profligate, reckless, and corrupt federal spending via the new Department of Government Efficiency.

Democrats are not amused.

Left-wing domestic terrorists have responded by firing bullets into the windshields of electric vehicles at Musk’s Tesla dealerships. They have torched Tesla charging stations, set Teslas ablaze in parking lots, and used Molotov cocktails to ignite multiple Teslas beside a Las Vegas showroom.

Devolving into the party of arson is unwise for Democrats, especially after last month’s Harvard-Harris survey found that 76% of U.S. voters support chopping waste and fraud from federal expenditures.

One need not be Milton Friedman to be enraged by what DOGE uncovered in Haiti: Since 2010, USAID has made some $2 billion in grants tied to that star-crossed Caribbean nation. Only 2% of these funds actually reached Haitian companies and organizations.

Inefficiency is one thing. When Haitians see a mere $40 million of a $2 billion outlay, this smacks of money laundering.

I remember CARE packages.  After WWII, Americans sent care package to Europe.  It was used to provide political cover for the Marshall Plan and all sorts of other “foreign aid”.

I have a “new” idea for “foreign aid”.   Let the USA Gooferment identify places that need real help.  Then let the “We, The Sheeple”, aka Taxpayers, decide who and how much.  Americans are very charitable even though the Gooferment “elbows” their way into “charity” and seizes larger and larger portions of the wealth and earnings of ordinary people.  Then, folks can pick and choose what and how much they can afford to donate.

Last time I looked there is no Constitution justification for the Gooferment to spend on such.

Sorry but did we learn NOTHING from Prohibition?

Is it because DRUG PROHIBITION has worked so well?

Can’t we see what Portugal has done?

Argh!

No one can stop someone from putting in their body what they want.  It’s call free will.  Human beings are as resourceful as any rat or roach.

Argh!

Could we try abandoning an approach that is an OBVIOUS failure and try a true free market approach?

Imagine how many drug addicts would survive if they could walk in any pharmacy and buy their drug of choice in a sterile accurately measured does of a know potency?  Like going into a Marijuana Dispensary today.  I’m sure that if Walmart, Walgreens, or CVS was in charge, the whole process would be safe and that they would offer information about rehab with every “prescription”,  Maybe even require a buyer to acknowledge that they were given the information.  And, I bet prices would be cheaper than aspirin!

Of course, we would have the problem of out-of-work drug gangs and what does a Drug Kingpin do when he has to compete with Walmart?

If short, I think we should admit defeat in the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs” and seek a different strategy.

POLICY: It seems that Gooferment is consistently bad across the ages

Like Lahaina, LA Was Warned in 2018

Little investment made in fire prevention since the Woolsey Fire of 2018.

John Leake

Jan 08, 2025

*** begin quote ***

A letter from Pliny the Younger to the Emperor Trajan in the early 2nd century touched on this perennial issue:

While I was making a progress in a different part of the province, a most extensive fire broke out at Nicomedia [now Izmit, Turkey] which not only consumed several private houses, but also two public buildings; the town-house and the temple of Isis, though they stood on contrary sides of the street. The occasion of its spreading thus far was partly owing to the violence of the wind, and partly to the indolence of the people, who, manifestly, stood idle and motionless spectators of this terrible calamity. The truth is the city was not furnished with either engines, buckets, or any single instrument suitable for extinguishing fires; which I have now however given directions to have prepared.

Just as Lahaina was warned in 2018, Los Angeles was warned by the Woolsey Fire—which ignited on November 8, 2018, burned 96,949 acres, and destroyed 1,643 structures—of the sort of catastrophes that are likely to occur when conditions are dry and windy. As was the case in Lahaina, it appears that what passes for leadership in Los Angeles made little to no investment to prevent the same kind of disaster from happening again.

To preserve civilization from natural disasters, it is necessary to make considerable investment in infrastructure and human resources, even if such investments do not yield a significant profit for any particular business interest.

It is also necessary to invest in good leadership. The Roman Emperor Trajan was an extremely capable soldier and administrator, and Pliny the Younger was a gifted lawyer, writer, and magistrate.

I remember one snowstorm in NYC when I was young that the entire Brough of Queens was snow bound for weeks.  And, that swung the entire mayoral election as Queens’ residents almost entirely voted as a bloc against the incumbent.

I guess things haven’t changed since the early 2nd century.  Gooferments suck at infraructure.  And, its care and maintainence too.

Wonder how “We, The Sheeple” fix this attention failure?

Guess before we vote for a politician, we better look for a track record of attention to such details.

Or, we’ll be disappointed with results again.

Maybe there should be a “system” of promotion  —  you can’t be a county executive unless you have been a mayor.  Or you can’t be a governor unless you’ve been a good mayor.  Only governor should be Presidents.  Only a Representative should be a Senator.

Might be worth trying!

100 Health Priorities for the Nation in 2025
By Sharyl Attkisson | December 27, 2024

*** begin quote ***

…and that’s just for starters

The following was first published on Sharyl Attkisson’s free Substack.

Our health systems are so broken that there are many thousands of things that need to be done to try to set them right.

Therefore, the following list of 100 is not intended to be comprehensive.

But it does scratch the surface regarding some important issues that should be addressed.

In the comment section, add your own ideas!

MISSION and PRIORITIES

1. Quickly move to end reliance on foreign countries, particularly adversaries like China, for critical medicine.

2. Transform the Health and Human Services (HHS) mission and goal into one that prioritizes identifying the causes of illnesses and preventing them, over simply treating them with pharmaceuticals and other therapies.

And 98 more great ideas.

Hope that RFKjr just tacks this list to the front of his office door!

Seems like she’s done a lot of the work already.

POLICY: Biden commutations are not a strict rejection of the federal death penalty

Biden commutes death sentences of child killers and mass murderers 2 days before Christmas
By Steven Nelson

President Biden on Monday commuted the sentences of 37 of 40 men on federal death row — a list that includes at least five child killers and several mass murderers — in a stunning act of clemency just two days before Christmas.

Biden, 82, gave the reprieve to the nation’s most violent murderers — nine of whom were found too dangerous to live after butchering fellow inmates — as part of his effort at “ensuring a fair and effective justice system,” the White House said.

“Make no mistake: I condemn these murderers, grieve for the victims of their despicable acts, and ache for all the families who have suffered unimaginable and irreparable loss,” Biden said in a statement.

“But guided by my conscience and my experience as a public defender, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Vice President, and now President, I am more convinced than ever that we must stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level. In good conscience, I cannot stand back and let a new administration resume executions that I halted.”

Biden, who opposes the death penalty, lowered each of the 37 sentences to life in prison without parole. He did not say why specifically he considered the original penalties unjust.

*** end quote ***

If he commuted EVERYONE, then I could believe that this is his moral decision.  (Which BTW I’d agree with!)  By his other actions, killing people and not extending commutation to everyone, I doubt his sincerity.

Some of these commutations cover a convict that is too dangerous to keep confined.  (This is my exception to the “no death penalty” policy.)

So, I don’t understand his partial view of morality.  And, he doesn’t explain his “in good conscience” rationale.

Befuddled and befuddling.

US out of NATO and the UN. Put the troops on the Mexican border.

I want to stop Ukraine and Russia war and NATO should indeed need to reevaluate

There is no NATO, there is the United States. We shoulder pretty much all the burden.

Leaving NATO and threatening to leave NATO is a bargaining chip for negotiations.

Good. Kick out the UN next.

No “alliances”.  Period!  Full Stop!

NATO is an idea who’d time has passed.  Let Europe defend itself.

The UN was a Wilson pipe-dream.  It has failed to bring peace and, in fact, their “peacekeepers” are a problem.

How, When, Do We Come Together Again?

Nor is it only clashing morality that divides us.

For a nation, a country, a people, a democracy to endure, there needs be a broad consensus of belief, culture, custom and politics.

On the issue of law and order, without which a republic cannot stand, there is now disagreement over the role and conduct of our police.

Yes, inho

FROM LUDDITE:

Not sure it has “run its course yet”, but it surely can be seen on the horizon. Too bad, since it could have worked great indefinitely, I wonder what analysts will say at the end about what could have been done to keep it from failing?

True. I point to the killing of the black churches and families with LBJ’s “Great Society” welfare rules. It created 4 generations of welfare farmers.

Upon reflection, Brion McClanahan points to the “Civil War” aka “The War of Northern Aggression” as the transformation from A Federal Republic to a monolithic “identify nation”.  Hard to argue with him.  (His credentials are vastly superior to mine.) The downward spiral certainly started there and just kept sliding at an accelerating pace.  Destroyed the churches.  Destroyed the civil society.  Destroyed the mutual aid societies.

Sadly.
