I remember when a neighbor’s relative wanted to immigrate to the United States. They had a wealthy relative in St. Louis who wanted to sponsor him but no regular income from a job. He lived off his investments. They made that relative find someone with a real job no matter how poorly paid to sponsor him. I thought that was absolutely hysterical at the time. Decades later I realize how stupid bureaucrats could be.
But we should not admit immigrants who will become a drag on the welfare system. Immigrants who want to work and have skills should be welcomed in. We don’t need grifter and freeloaders.
